Canst thou draw out Leuiathan with an hooke? or his tongue with a corde which thou lettest downe?
GenevaNone is so fearce that dare stirre him vp. Who is he then that can stand before me?
הֵן תֹּחַלְתּ֥/וֹ נִכְזָ֑בָה הֲ/גַ֖ם אֶל מַרְאָ֣י/ו יֻטָֽל
Canst thou put an hooke into his nose? or bore his iawe through with a thorne?
GenevaWho hath preuented mee that I shoulde make an ende? Al vnder heauen is mine.
לֹֽא אַ֭כְזָר כִּ֣י יְעוּרֶ֑/נּוּ וּ/מִ֥י ה֝֗וּא לְ/פָנַ֥/י יִתְיַצָּֽב
Will he make many supplications vnto thee? will he speake soft words vnto thee?
GenevaI will not keepe silence concerning his partes, nor his power nor his comely proportion.

Will he make a couenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a seruant for euer?
GenevaWho can discouer the face of his garmet? or who shall come to him with a double bridle?
לא אַחֲרִ֥ישׁ בַּדָּ֑י/ו וּ/דְבַר גְּ֝בוּר֗וֹת וְ/חִ֣ין עֶרְכּֽ/וֹ
Wilt thou play with him as with a birde? wilt thou binde him for thy maydens?
GenevaWho shall open the doores of his face? his teeth are fearefull round about.
מִֽי גִ֭לָּה פְּנֵ֣י לְבוּשׁ֑/וֹ בְּ/כֶ֥פֶל רִ֝סְנ֗/וֹ מִ֣י יָבֽוֹא
Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?

Canst thou fill his skinne with barbed irons? or his head with fishspeares?

Lay thine hand vpon him, remember the battell: doe no more.

אִישׁ בְּ/אָחִ֥י/הוּ יְדֻבָּ֑קוּ יִ֝תְלַכְּד֗וּ וְ/לֹ֣א יִתְפָּרָֽדוּ
None is so fierce that dare stirre him vp: who then is able to stand before me?
GenevaOut of his mouth go lampes, and sparkes of fire leape out.
עֲֽ֭טִישֹׁתָי/ו תָּ֣הֶל א֑וֹר וְ֝/עֵינָ֗י/ו כְּ/עַפְעַפֵּי שָֽׁחַר
Who hath preuented me that I should repay him? whatsoeuer is vnder the whole heauen, is mine.
GenevaOut of his nostrels commeth out smoke, as out of a boyling pot or caldron.
מִ֭/פִּי/ו לַפִּידִ֣ים יַהֲלֹ֑כוּ כִּיד֥וֹדֵי אֵ֝֗שׁ יִתְמַלָּֽטוּ
I will not conceale his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
GenevaHis breath maketh the coales burne: for a flame goeth out of his mouth.
מִ֭/נְּחִירָי/ו יֵצֵ֣א עָשָׁ֑ן כְּ/ד֖וּד נָפ֣וּחַ וְ/אַגְמֹֽן
Who can discouer the face of his garment? or who can come to him, with his double bridle?
GenevaIn his necke remayneth strength, and labour is reiected before his face.
נַ֭פְשׁ/וֹ גֶּחָלִ֣ים תְּלַהֵ֑ט וְ֝/לַ֗הַב מִ/פִּ֥י/ו יֵצֵֽא
Who can open the doores of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.

His scales are his pride, shut vp together as with a close seale.
GenevaHis heart is as strong as a stone, and as hard as the nether milstone.
מַפְּלֵ֣י בְשָׂר֣/וֹ דָבֵ֑קוּ יָצ֥וּק עָ֝לָ֗י/ו בַּל יִמּֽוֹט
One is so neere to another, that no ayre can come betweene them.
GenevaThe mightie are afrayd of his maiestie, and for feare they faint in themselues.
לִ֭בּ/וֹ יָצ֣וּק כְּמוֹ אָ֑בֶן וְ֝/יָצ֗וּק כְּ/פֶ֣לַח תַּחְתִּֽית
They are ioyned one to another, they sticke together, that they cannot be sundred.
GenevaWhen the sword doeth touch him, he will not rise vp, nor for the speare, dart nor habergeon.
מִ֭/שֵּׂת/וֹ יָג֣וּרוּ אֵלִ֑ים מִ֝/שְּׁבָרִ֗ים יִתְחַטָּֽאוּ
By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eye-liddes of the morning.
GenevaHe esteemeth yron as strawe, and brasse as rotten wood.
מַשִּׂיגֵ֣/הוּ חֶ֭רֶב בְּלִ֣י תָק֑וּם חֲנִ֖ית מַסָּ֣ע וְ/שִׁרְיָֽה
Out of his mouth goe burning lampes, and sparkes of fire leape out.

Out of his nostrels goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.

The flakes of his flesh are ioyned together: they are firme in themselues, they cannot be moued.

His heart is as firme as a stone, yea as hard as a peece of the nether mil-stone.

When he rayseth vp himselfe, the mightie are afraid: by reason of breakings they purifie themselues.
