Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vaine thing?
GenevaWhy doe the heathen rage, and the people murmure in vaine?
לָ֭/מָּה רָגְשׁ֣וּ גוֹיִ֑ם וּ֝/לְאֻמִּ֗ים יֶהְגּוּ רִֽיק
The Kings of the earth set themselues, and the rulers take counsell together, against the LORD, and against his Anoynted, saying,
GenevaThe Kings of the earth band themselues, and the princes are assembled together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
יִ֥תְיַצְּב֨וּ מַלְכֵי אֶ֗רֶץ וְ/רוֹזְנִ֥ים נֽוֹסְדוּ יָ֑חַד עַל יְ֝הוָה וְ/עַל מְשִׁיחֽ/וֹ
Let vs breake their bandes asunder, and cast away their cords from vs.

נְֽ֭נַתְּקָה אֶת מֽוֹסְרוֹתֵ֑י/מוֹ וְ/נַשְׁלִ֖יכָה מִמֶּ֣/נּוּ עֲבֹתֵֽי/מוֹ
Hee that sitteth in the heauens shal laugh: the Lord shall haue them in derision.
GenevaBut he that dwelleth in the heauen, shall laugh: the Lord shall haue them in derision.
יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בַּ/שָּׁמַ֣יִם יִשְׂחָ֑ק אֲ֝דֹנָ֗/י יִלְעַג לָֽ/מוֹ
Then shall hee speake vnto them in his wrath, and vexe them in his sore displeasure.

אָ֤ז יְדַבֵּ֣ר אֵלֵ֣י/מוֹ בְ/אַפּ֑/וֹ וּֽ/בַ/חֲרוֹנ֥/וֹ יְבַהֲלֵֽ/מוֹ
Yet haue I set my King vpon my holy hill of Sion.
GenevaEuen I haue set my King vpon Zion mine holy mountaine.
וַ֭/אֲנִי נָסַ֣כְתִּי מַלְכִּ֑/י עַל צִ֝יּ֗וֹן הַר קָדְשִֽׁ/י
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said vnto mee, Thou art my sonne, this day haue I begotten thee.
GenevaI will declare the decree: that is, the Lord hath said vnto me, Thou art my Sonne: this day haue I begotten thee.
אֲסַפְּרָ֗ה אֶֽ֫ל חֹ֥ק יְֽהוָ֗ה אָמַ֘ר אֵלַ֥/י בְּנִ֥/י אַ֑תָּה אֲ֝נִ֗י הַ/יּ֥וֹם יְלִדְתִּֽי/ךָ
Aske of me, and I shall giue thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the vttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

שְׁאַ֤ל מִמֶּ֗/נִּי וְ/אֶתְּנָ֣ה ג֭וֹיִם נַחֲלָתֶ֑/ךָ וַ֝/אֲחֻזָּתְ/ךָ֗ אַפְסֵי אָֽרֶץ
Thou shalt breake them with a rod of iron, thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potters vessell.
GenevaThou shalt krush them with a scepter of yron, and breake them in pieces like a potters vessell.
תְּ֭רֹעֵ/ם בְּ/שֵׁ֣בֶט בַּרְזֶ֑ל כִּ/כְלִ֖י יוֹצֵ֣ר תְּנַפְּצֵֽ/ם
Bee wise now therefore, O yee Kings: be instructed ye Iudges of the earth.
GenevaBe wise nowe therefore, ye Kings: be learned ye Iudges of the earth.
וְ֭/עַתָּה מְלָכִ֣ים הַשְׂכִּ֑ילוּ הִ֝וָּסְר֗וּ שֹׁ֣פְטֵי אָֽרֶץ
Serue the LORD with feare, and reioyce with trembling.
GenevaSerue the Lord in feare, and reioyce in trembling.
עִבְד֣וּ אֶת יְהוָ֣ה בְּ/יִרְאָ֑ה וְ֝/גִ֗ילוּ בִּ/רְעָדָֽה
Kisse the Sonne lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little: Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
GenevaKisse the sonne, least he be angry, and ye perish in the way, when his wrath shall suddenly burne. blessed are all that trust in him.
נַשְּׁקוּ בַ֡ר פֶּן יֶאֱנַ֤ף וְ/תֹ֬אבְדוּ דֶ֗רֶךְ כִּֽי יִבְעַ֣ר כִּ/מְעַ֣ט אַפּ֑/וֹ אַ֝שְׁרֵ֗י כָּל ח֥וֹסֵי בֽ/וֹ
