Chapter 18
Job 18
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite and said,
GenevaThen answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
וַ֭/יַּעַן בִּלְדַּ֥ד הַ/שֻּׁחִ֗י וַ/יֹּאמַֽר
How long will it bee, ere you make an ende of words? Marke, and afterwards we will speake.
GenevaWhen will yee make an ende of your words? cause vs to vnderstande, and then wee will speake.
עַד אָ֤נָה תְּשִׂימ֣וּ/ן קִנְצֵ֣י לְ/מִלִּ֑ין תָּ֝בִ֗ינוּ וְ/אַחַ֥ר נְדַבֵּֽר
Wherefore are wee counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?
GenevaWherefore are wee counted as beastes, and are vile in your sight?
מַ֭דּוּעַ נֶחְשַׁ֣בְנוּ כַ/בְּהֵמָ֑ה נִ֝טְמִ֗ינוּ בְּ/עֵינֵי/כֶֽם
He teareth himselfe in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rocke bee remooued out of his place?
GenevaThou art as one that teareth his soule in his anger. Shall the earth bee forsaken for thy sake? or the rocke remoued out of his place?
טֹֽרֵ֥ף נַפְשׁ֗/וֹ בְּ/אַ֫פּ֥/וֹ הַ֭/לְמַעַנְ/ךָ תֵּעָ֣זַב אָ֑רֶץ וְ/יֶעְתַּק צ֝֗וּר מִ/מְּקֹמֽ/וֹ
Yea, the light of the wicked shalbe put out, and the sparke of his fire shall not shine.
GenevaYea, the light of the wicked shalbe quenched, and the sparke of his fire shall not shine.
גַּ֤ם א֣וֹר רְשָׁעִ֣ים יִדְעָ֑ךְ וְ/לֹֽא יִ֝גַּ֗הּ שְׁבִ֣יב אִשּֽׁ/וֹ
The light shalbe darke in his tabernacle, and his candle shalbe put out with him.
GenevaThe light shalbe darke in his dwelling, and his candle shalbe put out with him.
א֭וֹר חָשַׁ֣ךְ בְּ/אָהֳל֑/וֹ וְ֝/נֵר֗/וֹ עָלָ֥י/ו יִדְעָֽךְ
The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his owne counsell shall cast him downe.
GenevaThe steps of his strength shalbe restrained, and his owne counsell shall cast him downe.
יֵֽ֭צְרוּ צַעֲדֵ֣י אוֹנ֑/וֹ וְֽ/תַשְׁלִיכֵ֥/הוּ עֲצָתֽ/וֹ
For hee is cast into a net by his owne feete, & he walketh vpon a snare.
GenevaFor hee is taken in the net by his feete, and he walketh vpon the snares.
כִּֽי שֻׁלַּ֣ח בְּ/רֶ֣שֶׁת בְּ/רַגְלָ֑י/ו וְ/עַל שְׂ֝בָכָ֗ה יִתְהַלָּֽךְ
The grinne shall take him by the heele, and the robber shall preuaile against him.
GenevaThe grenne shall take him by the heele, and the theefe shall come vpon him.
יֹאחֵ֣ז בְּ/עָקֵ֣ב פָּ֑ח יַחֲזֵ֖ק עָלָ֣י/ו צַמִּֽים
The snare is laide for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
GenevaA snare is layed for him in the ground, and a trappe for him in the way.
טָמ֣וּן בָּ/אָ֣רֶץ חַבְל֑/וֹ וּ֝/מַלְכֻּדְתּ֗/וֹ עֲלֵ֣י נָתִֽיב
Terrours shall make him afraid on euery side, and shall driue him to his feete.
GenevaFearefulnesse shall make him afrayde on euery side, and shall driue him to his feete.
סָ֭בִיב בִּֽעֲתֻ֣/הוּ בַלָּה֑וֹת וֶ/הֱפִיצֻ֥/הוּ לְ/רַגְלָֽי/ו
His strength shalbe hunger-bitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.
GenevaHis strength shalbe famine: and destruction shalbe readie at his side.
יְהִי רָעֵ֥ב אֹנ֑/וֹ וְ֝/אֵ֗יד נָכ֥וֹן לְ/צַלְעֽ/וֹ
It shall deuoure the strength of his skinne: euen the first borne of death shall deuoure his strength.
GenevaIt shall deuoure the inner partes of his skinne, and the first borne of death shall deuoure his strength.
יֹ֭אכַל בַּדֵּ֣י עוֹר֑/וֹ יֹאכַ֥ל בַּ֝דָּ֗י/ו בְּכ֣וֹר מָֽוֶת
His confidence shalbe rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrours.
GenevaHis hope shalbe rooted out of his dwelling, and shall cause him to go to the King of feare.
יִנָּתֵ֣ק מֵ֭/אָהֳל/וֹ מִבְטַח֑/וֹ וְ֝/תַצְעִדֵ֗/הוּ לְ/מֶ֣לֶךְ בַּלָּהֽוֹת
It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered vpon his habitation.
GenevaFeare shall dwell in his house (because it is not his) and brimstone shalbe scattered vpon his habitation.
תִּשְׁכּ֣וֹן בְּ֭/אָהֳל/וֹ מִ/בְּלִי ל֑/וֹ יְזֹרֶ֖ה עַל נָוֵ֣/הוּ גָפְרִֽית
His rootes shall be dryed vp beneath: and aboue shall his branch be cut off.
GenevaHis rootes shalbe dryed vp beneath, and aboue shall his branche be cut downe.
מִ֭/תַּחַת שָֽׁרָשָׁ֣י/ו יִבָ֑שׁוּ וּ֝/מִ/מַּ֗עַל יִמַּ֥ל קְצִירֽ/וֹ
His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and hee shall haue no name in the streete.
GenevaHis remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall haue no name in the streete.
זִֽכְר/וֹ אָ֭בַד מִנִּי אָ֑רֶץ וְ/לֹא שֵׁ֥ם ל֝֗/וֹ עַל פְּנֵי חֽוּץ
He shall be driuen from light into darkenesse, and chased out of the world.
GenevaThey shall driue him out of the light vnto darkenesse, and chase him out of the world.
יֶ֭הְדְּפֻ/הוּ מֵ/א֣וֹר אֶל חֹ֑שֶׁךְ וּֽ/מִ/תֵּבֵ֥ל יְנִדֻּֽ/הוּ
Hee shall neither haue sonne nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.
GenevaHee shall neither haue sonne nor nephewe among his people, nor any posteritie in his dwellings.
לֹ֘א נִ֤ין ל֣/וֹ וְ/לֹא נֶ֣כֶד בְּ/עַמּ֑/וֹ וְ/אֵ֥ין שָׂ֝רִ֗יד בִּ/מְגוּרָֽי/ו
They that come after him shalbe astonied at his day, as they that went before, were affrighted.
GenevaThe posteritie shalbe astonied at his day, and feare shall come vpon the ancient.
עַל י֭וֹמ/וֹ נָשַׁ֣מּוּ אַחֲרֹנִ֑ים וְ֝/קַדְמֹנִ֗ים אָ֣חֲזוּ שָֽׂעַר
Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
GenevaSurely such are the habitations of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
אַךְ אֵ֭לֶּה מִשְׁכְּנ֣וֹת עַוָּ֑ל וְ֝/זֶ֗ה מְק֣וֹם לֹא יָדַֽע אֵֽל
