Job 37

At this also my heart trembleth, and is moued out of his place.

אַף לְ֭/זֹאת יֶחֱרַ֣ד לִבִּ֑/י וְ֝/יִתַּ֗ר מִ/מְּקוֹמֽ/וֹ

Heare attentiuely the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth.

GenevaHeare the sound of his voyce, and the noyse that goeth out of his mouth.

שִׁמְע֤וּ שָׁמ֣וֹעַ בְּ/רֹ֣גֶז קֹל֑/וֹ וְ֝/הֶ֗גֶה מִ/פִּ֥י/ו יֵצֵֽא

Hee directeth it vnder the whole heauen, and his lightning vnto the ends of the earth.

GenevaHe directeth it vnder the whole heauen, and his light vnto the endes of the world.

תַּֽחַת כָּל הַ/שָּׁמַ֥יִם יִשְׁרֵ֑/הוּ וְ֝/אוֹר֗/וֹ עַל כַּנְפ֥וֹת הָ/אָֽרֶץ

After it a voyce roareth: he thundreth with the voice of his excellencie, and hee will not stay them when his voice is heard.

GenevaAfter it a noyse soundeth: hee thundereth with the voyce of his maiestie, and hee will not stay them when his voyce is heard.

אַחֲרָ֤י/ו יִשְׁאַג ק֗וֹל יַ֭רְעֵם בְּ/ק֣וֹל גְּאוֹנ֑/וֹ וְ/לֹ֥א יְ֝עַקְּבֵ֗/ם כִּֽי יִשָּׁמַ֥ע קוֹלֽ/וֹ

God thundereth maruellously with his voice: great things doth hee, which we cannot comprehend.

GenevaGod thundereth marueilously with his voyce: he worketh great things, which we know not.

יַרְעֵ֤ם אֵ֣ל בְּ֭/קוֹל/וֹ נִפְלָא֑וֹת עֹשֶׂ֥ה גְ֝דֹל֗וֹת וְ/לֹ֣א נֵדָֽע

For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth: likewise to the small raine, and to the great raine of his strength.

GenevaFor he sayth to the snowe, Be thou vpon the earth: likewise to the small rayne and to the great rayne of his power.

כִּ֤י לַ/שֶּׁ֨לַג יֹאמַ֗ר הֱוֵ֫א אָ֥רֶץ וְ/גֶ֥שֶׁם מָטָ֑ר וְ֝/גֶ֗שֶׁם מִטְר֥וֹת עֻזּֽ/וֹ

He sealeth vp the hand of euery man; that all men may knowe his worke.

GenevaWith the force thereof he shutteth vp euery man, that all men may knowe his worke.

בְּ/יַד כָּל אָדָ֥ם יַחְתּ֑וֹם לָ֝/דַ֗עַת כָּל אַנְשֵׁ֥י מַעֲשֵֽׂ/הוּ

Then the beastes goe into dennes: and remaine in their places.

GenevaThen the beastes go into the denne, and remaine in their places.

וַ/תָּבֹ֣א חַיָּ֣ה בְמוֹ אָ֑רֶב וּ/בִ/מְע֖וֹנֹתֶ֣י/הָ תִשְׁכֹּֽן

Out of the South commeth the whirlewinde: and cold out of the North.

GenevaThe whirlewind commeth out of the South, and the colde from the North winde.

מִן הַ֭/חֶדֶר תָּב֣וֹא סוּפָ֑ה וּֽ/מִ/מְּזָרִ֥ים קָרָֽה

By the breath of God, frost is giuen: and the breadth of the waters is straitned.

GenevaAt the breath of God the frost is giuen, and the breadth of the waters is made narrowe.

מִ/נִּשְׁמַת אֵ֥ל יִתֶּן קָ֑רַח וְ/רֹ֖חַב מַ֣יִם בְּ/מוּצָֽק

Also by watring he wearieth the thicke cloud: hee scattereth his bright cloud.

GenevaHe maketh also the cloudes to labour, to water the earth, and scattereth the cloude of his light.

אַף בְּ֭/רִי יַטְרִ֣יחַ עָ֑ב יָ֝פִ֗יץ עֲנַ֣ן אוֹרֽ/וֹ

And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may doe whatsoeuer hee commaundeth them vpon the face of the world in the earth.

GenevaAnd it is turned about by his gouernment, that they may doe whatsoeuer he commandeth them vpon the whole worlde:

וְ/ה֤וּא מְסִבּ֨וֹת מִתְהַפֵּ֣ךְ ב/תחבולת/ו לְ/פָעֳלָ֑/ם כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְצַוֵּ֓/ם עַל פְּנֵ֖י תֵבֵ֣ל אָֽרְצָ/ה

He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.

GenevaWhether it be for punishment, or for his lande, or of mercie, he causeth it to come.

אִם לְ/שֵׁ֥בֶט אִם לְ/אַרְצ֑/וֹ אִם לְ֝/חֶ֗סֶד יַמְצִאֵֽ/הוּ

Hearken vnto this, O Iob: stand still, and consider the wondrous workes of God.

הַאֲזִ֣ינָ/ה זֹּ֣את אִיּ֑וֹב עֲ֝מֹ֗ד וְ/הִתְבּוֹנֵ֤ן נִפְלְא֬וֹת אֵֽל

Doest thou knowe when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?

הֲ֭/תֵדַע בְּ/שׂוּם אֱל֣וֹהַּ עֲלֵי/הֶ֑ם וְ֝/הוֹפִ֗יעַ א֣וֹר עֲנָנֽ/וֹ

Doest thou know the ballancings of the clouds, the wondrous workes of him which is perfect in knowledge?

GenevaHast thou knowen the varietie of the cloude, and the wonderous workes of him, that is perfite in knowledge?

הֲ֭/תֵדַע עַל מִפְלְשֵׂי עָ֑ב מִ֝פְלְא֗וֹת תְּמִ֣ים דֵּעִֽים

How thy garments are warme, when hee quieteth the earth by the South wind?

GenevaOr howe thy clothes are warme, when he maketh the earth quiet through the South winde?

אֲשֶׁר בְּגָדֶ֥י/ךָ חַמִּ֑ים בְּ/הַשְׁקִ֥ט אֶ֝֗רֶץ מִ/דָּרֽוֹם

Hast thou with him spread out the skie, which is strong, and as a molten looking glasse?

GenevaHast thou stretched out the heaues, which are strong, and as a molten glasse?

תַּרְקִ֣יעַ עִ֭מּ/וֹ לִ/שְׁחָקִ֑ים חֲ֝זָקִ֗ים כִּ/רְאִ֥י מוּצָֽק

Teach vs what we shall say vnto him; for we cannot order our speach by reason of darknes.

GenevaTell vs what we shall say vnto him: for we can not dispose our matter because of darknes.

ה֭וֹדִיעֵ/נוּ מַה נֹּ֣אמַר ל֑/וֹ לֹ֥א נַ֝עֲרֹ֗ךְ מִ/פְּנֵי חֹֽשֶׁךְ

Shall it bee told him that I speake? if a man speake, surely he shalbe swallowed vp.

GenevaShall it be told him when I speake? or shall man speake when he shalbe destroyed?

הַֽ/יְסֻפַּר ל֭/וֹ כִּ֣י אֲדַבֵּ֑ר אִֽם אָ֥מַר אִ֝֗ישׁ כִּ֣י יְבֻלָּֽע

And nowe men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth and cleanseth them.

וְ/עַתָּ֤ה לֹ֘א רָ֤אוּ א֗וֹר בָּהִ֣יר ה֭וּא בַּ/שְּׁחָקִ֑ים וְ/ר֥וּחַ עָ֝בְרָ֗ה וַֽ/תְּטַהֲרֵֽ/ם

Faire weather commeth out of the North: with God is terrible maiestie.

GenevaThe brightnesse commeth out of the North: the praise thereof is to God, which is terrible.

מִ֭/צָּפוֹן זָהָ֣ב יֶֽאֱתֶ֑ה עַל אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ נ֣וֹרָא הֽוֹד

Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in iudgement, and in plenty of iustice: he will not afflict.

GenevaIt is the Almightie: we can not finde him out: he is excellent in power and iudgement, and aboundant in iustice: he afflicteth not.

שַׁדַּ֣י לֹֽא מְ֭צָאנֻ/הוּ שַׂגִּיא כֹ֑חַ וּ/מִשְׁפָּ֥ט וְ/רֹב צְ֝דָקָ֗ה לֹ֣א יְעַנֶּֽה

Men doe therefore feare him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.

GenevaLet men therefore feare him: for he will not regarde any that are wise in their owne conceit.

לָ֭/כֵן יְרֵא֣וּ/הוּ אֲנָשִׁ֑ים לֹֽא יִ֝רְאֶ֗ה כָּל חַכְמֵי לֵֽב
