Isaiah 2
The word that Isaiah, the sonne of Amoz, sawe concerning Iudah and Ierusalem.
GenevaThe worde that Isaiah the sonne of Amoz sawe vpon Iudah and Ierusalem.
הַ/דָּבָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָזָ֔ה יְשַֽׁעְיָ֖הוּ בֶּן אָמ֑וֹץ עַל יְהוּדָ֖ה וִ/ירוּשָׁלִָֽם
And it shall come to passe in the last dayes, that the mountaine of the LORDs house shall be established in the top of the mountaines, and shall be exalted aboue the hilles; and all nations shall flow vnto it.
GenevaIt shall be in the last dayes, that the mountaine of the house of the Lord shalbe prepared in the top of the mountaines, and shall be exalted aboue the hilles, and all nations shall flowe vnto it.
וְ/הָיָ֣ה בְּ/אַחֲרִ֣ית הַ/יָּמִ֗ים נָכ֨וֹן יִֽהְיֶ֜ה הַ֤ר בֵּית יְהוָה֙ בְּ/רֹ֣אשׁ הֶ/הָרִ֔ים וְ/נִשָּׂ֖א מִ/גְּבָע֑וֹת וְ/נָהֲר֥וּ אֵלָ֖י/ו כָּל הַ/גּוֹיִֽם
And many people shall goe & say; Come yee and let vs go vp to the mountaine of the LORD, to the house of the God of Iacob, and he will teach vs of his wayes, and we will walke in his pathes: for out of Zion shall goe forth the lawe, and the word of the LORD from Ierusalem.
GenevaAnd many people shall go, and say, Come, and let vs go vp to the mountaine of the Lord, to the house of the God of Iaakob, and hee will teach vs his wayes, and we will walke in his paths: for the Lawe shall go foorth of Zion, and the worde of the Lord from Ierusalem,
וְֽ/הָלְכ֞וּ עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֗ים וְ/אָמְרוּ֙ לְכ֣וּ וְ/נַעֲלֶ֣ה אֶל הַר יְהוָ֗ה אֶל בֵּית֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְ/יֹרֵ֨/נוּ֙ מִ/דְּרָכָ֔י/ו וְ/נֵלְכָ֖ה בְּ/אֹרְחֹתָ֑י/ו כִּ֤י מִ/צִּיּוֹן֙ תֵּצֵ֣א תוֹרָ֔ה וּ/דְבַר יְהוָ֖ה מִ/ירוּשָׁלִָֽם
And hee shall iudge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beate their swords into plow-shares, and their speares into pruning hookes: nation shall not lift vp sword against nation, neither shall they learne warre any more.
GenevaAnd he shall iudge among the nations, and rebuke many people: they shall breake their swords also into mattocks, and their speares into siethes: nation shall not lift vp a sworde against nation, neither shall they learne to fight any more.
וְ/שָׁפַט֙ בֵּ֣ין הַ/גּוֹיִ֔ם וְ/הוֹכִ֖יחַ לְ/עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים וְ/כִתְּת֨וּ חַרְבוֹתָ֜/ם לְ/אִתִּ֗ים וַ/חֲנִיתֽוֹתֵי/הֶם֙ לְ/מַזְמֵר֔וֹת לֹא יִשָּׂ֨א ג֤וֹי אֶל גּוֹי֙ חֶ֔רֶב וְ/לֹא יִלְמְד֥וּ ע֖וֹד מִלְחָמָֽה
O house of Iacob, come yee, and let vs walke in the light of the LORD.
GenevaO house of Iaakob, come ye, and let vs walke in the Lawe of the Lord.
בֵּ֖ית יַעֲקֹ֑ב לְכ֥וּ וְ/נֵלְכָ֖ה בְּ/א֥וֹר יְהוָֽה
¶ Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Iacob; because they be replenished from the East, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselues in the children of strangers.
GenevaSurely thou hast forsaken thy people, the house of Iaakob, because they are full of the East maners, and are sorcerers as the Philistims, and abound with strange children.
כִּ֣י נָטַ֗שְׁתָּה עַמְּ/ךָ֙ בֵּ֣ית יַעֲקֹ֔ב כִּ֤י מָלְאוּ֙ מִ/קֶּ֔דֶם וְ/עֹֽנְנִ֖ים כַּ/פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וּ/בְ/יַלְדֵ֥י נָכְרִ֖ים יַשְׂפִּֽיקוּ
Their land also is full of siluer and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures: their land is also full of horses; neither is there any end of their charets.
GenevaTheir land also was full of siluer and golde, and there was none ende of their treasures: and their land was full of horses, and their charets were infinite.
וַ/תִּמָּלֵ֤א אַרְצ/וֹ֙ כֶּ֣סֶף וְ/זָהָ֔ב וְ/אֵ֥ין קֵ֖צֶה לְ/אֹצְרֹתָ֑י/ו וַ/תִּמָּלֵ֤א אַרְצ/וֹ֙ סוּסִ֔ים וְ/אֵ֥ין קֵ֖צֶה לְ/מַרְכְּבֹתָֽי/ו
Their land also is full of idoles: they worship the worke of their owne hands, that which their owne fingers haue made.

וַ/תִּמָּלֵ֥א אַרְצ֖/וֹ אֱלִילִ֑ים לְ/מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה יָדָי/ו֙ יִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֔וּ לַ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשׂ֖וּ אֶצְבְּעֹתָֽי/ו
And the meane man boweth downe, and the great man humbleth himselfe; therefore forgiue them not.
GenevaAnd a man bowed himselfe, and a man humbled himselfe: therefore spare them not.
וַ/יִּשַּׁ֥ח אָדָ֖ם וַ/יִּשְׁפַּל אִ֑ישׁ וְ/אַל תִּשָּׂ֖א לָ/הֶֽם
¶ Enter into the rocke, and hide thee in the dust, for feare of the LORD, and for the glory of his Maiestie.
GenevaEnter into the rocke, and hide thee in the dust from before the feare of the Lord, and from the glory of his maiestie.
בּ֣וֹא בַ/צּ֔וּר וְ/הִטָּמֵ֖ן בֶּֽ/עָפָ֑ר מִ/פְּנֵי֙ פַּ֣חַד יְהוָ֔ה וּ/מֵ/הֲדַ֖ר גְּאֹנֽ/וֹ
The loftie lookes of man shalbe humbled, and the hautines of men shalbe bowed downe: and the LORD alone shalbe exalted in that day.
GenevaThe hie looke of man shall be humbled, and the loftinesse of men shalbe abased, and the Lord onely shall be exalted in that day.
עֵינֵ֞י גַּבְה֤וּת אָדָם֙ שָׁפֵ֔ל וְ/שַׁ֖ח ר֣וּם אֲנָשִׁ֑ים וְ/נִשְׂגַּ֧ב יְהוָ֛ה לְ/בַדּ֖/וֹ בַּ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/הֽוּא
For the day of the LORD of hostes shall bee vpon euery one that is proud and loftie, and vpon euery one that is lifted vp, and he shalbe brought low;
GenevaFor the day of the Lord of hostes is vpon all the proude and hautie, and vpon all that is exalted: and it shalbe made lowe.
כִּ֣י י֞וֹם לַ/יהוָ֧ה צְבָא֛וֹת עַ֥ל כָּל גֵּאֶ֖ה וָ/רָ֑ם וְ/עַ֖ל כָּל נִשָּׂ֥א וְ/שָׁפֵֽל
And vpon all the Cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted vp; and vpon all the okes of Bashan,
GenevaEuen vpon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are hie and exalted, and vpon all the okes of Bashan,
וְ/עַל֙ כָּל אַרְזֵ֣י הַ/לְּבָנ֔וֹן הָ/רָמִ֖ים וְ/הַ/נִּשָּׂאִ֑ים וְ/עַ֖ל כָּל אַלּוֹנֵ֥י הַ/בָּשָֽׁן
And vpon all the high mountaines, and vpon all the hilles that are lifted vp,
GenevaAnd vpon all the hie mountaines, and vpon all the hilles that are lifted vp,
וְ/עַ֖ל כָּל הֶ/הָרִ֣ים הָ/רָמִ֑ים וְ/עַ֖ל כָּל הַ/גְּבָע֥וֹת הַ/נִּשָּׂאֽוֹת
And vpon euery high tower, and vpon euery fenced wall,
GenevaAnd vpon euery hie tower, and vpon euery strong wall,
וְ/עַ֖ל כָּל מִגְדָּ֣ל גָּבֹ֑הַ וְ/עַ֖ל כָּל חוֹמָ֥ה בְצוּרָֽה
And vpon all the ships of Tarshish, and vpon all pleasant pictures.
GenevaAnd vpon all the shippes of Tarshish, and vpon all pleasant pictures.
וְ/עַ֖ל כָּל אֳנִיּ֣וֹת תַּרְשִׁ֑ישׁ וְ/עַ֖ל כָּל שְׂכִיּ֥וֹת הַ/חֶמְדָּֽה
And the loftinesse of man shall be bowed downe, and the hautinesse of men shalbe made low: and the LORD alone shalbe exalted in that day.
GenevaAnd the hautinesse of men shalbe brought low, and the loftinesse of men shalbe abased, and the Lord shall onely be exalted in that day.
וְ/שַׁח֙ גַּבְה֣וּת הָ/אָדָ֔ם וְ/שָׁפֵ֖ל ר֣וּם אֲנָשִׁ֑ים וְ/נִשְׂגַּ֧ב יְהוָ֛ה לְ/בַדּ֖/וֹ בַּ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/הֽוּא
And the idoles hee shall vtterly abolish.
GenevaAnd the idoles will he vtterly destroy.
וְ/הָ/אֱלִילִ֖ים כָּלִ֥יל יַחֲלֹֽף
And they shall goe into the holes of the rocks, and into the caues of the earth for feare of the LORD, and for the glory of his Maiestie; when hee ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
GenevaThen they shall goe into the holes of the rockes, and into the caues of the earth, from before the feare of the Lord, and from the glory of his maiestie, when he shall arise to destroy the earth.
וּ/בָ֨אוּ֙ בִּ/מְעָר֣וֹת צֻרִ֔ים וּ/בִ/מְחִלּ֖וֹת עָפָ֑ר מִ/פְּנֵ֞י פַּ֤חַד יְהוָה֙ וּ/מֵ/הֲדַ֣ר גְּאוֹנ֔/וֹ בְּ/קוּמ֖/וֹ לַ/עֲרֹ֥ץ הָ/אָֽרֶץ
In that day a man shall cast his idoles of siluer, and his idoles of golde which they made each one for himselfe to worship, to the moules and to the battes:
GenevaAt that day shall man cast away his siluer idoles, and his golden idoles (which they had made themselues to worship them) to the mowles and to the backes,
בַּ/יּ֤וֹם הַ/הוּא֙ יַשְׁלִ֣יךְ הָ/אָדָ֔ם אֵ֚ת אֱלִילֵ֣י כַסְפּ֔/וֹ וְ/אֵ֖ת אֱלִילֵ֣י זְהָב֑/וֹ אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָֽשׂוּ ל/וֹ֙ לְ/הִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֺ֔ת לַ/חְפֹּ֥ר פֵּר֖וֹת וְ/לָ/עֲטַלֵּפִֽים
To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rockes, for feare of the LORD, and for the glorie of his Maiestie; when hee ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
GenevaTo goe into the holes of the rockes, and into the toppes of the ragged rockes from before the feare of the Lord, and from the glory of his maiestie, when he shall rise to destroy the earth.
לָ/בוֹא֙ בְּ/נִקְר֣וֹת הַ/צֻּרִ֔ים וּ/בִ/סְעִפֵ֖י הַ/סְּלָעִ֑ים מִ/פְּנֵ֞י פַּ֤חַד יְהוָה֙ וּ/מֵ/הֲדַ֣ר גְּאוֹנ֔/וֹ בְּ/קוּמ֖/וֹ לַ/עֲרֹ֥ץ הָ/אָֽרֶץ
Cease ye from man whose breath is in his nostrels: for wherein is hee to be accounted of?
