Judges 6
And the children of Israel did euill in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD deliuered them into the hande of Midian seuen yeeres.
GenevaAfterwarde the children of Israel committed wickednesse in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord gaue them into the handes of Midian seuen yeres.
וַ/יַּעֲשׂ֧וּ בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל הָ/רַ֖ע בְּ/עֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַ/יִּתְּנֵ֧/ם יְהוָ֛ה בְּ/יַד מִדְיָ֖ן שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִֽים
And the hand of Midian preuailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites, the children of Israel made them the dennes which are in the mountaines, and caues, & strong holds.
GenevaAnd the hand of Midian preuayled against Israel, and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them dennes in the mountaines, and caues, and strong holdes.
וַ/תָּ֥עָז יַד מִדְיָ֖ן עַל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מִ/פְּנֵ֨י מִדְיָ֜ן עָשֽׂוּ לָ/הֶ֣ם בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֶת הַ/מִּנְהָרוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בֶּֽ/הָרִ֔ים וְ/אֶת הַ/מְּעָר֖וֹת וְ/אֶת הַ/מְּצָדֽוֹת
And so it was when Israel had sowen, that the Midianites came vp, & the Amalekites, & the children of the East, euen they came vp against them,
GenevaWhen Israel had sowen, then came vp the Midianites, the Amalekites, and they of the East, and came vpon them,
וְ/הָיָ֖ה אִם זָרַ֣ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְ/עָלָ֨ה מִדְיָ֧ן וַֽ/עֲמָלֵ֛ק וּ/בְנֵי קֶ֖דֶם וְ/עָל֥וּ עָלָֽי/ו
And they encamped against them, and destroyed the encrease of the earth, till thou come vnto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheepe, nor oxe, nor asse.
GenevaAnd camped by them, and destroyed the fruite of the earth, euen til thou come vnto Azzah, and left no foode for Israel, neither sheepe, nor oxe, nor asse.
וַ/יַּחֲנ֣וּ עֲלֵי/הֶ֗ם וַ/יַּשְׁחִ֨יתוּ֙ אֶת יְב֣וּל הָ/אָ֔רֶץ עַד בּוֹאֲ/ךָ֖ עַזָּ֑ה וְ/לֹֽא יַשְׁאִ֤ירוּ מִֽחְיָה֙ בְּ/יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְ/שֶׂ֥ה וָ/שׁ֖וֹר וַ/חֲמֽוֹר
For they came vp with their cattell and their tents, and they came as Grashoppers for multitude, for both they and their camels were without number: and they entred into the land to destroy it.
GenevaFor they went vp, and their cattel, and came with their tentes as grashoppers in multitude: so that they and their camels were without number: and they came into the land to destroy it.
כִּ֡י הֵם֩ וּ/מִקְנֵי/הֶ֨ם יַעֲל֜וּ וְ/אָהֳלֵי/הֶ֗ם יבאו כְ/דֵֽי אַרְבֶּה֙ לָ/רֹ֔ב וְ/לָ/הֶ֥ם וְ/לִ/גְמַלֵּי/הֶ֖ם אֵ֣ין מִסְפָּ֑ר וַ/יָּבֹ֥אוּ בָ/אָ֖רֶץ לְ/שַׁחֲתָֽ/הּ
And Israel was greatly impouerished, because of the Midianites, and the children of Israel cryed vnto the LORD.
GenevaSo was Israel exceedingly impouerished by the Midianites: therefore the children of Israel cryed vnto the Lord.
וַ/יִּדַּ֧ל יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל מְאֹ֖ד מִ/פְּנֵ֣י מִדְיָ֑ן וַ/יִּזְעֲק֥וּ בְנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶל יְהוָֽה
¶ And it came to passe when the children of Israel cryed vnto the LORD, because of the Midianites,
GenevaAnd when the children of Israel cryed vnto the Lord because of the Midianites,
וַ/יְהִ֕י כִּֽי זָעֲק֥וּ בְנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶל יְהוָ֑ה עַ֖ל אֹד֥וֹת מִדְיָֽן
That the LORD sent a Prophet vnto the children of Israel, which said vnto them; Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you vp from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage,
GenevaThe Lord sent vnto the children of Israel a Prophet, who sayd vuto them, Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, I haue brought you vp from Egypt, and haue brought you out of the house of bondage,
וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֧ח יְהוָ֛ה אִ֥ישׁ נָבִ֖יא אֶל בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר לָ/הֶ֜ם כֹּה אָמַ֥ר יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אָנֹכִ֞י הֶעֱלֵ֤יתִי אֶתְ/כֶם֙ מִ/מִּצְרַ֔יִם וָ/אֹצִ֥יא אֶתְ/כֶ֖ם מִ/בֵּ֥ית עֲבָדִֽים
And I deliuered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of al that oppressed you, and draue them out from before you, and gaue you their land:
GenevaAnd I haue deliuered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and haue cast them out before you, and giuen you their land.
וָ/אַצִּ֤ל אֶתְ/כֶם֙ מִ/יַּ֣ד מִצְרַ֔יִם וּ/מִ/יַּ֖ד כָּל לֹחֲצֵי/כֶ֑ם וָ/אֲגָרֵ֤שׁ אוֹתָ/ם֙ מִ/פְּנֵי/כֶ֔ם וָ/אֶתְּנָ֥/ה לָ/כֶ֖ם אֶת אַרְצָֽ/ם
And I said vnto you, I am the LORD your God, feare not the gods of the Amorites in whose land ye dwel: But ye haue not obeyed my voice.
GenevaAnd I sayde vnto you, I am the Lord your God: feare not the gods of the Amorites in whose lande you dwell: but ye haue not obeyed my voyce.
וָ/אֹמְרָ֣/ה לָ/כֶ֗ם אֲנִי֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵי/כֶ֔ם לֹ֤א תִֽירְאוּ֙ אֶת אֱלֹהֵ֣י הָ/אֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתֶּ֖ם יוֹשְׁבִ֣ים בְּ/אַרְצָ֑/ם וְ/לֹ֥א שְׁמַעְתֶּ֖ם בְּ/קוֹלִֽ/י
¶ And there came an Angel of the LORD, and sate vnder an Oake which was in Ophrah, that pertained vnto Ioash the Abi-Ezrite: and his sonne Gideon threshed wheat by the winepresse, to hide it from the Midianites.
GenevaAnd the Angell of the Lord came, and sate vnder the oke which was in Ophrah, that perteined vnto Ioash the father of the Ezrites, and his sonne Gideon threshed wheate by the winepresse, to hide it from the Midianites.
וַ/יָּבֹ֞א מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֗ה וַ/יֵּ֨שֶׁב֙ תַּ֤חַת הָֽ/אֵלָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּ/עָפְרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לְ/יוֹאָ֖שׁ אֲבִ֣י הָֽעֶזְרִ֑י וְ/גִדְע֣וֹן בְּנ֗/וֹ חֹבֵ֤ט חִטִּים֙ בַּ/גַּ֔ת לְ/הָנִ֖יס מִ/פְּנֵ֥י מִדְיָֽן
And the Angel of the LORD appeared vnto him, and said vnto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mightie man of valour.
GenevaThen the Angel of the Lord appeared vnto him, and said vnto him, The Lord is with thee, thou valiant man.
וַ/יֵּרָ֥א אֵלָ֖י/ו מַלְּאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֑ה וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔י/ו יְהוָ֥ה עִמְּ/ךָ֖ גִּבּ֥וֹר הֶ/חָֽיִל
And Gideon said vnto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD bee with vs, why then is all this befallen vs? and where be all his miracles which our fathers tolde vs of, saying, Did not the LORD bring vs vp from Egypt? But now the LORD hath forsaken vs, and deliuered vs into the hands of the Midianites.
GenevaTo whome Gideon answered, Ah my Lord, if the Lord be with vs, why then is all this come vpon vs? and where be all his miracles which our fathers tolde vs of, and sayd, Did not the Lord bring vs out of Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken vs, and deliuered vs into the hand of the Midianites.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֤י/ו גִּדְעוֹן֙ בִּ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔/י וְ/יֵ֤שׁ יְהוָה֙ עִמָּ֔/נוּ וְ/לָ֥/מָּה מְצָאַ֖תְ/נוּ כָּל זֹ֑את וְ/אַיֵּ֣ה כָֽל נִפְלְאֹתָ֡י/ו אֲשֶׁר֩ סִפְּרוּ לָ֨/נוּ אֲבוֹתֵ֜י/נוּ לֵ/אמֹ֗ר הֲ/לֹ֤א מִ/מִּצְרַ֨יִם֙ הֶעֱלָ֣/נוּ יְהוָ֔ה וְ/עַתָּה֙ נְטָשָׁ֣/נוּ יְהוָ֔ה וַֽ/יִּתְּנֵ֖/נוּ בְּ/כַף מִדְיָֽן
And the LORD looked vpon him, and said, Goe in this thy might, and thou shalt saue Israel from the hand of the Midianites: haue not I sent thee?
GenevaAnd the Lord looked vpon him, and sayd, Goe in this thy might, and thou shalt saue Israel out of the handes of the Midianites: haue not I sent thee?
וַ/יִּ֤פֶן אֵלָי/ו֙ יְהוָ֔ה וַ/יֹּ֗אמֶר לֵ֚ךְ בְּ/כֹחֲ/ךָ֣ זֶ֔ה וְ/הוֹשַׁעְתָּ֥ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מִ/כַּ֣ף מִדְיָ֑ן הֲ/לֹ֖א שְׁלַחְתִּֽי/ךָ
And hee said vnto him, Oh my lord, wherewith shall I saue Israel? behold, my family is poore in Manasseh, and I am the least in my fathers house.
GenevaAnd he answered him, Ah my Lord, whereby shall I saue Israel? beholde, my father is poore in Manasseh, and I am the least in my fathers house.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָי/ו֙ בִּ֣י אֲדֹנָ֔/י בַּ/מָּ֥ה אוֹשִׁ֖יעַ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל הִנֵּ֤ה אַלְפִּ/י֙ הַ/דַּ֣ל בִּ/מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה וְ/אָנֹכִ֥י הַ/צָּעִ֖יר בְּ/בֵ֥ית אָבִֽ/י
And the LORD said vnto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites, as one man.
GenevaThen the Lord sayd vnto him, I wil therefore be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites, as one man.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָי/ו֙ יְהוָ֔ה כִּ֥י אֶהְיֶ֖ה עִמָּ֑/ךְ וְ/הִכִּיתָ֥ אֶת מִדְיָ֖ן כְּ/אִ֥ישׁ אֶחָֽד
And he said vnto him, If now I haue found grace in thy sight, then shew me a signe, that thou talkest with me.
GenevaAnd he answered him, I pray thee, if I haue founde fauour in thy sight, then shewe me a signe, that thou talkest with me.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔י/ו אִם נָ֛א מָצָ֥אתִי חֵ֖ן בְּ/עֵינֶ֑י/ךָ וְ/עָשִׂ֤יתָ לִּ/י֙ א֔וֹת שָׁ/אַתָּ֖ה מְדַבֵּ֥ר עִמִּֽ/י
Depart not hence, I pray thee, vntil I come vnto thee, and bring forth my Present, and set it before thee. And hee saide, I will tary vntill thou come againe.
GenevaDepart not hence, I pray thee, vntil I come vnto thee, and bring mine offring, and lay it before thee. And he sayde, I will tary vntill thou come againe.
אַל נָ֨א תָמֻ֤שׁ מִ/זֶּה֙ עַד בֹּאִ֣/י אֵלֶ֔י/ךָ וְ/הֹֽצֵאתִי֙ אֶת מִנְחָתִ֔/י וְ/הִנַּחְתִּ֖י לְ/פָנֶ֑י/ךָ וַ/יֹּאמַ֕ר אָנֹכִ֥י אֵשֵׁ֖ב עַ֥ד שׁוּבֶֽ/ךָ
¶ And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and vnleauened cakes of an Ephah of floure: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out vnto him vnder the oake, and presented it.
GenevaThen Gideon went in, and made ready a kidde, and vnleauened bread of an Ephah of floure, and put the flesh in a basket, and put the broth in a pot, and brought it out vnto him vnder the oke, and presented it.
וְ/גִדְע֣וֹן בָּ֗א וַ/יַּ֤עַשׂ גְּדִֽי עִזִּים֙ וְ/אֵיפַת קֶ֣מַח מַצּ֔וֹת הַ/בָּשָׂר֙ שָׂ֣ם בַּ/סַּ֔ל וְ/הַ/מָּרַ֖ק שָׂ֣ם בַּ/פָּר֑וּר וַ/יּוֹצֵ֥א אֵלָ֛י/ו אֶל תַּ֥חַת הָ/אֵלָ֖ה וַ/יַּגַּֽשׁ
And the Angel of God sayd vnto him, Take the flesh, and the vnleauened cakes, and lay them vpon this rocke, and powre out the broth. And he did so.
GenevaAnd the Angell of God saide vnto him, Take the flesh and the vnleauened bread, and lay them vpon this stone, and powre out the broth: and he did so.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֜י/ו מַלְאַ֣ךְ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֗ים קַ֣ח אֶת הַ/בָּשָׂ֤ר וְ/אֶת הַ/מַּצּוֹת֙ וְ/הַנַּח֙ אֶל הַ/סֶּ֣לַע הַלָּ֔ז וְ/אֶת הַ/מָּרַ֖ק שְׁפ֑וֹךְ וַ/יַּ֖עַשׂ כֵּֽן
¶ Then the Angel of the LORD put foorth the end of the staffe that was in his hand, and touched the flesh, and the vnleauened cakes, and there rose vp fire out of the rocke, and consumed the flesh and the vnleauened cakes: then the Angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.
GenevaThen the Angell of the Lord put forth the ende of the staffe that he had in his hand, and touched the flesh and the vnleauened bread: and there arose vp fire out of the stone, and consumed the flesh and the vnleauened bread: so the Angel of the Lord departed out of his sight.
וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֞ח מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֗ה אֶת קְצֵ֤ה הַ/מִּשְׁעֶ֨נֶת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּ/יָד֔/וֹ וַ/יִּגַּ֥ע בַּ/בָּשָׂ֖ר וּ/בַ/מַּצּ֑וֹת וַ/תַּ֨עַל הָ/אֵ֜שׁ מִן הַ/צּ֗וּר וַ/תֹּ֤אכַל אֶת הַ/בָּשָׂר֙ וְ/אֶת הַ/מַּצּ֔וֹת וּ/מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה הָלַ֖ךְ מֵ/עֵינָֽי/ו
And when Gideon perceiued that hee was an Angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD: for because I haue seene an Angel of the LORD face to face.
GenevaAnd when Gideon perceiued that it was an Angel of the Lord, Gideon then sayde, Alas, my Lord God: for because I haue seene an Angell of the Lord face to face, I shall die.
וַ/יַּ֣רְא גִּדְע֔וֹן כִּֽי מַלְאַ֥ךְ יְהוָ֖ה ה֑וּא וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר גִּדְע֗וֹן אֲהָהּ֙ אֲדֹנָ֣/י יְהוִ֔ה כִּֽי עַל כֵּ֤ן רָאִ֨יתִי֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה פָּנִ֖ים אֶל פָּנִֽים
And the LORD said vnto him, Peace be vnto thee, feare not, thou shalt not die.
GenevaAnd the Lord said vnto him, Peace be vnto thee: feare not, thou shalt not die.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר ל֧/וֹ יְהוָ֛ה שָׁל֥וֹם לְ/ךָ֖ אַל תִּירָ֑א לֹ֖א תָּמֽוּת
Then Gideon built an Altar there vnto the Lord, and called it Iehouah shalom: vnto this day it is yet in Ophrah, of the Abi-Ezrites.
GenevaThen Gideon made an altar there vnto the Lord, and called it, Iehouah shalom: vnto this day it is in Ophrah, of the father of the Ezrites.
וַ/יִּבֶן֩ שָׁ֨ם גִּדְע֤וֹן מִזְבֵּ֨חַ֙ לַֽ/יהוָ֔ה וַ/יִּקְרָא ל֥/וֹ יְהוָ֖ה שָׁל֑וֹם עַ֚ד הַ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/זֶּ֔ה עוֹדֶ֕/נּוּ בְּ/עָפְרָ֖ת אֲבִ֥י הָעֶזְרִֽי
¶ And it came to passe the same night, that the LORD said vnto him, Take thy fathers yong bullocke, euen the second bullocke of seuen yeeres old, and throw downe the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut downe the groue that is by it:
GenevaAnd the same night the Lord sayd vnto him, Take thy fathers yong bullocke, and an other bullocke of seuen yeeres olde, and destroy the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut downe the groue that is by it,
וַ/יְהִי֮ בַּ/לַּ֣יְלָה הַ/הוּא֒ וַ/יֹּ֧אמֶר ל֣/וֹ יְהוָ֗ה קַ֤ח אֶת פַּר הַ/שּׁוֹר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְ/אָבִ֔י/ךָ וּ/פַ֥ר הַ/שֵּׁנִ֖י שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֑ים וְ/הָרַסְתָּ֗ אֶת מִזְבַּ֤ח הַ/בַּ֨עַל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְ/אָבִ֔י/ךָ וְ/אֶת הָ/אֲשֵׁרָ֥ה אֲשֶׁר עָלָ֖י/ו תִּכְרֹֽת
And builde an Altar vnto the LORD thy God vpon the top of this rocke, in the ordered place, and take the second bullocke, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the groue, which thou shalt cut downe.
GenevaAnd build an altar vnto the Lord thy God vpon the top of this rocke, in a plaine place: and take the seconde bullocke, and offer a burnt offringe with the woode of the groue, which thou shalt cut downe.
וּ/בָנִ֨יתָ מִזְבֵּ֜חַ לַ/יהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗י/ךָ עַ֣ל רֹ֧אשׁ הַ/מָּע֛וֹז הַ/זֶּ֖ה בַּ/מַּֽעֲרָכָ֑ה וְ/לָֽקַחְתָּ֙ אֶת הַ/פָּ֣ר הַ/שֵּׁנִ֔י וְ/הַעֲלִ֣יתָ עוֹלָ֔ה בַּ/עֲצֵ֥י הָ/אֲשֵׁרָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּכְרֹֽת
Then Gideon tooke ten men of his seruants, and did as the LORD had said vnto him: And so it was because hee feared his fathers houshold, and the men of the city, that he could not doe it by day, that hee did it by night.
GenevaThen Gideon tooke tenne men of his seruants, and did as ye Lord bade him: but because he feared to doe it by day for his fathers housholde, and the men of the citie, he did it by night.
וַ/יִּקַּ֨ח גִּדְע֜וֹן עֲשָׂרָ֤ה אֲנָשִׁים֙ מֵֽ/עֲבָדָ֔י/ו וַ/יַּ֕עַשׂ כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֛ר דִּבֶּ֥ר אֵלָ֖י/ו יְהוָ֑ה וַ/יְהִ֡י כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָרֵא֩ אֶת בֵּ֨ית אָבִ֜י/ו וְ/אֶת אַנְשֵׁ֥י הָ/עִ֛יר מֵ/עֲשׂ֥וֹת יוֹמָ֖ם וַ/יַּ֥עַשׂ לָֽיְלָה
¶ And when the men of the citie arose earely in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast downe, and the groue was cut downe that was by it, and the second bullocke was offered vpon the altar that was built.
GenevaAnd when the men of the citie arose early in the morning, beholde, the altar of Baal was broken, and the groue cut downe that was by it, and the seconde bullocke offred vpon the altar that was made.
וַ/יַּשְׁכִּ֜ימוּ אַנְשֵׁ֤י הָ/עִיר֙ בַּ/בֹּ֔קֶר וְ/הִנֵּ֤ה נֻתַּץ֙ מִזְבַּ֣ח הַ/בַּ֔עַל וְ/הָ/אֲשֵׁרָ֥ה אֲשֶׁר עָלָ֖י/ו כֹּרָ֑תָה וְ/אֵת֙ הַ/פָּ֣ר הַ/שֵּׁנִ֔י הֹֽעֲלָ֔ה עַל הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֖חַ הַ/בָּנֽוּי
And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the sonne of Ioash hath done this thing.
GenevaTherefore they saide one to another, Who hath done this thing? and when they inquired and asked, they saide, Gideon the sonne of Ioash hath done this thing.
וַ/יֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֶל רֵעֵ֔/הוּ מִ֥י עָשָׂ֖ה הַ/דָּבָ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֑ה וַֽ/יִּדְרְשׁוּ֙ וַ/יְבַקְשׁ֔וּ וַ/יֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ גִּדְעוֹן֙ בֶּן יוֹאָ֔שׁ עָשָׂ֖ה הַ/דָּבָ֥ר הַ/זֶּֽה
Then the men of the citie said vnto Ioash, Bring out thy sonne, that he may die: because he hath cast downe the altar of Baal, and because hee hath cut downe the groue that was by it.
GenevaThen the men of the citie said vnto Ioash, Bring out thy sonne, that hee may dye: for he hath destroyed the altar of Baal, and hath also cut downe the groue that was by it.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ אַנְשֵׁ֤י הָ/עִיר֙ אֶל יוֹאָ֔שׁ הוֹצֵ֥א אֶת בִּנְ/ךָ֖ וְ/יָמֹ֑ת כִּ֤י נָתַץ֙ אֶת מִזְבַּ֣ח הַ/בַּ֔עַל וְ/כִ֥י כָרַ֖ת הָ/אֲשֵׁרָ֥ה אֲשֶׁר עָלָֽי/ו
And Ioash said vnto all that stood against him, Will ye pleade for Baal? will ye saue him? He that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilest it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himselfe, because one hath cast down his altar.
GenevaAnd Ioash said vnto all that stood by him, Will ye pleade Baals cause? or will ye saue him? he that will contend for him, let him dye or the morning. If he be God, let him pleade for himselfe against him that hath cast downe his altar.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר יוֹאָ֡שׁ לְ/כֹל֩ אֲשֶׁר עָמְד֨וּ עָלָ֜י/ו הַ/אַתֶּ֣ם תְּרִיב֣וּ/ן לַ/בַּ֗עַל אִם אַתֶּם֙ תּוֹשִׁיע֣וּ/ן אוֹת֔/וֹ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָרִ֥יב ל֛/וֹ יוּמַ֖ת עַד הַ/בֹּ֑קֶר אִם אֱלֹהִ֥ים הוּא֙ יָ֣רֶב ל֔/וֹ כִּ֥י נָתַ֖ץ אֶֽת מִזְבְּחֽ/וֹ
Therefore on that day hee called him Ierubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because hee hath throwen downe his altar.

וַ/יִּקְרָא ל֥/וֹ בַ/יּוֹם הַ/ה֖וּא יְרֻבַּ֣עַל לֵ/אמֹ֑ר יָ֤רֶב בּ/וֹ֙ הַ/בַּ֔עַל כִּ֥י נָתַ֖ץ אֶֽת מִזְבְּחֽ/וֹ
¶ Then all the Midianites, and the Amalekites, and the children of the East were gathered together, and went ouer, and pitched in the valley of Iezreel.

But the Spirit of the LORD came vpon Gideon, and hee blewe a trumpet, and Abiezer was gathered after him.

וְ/ר֣וּחַ יְהוָ֔ה לָבְשָׁ֖ה אֶת גִּדְע֑וֹן וַ/יִּתְקַע֙ בַּ/שּׁוֹפָ֔ר וַ/יִזָּעֵ֥ק אֲבִיעֶ֖זֶר אַחֲרָֽי/ו
And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh, who also was gathered after him, and hee sent messengers vnto Asher, and vnto Zebulun, and vnto Naphtali, and they came vp to meete them.

וּ/מַלְאָכִים֙ שָׁלַ֣ח בְּ/כָל מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה וַ/יִזָּעֵ֥ק גַּם ה֖וּא אַחֲרָ֑י/ו וּ/מַלְאָכִ֣ים שָׁלַ֗ח בְּ/אָשֵׁ֤ר וּ/בִ/זְבֻלוּן֙ וּ/בְ/נַפְתָּלִ֔י וַֽ/יַּעֲל֖וּ לִ/קְרָאתָֽ/ם
¶ And Gideon said vnto God, If thou wilt saue Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,

Beholde, I will put a fleece of wooll in the floore: and if the deaw be on the fleece onely, and it bee drie vpon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt saue Israel by my hande, as thou hast said.

הִנֵּ֣ה אָנֹכִ֗י מַצִּ֛יג אֶת גִּזַּ֥ת הַ/צֶּ֖מֶר בַּ/גֹּ֑רֶן אִ֡ם טַל֩ יִהְיֶ֨ה עַֽל הַ/גִּזָּ֜ה לְ/בַדָּ֗/הּ וְ/עַל כָּל הָ/אָ֨רֶץ֙ חֹ֔רֶב וְ/יָדַעְתִּ֗י כִּֽי תוֹשִׁ֧יעַ בְּ/יָדִ֛/י אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּֽרְתָּ
And it was so: for he rose vp early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the deaw out of the fleece, a bowle full of water.

וַ/יְהִי כֵ֕ן וַ/יַּשְׁכֵּם֙ מִֽ/מָּחֳרָ֔ת וַ/יָּ֖זַר אֶת הַ/גִּזָּ֑ה וַ/יִּ֤מֶץ טַל֙ מִן הַ/גִּזָּ֔ה מְל֥וֹא הַ/סֵּ֖פֶל מָֽיִם
And Gideon said vnto God, Let not thine anger be hote against me, and I will speake but this once: Let mee prooue, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece. Let it now be drie onely vpon the fleece, and vpon all the ground let there be deaw.
GenevaAgaine, Gideon sayde vnto God, Be not angry with me, that I may speake once more: let me prooue once againe, I pray thee, with the fleece: let it now be drie onely vpon the fleece, and let dewe be vpon all the ground.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר גִּדְעוֹן֙ אֶל הָ֣/אֱלֹהִ֔ים אַל יִ֤חַר אַפְּ/ךָ֙ בִּ֔/י וַ/אֲדַבְּרָ֖ה אַ֣ךְ הַ/פָּ֑עַם אֲנַסֶּ֤ה נָּא רַק הַ/פַּ֨עַם֙ בַּ/גִּזָּ֔ה יְהִי נָ֨א חֹ֤רֶב אֶל הַ/גִּזָּה֙ לְ/בַדָּ֔/הּ וְ/עַל כָּל הָ/אָ֖רֶץ יִֽהְיֶה טָּֽל
And God did so that night: for it was drie vpon the fleece onely, and there was deaw on all the ground.
