Joshua 3
And Ioshua rose early in the morning, and they remooued from Shittim, and came to Iordan, hee and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed ouer.
GenevaThen Ioshua rose very earely, and they remoued from Shittim, and came to Iorden, he, and all the children of Israel, and lodged there, before they went ouer.
וַ/יַּשְׁכֵּם֩ יְהוֹשֻׁ֨עַ בַּ/בֹּ֜קֶר וַ/יִּסְע֣וּ מֵֽ/הַ/שִּׁטִּ֗ים וַ/יָּבֹ֨אוּ֙ עַד הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֔ן ה֖וּא וְ/כָל בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַ/יָּלִ֥נוּ שָׁ֖ם טֶ֥רֶם יַעֲבֹֽרוּ
And it came to passe after three dayes, that the Officers went thorow the hoste;
GenevaAnd after three dayes the officers went throughout the hoste,
וַ/יְהִ֕י מִ/קְצֵ֖ה שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֑ים וַ/יַּעַבְר֥וּ הַ/שֹּׁטְרִ֖ים בְּ/קֶ֥רֶב הַֽ/מַּחֲנֶֽה
And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the Arke of the Couenant of the LORD your God, and the Priests the Leuites bearing it, then yee shall remooue from your place, and goe after it.
GenevaAnd commanded the people, saying, When ye see the Arke of the couenat of the Lord your God, and the Priestes of the Leuites bearing it, ye shall depart from your place, and goe after it.
וַ/יְצַוּוּ֮ אֶת הָ/עָ֣ם לֵ/אמֹר֒ כִּ/רְאֽוֹתְ/כֶ֗ם אֵ֣ת אֲר֤וֹן בְּרִית יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹ֣הֵי/כֶ֔ם וְ/הַ/כֹּֽהֲנִים֙ הַ/לְוִיִּ֔ם נֹשְׂאִ֖ים אֹת֑/וֹ וְ/אַתֶּ֗ם תִּסְעוּ֙ מִ/מְּק֣וֹמְ/כֶ֔ם וַ/הֲלַכְתֶּ֖ם אַחֲרָֽי/ו
Yet there shalbe a space betweene you and it, about two thousand cubites by measure: come not neere vnto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must goe: for yee haue not passed this way heretofore.
GenevaYet there shalbe a space betweene you and it, about two thousande cubites by measure: ye shall not come neere vnto it, that ye may knowe the way, by the which ye shall goe: for ye haue not gone this way in times past.
אַ֣ךְ רָח֣וֹק יִהְיֶ֗ה בֵּֽינֵי/כֶם֙ ו/בינ/ו כְּ/אַלְפַּ֥יִם אַמָּ֖ה בַּ/מִּדָּ֑ה אַֽל תִּקְרְב֣וּ אֵלָ֗י/ו לְמַ֤עַן אֲשֶׁר תֵּֽדְעוּ֙ אֶת הַ/דֶּ֨רֶךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֵּֽלְכוּ בָ֔/הּ כִּ֣י לֹ֧א עֲבַרְתֶּ֛ם בַּ/דֶּ֖רֶךְ מִ/תְּמ֥וֹל שִׁלְשֽׁוֹם
And Ioshua said vnto the people, Sanctifie your selues: for to morrow the LORD wil do wōders among you.
Geneva(Nowe Ioshua had saide vnto the people, Sanctifie your selues: for to morowe the Lord will doe wonders among you)
וַ/יֹּ֧אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ אֶל הָ/עָ֖ם הִתְקַדָּ֑שׁוּ כִּ֣י מָחָ֗ר יַעֲשֶׂ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה בְּ/קִרְבְּ/כֶ֖ם נִפְלָאֽוֹת
And Ioshua spake vnto the Priests, saying, Take vp the Arke of the Couenant, and passe ouer before the people. And they tooke vp the Arke of the Couenant, and went before the people.
GenevaAlso Ioshua spake vnto the Priestes, saying, Take vp the Arke of the couenant, and goe ouer before the people: so they tooke vp the Arke of the couenant, and went before the people.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֨עַ֙ אֶל הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֣ים לֵ/אמֹ֔ר שְׂאוּ֙ אֶת אֲר֣וֹן הַ/בְּרִ֔ית וְ/עִבְר֖וּ לִ/פְנֵ֣י הָ/עָ֑ם וַ/יִּשְׂאוּ֙ אֶת אֲר֣וֹן הַ/בְּרִ֔ית וַ/יֵּלְכ֖וּ לִ/פְנֵ֥י הָ/עָֽם
¶ And the LORD saide vnto Ioshua, This day wil I begin to magnifie thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.
GenevaThen the Lord saide vnto Ioshua, This day will I begin to magnifie thee in the sight of all Israel, which shall knowe, that as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ הַ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/זֶּ֗ה אָחֵל֙ גַּדֶּלְ/ךָ֔ בְּ/עֵינֵ֖י כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁר֙ יֵֽדְע֔וּ/ן כִּ֗י כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיִ֛יתִי עִם מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶהְיֶ֥ה עִמָּֽ/ךְ
And thou shalt commaund the Priests that beare the Arke of the Couenant, saying; When ye are come to the brinke of the water of Iordan, yee shall stand still in Iordan.
GenevaThou shalt therefore command the Priests that beare the Arke of the Couenant, saying, When ye are come to the brinke of the waters of Iorden, ye shall stande still in Iorden.
וְ/אַתָּ֗ה תְּצַוֶּה֙ אֶת הַ/כֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים נֹשְׂאֵ֥י אֲרֽוֹן הַ/בְּרִ֖ית לֵ/אמֹ֑ר כְּ/בֹאֲ/כֶ֗ם עַד קְצֵה֙ מֵ֣י הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֔ן בַּ/יַּרְדֵּ֖ן תַּעֲמֹֽדוּ
¶ And Ioshua said vnto the children of Israel, Come hither, and heare the words of the LORD your God.
GenevaThen Ioshua said vnto the children of Israel, Come hither, and heare the wordes of the Lord your God.
וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ אֶל בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל גֹּ֣שׁוּ הֵ֔נָּה וְ/שִׁמְע֕וּ אֶת דִּבְרֵ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹֽהֵי/כֶֽם
And Ioshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the liuing God is among you, and that he will without faile driue out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hiuites, and the Perizzites, and Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Iebusites.
GenevaAnd Ioshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the liuing God is among you, and that he will certainely cast out before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hiuites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Iebusites.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ בְּ/זֹאת֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּ/ן כִּ֛י אֵ֥ל חַ֖י בְּ/קִרְבְּ/כֶ֑ם וְ/הוֹרֵ֣שׁ יוֹרִ֣ישׁ מִ֠/פְּנֵי/כֶם אֶת הַ/כְּנַעֲנִ֨י וְ/אֶת הַ/חִתִּ֜י וְ/אֶת הַ/חִוִּ֗י וְ/אֶת הַ/פְּרִזִּי֙ וְ/אֶת הַ/גִּרְגָּשִׁ֔י וְ/הָ/אֱמֹרִ֖י וְ/הַ/יְבוּסִֽי
Behold, the Arke of the Couenant, euen the Lord of all the earth, passeth ouer before you, into Iordan.
GenevaBeholde, the Arke of the couenant of the Lord of all the worlde passeth before you into Iorden.
הִנֵּה֙ אֲר֣וֹן הַ/בְּרִ֔ית אֲד֖וֹן כָּל הָ/אָ֑רֶץ עֹבֵ֥ר לִ/פְנֵי/כֶ֖ם בַּ/יַּרְדֵּֽן
Now therefore take yee twelue men out of the Tribes of Israel, out of euery Tribe a man.
GenevaNowe therefore take from among you twelue men out of the tribes of Israel, out of euery tribe a man.
וְ/עַתָּ֗ה קְח֤וּ לָ/כֶם֙ שְׁנֵ֣י עָשָׂ֣ר אִ֔ישׁ מִ/שִּׁבְטֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אִישׁ אֶחָ֥ד אִישׁ אֶחָ֖ד לַ/שָּֽׁבֶט
And it shall come to passe, assoone as the soles of the feete of the Priestes that beare the Arke of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Iordan, that the waters of Iordan shall be cut off, from the waters that come downe from aboue: and they shall stand vpon an heape.
GenevaAnd assoone as the soles of the feete of the Priestes (that beare the Arke of the Lord God the Lord of all the worlde) shall stay in the waters of Iorden, the waters of Iorden shall be cut off: for the waters that come from aboue, shall stande still vpon an heape.
וְ/הָיָ֡ה כְּ/נ֣וֹחַ כַּפּ֣וֹת רַגְלֵ֣י הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֡ים נֹשְׂאֵי֩ אֲר֨וֹן יְהוָ֜ה אֲד֤וֹן כָּל הָ/אָ֨רֶץ֙ בְּ/מֵ֣י הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֔ן מֵ֤י הַ/יַּרְדֵּן֙ יִכָּ֣רֵת֔וּ/ן הַ/מַּ֥יִם הַ/יֹּרְדִ֖ים מִ/לְ/מָ֑עְלָ/ה וְ/יַעַמְד֖וּ נֵ֥ד אֶחָֽד
¶ And it came to passe when the people remooued from their tents, to passe ouer Iordan, and the Priests bearing the Arke of the Couenant before the people;
GenevaThen when the people were departed from their tentes to goe ouer Iorden, the Priestes bearing the Arke of the Couenant, went before people.
וַ/יְהִ֗י בִּ/נְסֹ֤עַ הָ/עָם֙ מֵ/אָ֣הֳלֵי/הֶ֔ם לַ/עֲבֹ֖ר אֶת הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֑ן וְ/הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֗ים נֹֽשְׂאֵ֛י הָ/אָר֥וֹן הַ/בְּרִ֖ית לִ/פְנֵ֥י הָ/עָֽם
And as they that bare the Arke were come vnto Iordan, and the feet of the Priestes that bare the Arke, were dipped in the brimme of the water, (for Iordan ouerfloweth all his banks at the time of haruest)
GenevaAnd as they that bare the Arke came vnto Iorden, and the feete of the Priestes that bare the Arke were dipped in the brinke of the water, (for Iorden vseth to fill all his bankes all the time of haruest)
וּ/כְ/ב֞וֹא נֹשְׂאֵ֤י הָֽ/אָרוֹן֙ עַד הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֔ן וְ/רַגְלֵ֤י הַ/כֹּֽהֲנִים֙ נֹשְׂאֵ֣י הָֽ/אָר֔וֹן נִטְבְּל֖וּ בִּ/קְצֵ֣ה הַ/מָּ֑יִם וְ/הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֗ן מָלֵא֙ עַל כָּל גְּדוֹתָ֔י/ו כֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֥י קָצִֽיר
That the waters which came downe from aboue, stood and rose vp vpon an heape very farre, from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came downe toward the sea of the plaine, euen the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed ouer right against Iericho.
GenevaThen the waters that came downe from aboue, stayed and rose vpon an heape and departed farre from the citie of Adam, that was beside Zaretan: but the waters that came downe towarde the Sea of the wildernes, euen the salt Sea, failed, and were cut off: so the people went right ouer against Iericho.
וַ/יַּעַמְד֡וּ הַ/מַּיִם֩ הַ/יֹּרְדִ֨ים מִ/לְ/מַ֜עְלָ/ה קָ֣מוּ נֵד אֶחָ֗ד הַרְחֵ֨ק מְאֹ֜ד ב/אדם הָ/עִיר֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ מִ/צַּ֣ד צָֽרְתָ֔ן וְ/הַ/יֹּרְדִ֗ים עַ֣ל יָ֧ם הָ/עֲרָבָ֛ה יָם הַ/מֶּ֖לַח תַּ֣מּוּ נִכְרָ֑תוּ וְ/הָ/עָ֥ם עָבְר֖וּ נֶ֥גֶד יְרִיחֽוֹ
And the Priestes that bare the Arke of the Couenant of the LORD, stood firme on drie ground, in the midst of Iordan, and all the Israelites passed ouer on drie ground, vntill all the people were passed cleane ouer Iordan.
GenevaBut the Priestes that bare the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, stoode drie within Iorden readie prepared, and all the Israelites went ouer dry, vntill all the people were gone cleane ouer through Iorden.
וַ/יַּעַמְד֣וּ הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֡ים נֹ֠שְׂאֵי הָ/אָר֨וֹן בְּרִית יְהוָ֜ה בֶּ/חָֽרָבָ֛ה בְּ/ת֥וֹךְ הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֖ן הָכֵ֑ן וְ/כָל יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל עֹֽבְרִים֙ בֶּ/חָ֣רָבָ֔ה עַ֤ד אֲשֶׁר תַּ֨מּוּ֙ כָּל הַ/גּ֔וֹי לַ/עֲבֹ֖ר אֶת הַ/יַּרְדֵּֽן
