Chapter 94
Psalms 94
O LORD God, to whome vengeance belongeth: O God to whome vengeance belongeth, shew thy selfe.
GenevaO Lord God the auenger, O God the auenger, shewe thy selfe clearely.
אֵל נְקָמ֥וֹת יְהוָ֑ה אֵ֖ל נְקָמ֣וֹת הוֹפִֽיַע
Lift vp thy selfe, thou iudge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
GenevaExalt thy selfe, O Iudge of the worlde, and render a reward to the proude.
הִ֭נָּשֵׂא שֹׁפֵ֣ט הָ/אָ֑רֶץ הָשֵׁ֥ב גְּ֝מ֗וּל עַל גֵּאִֽים
LORD, how long shall the wicked? how long shall the wicked triumph?
GenevaLord how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
עַד מָתַ֖י רְשָׁעִ֥ים יְהוָ֑ה עַד מָ֝תַ֗י רְשָׁעִ֥ים יַעֲלֹֽזוּ
How long shal they vtter, and speake hard things? and all the workers of iniquitie boast themselues?
GenevaThey prate and speake fiercely: all the workers of iniquitie vaunt themselues.
יַבִּ֣יעוּ יְדַבְּר֣וּ עָתָ֑ק יִֽ֝תְאַמְּר֗וּ כָּל פֹּ֥עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן
They breake in pieces thy people, O LORD: and afflict thine heritage.
GenevaThey smite downe thy people, O Lord, and trouble thine heritage.
עַמְּ/ךָ֣ יְהוָ֣ה יְדַכְּא֑וּ וְֽ/נַחֲלָתְ/ךָ֥ יְעַנּֽוּ
They slay the widowe and the stranger: and murder the fatherlesse.

אַ֭לְמָנָה וְ/גֵ֣ר יַהֲרֹ֑גוּ וִֽ/יתוֹמִ֣ים יְרַצֵּֽחוּ
Yet they say, The LORD shall not see: neither shall the God of Iacob regard it.

וַ֭/יֹּ֣אמְרוּ לֹ֣א יִרְאֶה יָּ֑הּ וְ/לֹא יָ֝בִ֗ין אֱלֹהֵ֥י יַעֲקֹֽב
Understand, yee brutish among the people: and ye fooles, when will ye be wise?
GenevaVnderstande ye vnwise among the people: and ye fooles, when will ye be wise?
בִּ֭ינוּ בֹּעֲרִ֣ים בָּ/עָ֑ם וּ֝/כְסִילִ֗ים מָתַ֥י תַּשְׂכִּֽילוּ
He that planted the eare, shall he not heare? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
GenevaHee that planted the eare, shall hee not heare? or he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
הֲ/נֹ֣טַֽע אֹ֭זֶן הֲ/לֹ֣א יִשְׁמָ֑ע אִֽם יֹ֥צֵֽר עַ֝֗יִן הֲ/לֹ֣א יַבִּֽיט
He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? hee that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
GenevaOr he that chastiseth the nations, shall he not correct? hee that teacheth man knowledge, shall he not knowe?
הֲ/יֹסֵ֣ר גּ֭וֹיִם הֲ/לֹ֣א יוֹכִ֑יחַ הַֽ/מְלַמֵּ֖ד אָדָ֣ם דָּֽעַת
The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man: that they are vanitie.
GenevaThe Lord knoweth the thoughtes of man, that they are vanitie.
יְֽהוָ֗ה יֹ֭דֵעַ מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת אָדָ֑ם כִּי הֵ֥מָּה הָֽבֶל
Blessed is the man whome thou chastenest, O LORD: and teachest him out of thy Law:
GenevaBlessed is the man, whom thou chastisest, O Lord, and teachest him in thy Lawe,
אַשְׁרֵ֤י הַ/גֶּ֣בֶר אֲשֶׁר תְּיַסְּרֶ֣/נּוּ יָּ֑הּ וּֽ/מִ/תּוֹרָתְ/ךָ֥ תְלַמְּדֶֽ/נּוּ
That thou mayest giue him rest from the dayes of aduersitie: vntill the pit be digged for the wicked.
GenevaThat thou mayest giue him rest from the dayes of euill, whiles the pitte is digged for the wicked.
לְ/הַשְׁקִ֣יט ל֭/וֹ מִ֣/ימֵי רָ֑ע עַ֤ד יִכָּרֶ֖ה לָ/רָשָׁ֣ע שָֽׁחַת
For the LORD will not cast off his people: neither will he forsake his inheritance.
GenevaSurely the Lord will not faile his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
כִּ֤י לֹא יִטֹּ֣שׁ יְהוָ֣ה עַמּ֑/וֹ וְ֝/נַחֲלָת֗/וֹ לֹ֣א יַעֲזֹֽב
But iudgement shall returne vnto righteousnesse: and all the vpright in heart shall follow it.
GenevaFor iudgement shall returne to iustice, and all the vpright in heart shall follow after it.
כִּֽי עַד צֶ֭דֶק יָשׁ֣וּב מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וְ֝/אַחֲרָ֗י/ו כָּל יִשְׁרֵי לֵֽב
Who will rise vp for mee against the euill doers? or who will stand vp for me against the workers of iniquitie?
GenevaWho will rise vp with me against the wicked? or who will take my part against the workers of iniquitie?
מִֽי יָק֣וּם לִ֭/י עִם מְרֵעִ֑ים מִֽי יִתְיַצֵּ֥ב לִ֝/י עִם פֹּ֥עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן
Unlesse the LORD had bene my helpe: my soule had almost dwelt in silence.
GenevaIf the Lord had not holpen me, my soule had almost dwelt in silence.
לוּלֵ֣י יְ֭הוָה עֶזְרָ֣תָ/ה לִּ֑/י כִּ/מְעַ֓ט שָֽׁכְנָ֖ה דוּמָ֣ה נַפְשִֽׁ/י
When I said, My foote slippeth: thy mercie, O LORD, held me vp.
GenevaWhen I said, My foote slideth, thy mercy, O Lord, stayed me.
אִם אָ֭מַרְתִּי מָ֣טָה רַגְלִ֑/י חַסְדְּ/ךָ֥ יְ֝הוָ֗ה יִסְעָדֵֽ/נִי
In the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soule.
GenevaIn the multitude of my thoughts in mine heart, thy comfortes haue reioyced my soule.
בְּ/רֹ֣ב שַׂרְעַפַּ֣/י בְּ/קִרְבִּ֑/י תַּ֝נְחוּמֶ֗י/ךָ יְֽשַׁעַשְׁע֥וּ נַפְשִֽׁ/י
Shal the throne of iniquitie haue fellowship with thee: which frameth mischiefe by a lawe?
GenevaHath the throne of iniquitie fellowship with thee, which forgeth wrong for a Lawe?
הַֽ֭/יְחָבְרְ/ךָ כִּסֵּ֣א הַוּ֑וֹת יֹצֵ֖ר עָמָ֣ל עֲלֵי חֹֽק
They gather themselues together against the soule of the righteous: and condemne the innocent blood.
GenevaThey gather them together against the soule of the righteous, and condemne the innocent blood.
יָ֭גוֹדּוּ עַל נֶ֣פֶשׁ צַדִּ֑יק וְ/דָ֖ם נָקִ֣י יַרְשִֽׁיעוּ
But the LORD is my defence: and my God is the rocke of my refuge.
GenevaBut the Lord is my refuge, and my God is the rocke of mine hope.
וַ/יְהִ֬י יְהוָ֣ה לִ֣/י לְ/מִשְׂגָּ֑ב וֵ֝/אלֹהַ֗/י לְ/צ֣וּר מַחְסִֽ/י
And hee shall bring vpon them their owne iniquitie, and shall cut them off in their owne wickednesse: yea the LORD our God shall cut them off.
GenevaAnd hee will recompence them their wickednes, and destroy them in their owne malice: yea, the Lord our God shall destroy them.
וַ/יָּ֤שֶׁב עֲלֵי/הֶ֨ם אֶת אוֹנָ֗/ם וּ/בְ/רָעָתָ֥/ם יַצְמִיתֵ֑/ם יַ֝צְמִיתֵ֗/ם יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽי/נוּ
