Leviticus 25
And the LORD spake vnto Moses in Mount Sinai, saying,
GenevaAnd the Lord spake vnto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,
וַ/יְדַבֵּ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֶל מֹשֶׁ֔ה בְּ/הַ֥ר סִינַ֖י לֵ/אמֹֽר
Speake vnto the children of Israel, and say vnto them: when yee come into the land which I giue you, then shall the land keepe a Sabbath vnto the LORD.
GenevaSpeake vnto the children of Israel, and say vnto them, When ye shall come into the lande which I giue you, the lande shall keepe Sabbath vnto the Lord.
דַּבֵּ֞ר אֶל בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וְ/אָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵ/הֶ֔ם כִּ֤י תָבֹ֨אוּ֙ אֶל הָ/אָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲנִ֖י נֹתֵ֣ן לָ/כֶ֑ם וְ/שָׁבְתָ֣ה הָ/אָ֔רֶץ שַׁבָּ֖ת לַ/יהוָֽה
Sixe yeeres thou shalt sow thy field, and sixe yeeres thou shalt prune thy Uineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof.
GenevaSixe yeeres thou shalt sowe thy field, and sixe yeeres thou shalt cut thy vineyarde, and gather the fruite thereof.
שֵׁ֤שׁ שָׁנִים֙ תִּזְרַ֣ע שָׂדֶ֔/ךָ וְ/שֵׁ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים תִּזְמֹ֣ר כַּרְמֶ֑/ךָ וְ/אָסַפְתָּ֖ אֶת תְּבוּאָתָֽ/הּ
But in the seuenth yeere shalbe a Sabbath of rest vnto the land, a Sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy Uineyard.
GenevaBut the seuenth yeere shalbe a Sabbath of rest vnto the lande: it shall be the Lordes Sabbath: thou shalt neither sowe thy fielde, nor cut thy vineyarde.
וּ/בַ/שָּׁנָ֣ה הַ/שְּׁבִיעִ֗ת שַׁבַּ֤ת שַׁבָּתוֹן֙ יִהְיֶ֣ה לָ/אָ֔רֶץ שַׁבָּ֖ת לַ/יהוָ֑ה שָֽׂדְ/ךָ֙ לֹ֣א תִזְרָ֔ע וְ/כַרְמְ/ךָ֖ לֹ֥א תִזְמֹֽר
That which groweth of it owne accord of thy haruest, thou shalt not reape, neither gather the grapes of thy Uine vndressed: for it is a yeere of rest vnto the land.
GenevaThat which groweth of it owne accorde of thy haruest, thou shalt not reape, neither gather the grapes that thou hast left vnlaboured: for it shalbe a yeere of rest vnto the land.
אֵ֣ת סְפִ֤יחַ קְצִֽירְ/ךָ֙ לֹ֣א תִקְצ֔וֹר וְ/אֶת עִנְּבֵ֥י נְזִירֶ֖/ךָ לֹ֣א תִבְצֹ֑ר שְׁנַ֥ת שַׁבָּת֖וֹן יִהְיֶ֥ה לָ/אָֽרֶץ
And the Sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy seruant, and for thy mayd, and for thy hired seruant, and for the stranger that soiourneth with thee,
GenevaAnd the rest of the lande shall be meate for you, euen for thee, and for thy seruant, and for thy mayde, and for thy hired seruant, and for the stranger that soiourneth with thee:
וְ֠/הָיְתָה שַׁבַּ֨ת הָ/אָ֤רֶץ לָ/כֶם֙ לְ/אָכְלָ֔ה לְ/ךָ֖ וּ/לְ/עַבְדְּ/ךָ֣ וְ/לַ/אֲמָתֶ֑/ךָ וְ/לִ/שְׂכִֽירְ/ךָ֙ וּ/לְ/תוֹשָׁ֣בְ/ךָ֔ הַ/גָּרִ֖ים עִמָּֽ/ךְ
And for thy cattel, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the encrease thereof be meat.
GenevaAnd for thy cattell, and for the beastes that are in thy lande shall all the encrease thereof be meate.
וְ/לִ֨/בְהֶמְתְּ/ךָ֔ וְ/לַֽ/חַיָּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּ/אַרְצֶ֑/ךָ תִּהְיֶ֥ה כָל תְּבוּאָתָ֖/הּ לֶ/אֱכֹֽל
¶ And thou shalt number seuen Sabbaths of yeeres vnto thee, seuen times seuen yeeres, and the space of the seuen Sabbaths of yeeres, shall be vnto thee fourtie and nine yeeres.
GenevaAlso thou shalt number seuen Sabbaths of yeeres vnto thee, euen seuen times seuen yeere: and the space of the seuen Sabbaths of yeeres will be vnto thee nine and fourtie yeere.
וְ/סָפַרְתָּ֣ לְ/ךָ֗ שֶׁ֚בַע שַׁבְּתֹ֣ת שָׁנִ֔ים שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִ֖ים שֶׁ֣בַע פְּעָמִ֑ים וְ/הָי֣וּ לְ/ךָ֗ יְמֵי֙ שֶׁ֚בַע שַׁבְּתֹ֣ת הַ/שָּׁנִ֔ים תֵּ֥שַׁע וְ/אַרְבָּעִ֖ים שָׁנָֽה
Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the Iubile to sound, on the tenth day of the seuenth moneth; in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.
GenevaThen thou shalt cause to blow the trumpet of the Iubile in the tenth day of the seuenth moneth: euen in the day of the reconciliation shall ye make the trumpet blowe, throughout all your lande.
וְ/הַֽעֲבַרְתָּ֞ שׁוֹפַ֤ר תְּרוּעָה֙ בַּ/חֹ֣דֶשׁ הַ/שְּׁבִעִ֔י בֶּ/עָשׂ֖וֹר לַ/חֹ֑דֶשׁ בְּ/יוֹם֙ הַ/כִּפֻּרִ֔ים תַּעֲבִ֥ירוּ שׁוֹפָ֖ר בְּ/כָל אַרְצְ/כֶֽם
And ye shall hallow the fiftieth yeere, and proclaime libertie throughout all the land, vnto al the inhabitants thereof: It shalbe a Iubile vnto you, and ye shall returne euery man vnto his possession, and ye shall returne euery man vnto his family.
GenevaAnd ye shall halowe that yeere, euen the fiftieth yeere, and proclaime libertie in the lande to all the inhabitants thereof: it shalbe the Iubile vnto you, and ye shall returne euery man vnto his possession, and euery man shall returne vnto his familie.
וְ/קִדַּשְׁתֶּ֗ם אֵ֣ת שְׁנַ֤ת הַ/חֲמִשִּׁים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּ/קְרָאתֶ֥ם דְּר֛וֹר בָּ/אָ֖רֶץ לְ/כָל יֹשְׁבֶ֑י/הָ יוֹבֵ֥ל הִוא֙ תִּהְיֶ֣ה לָ/כֶ֔ם וְ/שַׁבְתֶּ֗ם אִ֚ישׁ אֶל אֲחֻזָּת֔/וֹ וְ/אִ֥ישׁ אֶל מִשְׁפַּחְתּ֖/וֹ תָּשֻֽׁבוּ
A Iubile shall that fiftieth yeere be vnto you: Ye shall not sow, neither reape that which groweth of it selfe in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy Uine vndressed.
GenevaThis fiftieth yeere shalbe a yeere of Iubile vnto you: ye shall not sowe, neither reape that which groweth of it selfe, neither gather the grapes thereof, that are left vnlaboured.
יוֹבֵ֣ל הִ֗וא שְׁנַ֛ת הַ/חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה תִּהְיֶ֣ה לָ/כֶ֑ם לֹ֣א תִזְרָ֔עוּ וְ/לֹ֤א תִקְצְרוּ֙ אֶת סְפִיחֶ֔י/הָ וְ/לֹ֥א תִבְצְר֖וּ אֶת נְזִרֶֽי/הָ
For it is the Iubile, it shall be holy vnto you: ye shall eate the encrease thereof out of the field.
GenevaFor it is the Iubile, it shall be holy vnto you: ye shall eate of the encrease thereof out of the fielde.
כִּ֚י יוֹבֵ֣ל הִ֔וא קֹ֖דֶשׁ תִּהְיֶ֣ה לָ/כֶ֑ם מִן הַ֨/שָּׂדֶ֔ה תֹּאכְל֖וּ אֶת תְּבוּאָתָֽ/הּ
In the yeere of this Iubile yee shall returne euery man vnto his possession.
GenevaIn the yeere of this Iubile, ye shall returne euery man vnto his possession.
בִּ/שְׁנַ֥ת הַ/יּוֹבֵ֖ל הַ/זֹּ֑את תָּשֻׁ֕בוּ אִ֖ישׁ אֶל אֲחֻזָּתֽ/וֹ
And if thou sell ought vnto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbours hand, ye shall not oppresse one another.
GenevaAnd when thou sellest ought to thy neighbour, or byest at thy neighbours hande, ye shall not oppresse one another:
וְ/כִֽי תִמְכְּר֤וּ מִמְכָּר֙ לַ/עֲמִיתֶ֔/ךָ א֥וֹ קָנֹ֖ה מִ/יַּ֣ד עֲמִיתֶ֑/ךָ אַל תּוֹנ֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ אֶת אָחִֽי/ו
According to the number of yeres after the Iubile, thou shalt buy of thy neighbour, and according vnto the number of yeeres of the fruits, he shall sell vnto thee.
GenevaBut according to the nomber of yeeres after the Iubile thou shalt bye of thy neighbour: also according to the nomber of the yeeres of the reuenues, he shall sell vnto thee.
בְּ/מִסְפַּ֤ר שָׁנִים֙ אַחַ֣ר הַ/יּוֹבֵ֔ל תִּקְנֶ֖ה מֵ/אֵ֣ת עֲמִיתֶ֑/ךָ בְּ/מִסְפַּ֥ר שְׁנֵֽי תְבוּאֹ֖ת יִמְכָּר לָֽ/ךְ
According to the multitude of yeeres, thou shalt encrease the price thereof, and according to the fewnesse of yeeres, thou shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the yeeres of the fruites doeth hee sell vnto thee.
GenevaAccording to the multitude of yeeres, thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewnesse of yeeres, thou shalt abate the price of it: for the nomber of fruites doeth he sell vnto thee.
לְ/פִ֣י רֹ֣ב הַ/שָּׁנִ֗ים תַּרְבֶּה֙ מִקְנָת֔/וֹ וּ/לְ/פִי֙ מְעֹ֣ט הַ/שָּׁנִ֔ים תַּמְעִ֖יט מִקְנָת֑/וֹ כִּ֚י מִסְפַּ֣ר תְּבוּאֹ֔ת ה֥וּא מֹכֵ֖ר לָֽ/ךְ
Yee shall not therefore oppresse one another; but thou shalt feare thy God: For I am the LORD your God.
GenevaOppresse not ye therefore any man his neighbour, but thou shalt feare thy God: for I am the Lord your God.
וְ/לֹ֤א תוֹנוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֶת עֲמִית֔/וֹ וְ/יָרֵ֖אתָ מֵֽ/אֱלֹהֶ֑י/ךָ כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵי/כֶֽם
¶ Wherefore ye shall do my Statutes, and keepe my Iudgements, and doe them, and ye shall dwell in the land in safetie.
GenevaWherefore ye shall obey mine ordinances, and keepe my lawes, and do them, and ye shall dwell in the land in safetie.
וַ/עֲשִׂיתֶם֙ אֶת חֻקֹּתַ֔/י וְ/אֶת מִשְׁפָּטַ֥/י תִּשְׁמְר֖וּ וַ/עֲשִׂיתֶ֣ם אֹתָ֑/ם וִֽ/ישַׁבְתֶּ֥ם עַל הָ/אָ֖רֶץ לָ/בֶֽטַח
And the land shall yeeld her fruit, and ye shal eat your fill, and dwell therin in safetie.
GenevaAnd the lande shall giue her fruite, and ye shall eate your fill, and dwell therein in safetie.
וְ/נָתְנָ֤ה הָ/אָ֨רֶץ֙ פִּרְיָ֔/הּ וַ/אֲכַלְתֶּ֖ם לָ/שֹׂ֑בַע וִֽ/ישַׁבְתֶּ֥ם לָ/בֶ֖טַח עָלֶֽי/הָ
And if ye shall say, What shall we eate the seuenth yeere? Behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase:
GenevaAnd if ye shall say, What shall we eate the seuenth yeere, for we shall not sowe, nor gather in our increase?
וְ/כִ֣י תֹאמְר֔וּ מַה נֹּאכַ֤֖ל בַּ/שָּׁנָ֣ה הַ/שְּׁבִיעִ֑ת הֵ֚ן לֹ֣א נִזְרָ֔ע וְ/לֹ֥א נֶאֱסֹ֖ף אֶת תְּבוּאָתֵֽ/נוּ
Then I will command my blessing vpon you in the sixt yeere, and it shall bring forth fruit for three yeeres.
GenevaI will sende my blessing vpon you in the sixt yeere, and it shall bring foorth fruite for three yeeres.
וְ/צִוִּ֤יתִי אֶת בִּרְכָתִ/י֙ לָ/כֶ֔ם בַּ/שָּׁנָ֖ה הַ/שִּׁשִּׁ֑ית וְ/עָשָׂת֙ אֶת הַ/תְּבוּאָ֔ה לִ/שְׁלֹ֖שׁ הַ/שָּׁנִֽים
And ye shall sow the eight yeere, and eat yet of old fruit, vntill the ninth yeere: vntill her fruits come in, ye shall eate of the old store.
GenevaAnd ye shall sowe the eight yeere, and eate of the olde fruite vntill the ninth yeere: vntill the fruite thereof come, ye shall eate the olde.
וּ/זְרַעְתֶּ֗ם אֵ֚ת הַ/שָּׁנָ֣ה הַ/שְּׁמִינִ֔ת וַ/אֲכַלְתֶּ֖ם מִן הַ/תְּבוּאָ֣ה יָשָׁ֑ן עַ֣ד הַ/שָּׁנָ֣ה הַ/תְּשִׁיעִ֗ת עַד בּוֹא֙ תְּב֣וּאָתָ֔/הּ תֹּאכְל֖וּ יָשָֽׁן
¶ The land shall not be sold for euer: for the land is mine, for ye were strangers and soiourners with me.
GenevaAlso the lande shall not be solde to be cut off from the familie: for the land is mine, and ye be but strangers and soiourners with me.
וְ/הָ/אָ֗רֶץ לֹ֤א תִמָּכֵר֙ לִ/צְמִתֻ֔ת כִּי לִ֖/י הָ/אָ֑רֶץ כִּֽי גֵרִ֧ים וְ/תוֹשָׁבִ֛ים אַתֶּ֖ם עִמָּדִֽ/י
And in all the land of your possession, ye shall grant a redemption for the land.
GenevaTherefore in all the land of your possession ye shall graunt a redemption for the lande.
וּ/בְ/כֹ֖ל אֶ֣רֶץ אֲחֻזַּתְ/כֶ֑ם גְּאֻלָּ֖ה תִּתְּנ֥וּ לָ/אָֽרֶץ
¶ If thy brother be waxen poore, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kinne come to redeeme it, then shall hee redeeme that which his brother sold.
GenevaIf thy brother be impouerished, and sell his possession, then his redeemer shall come, euen his neere kinsman, and bye out that which his brother solde.
כִּֽי יָמ֣וּךְ אָחִ֔י/ךָ וּ/מָכַ֖ר מֵ/אֲחֻזָּת֑/וֹ וּ/בָ֤א גֹֽאֲל/וֹ֙ הַ/קָּרֹ֣ב אֵלָ֔י/ו וְ/גָאַ֕ל אֵ֖ת מִמְכַּ֥ר אָחִֽי/ו
And if the man haue none to redeeme it, and himselfe bee able to redeeme it:
GenevaAnd if he haue no redeemer, but hath gotten and founde to bye it out,
וְ/אִ֕ישׁ כִּ֛י לֹ֥א יִֽהְיֶה לּ֖/וֹ גֹּאֵ֑ל וְ/הִשִּׂ֣יגָה יָד֔/וֹ וּ/מָצָ֖א כְּ/דֵ֥י גְאֻלָּתֽ/וֹ
Then let him count the yeeres of the sale therof, and restore the ouerplus vnto the man, to whom he sold it, that he may returne vnto his possession.
GenevaThen shall he count the yeeres of his sale, and restore the ouerplus to the man, to whome he solde it: so shall he returne to his possession.
וְ/חִשַּׁב֙ אֶת שְׁנֵ֣י מִמְכָּר֔/וֹ וְ/הֵשִׁיב֙ אֶת הָ֣/עֹדֵ֔ף לָ/אִ֖ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָֽכַר ל֑/וֹ וְ/שָׁ֖ב לַ/אֲחֻזָּתֽ/וֹ
But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold, shall remaine in the hand of him that hath bought it, vntill the yeere of Iubile: and in the Iubile it shall goe out, and he shall returne vnto his possession.
GenevaBut if he can not get sufficient to restore to him, then that which is solde, shall remaine in the hande of him that hath bought it, vntill the yere of the Iubile: and in the Iubile it shall come out, and he shall returne vnto his possession.
וְ/אִ֨ם לֹֽא מָֽצְאָ֜ה יָד֗/וֹ דֵּי֮ הָשִׁ֣יב ל/וֹ֒ וְ/הָיָ֣ה מִמְכָּר֗/וֹ בְּ/יַד֙ הַ/קֹּנֶ֣ה אֹת֔/וֹ עַ֖ד שְׁנַ֣ת הַ/יּוֹבֵ֑ל וְ/יָצָא֙ בַּ/יֹּבֵ֔ל וְ/שָׁ֖ב לַ/אֲחֻזָּתֽ/וֹ
And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled citie, then he may redeeme it within a whole yeere after it is solde: within a full yeere may he redeeme it.
GenevaLikewise if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled citie, he may bye it out againe within a whole yeere after it is solde: within a yeere may he bye it out.
וְ/אִ֗ישׁ כִּֽי יִמְכֹּ֤ר בֵּית מוֹשַׁב֙ עִ֣יר חוֹמָ֔ה וְ/הָיְתָה֙ גְּאֻלָּת֔/וֹ עַד תֹּ֖ם שְׁנַ֣ת מִמְכָּר֑/וֹ יָמִ֖ים תִּהְיֶ֥ה גְאֻלָּתֽ/וֹ
And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full yeere, then the house that is in the walled citie, shall be stablished for euer to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not goe out in the Iubile.
GenevaBut if it be not bought out within ye space of a ful yeere, then the house that is in the walled citie, shalbe stablished, as cut off from the familie, to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not goe out in the Iubile.
וְ/אִ֣ם לֹֽא יִגָּאֵ֗ל עַד מְלֹ֣את ל/וֹ֮ שָׁנָ֣ה תְמִימָה֒ וְ֠/קָם הַ/בַּ֨יִת אֲשֶׁר בָּ/עִ֜יר אֲשֶׁר לא חֹמָ֗ה לַ/צְּמִיתֻ֛ת לַ/קֹּנֶ֥ה אֹת֖/וֹ לְ/דֹרֹתָ֑י/ו לֹ֥א יֵצֵ֖א בַּ/יֹּבֵֽל
But the houses of the villages which haue no walles round about them, shall bee counted as the fields of the countrey: they may ee redeemed, and they shall goe out in the Iubile.
GenevaBut the houses of villages, which haue no walles round about them, shalbe esteemed as the fielde of the countrey: they may be bought out againe, and shall goe out in the Iubile.
וּ/בָתֵּ֣י הַ/חֲצֵרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֵין לָ/הֶ֤ם חֹמָה֙ סָבִ֔יב עַל שְׂדֵ֥ה הָ/אָ֖רֶץ יֵחָשֵׁ֑ב גְּאֻלָּה֙ תִּהְיֶה לּ֔/וֹ וּ/בַ/יֹּבֵ֖ל יֵצֵֽא
Notwithstanding, the cities of the Leuites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Leuites redeeme at any time.

וְ/עָרֵי֙ הַ/לְוִיִּ֔ם בָּתֵּ֖י עָרֵ֣י אֲחֻזָּתָ֑/ם גְּאֻלַּ֥ת עוֹלָ֖ם תִּהְיֶ֥ה לַ/לְוִיִּֽם
And if a man purchase of the Leuites, then the house that was sold, and the citie of his possession shall goe out in the yeere of Iubile: for the houses of the cities of the Leuites are their possession among the children of Israel.

וַ/אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִגְאַל֙ מִן הַ/לְוִיִּ֔ם וְ/יָצָ֧א מִמְכַּר בַּ֛יִת וְ/עִ֥יר אֲחֻזָּת֖/וֹ בַּ/יֹּבֵ֑ל כִּ֣י בָתֵּ֞י עָרֵ֣י הַ/לְוִיִּ֗ם הִ֚וא אֲחֻזָּתָ֔/ם בְּ/ת֖וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold, for it is their perpetuall possession.
GenevaBut the fielde of the suburbes of their cities, shall not be solde: for it is their perpetuall possession.
וּֽ/שְׂדֵ֛ה מִגְרַ֥שׁ עָרֵי/הֶ֖ם לֹ֣א יִמָּכֵ֑ר כִּֽי אֲחֻזַּ֥ת עוֹלָ֛ם ה֖וּא לָ/הֶֽם
¶ And if thy brother bee waxen poore, and fallen in decay with thee, then thou shalt relieue him, yea though he be a stranger, or a soiourner, that hee may liue with thee.
GenevaMoreouer, if thy brother be impouerished, and fallen in decay with thee, thou shalt relieue him, and as a stranger and soiourner, so shall he liue with thee.
וְ/כִֽי יָמ֣וּךְ אָחִ֔י/ךָ וּ/מָ֥טָה יָד֖/וֹ עִמָּ֑/ךְ וְ/הֶֽחֱזַ֣קְתָּ בּ֔/וֹ גֵּ֧ר וְ/תוֹשָׁ֛ב וָ/חַ֖י עִמָּֽ/ךְ
Take thou no vsurie of him, or increase: but feare thy God, that thy brother may liue with thee.
GenevaThou shalt take no vsurie of him, nor vantage, but thou shalt feare thy God, that thy brother may liue with thee.
אַל תִּקַּ֤ח מֵֽ/אִתּ/וֹ֙ נֶ֣שֶׁךְ וְ/תַרְבִּ֔ית וְ/יָרֵ֖אתָ מֵֽ/אֱלֹהֶ֑י/ךָ וְ/חֵ֥י אָחִ֖י/ךָ עִמָּֽ/ךְ
Thou shalt not giue him thy money vpon vsurie, nor lend him thy victuals for increase.
GenevaThou shalt not giue him thy money to vsurie, nor lende him thy vitailes for increase.
אֶ֨ת כַּסְפְּ/ךָ֔ לֹֽא תִתֵּ֥ן ל֖/וֹ בְּ/נֶ֑שֶׁךְ וּ/בְ/מַרְבִּ֖ית לֹא תִתֵּ֥ן אָכְלֶֽ/ךָ
I am the LORD your God, which brought you foorth out of the land of Egypt, to giue you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.

אֲנִ֗י יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹ֣הֵי/כֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵ֥אתִי אֶתְ/כֶ֖ם מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם לָ/תֵ֤ת לָ/כֶם֙ אֶת אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן לִ/הְי֥וֹת לָ/כֶ֖ם לֵ/אלֹהִֽים
¶ And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poore, and be sold vnto thee, thou shalt not compell him to serue as a bond seruant.
GenevaIf thy brother also that dwelleth by thee, be impouerished, and be sold vnto thee, thou shalt not compel him to serue as a bond seruant,
וְ/כִֽי יָמ֥וּךְ אָחִ֛י/ךָ עִמָּ֖/ךְ וְ/נִמְכַּר לָ֑/ךְ לֹא תַעֲבֹ֥ד בּ֖/וֹ עֲבֹ֥דַת עָֽבֶד
But as an hired seruant, and as a soiourner he shall be with thee, and shall serue thee vnto the yere of Iubile.
GenevaBut as an hired seruant, and as a soiourner he shalbe with thee: he shall serue thee vnto the yeere of the Iubile.
כְּ/שָׂכִ֥יר כְּ/תוֹשָׁ֖ב יִהְיֶ֣ה עִמָּ֑/ךְ עַד שְׁנַ֥ת הַ/יֹּבֵ֖ל יַעֲבֹ֥ד עִמָּֽ/ךְ
And then shall hee depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall returne vnto his owne familie, and vnto the possession of his fathers shall he returne.
GenevaThen shall he depart from thee, both hee, and his children with him, and shall returne vnto his familie, and vnto the possession of his fathers shall he returne:
וְ/יָצָא֙ מֵֽ/עִמָּ֔/ךְ ה֖וּא וּ/בָנָ֣י/ו עִמּ֑/וֹ וְ/שָׁב֙ אֶל מִשְׁפַּחְתּ֔/וֹ וְ/אֶל אֲחֻזַּ֥ת אֲבֹתָ֖י/ו יָשֽׁוּב
For they are my seruants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bond men.
GenevaFor they are my seruants, whom I brought out of the lande of Egypt: they shall not be solde as bondmen are solde.
כִּֽי עֲבָדַ֣/י הֵ֔ם אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵ֥אתִי אֹתָ֖/ם מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם לֹ֥א יִמָּכְר֖וּ מִמְכֶּ֥רֶת עָֽבֶד
Thou shalt not rule ouer him with rigour, but shalt feare thy God.
GenevaThou shalt not rule ouer him cruelly, but shalt feare thy God.
לֹא תִרְדֶּ֥ה ב֖/וֹ בְּ/פָ֑רֶךְ וְ/יָרֵ֖אתָ מֵ/אֱלֹהֶֽי/ךָ
Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt haue, shall be of the Heathen, that are round about you: of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.
GenevaThy bond seruant also, and thy bond maid, which thou shalt haue, shalbe of the heathen that are rounde about you: of them shall ye bye seruants and maydes.
וְ/עַבְדְּ/ךָ֥ וַ/אֲמָתְ/ךָ֖ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִהְיוּ לָ֑/ךְ מֵ/אֵ֣ת הַ/גּוֹיִ֗ם אֲשֶׁר֙ סְבִיבֹ֣תֵי/כֶ֔ם מֵ/הֶ֥ם תִּקְנ֖וּ עֶ֥בֶד וְ/אָמָֽה
Moreouer, of the children of the strangers that do soiourne among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shalbe your possession.
GenevaAnd moreouer of the children of the stragers, that are soiourners among you, of them shall ye bye, and of their families that are with you, which they begate in your lande: these shall be your possession.
וְ֠/גַם מִ/בְּנֵ֨י הַ/תּוֹשָׁבִ֜ים הַ/גָּרִ֤ים עִמָּ/כֶם֙ מֵ/הֶ֣ם תִּקְנ֔וּ וּ/מִ/מִּשְׁפַּחְתָּ/ם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עִמָּ/כֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר הוֹלִ֖ידוּ בְּ/אַרְצְ/כֶ֑ם וְ/הָי֥וּ לָ/כֶ֖ם לַֽ/אֲחֻזָּֽה
And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherite them for a possession, they shal bee your bondmen for euer: but ouer your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one ouer another with rigour.
GenevaSo ye shall take them as inheritance for your children after you, to possesse them by inheritance, ye shall vse their labours for euer: but ouer your brethren the children of Israel ye shall not rule one ouer another with crueltie.
וְ/הִתְנַחֲלְתֶּ֨ם אֹתָ֜/ם לִ/בְנֵי/כֶ֤ם אַחֲרֵי/כֶם֙ לָ/רֶ֣שֶׁת אֲחֻזָּ֔ה לְ/עֹלָ֖ם בָּ/הֶ֣ם תַּעֲבֹ֑דוּ וּ/בְ/אַ֨חֵי/כֶ֤ם בְּנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אִ֣ישׁ בְּ/אָחִ֔י/ו לֹא תִרְדֶּ֥ה ב֖/וֹ בְּ/פָֽרֶךְ
¶ And if a soiourner or stranger waxe rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him waxe poore, and sell himselfe vnto the stranger or soiourner by thee, or to the stocke of the strangers family:
GenevaIf a soiourner or a stranger dwelling by thee get riches, and thy brother by him be impouerished, and sell him selfe vnto the stranger or soiourner dwelling by thee, or to the stocke of the strangers familie,
וְ/כִ֣י תַשִּׂ֗יג יַ֣ד גֵּ֤ר וְ/תוֹשָׁב֙ עִמָּ֔/ךְ וּ/מָ֥ךְ אָחִ֖י/ךָ עִמּ֑/וֹ וְ/נִמְכַּ֗ר לְ/גֵ֤ר תּוֹשָׁב֙ עִמָּ֔/ךְ א֥וֹ לְ/עֵ֖קֶר מִשְׁפַּ֥חַת גֵּֽר
After that he is sold, hee may be redeemed againe: one of his brethren may redeeme him.
GenevaAfter that he is solde, he may be bought out: one of his brethren may bye him out,
אַחֲרֵ֣י נִמְכַּ֔ר גְּאֻלָּ֖ה תִּהְיֶה לּ֑/וֹ אֶחָ֥ד מֵ/אֶחָ֖י/ו יִגְאָלֶֽ/נּוּ
Either his vncle, or his vncles sonne may redeeme him, or any that is nigh of kinne vnto him, of his family, may redeeme him: or if he be able, hee may redeeme himselfe.
GenevaOr his vncle, or his vncles sonne may bye him out, or any of the kindred of his flesh among his familie, may redeeme him: either if he can get so much, he may bye him selfe out.
אוֹ דֹד֞/וֹ א֤וֹ בֶן דֹּד/וֹ֙ יִגְאָלֶ֔/נּוּ אֽוֹ מִ/שְּׁאֵ֧ר בְּשָׂר֛/וֹ מִ/מִּשְׁפַּחְתּ֖/וֹ יִגְאָלֶ֑/נּוּ אֽוֹ הִשִּׂ֥יגָה יָד֖/וֹ וְ/נִגְאָֽל
And he shall reckon with him that bought him, from the yeere that he was sold to him, vnto the yeere of Iubile, and the price of his sale shalbe according vnto the number of yeeres, according to the time of an hired seruant shall it be with him.
GenevaThen he shall recken with his byer from the yeere that he was solde to him, vnto the yere of Iubile: and the money of his sale shalbe according to the number of yeeres: according to the time of an hyred seruant shall he be with him.
וְ/חִשַּׁב֙ עִם קֹנֵ֔/הוּ מִ/שְּׁנַת֙ הִמָּ֣כְר/וֹ ל֔/וֹ עַ֖ד שְׁנַ֣ת הַ/יֹּבֵ֑ל וְ/הָיָ֞ה כֶּ֤סֶף מִמְכָּר/וֹ֙ בְּ/מִסְפַּ֣ר שָׁנִ֔ים כִּ/ימֵ֥י שָׂכִ֖יר יִהְיֶ֥ה עִמּֽ/וֹ
If there be yet many yeeres behinde, according vnto them hee shall giue againe the price of his redemption, out of the money that hee was bought for.
GenevaIf there be many yeeres behind, according to them he shall giue againe for his deliuerance, of the money that he was bought for.
אִם ע֥וֹד רַבּ֖וֹת בַּ/שָּׁנִ֑ים לְ/פִי/הֶן֙ יָשִׁ֣יב גְּאֻלָּת֔/וֹ מִ/כֶּ֖סֶף מִקְנָתֽ/וֹ
And if there remaine but few yeeres vnto the yeere of Iubile, then he shall count with him, and according vnto his yeeres shall he giue him againe the price of his redemption.
GenevaIf there remaine but fewe yeeres vnto the yeere of Iubile, then he shall count with him, and according to his yeeres giue againe for his redemption.
וְ/אִם מְעַ֞ט נִשְׁאַ֧ר בַּ/שָּׁנִ֛ים עַד שְׁנַ֥ת הַ/יֹּבֵ֖ל וְ/חִשַּׁב ל֑/וֹ כְּ/פִ֣י שָׁנָ֔י/ו יָשִׁ֖יב אֶת גְּאֻלָּתֽ/וֹ
And as a yeerely hired seruant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour ouer him in thy sight.
GenevaHe shalbe with him yeere by yeere as an hired seruant: he shall not rule cruelly ouer him in thy sight.
כִּ/שְׂכִ֥יר שָׁנָ֛ה בְּ/שָׁנָ֖ה יִהְיֶ֣ה עִמּ֑/וֹ לֹֽא יִרְדֶּ֥/נּֽוּ בְּ/פֶ֖רֶךְ לְ/עֵינֶֽי/ךָ
And if hee be not redeemed in these yeeres, then he shall goe out in the yeere of Iubile, both he, and his children with him.
GenevaAnd if he be not redeemed thus, he shall go out in the yeere of Iubile, he, and his children with him.
וְ/אִם לֹ֥א יִגָּאֵ֖ל בְּ/אֵ֑לֶּה וְ/יָצָא֙ בִּ/שְׁנַ֣ת הַ/יֹּבֵ֔ל ה֖וּא וּ/בָנָ֥י/ו עִמּֽ/וֹ
For vnto me the children of Israel are seruants, they are my seruants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
GenevaFor vnto me the children of Israel are seruants: they are my seruants, who I haue brought out of the land of Egypt: I am ye Lord your God.
כִּֽי לִ֤/י בְנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ עֲבָדִ֔ים עֲבָדַ֣/י הֵ֔ם אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵ֥אתִי אוֹתָ֖/ם מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם אֲנִ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵי/כֶֽם
