Job 30
But nowe they that are yonger then I, haue mee in derision, whose fathers I would haue disdained to haue set with the dogs of my flocke.
GenevaBvt now they that are yonger then I, mocke me: yea, they whose fathers I haue refused to set with the dogges of my flockes.
וְ/עַתָּ֤ה שָֽׂחֲק֣וּ עָלַ/י֮ צְעִירִ֥ים מִמֶּ֗/נִּי לְ/יָ֫מִ֥ים אֲשֶׁר מָאַ֥סְתִּי אֲבוֹתָ֑/ם לָ֝/שִׁ֗ית עִם כַּלְבֵ֥י צֹאנִֽ/י
Yea whereto might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom olde age was perished?
GenevaFor whereto shoulde the strength of their handes haue serued mee, seeing age perished in them?
גַּם כֹּ֣חַ יְ֭דֵי/הֶם לָ֣/מָּה לִּ֑/י עָ֝לֵ֗י/מוֹ אָ֣בַד כָּֽלַח
For want and famine they were solitarie: flying into the wildernesse in former time desolate and waste:
GenevaFor pouertie and famine they were solitary, fleeing into the wildernes, which is darke, desolate and waste.
בְּ/חֶ֥סֶר וּ/בְ/כָפָ֗ן גַּ֫לְמ֥וּד הַֽ/עֹרְקִ֥ים צִיָּ֑ה אֶ֝֗מֶשׁ שׁוֹאָ֥ה וּ/מְשֹׁאָֽה
Who cut vp mallowes by the bushes, and Iuniper rootes for their meate.
GenevaThey cut vp nettels by the bushes, and the iuniper rootes was their meate.
הַ/קֹּטְפִ֣ים מַלּ֣וּחַ עֲלֵי שִׂ֑יחַ וְ/שֹׁ֖רֶשׁ רְתָמִ֣ים לַ/חְמָֽ/ם
They were driuen foorth from among men, (they cried after them, as after a thiefe.)
GenevaThey were chased forth from among men: they shouted at them, as at a theefe.
מִן גֵּ֥ו יְגֹרָ֑שׁוּ יָרִ֥יעוּ עָ֝לֵ֗י/מוֹ כַּ/גַּנָּֽב
To dwell in the clifts of the valleys, in caues of the earth, and in the rockes.
GenevaTherfore they dwelt in the clefts of riuers, in the holes of the earth and rockes.
בַּ/עֲר֣וּץ נְחָלִ֣ים לִ/שְׁכֹּ֑ן חֹרֵ֖י עָפָ֣ר וְ/כֵפִֽים
Among the bushes they brayed: vnder the nettles they were gathered together.
GenevaThey roared among the bushes, and vnder the thistles they gathered themselues.
בֵּין שִׂיחִ֥ים יִנְהָ֑קוּ תַּ֖חַת חָר֣וּל יְסֻפָּֽחוּ
They were children of fooles, yea children of base men: they were viler then the earth.
GenevaThey were the children of fooles and the children of villaines, which were more vile then the earth.
בְּֽנֵי נָ֭בָל גַּם בְּנֵ֣י בְלִי שֵׁ֑ם נִ֝כְּא֗וּ מִן הָ/אָֽרֶץ
And now am I their song, yea I am their by-word.
GenevaAnd now am I their song, and I am their talke.
וְ֭/עַתָּה נְגִינָתָ֣/ם הָיִ֑יתִי וָ/אֱהִ֖י לָ/הֶ֣ם לְ/מִלָּֽה
They abhorre me, they flee farre from me, and spare not to spit in my face.
GenevaThey abhorre me, and flee farre from mee, and spare not to spit in my face.
תִּֽ֭עֲבוּ/נִי רָ֣חֲקוּ מֶ֑/נִּי וּ֝/מִ/פָּנַ֗/י לֹא חָ֥שְׂכוּ רֹֽק
Because hee hath loosed my cord and afflicted me, they haue also let loose the bridle before me.
GenevaBecause that God hath loosed my corde and humbled mee, they haue loosed the bridle before me.
כִּֽי יתר/ו פִ֭תַּח וַ/יְעַנֵּ֑/נִי וְ֝/רֶ֗סֶן מִ/פָּנַ֥/י שִׁלֵּֽחוּ
Upon my right hand rise the youth, they push away my feete, and they raise vp against mee the wayes of their destruction.
GenevaThe youth rise vp at my right hand: they haue pusht my feete, and haue trode on me as on the paths of their destruction.
עַל יָמִין֮ פִּרְחַ֪ח יָ֫ק֥וּמוּ רַגְלַ֥/י שִׁלֵּ֑חוּ וַ/יָּסֹ֥לּוּ עָ֝לַ֗/י אָרְח֥וֹת אֵידָֽ/ם
They marre my path, they set forward my calamitie, they haue no helper.
GenevaThey haue destroyed my paths: they tooke pleasure at my calamitie, they had none helpe.
נָתְס֗וּ נְֽתִיבָ֫תִ֥/י לְ/הַוָּתִ֥/י יֹעִ֑ילוּ לֹ֖א עֹזֵ֣ר לָֽ/מוֹ
They came vpon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselues vpon me.
GenevaThey came as a great breach of waters, and vnder this calamitie they come on heapes.
כְּ/פֶ֣רֶץ רָחָ֣ב יֶאֱתָ֑יוּ תַּ֥חַת שֹׁ֝אָ֗ה הִתְגַּלְגָּֽלוּ
Terrours are turned vpon mee: they pursue my soule as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloude.
GenevaFeare is turned vpon mee: and they pursue my soule as the winde, and mine health passeth away as a cloude.
הָהְפַּ֥ךְ עָלַ֗/י בַּלָּ֫ה֥וֹת תִּרְדֹּ֣ף כָּ֭/רוּחַ נְדִבָתִ֑/י וּ֝/כְ/עָ֗ב עָבְרָ֥ה יְשֻׁעָתִֽ/י
And now my soule is powred out vpon me: the dayes of affliction haue taken hold vpon me.
GenevaTherefore my soule is nowe powred out vpon me, and the dayes of affliction haue taken holde on me.
וְ/עַתָּ֗ה עָ֭לַ/י תִּשְׁתַּפֵּ֣ךְ נַפְשִׁ֑/י יֹ֭אחֲז֣וּ/נִי יְמֵי עֹֽנִי
My bones are pierced in mee in the night season: and my sinewes take no rest.
GenevaIt pearceth my bones in the night, and my sinewes take no rest.
לַ֗יְלָה עֲ֭צָמַ/י נִקַּ֣ר מֵ/עָלָ֑/י וְ֝/עֹרְקַ֗/י לֹ֣א יִשְׁכָּבֽוּ/ן
By the great force of my disease, is my garment changed: it bindeth mee about as the collar of my coat.
GenevaFor the great vehemencie is my garment changed, which compasseth me about as the colar of my coate.
בְּ/רָב כֹּ֭חַ יִתְחַפֵּ֣שׂ לְבוּשִׁ֑/י כְּ/פִ֖י כֻתָּנְתִּ֣/י יַֽאַזְרֵֽ/נִי
He hath cast mee into the myre, and I am become like dust and ashes.
GenevaHe hath cast me into the myre, and I am become like ashes and dust.
הֹרָ֥/נִי לַ/חֹ֑מֶר וָ֝/אֶתְמַשֵּׁ֗ל כֶּ/עָפָ֥ר וָ/אֵֽפֶר
I crie vnto thee, and thou doest not heare me: I stand vp, and thou regardest me not.
GenevaWhe I cry vnto thee, thou doest not heare me, neither regardest me, when I stand vp.
אֲשַׁוַּ֣ע אֵ֭לֶי/ךָ וְ/לֹ֣א תַעֲנֵ֑/נִי עָ֝מַ֗דְתִּי וַ/תִּתְבֹּ֥נֶן בִּֽ/י
Thou art become cruell to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thy selfe against me.
GenevaThou turnest thy selfe cruelly against me, and art enemie vnto mee with the strength of thine hand.
תֵּהָפֵ֣ךְ לְ/אַכְזָ֣ר לִ֑/י בְּ/עֹ֖צֶם יָדְ/ךָ֣ תִשְׂטְמֵֽ/נִי
Thou liftest me vp to the wind: thou causest me to ride vpon it, and dissoluest my substance.
GenevaThou takest me vp and causest mee to ride vpon the winde, and makest my strength to faile.
תִּשָּׂאֵ֣/נִי אֶל ר֭וּחַ תַּרְכִּיבֵ֑/נִי וּ֝/תְמֹגְגֵ֗/נִי תשוה
For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all liuing.
GenevaSurely I knowe that thou wilt bring mee to death, and to the house appoynted for all the liuing.
כִּֽי יָ֭דַעְתִּי מָ֣וֶת תְּשִׁיבֵ֑/נִי וּ/בֵ֖ית מוֹעֵ֣ד לְ/כָל חָֽי
Howbeit he will not stretch out his hand to the graue, though they cry in his destruction.

אַ֣ךְ לֹא בְ֭/עִי יִשְׁלַח יָ֑ד אִם בְּ֝/פִיד֗/וֹ לָהֶ֥ן שֽׁוּעַ
Did not I weepe for him that was in trouble? was not my soule grieued for the poore?
GenevaDid not I weepe with him that was in trouble? was not my soule in heauinesse for the poore?
אִם לֹ֣א בָ֭כִיתִי לִ/קְשֵׁה י֑וֹם עָֽגְמָ֥ה נַ֝פְשִׁ֗/י לָ/אֶבְיֽוֹן
When I looked for good, then euill came vnto mee: and when I waited for light, there came darkenes.

כִּ֤י ט֣וֹב קִ֭וִּיתִי וַ/יָּ֣בֹא רָ֑ע וַֽ/אֲיַחֲלָ֥ה לְ֝/א֗וֹר וַ/יָּ֥בֹא אֹֽפֶל
My bowels boyled and rested not: the dayes of affliction preuented mee.

מֵעַ֖/י רֻתְּח֥וּ וְ/לֹא דָ֗מּוּ קִדְּמֻ֥/נִי יְמֵי עֹֽנִי
I went mourning without the Sunne: I stood vp, and I cried in the Congregation.

קֹדֵ֣ר הִ֭לַּכְתִּי בְּ/לֹ֣א חַמָּ֑ה קַ֖מְתִּי בַ/קָּהָ֣ל אֲשַׁוֵּֽעַ
I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owles.

אָ֭ח הָיִ֣יתִי לְ/תַנִּ֑ים וְ֝/רֵ֗עַ לִ/בְנ֥וֹת יַעֲנָֽה
My skinne is blacke vpon mee, and my bones are burnt with heat.
GenevaMy skinne is blacke vpon me, and my bones are burnt with heate.
ע֭וֹרִ/י שָׁחַ֣ר מֵ/עָלָ֑/י וְ/עַצְמִ/י חָ֝֗רָה מִנִּי חֹֽרֶב
My harpe also is turned to mourning, and my organe into the voyce of them that weepe.
GenevaTherefore mine harpe is turned to mourning, and mine organs into the voyce of them that weepe.
וַ/יְהִ֣י לְ֭/אֵבֶל כִּנֹּרִ֑/י וְ֝/עֻגָבִ֗/י לְ/ק֣וֹל בֹּכִֽים
