2 Samuel 8
And after this it came to passe, that Dauid smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and Dauid tooke Metheg-Ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
GenevaAfter this now, Dauid smote the Philistims, and subdued them, and Dauid tooke the bridle of bondage out of the hand of the Philistims.
וַֽ/יְהִי֙ אַֽחֲרֵי כֵ֔ן וַ/יַּ֥ךְ דָּוִ֛ד אֶת פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים וַ/יַּכְנִיעֵ֑/ם וַ/יִּקַּ֥ח דָּוִ֛ד אֶת מֶ֥תֶג הָ/אַמָּ֖ה מִ/יַּ֥ד פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים
And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them downe to the ground: euen with two lines measured he, to put to death, and with one full line to keepe aliue: and so the Moabites became Dauids seruants, and brought gifts.

וַ/יַּ֣ךְ אֶת מוֹאָ֗ב וַֽ/יְמַדְּדֵ֤/ם בַּ/חֶ֨בֶל֙ הַשְׁכֵּ֣ב אוֹתָ֣/ם אַ֔רְצָ/ה וַ/יְמַדֵּ֤ד שְׁנֵֽי חֲבָלִים֙ לְ/הָמִ֔ית וּ/מְלֹ֥א הַ/חֶ֖בֶל לְ/הַחֲי֑וֹת וַ/תְּהִ֤י מוֹאָב֙ לְ/דָוִ֔ד לַ/עֲבָדִ֖ים נֹשְׂאֵ֥י מִנְחָֽה
¶ Dauid smote also Hadadezer the sonne of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recouer his border at the riuer Euphrates.

And Dauid tooke from him a thousand charets, and seuen hundred horsemen, and twentie thousand footemen: and Dauid houghed all the charet horses, but reserued of them for an hundred charets.

וַ/יִּלְכֹּ֨ד דָּוִ֜ד מִמֶּ֗/נּוּ אֶ֤לֶף וּ/שְׁבַע מֵאוֹת֙ פָּרָשִׁ֔ים וְ/עֶשְׂרִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף אִ֣ישׁ רַגְלִ֑י וַ/יְעַקֵּ֤ר דָּוִד֙ אֶת כָּל הָ/רֶ֔כֶב וַ/יּוֹתֵ֥ר מִמֶּ֖/נּוּ מֵ֥אָה רָֽכֶב
And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, Dauid slew of the Syrians two and twentie thousand men.
GenevaThen came the Aramites of Dammesek to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, but Dauid slewe of the Aramites two and twenty thousande men.
וַ/תָּבֹא֙ אֲרַ֣ם דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק לַ/עְזֹ֕ר לַ/הֲדַדְעֶ֖זֶר מֶ֣לֶךְ צוֹבָ֑ה וַ/יַּ֤ךְ דָּוִד֙ בַּֽ/אֲרָ֔ם עֶשְׂרִֽים וּ/שְׁנַ֥יִם אֶ֖לֶף אִֽישׁ
Then Dauid put garisons in Syria of Damascus: And the Syrians became seruants to Dauid, and brought gifts: and the LORD preserued Dauid whithersoeuer he went.
GenevaAnd Dauid put a garison in Aram of Damesek: and the Aramites became seruants to Dauid, and brought gifts. And the Lord saued Dauid wheresoeuer he went.
וַ/יָּ֨שֶׂם דָּוִ֤ד נְצִבִים֙ בַּ/אֲרַ֣ם דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק וַ/תְּהִ֤י אֲרָם֙ לְ/דָוִ֔ד לַ/עֲבָדִ֖ים נוֹשְׂאֵ֣י מִנְחָ֑ה וַ/יֹּ֤שַׁע יְהוָה֙ אֶת דָּוִ֔ד בְּ/כֹ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽךְ
And Dauid tooke the shields of gold that were on the seruants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Ierusalem.
GenevaAnd Dauid tooke the shieldes of gold that beloged to the seruants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Ierusalem.
וַ/יִּקַּ֣ח דָּוִ֗ד אֵ֚ת שִׁלְטֵ֣י הַ/זָּהָ֔ב אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָי֔וּ אֶ֖ל עַבְדֵ֣י הֲדַדְעָ֑זֶר וַ/יְבִיאֵ֖/ם יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם
And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King Dauid tooke exceeding much brasse.
GenevaAnd out of Betah, and Berothai (cities of Hadadezer) king Dauid brought exceeding much brasse.
וּ/מִ/בֶּ֥טַח וּ/מִ/בֵּֽרֹתַ֖י עָרֵ֣י הֲדַדְעָ֑זֶר לָקַ֞ח הַ/מֶּ֧לֶךְ דָּוִ֛ד נְחֹ֖שֶׁת הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד
¶ When Toi king of Hamath heard that Dauid had smitten all the hoste of Hadadezer,

וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֕ע תֹּ֖עִי מֶ֣לֶךְ חֲמָ֑ת כִּ֚י הִכָּ֣ה דָוִ֔ד אֵ֖ת כָּל חֵ֥יל הֲדַדְעָֽזֶר
Then Toi sent Ioram his sonne vnto king Dauid to salute him, and to blesse him, because hee had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: (for Hadadezer had warres with Toi) and Ioram brought with him vessels of siluer, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brasse;

וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֣ח תֹּ֣עִי אֶת יֽוֹרָם בְּנ֣/וֹ אֶל הַ/מֶּֽלֶךְ דָּ֠וִד לִ/שְׁאָל ל֨/וֹ לְ/שָׁל֜וֹם וּֽ/לְ/בָרֲכ֗/וֹ עַל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִלְחַ֤ם בַּ/הֲדַדְעֶ֨זֶר֙ וַ/יַּכֵּ֔/הוּ כִּי אִ֛ישׁ מִלְחֲמ֥וֹת תֹּ֖עִי הָיָ֣ה הֲדַדְעָ֑זֶר וּ/בְ/יָד֗/וֹ הָי֛וּ כְּלֵֽי כֶ֥סֶף וּ/כְלֵֽי זָהָ֖ב וּ/כְלֵ֥י נְחֹֽשֶׁת
Which also king Dauid did dedicate vnto the LORD, with the siluer and gold that he had dedicate of all nations which he subdued:

גַּם אֹתָ֕/ם הִקְדִּ֛ישׁ הַ/מֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִ֖ד לַֽ/יהוָ֑ה עִם הַ/כֶּ֤סֶף וְ/הַ/זָּהָב֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִקְדִּ֔ישׁ מִ/כָּל הַ/גּוֹיִ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר כִּבֵּֽשׁ
Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, & of Amalek, and of the spoile of Hadadezer sonne of Rehob king of Zobah.

מֵ/אֲרָ֤ם וּ/מִ/מּוֹאָב֙ וּ/מִ/בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן וּ/מִ/פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים וּ/מֵֽ/עֲמָלֵ֑ק וּ/מִ/שְּׁלַ֛ל הֲדַדְעֶ֥זֶר בֶּן רְחֹ֖ב מֶ֥לֶךְ צוֹבָֽה
And Dauid gate him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteene thousand men.
GenevaSo Dauid gate a name after that hee returned, and had slayne of the Aramites in the valley of salt eighteene thousand men.
וַ/יַּ֤עַשׂ דָּוִד֙ שֵׁ֔ם בְּ/שֻׁב֕/וֹ מֵ/הַכּוֹת֥/וֹ אֶת אֲרָ֖ם בְּ/גֵיא מֶ֑לַח שְׁמוֹנָ֥ה עָשָׂ֖ר אָֽלֶף
¶ And he put garrisons in Edom; thorowout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became Dauids seruants: and the LORD preserued Dauid whithersoeuer he went.
GenevaAnd he put a garison in Edom: throughout all Edom put he souldiers, and all they of Edom became Dauids seruants: and the Lord kept Dauid whithersoeuer he went.
וַ/יָּ֨שֶׂם בֶּ/אֱד֜וֹם נְצִבִ֗ים בְּ/כָל אֱדוֹם֙ שָׂ֣ם נְצִבִ֔ים וַ/יְהִ֥י כָל אֱד֖וֹם עֲבָדִ֣ים לְ/דָוִ֑ד וַ/יּ֤וֹשַׁע יְהוָה֙ אֶת דָּוִ֔ד בְּ/כֹ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽךְ
And Dauid reigned ouer all Israel, and Dauid executed iudgement and iustice vnto all his people.

וַ/יִּמְלֹ֥ךְ דָּוִ֖ד עַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַ/יְהִ֣י דָוִ֗ד עֹשֶׂ֛ה מִשְׁפָּ֥ט וּ/צְדָקָ֖ה לְ/כָל עַמּֽ/וֹ
And Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah was ouer the host, and Iehoshaphat the sonne of Ahilud was Recorder.
GenevaAnd Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah was ouer the hoste, and Ioshaphat the sonne of Ahilud was recorder.
וְ/יוֹאָ֥ב בֶּן צְרוּיָ֖ה עַל הַ/צָּבָ֑א וִ/יהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט בֶּן אֲחִיל֖וּד מַזְכִּֽיר
And Zadok the sonne of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the sonne of Abiathar, were the Priests, and Seraiah was the scribe.
GenevaAnd Zadok the sonne of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the sonne of Abiathar were the Priestes, and Seraiah the Scribe.
וְ/צָד֧וֹק בֶּן אֲחִיט֛וּב וַ/אֲחִימֶ֥לֶךְ בֶּן אֶבְיָתָ֖ר כֹּהֲנִ֑ים וּ/שְׂרָיָ֖ה סוֹפֵֽר
And Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada was ouer both the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and Dauids sonnes were chiefe rulers.

וּ/בְנָיָ֨הוּ֙ בֶּן יְה֣וֹיָדָ֔ע וְ/הַ/כְּרֵתִ֖י וְ/הַ/פְּלֵתִ֑י וּ/בְנֵ֥י דָוִ֖ד כֹּהֲנִ֥ים הָיֽוּ
