Now Iehoram the sonne of Ahab began to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, the eighteenth yere of Iehoshaphat king of Iudah, and reigned twelue yeeres.

וִ/יהוֹרָ֣ם בֶּן אַחְאָ֗ב מָלַ֤ךְ עַל יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּ/שֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן בִּ/שְׁנַת֙ שְׁמֹנֶ֣ה עֶשְׂרֵ֔ה לִ/יהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַ/יִּמְלֹ֖ךְ שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה שָׁנָֽה
And he wrought euill in the sight of the LORD, but not like his father and like his mother; for hee put away the image of Baal that his father had made.
GenevaAnd he wrought euill in the sight of the Lord, but not like his father nor like his mother: for he tooke away the image of Baal that his father had made.
וַ/יַּעֲשֶׂ֤ה הָ/רַע֙ בְּ/עֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה רַ֕ק לֹ֥א כְ/אָבִ֖י/ו וּ/כְ/אִמּ֑/וֹ וַ/יָּ֨סַר֙ אֶת מַצְּבַ֣ת הַ/בַּ֔עַל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה אָבִֽי/ו
Neuerthelesse, hee cleaued vnto the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne; he departed not therefrom.

רַ֠ק בְּ/חַטֹּ֞אות יָרָבְעָ֧ם בֶּֽן נְבָ֛ט אֲשֶׁר הֶחֱטִ֥יא אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל דָּבֵ֑ק לֹא סָ֖ר מִמֶּֽ/נָּה
¶ And Mesha king of Moab was a sheepe-master, and rendred vnto the king of Israel an hundred thousand lambes, and an hundred thousand rammes, with the wooll.
GenevaThen Mesha King of Moab had store of sheepe, and rendred vnto the King of Israel an hundreth thousande lambes, and an hundreth thousande rammes with the wooll.
וּ/מֵישַׁ֥ע מֶֽלֶךְ מוֹאָ֖ב הָיָ֣ה נֹקֵ֑ד וְ/הֵשִׁ֤יב לְ/מֶֽלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵאָה אֶ֣לֶף כָּרִ֔ים וּ/מֵ֥אָה אֶ֖לֶף אֵילִ֥ים צָֽמֶר
But it came to passe when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

¶ And king Iehoram went out of Samaria the same time, and numbred all Israel.

וַ/יֵּצֵ֞א הַ/מֶּ֧לֶךְ יְהוֹרָ֛ם בַּ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/ה֖וּא מִ/שֹּׁמְר֑וֹן וַ/יִּפְקֹ֖ד אֶת כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
And he went, and sent to Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against mee: Wilt thou goe with mee against Moab to battell? and he said, I will goe vp: I am as thou art, my people as thy people, and my horses as thy horses.

וַ/יֵּ֡לֶךְ וַ/יִּשְׁלַח֩ אֶל יְהוֹשָׁפָ֨ט מֶֽלֶךְ יְהוּדָ֜ה לֵ/אמֹ֗ר מֶ֤לֶךְ מוֹאָב֙ פָּשַׁ֣ע בִּ֔/י הֲ/תֵלֵ֥ךְ אִתִּ֛/י אֶל מוֹאָ֖ב לַ/מִּלְחָמָ֑ה וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֶעֱלֶ֔ה כָּמ֧וֹ/נִי כָמ֛וֹ/ךָ כְּ/עַמִּ֥/י כְ/עַמֶּ֖/ךָ כְּ/סוּסַ֥/י כְּ/סוּסֶֽי/ךָ
And he said, Which way shall we goe vp? And he answered, The way through the wildernesse of Edom.
GenevaThen said he, What way shall we goe vp? And he answered, The way of the wildernesse of Edom.
וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר אֵי זֶ֥ה הַ/דֶּ֖רֶךְ נַעֲלֶ֑ה וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר דֶּ֖רֶךְ מִדְבַּ֥ר אֱדֽוֹם
So the king of Israel went, and the king of Iudah, and the king of Edom: and they fetcht a compasse of seuen dayes iourney: and there was no water for the hoste, and for the cattell that followed them.
GenevaSo went the King of Israel and the king of Iudah, and the King of Edom, and when they had compassed the way seuen dayes, they had no water for the hoste, nor for the cattell that followed them.
וַ/יֵּלֶךְ֩ מֶ֨לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל וּ/מֶֽלֶך יְהוּדָה֙ וּ/מֶ֣לֶךְ אֱד֔וֹם וַ/יָּסֹ֕בּוּ דֶּ֖רֶךְ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים וְ/לֹא הָיָ֨ה מַ֧יִם לַֽ/מַּחֲנֶ֛ה וְ/לַ/בְּהֵמָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּ/רַגְלֵי/הֶֽם
And the king of Israel said, Alas, that the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliuer them into the hand of Moab.
GenevaTherefore the King of Israel sayde, Alas, that the Lord hath called these three Kings, to giue them into the hand of Moab.
וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲהָ֕הּ כִּֽי קָרָ֣א יְהוָ֗ה לִ/שְׁלֹ֨שֶׁת֙ הַ/מְּלָכִ֣ים הָ/אֵ֔לֶּה לָ/תֵ֥ת אוֹתָ֖/ם בְּ/יַד מוֹאָֽב
But Iehoshaphat said, Is there not here a Prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israels seruants answered, and said, Here is Elisha the sonne of Shaphat, which powred water on the hands of Eliiah.

וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוֹשָׁפָ֗ט הַ/אֵ֨ין פֹּ֤ה נָבִיא֙ לַֽ/יהוָ֔ה וְ/נִדְרְשָׁ֥ה אֶת יְהוָ֖ה מֵ/אוֹת֑/וֹ וַ֠/יַּעַן אֶחָ֞ד מֵ/עַבְדֵ֤י מֶֽלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַ/יֹּ֔אמֶר פֹּ֚ה אֱלִישָׁ֣ע בֶּן שָׁפָ֔ט אֲשֶׁר יָ֥צַק מַ֖יִם עַל יְדֵ֥י אֵלִיָּֽהוּ
And Iehoshaphat saide, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Israel, & Iehoshaphat, and the king of Edom went downe to him.
GenevaThen Iehoshaphat saide, The worde of the Lord is with him. Therefore the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat, and the King of Edom went downe to him.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ יְה֣וֹשָׁפָ֔ט יֵ֥שׁ אוֹת֖/וֹ דְּבַר יְהוָ֑ה וַ/יֵּרְד֣וּ אֵלָ֗י/ו מֶ֧לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל וִ/יהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט וּ/מֶ֥לֶךְ אֱדֽוֹם
And Elisha saide vnto the king of Israel, What haue I to doe with thee? Get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said vnto him, Nay: for the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliuer them into the hand of Moab.

וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֜ע אֶל מֶ֤לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מַה לִּ֣/י וָ/לָ֔/ךְ לֵ֚ךְ אֶל נְבִיאֵ֣י אָבִ֔י/ךָ וְ/אֶל נְבִיאֵ֖י אִמֶּ֑/ךָ וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר ל/וֹ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אַ֗ל כִּֽי קָרָ֤א יְהוָה֙ לִ/שְׁלֹ֨שֶׁת֙ הַ/מְּלָכִ֣ים הָ/אֵ֔לֶּה לָ/תֵ֥ת אוֹתָ֖/ם בְּ/יַד מוֹאָֽב
And Elisha said, As the LORD of hostes liueth, before whom I stand, Surely were it not that I regard the presence of Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah, I would not looke toward thee, nor see thee.
GenevaThen Elisha said, As the Lord of hostes liueth, in whose sight I stande, if it were not, that I regarde the presence of Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah, I woulde not haue looked towarde thee, nor seene thee.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֗ע חַי יְהוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָמַ֣דְתִּי לְ/פָנָ֔י/ו כִּ֗י לוּלֵ֛י פְּנֵ֛י יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט מֶֽלֶךְ יְהוּדָ֖ה אֲנִ֣י נֹשֵׂ֑א אִם אַבִּ֥יט אֵלֶ֖י/ךָ וְ/אִם אֶרְאֶֽ/ךָּ
But now bring me a minstrell. And it came to passe when the minstrell played, that the hand of the LORD came vpon him.
GenevaBut nowe bring me a minstrel. And when the minstrel played, the hand of the Lord came vpon him.
וְ/עַתָּ֖ה קְחוּ לִ֣/י מְנַגֵּ֑ן וְ/הָיָה֙ כְּ/נַגֵּ֣ן הַֽ/מְנַגֵּ֔ן וַ/תְּהִ֥י עָלָ֖י/ו יַד יְהוָֽה
And hee sayde, Thus sayth the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.
GenevaAnd he saide, Thus saith the Lord, Make this valley full of ditches.
וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה עָשֹׂ֛ה הַ/נַּ֥חַל הַ/זֶּ֖ה גֵּבִ֥ים גֵּבִֽים
For thus sayth the LORD, Yee shall not see winde, neither shall ye see raine, yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drinke, both ye, and your cattell, and your beasts.
GenevaFor thus saith the Lord, Ye shall neither see winde nor see raine, yet the valley shalbe filled with water, that ye may drinke, both ye and your cattel, and your beastes.
כִּֽי כֹ֣ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה לֹֽא תִרְא֥וּ ר֨וּחַ֙ וְ/לֹֽא תִרְא֣וּ גֶ֔שֶׁם וְ/הַ/נַּ֥חַל הַ/ה֖וּא יִמָּ֣לֵא מָ֑יִם וּ/שְׁתִיתֶ֛ם אַתֶּ֥ם וּ/מִקְנֵי/כֶ֖ם וּֽ/בְהֶמְתְּ/כֶֽם
And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD, he will deliuer the Moabites also into your hand.
GenevaBut this is a small thing in the sight of the Lord: for he will giue Moab into your hande.
וְ/נָקַ֥ל זֹ֖את בְּ/עֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְ/נָתַ֥ן אֶת מוֹאָ֖ב בְּ/יֶדְ/כֶֽם
And ye shall smite euery fenced citie, and euery choice citie, and shall fell euery good tree, and stop all welles of water, and marre euery good piece of land with stones.
GenevaAnd ye shall smite euery strong towne and euery chiefe citie, and shall fell euery faire tree, and shall stoppe all the fountaines of water, and marre euery good fielde with stones.
וְ/הִכִּיתֶ֞ם כָּל עִ֤יר מִבְצָר֙ וְ/כָל עִ֣יר מִבְח֔וֹר וְ/כָל עֵ֥ץ טוֹב֙ תַּפִּ֔ילוּ וְ/כָל מַעְיְנֵי מַ֖יִם תִּסְתֹּ֑מוּ וְ/כֹל֙ הַ/חֶלְקָ֣ה הַ/טּוֹבָ֔ה תַּכְאִ֖בוּ בָּ/אֲבָנִֽים
And it came to passe in the morning when the meate offering was offered, that behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the countrey was filled with water.
GenevaAnd in the morning whe the meat offring was offred, beholde, there came water by the way of Edom: and the countrey was filled with water.
וַ/יְהִ֤י בַ/בֹּ֨קֶר֙ כַּ/עֲל֣וֹת הַ/מִּנְחָ֔ה וְ/הִנֵּה מַ֥יִם בָּאִ֖ים מִ/דֶּ֣רֶךְ אֱד֑וֹם וַ/תִּמָּלֵ֥א הָ/אָ֖רֶץ אֶת הַ/מָּֽיִם
¶ And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come vp to fight against them, they gathered all that were able to put on armour, and vpward, and stood in the border.

וְ/כָל מוֹאָב֙ שָֽׁמְע֔וּ כִּֽי עָל֥וּ הַ/מְּלָכִ֖ים לְ/הִלָּ֣חֶם בָּ֑/ם וַ/יִּצָּעֲק֗וּ מִ/כֹּ֨ל חֹגֵ֤ר חֲגֹרָה֙ וָ/מַ֔עְלָ/ה וַ/יַּעַמְד֖וּ עַֽל הַ/גְּבֽוּל
And they rose vp early in the morning, and the Sunne shone vpon the water, and the Moabites sawe the water on the other side as red as blood.
GenevaAnd they rose earely in the morning, when the sunne arose vpon the water, and the Moabites saw the water ouer against them, as red as blood.
וַ/יַּשְׁכִּ֣ימוּ בַ/בֹּ֔קֶר וְ/הַ/שֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ זָרְחָ֣ה עַל הַ/מָּ֑יִם וַ/יִּרְא֨וּ מוֹאָ֥ב מִ/נֶּ֛גֶד אֶת הַ/מַּ֖יִם אֲדֻמִּ֥ים כַּ/דָּֽם
And they said, This is blood: the kings are surely slaine, and they haue smitten one another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoile.

וַ/יֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ דָּ֣ם זֶ֔ה הָחֳרֵ֤ב נֶֽחֶרְבוּ֙ הַ/מְּלָכִ֔ים וַ/יַּכּ֖וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶת רֵעֵ֑/הוּ וְ/עַתָּ֥ה לַ/שָּׁלָ֖ל מוֹאָֽב
And when they came to the campe of Israel, the Israelites rose vp and smote the Moabites, so that they fledde before them: but they went forward smiting the Moabites, euen in their countrey.
GenevaAnd when they came to the host of Israel, the Israelites arose vp, and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them, but they inuaded them, and smote Moab.
וַ/יָּבֹאוּ֮ אֶל מַחֲנֵ֣ה יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וַ/יָּקֻ֤מוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַ/יַּכּ֣וּ אֶת מוֹאָ֔ב וַ/יָּנֻ֖סוּ מִ/פְּנֵי/הֶ֑ם ו/יבו בָ֔/הּ וְ/הַכּ֖וֹת אֶת מוֹאָֽב
And they beat downe the cities, and on euery good piece of land cast euery man his stone, and filled it, and they stopped all the welles of water, and felled all the good trees: onely in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof: howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it.

וְ/הֶ/עָרִ֣ים יַהֲרֹ֡סוּ וְ/כָל חֶלְקָ֣ה ט֠וֹבָה יַשְׁלִ֨יכוּ אִישׁ אַבְנ֜/וֹ וּ/מִלְא֗וּ/הָ וְ/כָל מַעְיַן מַ֤יִם יִסְתֹּ֨מוּ֙ וְ/כָל עֵֽץ ט֣וֹב יַפִּ֔ילוּ עַד הִשְׁאִ֧יר אֲבָנֶ֛י/הָ בַּ/קִּ֖יר חֲרָ֑שֶׂת וַ/יָּסֹ֥בּוּ הַ/קַּלָּעִ֖ים וַ/יַּכּֽוּ/הָ
¶ And when the king of Moab sawe that the battell was too sore for him, he tooke with him seuen hundred men that drewe swordes, to breake thorow euen vnto the king of Edom: but they could not.

וַ/יַּרְא֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֔ב כִּֽי חָזַ֥ק מִמֶּ֖/נּוּ הַ/מִּלְחָמָ֑ה וַ/יִּקַּ֣ח א֠וֹת/וֹ שְׁבַע מֵא֨וֹת אִ֜ישׁ שֹׁ֣לֵֽף חֶ֗רֶב לְ/הַבְקִ֛יעַ אֶל מֶ֥לֶךְ אֱד֖וֹם וְ/לֹ֥א יָכֹֽלוּ
Then hee tooke his eldest sonne that should haue reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering vpon the wall: and there was great indignation against Israel, and they departed from him, and returned to their owne land.

וַ/יִּקַּח֩ אֶת בְּנ֨/וֹ הַ/בְּכ֜וֹר אֲשֶׁר יִמְלֹ֣ךְ תַּחְתָּ֗י/ו וַ/יַּעֲלֵ֤/הוּ עֹלָה֙ עַל הַ֣/חֹמָ֔ה וַ/יְהִ֥י קֶצֶף גָּד֖וֹל עַל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַ/יִּסְעוּ֙ מֵֽ/עָלָ֔י/ו וַ/יָּשֻׁ֖בוּ לָ/אָֽרֶץ
