Chapter 8
Romans 8
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Iesus, who walke not after the flesh, but after the spirit.
GenevaNow then there is no condemnation to them that are in Christ Iesus, which walke not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For the law of the spirit of life, in Christ Iesus, hath made me free from the law of sinne and death.
GenevaFor the Lawe of the Spirite of life, which is in Christ Iesus, hath freed mee from the lawe of sinne and of death.
For what the law could not doe, in that it was weake through the flesh, God sending his owne Sonne, in the likenesse of sinnefull flesh, and for sinne condemned sinne in the flesh:
GenevaFor (that that was impossible to ye Lawe, in as much as it was weake, because of ye flesh) God sending his owne Sonne, in ye similitude of sinful flesh, and for sinne, condened sinne in the flesh,
That the righteousnesse of the law might be fulfilled in vs, who walke not after the flesh, but after the spirit.
GenevaThat that righteousnes of the Law might be fulfilled in vs, which walke not after ye flesh, but after the Spirit.
For they that are after the flesh, doe minde the things of the flesh: but they that are after the spirit, the things of the spirit.
GenevaFor they that are after the flesh, sauour the things of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded, is death: but to be spiritually minded, is life and peace:
GenevaFor the wisedome of the flesh is death: but the wisedome of the Spirit is life and peace,
Because the carnall minde is enmitie against God: for it is not subiect to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
GenevaBecause the wisedome of the flesh is enimitie against God: for it is not subiect to the Lawe of God, neither in deede can be.
So then they that are in the flesh, cannot please God.
GenevaSo then they that are in the flesh, can not please God.
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if so be that the spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man haue not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
GenevaNow ye are not in the flesh, but in ye Spirit, because ye spirit of God dwelleth in you: but if any man hath not ye Spirit of Christ, ye same is not his.
And if Christ in you, the body is dead because of sinne: but the spirit is life, because of righteousnesse.
GenevaAnd if Christ bee in you, the body is dead, because of sinne: but the Spirite is life for righteousnesse sake.
But if the spirit of him that raised vp Iesus from the dead, dwell in you: he that raised vp Christ from the dead, shall also quicken your mortall bodies, by his spirit that dwelleth in you.
GenevaBut if the Spirit of him that raised vp Iesus from the dead, dwell in you, he that raised vp Christ from the dead, shall also quicken your mortall bodies, by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Therfore brethren, we are detters, not to the flesh, to liue after the flesh.
GenevaTherefore brethren, wee are detters not to the flesh, to liue after the flesh:
For if ye liue after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the spirit doe mortifie the deeds of the body, ye shall liue.
GenevaFor if ye liue after the flesh, ye shall die: but if yee mortifie the deedes of the body by the Spirit, ye shall liue.
For as many as are led by the spirit of God, they are the sonnes of God.
GenevaFor as many as are ledde by the Spirit of God, they are the sonnes of God.
For ye haue not receiued the spirit of bondage againe to feare: but ye haue receiued the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, father.
GenevaFor ye haue not receiued the Spirit of bodage, to feare againe: but ye haue receiued the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, Father.
The spirit it selfe beareth witnes with our spirit, that we are the children of God.
GenevaThe same Spirit beareth witnesse with our spirit, that we are the children of God.
And if children, then heires, heires of God, and ioynt heires with Christ: if so be that we suffer with him, that wee may be also glorified together.
GenevaIf we be children, we are also heires, euen the heires of God, and heires annexed with Christ: if so be that we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.
For I reckon, that the sufferings of this present time, are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be reuealed in vs.
GenevaFor I count that the afflictions of this present time are not worthy of the glory, which shalbe shewed vnto vs.
For the earnest expectation of the creature, waiteth for the manifestation of the sonnes of God.
GenevaFor the feruent desire of the creature waiteth when the sonnes of God shalbe reueiled,
For the creature was made subiect to vanitie, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subiected the same in hope:
GenevaBecause the creature is subiect to vanitie, not of it owne will, but by reason of him, which hath subdued it vnder hope,
Because the creature it selfe also shall bee deliuered from the bondage of corruption, into the glorious libertie of the children of God.
GenevaBecause the creature also shall be deliuered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious libertie of the sonnes of God.
For wee know that the whole creation groaneth, and trauaileth in paine together vntill now.
GenevaFor we knowe that euery creature groneth with vs also, and trauaileth in paine together vnto this present.
And not only they, but our selues also which haue the first fruites of the spirit, euen we our selues groane within our selues, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
GenevaAnd not onely the creature, but we also which haue the first fruites of the Spirit, euen we doe sigh in our selues, waiting for the adoption, euen the redemption of our body.
For wee are saued by hope: but hope that is seene, is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
GenevaFor we are saued by hope: but hope that is seene, is not hope: for how can a man hope for that which he seeth?
τῇ γὰρ ἐλπίδι ἐσώθημεν· ἐλπὶς δὲ βλεπομένη οὐκ ἔστιν ἐλπίς, ὃ γὰρ βλέπει τίς ἐλπίζει;
But if wee hope for that wee see not, then doe wee with patience waite for it.
GenevaBut if we hope for that we see not, we doe with patience abide for it.
Likewise the spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what wee should pray for as wee ought: but the spirit it selfe maketh intercession for vs with groanings, which cannot bee vttered.
GenevaLikewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we knowe not what to pray as wee ought: but the Spirit it selfe maketh request for vs with sighs, which cannot be expressed.
And he that searcheth the hearts, knoweth what is the minde of the spirit, because he maketh intercession for the Saints, according to the will of God.
GenevaBut he that searcheth the heartes, knoweth what is the meaning of the Spirit: for he maketh request for ye Saints, according to the wil of God.
And wee know that all things worke together for good, to them that loue God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
GenevaAlso we knowe that all thinges worke together for the best vnto them that loue God, euen to them that are called of his purpose.
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his sonne, that hee might bee the first borne amongst many brethren.
GenevaFor those which hee knewe before, he also predestinate to bee made like to the image of his Sonne, that hee might be the first borne among many brethren.
Moreouer, whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also iustified: and whom he iustified, them he also glorified.
GenevaMoreouer whom he predestinate, them also he called, and whom he called, them also he iustified, and whom he iustified, them he also glorified.
What shall wee then say to these things? If God be for vs, who can bee against vs?
GenevaWhat shall we then say to these thinges? If God be on our side, who can be against vs?
Τί οὖν ἐροῦμεν πρὸς ταῦτα; εἰ ὁ θεὸς ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν, τίς καθ’ ἡμῶν;
He that spared not his owne son, but deliuered him vp for vs all: how shall hee not with him also freely giue vs all things?
GenevaWho spared not his owne Sonne, but gaue him for vs all to death, how shall he not with him giue vs all things also?
ὅς γε τοῦ ἰδίου υἱοῦ οὐκ ἐφείσατο, ἀλλὰ ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν πάντων παρέδωκεν αὐτόν, πῶς οὐχὶ καὶ σὺν αὐτῷ τὰ πάντα ἡμῖν χαρίσεται;
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of Gods elect? It is God that iustifieth:
GenevaWho shall lay any thing to the charge of Gods chosen? it is God that iustifieth,
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather that is risen againe, who is euen at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for vs.
GenevaWho shall condemne? it is Christ which is dead, yea, or rather, which is risen againe, who is also at the right hand of God, and maketh request also for vs.
Who shall separate vs from the loue of Christ? shall tribulation, or distresse, or persecution, or famine, or nakednesse, or perill, or sword?
GenevaWho shall separate vs from the loue of Christ? shall tribulation or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakednesse, or perill, or sworde?
τίς ἡμᾶς χωρίσει ἀπὸ τῆς ἀγάπης τοῦ Χριστοῦ; θλῖψις ἢ στενοχωρία ἢ διωγμὸς ἢ λιμὸς ἢ γυμνότης ἢ κίνδυνος ἢ μάχαιρα;
(As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long, wee are accounted as sheepe for the slaughter.)
GenevaAs it is written, For thy sake are we killed all day long: we are counted as sheepe for the slaughter.
Nay in all these things wee are more then conquerours, through him that loued vs.
GenevaNeuerthelesse, in all these thinges we are more then coquerours through him that loued vs.
For I am perswaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
GenevaFor I am perswaded that neither death, nor life, nor Angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shalbe able to separate vs from the loue of God, which is in Christ Iesus our Lord.
GenevaNor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shalbe able to separate vs from the loue of God, which is in Christ Iesus our Lord.
