Deuteronomy 14
Yee are the children of the LORD your God: yee shall not cutte your selues, nor make any baldnesse betweene your eyes for the dead.
GenevaYe are the children of the Lord your God. Ye shall not cut yourselues, nor make you any baldnesse betweene your eyes for the dead.
בָּנִ֣ים אַתֶּ֔ם לַֽ/יהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵי/כֶ֑ם לֹ֣א תִתְגֹּֽדְד֗וּ וְ/לֹֽא תָשִׂ֧ימוּ קָרְחָ֛ה בֵּ֥ין עֵינֵי/כֶ֖ם לָ/מֵֽת
For thou art an holy people vnto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people vnto himselfe, aboue all the nations that are vpon the earth.
GenevaFor thou art an holy people vnto ye Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a precious people vnto himselfe, aboue all the people that are vpon the earth.
כִּ֣י עַ֤ם קָדוֹשׁ֙ אַתָּ֔ה לַ/יהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֶ֑י/ךָ וּ/בְ/ךָ֞ בָּחַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה לִֽ/הְי֥וֹת ל/וֹ֙ לְ/עַ֣ם סְגֻלָּ֔ה מִ/כֹּל֙ הָֽ/עַמִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל פְּנֵ֥י הָ/אֲדָמָֽה
¶ Thou shalt not eate any abominable thing.
GenevaThou shalt eate no maner of abomination.
לֹ֥א תֹאכַ֖ל כָּל תּוֹעֵבָֽה
These are the beasts which yee shall eate: the oxe, the sheepe, and the goat,
GenevaThese are the beastes, which ye shall eate, the beefe, the sheepe, and the goate,
זֹ֥את הַ/בְּהֵמָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֹּאכֵ֑לוּ שׁ֕וֹר שֵׂ֥ה כְשָׂבִ֖ים וְ/שֵׂ֥ה עִזִּֽים
The Hart, and the Roe bucke, and the fallow deere, and the wilde goat, and the Pygarg, and the wilde oxe, and the chamois.
GenevaThe hart, and the roe buck, and the bugle, and the wilde goate, and the vnicorne, and the wilde oxe, and the chamois.
אַיָּ֥ל וּ/צְבִ֖י וְ/יַחְמ֑וּר וְ/אַקּ֥וֹ וְ/דִישֹׁ֖ן וּ/תְא֥וֹ וָ/זָֽמֶר
And euery beast that parteth the hoofe, and cleaueth the clift into two clawes, and cheweth the cud amongst the beasts: that ye shall eate.
GenevaAnd euery beast that parteth ye hoofe, and cleaueth the clift into two clawes, and is of the beasts that cheweth the cudde, that shall ye eate.
וְ/כָל בְּהֵמָ֞ה מַפְרֶ֣סֶת פַּרְסָ֗ה וְ/שֹׁסַ֤עַת שֶׁ֨סַע֙ שְׁתֵּ֣י פְרָס֔וֹת מַעֲלַ֥ת גֵּרָ֖ה בַּ/בְּהֵמָ֑ה אֹתָ֖/הּ תֹּאכֵֽלוּ
Neuerthelesse these yee shall not eate, of them that chew the cud, or of them that diuide the clouen hoofe, as the camel, and the hare, and the cony: for they chew the cudde, but diuide not the hoofe, therefore they are vncleane vnto you.
GenevaBut these ye shall not eate, of them that chew the cud, and of them that deuide and cleaue the hoofe onely: ye camell, nor the hare, nor the cony: for they chewe the cudde, but deuide not ye hoofe: therefore they shall be vncleane vnto you:
אַ֣ךְ אֶת זֶ֞ה לֹ֤א תֹֽאכְלוּ֙ מִ/מַּֽעֲלֵ֣י הַ/גֵּרָ֔ה וּ/מִ/מַּפְרִיסֵ֥י הַ/פַּרְסָ֖ה הַ/שְּׁסוּעָ֑ה אֶֽת הַ֠/גָּמָל וְ/אֶת הָ/אַרְנֶ֨בֶת וְ/אֶת הַ/שָּׁפָ֜ן כִּֽי מַעֲלֵ֧ה גֵרָ֣ה הֵ֗מָּה וּ/פַרְסָה֙ לֹ֣א הִפְרִ֔יסוּ טְמֵאִ֥ים הֵ֖ם לָ/כֶֽם
And the swine, because it diuideth the hoofe, yet cheweth not the cud, it is vncleane vnto you: ye shall not eate of their flesh, nor touch their dead carkeise.
GenevaAlso the swine, because he deuideth the hoofe, and cheweth not the cud, shalbe vncleane vnto you: ye shall not eate of their flesh, nor touch their dead carkeises.
וְ/אֶת הַ֠/חֲזִיר כִּֽי מַפְרִ֨יס פַּרְסָ֥ה הוּא֙ וְ/לֹ֣א גֵרָ֔ה טָמֵ֥א ה֖וּא לָ/כֶ֑ם מִ/בְּשָׂרָ/ם֙ לֹ֣א תֹאכֵ֔לוּ וּ/בְ/נִבְלָתָ֖/ם לֹ֥א תִגָּֽעוּ
¶ These yee shall eate of all that are in the waters: all that haue finnes and scales shall ye eate:

אֶת זֶה֙ תֹּֽאכְל֔וּ מִ/כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּ/מָּ֑יִם כֹּ֧ל אֲשֶׁר ל֛/וֹ סְנַפִּ֥יר וְ/קַשְׂקֶ֖שֶׂת תֹּאכֵֽלוּ
And whatsoeuer hath not sinnes and scales, ye may not eat: it is vncleane vnto you.
GenevaAnd whatsoeuer hath no finnes nor scales, ye shall not eate: it shall be vncleane vnto you.
וְ/כֹ֨ל אֲשֶׁ֧ר אֵֽין ל֛/וֹ סְנַפִּ֥יר וְ/קַשְׂקֶ֖שֶׂת לֹ֣א תֹאכֵ֑לוּ טָמֵ֥א ה֖וּא לָ/כֶֽם
¶ Of all cleane birds ye shall eate.
GenevaOf all cleane birdes ye shall eate:
כָּל צִפּ֥וֹר טְהֹרָ֖ה תֹּאכֵֽלוּ
But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the Eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,
GenevaBut these are they, whereof ye shall not eate: the eagle, nor the goshawke, nor the osprey,
וְ/זֶ֕ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא תֹאכְל֖וּ מֵ/הֶ֑ם הַ/נֶּ֥שֶׁר וְ/הַ/פֶּ֖רֶס וְ/הָֽ/עָזְנִיָּֽה
And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kinde,
GenevaNor the glead nor the kite, nor the vulture, after their kind,
וְ/הָ/רָאָה֙ וְ/אֶת הָ֣/אַיָּ֔ה וְ/הַ/דַּיָּ֖ה לְ/מִינָֽ/הּ
And euery rauen after his kinde,
GenevaNor all kinde of rauens,
וְ/אֵ֥ת כָּל עֹרֵ֖ב לְ/מִינֽ/וֹ
And the owle, & the night hawke, and the cuckow, and the hawke after his kinde,
GenevaNor the ostrich, nor the nightcrow, nor the semeaw, nor the hawke after her kinde,
וְ/אֵת֙ בַּ֣ת הַֽ/יַּעֲנָ֔ה וְ/אֶת הַ/תַּחְמָ֖ס וְ/אֶת הַ/שָּׁ֑חַף וְ/אֶת הַ/נֵּ֖ץ לְ/מִינֵֽ/הוּ
The little owle, and the great owle, and the swanne,
GenevaNeither the litle owle, nor the great owle, nor the redshanke,
אֶת הַ/כּ֥וֹס וְ/אֶת הַ/יַּנְשׁ֖וּף וְ/הַ/תִּנְשָֽׁמֶת
And the pellicane, and the Geer-eagle, and the cormorant,
GenevaNor the pellicane, nor the swanne, nor the cormorant:
וְ/הַ/קָּאָ֥ת וְ/אֶֽת הָ/רָחָ֖מָ/ה וְ/אֶת הַ/שָּׁלָֽךְ
And the Storke, and the Heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the batte.
GenevaThe storke also, and the heron in his kinde, nor the lapwing, nor the backe.
וְ/הַ֣/חֲסִידָ֔ה וְ/הָ/אֲנָפָ֖ה לְ/מִינָ֑/הּ וְ/הַ/דּוּכִיפַ֖ת וְ/הָ/עֲטַלֵּֽף
And euery creeping thing that flyeth, is vncleane vnto you: they shall not be eaten.
GenevaAnd euery creeping thing that flieth, shall be vncleane vnto you: it shall not be eaten.
וְ/כֹל֙ שֶׁ֣רֶץ הָ/ע֔וֹף טָמֵ֥א ה֖וּא לָ/כֶ֑ם לֹ֖א יֵאָכֵֽלוּ
But of all cleane foules ye may eat.
GenevaBut of all cleane foules ye may eate.
כָּל ע֥וֹף טָה֖וֹר תֹּאכֵֽלוּ
¶ Ye shall not eate of any thing that dieth of it selfe: thou shalt giue it vnto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eate it, or thou mayest sell it vnto an alien: for thou art an holy people vnto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kidde in his mothers milke.
GenevaYe shall eate of nothing that dieth alone, but thou shalt giue it vnto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eate it: or thou maiest sell it vnto a stranger: for thou art an holy people vnto the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mothers milke.
לֹ֣א תֹאכְל֣וּ כָל נְ֠בֵלָה לַ/גֵּ֨ר אֲשֶׁר בִּ/שְׁעָרֶ֜י/ךָ תִּתְּנֶ֣נָּ/ה וַ/אֲכָלָ֗/הּ א֤וֹ מָכֹר֙ לְ/נָכְרִ֔י כִּ֣י עַ֤ם קָדוֹשׁ֙ אַתָּ֔ה לַ/יהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֶ֑י/ךָ לֹֽא תְבַשֵּׁ֥ל גְּדִ֖י בַּ/חֲלֵ֥ב אִמּֽ/וֹ
Thou shalt truely tithe all the increase of thy seede, that the field bringeth forth yeere by yeere.
GenevaThou shalt giue the tithe of all the increase of thy seede, that commeth foorth of the fielde yeere by yeere.
עַשֵּׂ֣ר תְּעַשֵּׂ֔ר אֵ֖ת כָּל תְּבוּאַ֣ת זַרְעֶ֑/ךָ הַ/יֹּצֵ֥א הַ/שָּׂדֶ֖ה שָׁנָ֥ה שָׁנָֽה
And thou shalt eate before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall chuse to place his Name there, the tithe of thy corne, of thy wine, and of thine oyle, and the firstlings of thy herdes, and of thy flockes: that thou mayest learne to feare the LORD thy God alwayes.
GenevaAnd thou shalt eate before the Lord thy God (in the place which he shall chose to cause his Name to dwell there) the tithe of thy corne, of thy wine, and of thine oyle, and the first borne of thy kine and of thy sheepe, that thou maiest learne to feare the Lord thy God alway.
וְ/אָכַלְתָּ֞ לִ/פְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗י/ךָ בַּ/מָּק֣וֹם אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר֮ לְ/שַׁכֵּ֣ן שְׁמ֣/וֹ שָׁם֒ מַעְשַׂ֤ר דְּגָֽנְ/ךָ֙ תִּֽירֹשְׁ/ךָ֣ וְ/יִצְהָרֶ֔/ךָ וּ/בְכֹרֹ֥ת בְּקָרְ/ךָ֖ וְ/צֹאנֶ֑/ךָ לְמַ֣עַן תִּלְמַ֗ד לְ/יִרְאָ֛ה אֶת יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖י/ךָ כָּל הַ/יָּמִֽים
And if the way bee too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carie it, or if the place be too farre from thee, which the LORD thy God shall chuse to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:
GenevaAnd if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to cary it, because the place is farre from thee, where the Lord thy God shall chose to set his Name, when the Lord thy God shall blesse thee,
וְ/כִֽי יִרְבֶּ֨ה מִמְּ/ךָ֜ הַ/דֶּ֗רֶךְ כִּ֣י לֹ֣א תוּכַ֘ל שְׂאֵת/וֹ֒ כִּֽי יִרְחַ֤ק מִמְּ/ךָ֙ הַ/מָּק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִבְחַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔י/ךָ לָ/שׂ֥וּם שְׁמ֖/וֹ שָׁ֑ם כִּ֥י יְבָרֶכְ/ךָ֖ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽי/ךָ
Then shalt thou turne it into money, and binde vp the money in thine hand, and shalt goe vnto the place which the LORD thy God shal chuse.
GenevaThen shalt thou make it in money, and take the money in thine hand, and goe vnto the place which the Lord thy God shall chose.
וְ/נָתַתָּ֖ה בַּ/כָּ֑סֶף וְ/צַרְתָּ֤ הַ/כֶּ֨סֶף֙ בְּ/יָ֣דְ/ךָ֔ וְ/הָֽלַכְתָּ֙ אֶל הַ/מָּק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִבְחַ֛ר יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖י/ךָ בּֽ/וֹ
And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoeuer thy soule lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheepe, or for wine, or for strong drinke, or for whatsoeuer thy soule desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt reioyce, thou and thine houshold.
GenevaAnd thou shalt bestowe the money for whatsoeuer thine heart desireth: whether it be oxe, or sheepe, or wine, or strong drinke, or whatsoeuer thine heart desireth: and shalt eate it there before the Lord thy God, and reioyce, both thou, and thine household.
וְ/נָתַתָּ֣ה הַ/כֶּ֡סֶף בְּ/כֹל֩ אֲשֶׁר תְּאַוֶּ֨ה נַפְשְׁ/ךָ֜ בַּ/בָּקָ֣ר וּ/בַ/צֹּ֗אן וּ/בַ/יַּ֨יִן֙ וּ/בַ/שֵּׁכָ֔ר וּ/בְ/כֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּֽשְׁאָלְ/ךָ֖ נַפְשֶׁ֑/ךָ וְ/אָכַ֣לְתָּ שָּׁ֗ם לִ/פְנֵי֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔י/ךָ וְ/שָׂמַחְתָּ֖ אַתָּ֥ה וּ/בֵיתֶֽ/ךָ
And the Leuite that is within thy gates, thou shalt not forsake him: for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.
GenevaAnd the Leuite that is within thy gates, shalt thou not forsake: for he hath neither part nor inheritance with thee.
וְ/הַ/לֵּוִ֥י אֲשֶׁר בִּ/שְׁעָרֶ֖י/ךָ לֹ֣א תַֽעַזְבֶ֑/נּוּ כִּ֣י אֵ֥ין ל֛/וֹ חֵ֥לֶק וְ/נַחֲלָ֖ה עִמָּֽ/ךְ
¶ At the end of three yeres thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same yeere, and shalt lay it vp within thy gates.

מִ/קְצֵ֣ה שָׁלֹ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֗ים תּוֹצִיא֙ אֶת כָּל מַעְשַׂר֙ תְּבוּאָ֣תְ/ךָ֔ בַּ/שָּׁנָ֖ה הַ/הִ֑וא וְ/הִנַּחְתָּ֖ בִּ/שְׁעָרֶֽי/ךָ
And the Leuite, because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger, and the fatherlesse, and the widowe which are within thy gates, shall come and shal eate, and be satisfied, that the LORD thy God may blesse thee, in all the worke of thine hande which thou doest.
GenevaThen ye Leuite shall come, because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger, and the fatherlesse, and the widowe, which are within thy gates, and shall eate, and be filled, that the Lord thy God may blesse thee in al the worke of thine hand which thou doest.
וּ/בָ֣א הַ/לֵּוִ֡י כִּ֣י אֵֽין ל/וֹ֩ חֵ֨לֶק וְ/נַחֲלָ֜ה עִמָּ֗/ךְ וְ֠/הַ/גֵּר וְ/הַ/יָּת֤וֹם וְ/הָֽ/אַלְמָנָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בִּ/שְׁעָרֶ֔י/ךָ וְ/אָכְל֖וּ וְ/שָׂבֵ֑עוּ לְמַ֤עַן יְבָרֶכְ/ךָ֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔י/ךָ בְּ/כָל מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יָדְ/ךָ֖ אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּעֲשֶֽׂה
