Chapter 137
Psalms 137
By the riuers of Babylon, there wee sate downe, yea we wept: when we remembred Zion.
GenevaBy the riuers of Babel we sate, and there wee wept, when we remembred Zion.
עַ֥ל נַהֲר֨וֹת בָּבֶ֗ל שָׁ֣ם יָ֭שַׁבְנוּ גַּם בָּכִ֑ינוּ בְּ֝/זָכְרֵ֗/נוּ אֶת צִיּֽוֹן
Wee hanged our harpes vpon the willowes, in the midst thereof.
GenevaWee hanged our harpes vpon the willowes in the middes thereof.
עַֽל עֲרָבִ֥ים בְּ/תוֹכָ֑/הּ תָּ֝לִ֗ינוּ כִּנֹּרוֹתֵֽי/נוּ
For there they that carried vs away captiue, required of vs a song, and they that wasted vs, required of vs mirth: saying, Sing vs one of the songs of Zion.
GenevaThen they that ledde vs captiues, required of vs songs and mirth, when wee had hanged vp our harpes, saying, Sing vs one of the songs of Zion.
כִּ֤י שָׁ֨ם שְֽׁאֵל֪וּ/נוּ שׁוֹבֵ֡י/נוּ דִּבְרֵי שִׁ֭יר וְ/תוֹלָלֵ֣י/נוּ שִׂמְחָ֑ה שִׁ֥ירוּ לָ֝֗/נוּ מִ/שִּׁ֥יר צִיּֽוֹן
How shall we sing the LORDs song: in a strange land?
GenevaHowe shall we sing, said we, a song of the Lord in a strange land?
אֵ֗יךְ נָשִׁ֥יר אֶת שִׁיר יְהוָ֑ה עַ֝֗ל אַדְמַ֥ת נֵכָֽר
If I forget thee, O Ierusalem: let my right hand forget her cunning.
GenevaIf I forget thee, O Ierusalem, let my right hand forget to play.
אִֽם אֶשְׁכָּחֵ֥/ךְ יְֽרוּשָׁלִָ֗ם תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח יְמִינִֽ/י
If I doe not remember thee, let my tongue cleaue to the roofe of my mouth; if I preferre not Ierusalem aboue my chiefe ioy.
GenevaIf I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleaue to the roofe of my mouth: yea, if I preferre not Ierusalem to my chiefe ioy.
תִּדְבַּ֥ק לְשׁוֹנִ֨/י לְ/חִכִּ/י֮ אִם לֹ֪א אֶ֫זְכְּרֵ֥/כִי אִם לֹ֣א אַ֭עֲלֶה אֶת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֑ם עַ֝֗ל רֹ֣אשׁ שִׂמְחָתִֽ/י
Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom, in the day of Ierusalem; who sayd, rase it, rase it: euen to the foundation thereof.
GenevaRemember the children of Edom, O Lord, in the day of Ierusalem, which saide, Rase it, rase it to the foundation thereof.
זְכֹ֤ר יְהוָ֨ה לִ/בְנֵ֬י אֱד֗וֹם אֵת֮ י֤וֹם יְֽרוּשָׁ֫לִָ֥ם הָ֭/אֹ֣מְרִים עָ֤רוּ עָ֑רוּ עַ֝֗ד הַ/יְס֥וֹד בָּֽ/הּ
O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed: happy shall he be that rewardeth thee, as thou hast serued vs.
GenevaO daughter of Babel, worthy to be destroyed, blessed shall he be that rewardeth thee, as thou hast serued vs.
בַּת בָּבֶ֗ל הַ/שְּׁד֫וּדָ֥ה אַשְׁרֵ֥י שֶׁ/יְשַׁלֶּם לָ֑/ךְ אֶת גְּ֝מוּלֵ֗/ךְ שֶׁ/גָּמַ֥לְתְּ לָֽ/נוּ
Happy shall he be that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
GenevaBlessed shall he be that taketh and dasheth thy children against the stones.
אַשְׁרֵ֤י שֶׁ/יֹּאחֵ֓ז וְ/נִפֵּ֬ץ אֶֽת עֹ֝לָלַ֗יִ/ךְ אֶל הַ/סָּֽלַע
