2 Kings 2
And it came to passe when the LORD would take vp Elijah into heauen by a whirlewinde, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

וַ/יְהִ֗י בְּ/הַעֲל֤וֹת יְהוָה֙ אֶת אֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ בַּֽ/סְעָרָ֖ה הַ/שָּׁמָ֑יִם וַ/יֵּ֧לֶךְ אֵלִיָּ֛הוּ וֶ/אֱלִישָׁ֖ע מִן הַ/גִּלְגָּֽל
And Elijah said vnto Elisha, Tarie here, I pray thee: for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel: and Elisha said vnto him, As the LORD liueth, and as thy soule liueth, I wil not leaue thee. So they went downe to Bethel.

וַ/יֹּאמֶר֩ אֵלִיָּ֨הוּ אֶל אֱלִישָׁ֜ע שֵֽׁב נָ֣א פֹ֗ה כִּ֤י יְהוָה֙ שְׁלָחַ֣/נִי עַד בֵּֽית אֵ֔ל וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֔ע חַי יְהוָ֥ה וְ/חֵֽי נַפְשְׁ/ךָ֖ אִם אֶעֶזְבֶ֑/ךָּ וַ/יֵּרְד֖וּ בֵּֽית אֵֽל
And the sonnes of the Prophets that were at Bethel, came foorth to Elisha, and said vnto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it, hold you your peace.
GenevaAnd the children of the Prophets that were at Beth-el, came out to Elisha, and said vnto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take thy master from thine head this day? And he said, Yea, I knowe it: holde ye your peace.
וַ/יֵּצְא֨וּ בְנֵֽי הַ/נְּבִיאִ֥ים אֲשֶׁר בֵּֽית אֵל֮ אֶל אֱלִישָׁע֒ וַ/יֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֔י/ו הֲ/יָדַ֕עְתָּ כִּ֣י הַ/יּ֗וֹם יְהוָ֛ה לֹקֵ֥חַ אֶת אֲדֹנֶ֖י/ךָ מֵ/עַ֣ל רֹאשֶׁ֑/ךָ וַ/יֹּ֛אמֶר גַּם אֲנִ֥י יָדַ֖עְתִּי הֶחֱשֽׁוּ
And Elijah said vnto him, Elisha, tarie here, I pray thee: for the LORD hath sent me to Iericho: And hee said, As the LORD liueth, and as thy soule liueth, I will not leaue thee. So they came to Iericho.

וַ/יִּגְּשׁ֨וּ בְנֵֽי הַ/נְּבִיאִ֥ים אֲשֶׁר בִּֽ/ירִיחוֹ֮ אֶל אֱלִישָׁע֒ וַ/יֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֔י/ו הֲ/יָדַ֕עְתָּ כִּ֣י הַ/יּ֗וֹם יְהוָ֛ה לֹקֵ֥חַ אֶת אֲדֹנֶ֖י/ךָ מֵ/עַ֣ל רֹאשֶׁ֑/ךָ וַ/יֹּ֛אמֶר גַּם אֲנִ֥י יָדַ֖עְתִּי הֶחֱשֽׁוּ
And Elijah said vnto him, Tarie, I pray thee, here: for the LORD hath sent me to Iordan. And he said, As the LORD liueth, and as thy soule liueth, I will not leaue thee. And they two went on.

וַ/יֹּאמֶר֩ ל֨/וֹ אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ שֵֽׁב נָ֣א פֹ֗ה כִּ֤י יְהוָה֙ שְׁלָחַ֣/נִי הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֔נָ/ה וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר חַי יְהוָ֥ה וְ/חֵֽי נַפְשְׁ/ךָ֖ אִם אֶעֶזְבֶ֑/ךָּ וַ/יֵּלְכ֖וּ שְׁנֵי/הֶֽם
And fiftie men of the sonnes of the Prophets went, and stood to view afarre off: and they two stood by Iordan.

וַ/חֲמִשִּׁ֨ים אִ֜ישׁ מִ/בְּנֵ֤י הַ/נְּבִיאִים֙ הָֽלְכ֔וּ וַ/יַּעַמְד֥וּ מִ/נֶּ֖גֶד מֵ/רָח֑וֹק וּ/שְׁנֵי/הֶ֖ם עָמְד֥וּ עַל הַ/יַּרְדֵּֽן
And Elijah tooke his mantle, and wrapt it together, and smote the waters, and they were diuided hither and thither, so that they two went ouer on drie ground.

וַ/יִּקַּח֩ אֵלִיָּ֨הוּ אֶת אַדַּרְתּ֤/וֹ וַ/יִּגְלֹם֙ וַ/יַּכֶּ֣ה אֶת הַ/מַּ֔יִם וַ/יֵּחָצ֖וּ הֵ֣נָּה וָ/הֵ֑נָּה וַ/יַּעַבְר֥וּ שְׁנֵי/הֶ֖ם בֶּ/חָרָבָֽה
¶ And it came to passe when they were gone ouer, that Elijah said vnto Elisha, Aske what I shall doe for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be vpon me.

וַ/יְהִ֣י כְ/עָבְרָ֗/ם וְ/אֵ֨לִיָּ֜הוּ אָמַ֤ר אֶל אֱלִישָׁע֙ שְׁאַל֙ מָ֣ה אֶֽעֱשֶׂה לָּ֔/ךְ בְּ/טֶ֖רֶם אֶלָּקַ֣ח מֵ/עִמָּ֑/ךְ וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֔ע וִֽ/יהִי נָ֛א פִּֽי שְׁנַ֥יִם בְּ/רוּחֲ/ךָ֖ אֵלָֽ/י
And hee said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: neuerthelesse, if thou see me, when I am taken from thee, it shall be so vnto thee: but if not, it shall not be so.
GenevaAnd he saide, Thou hast asked an hard thing: yet if thou see me when I am taken from thee, thou shalt haue it so: and if not, it shall not be.
וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר הִקְשִׁ֣יתָ לִ/שְׁא֑וֹל אִם תִּרְאֶ֨ה אֹתִ֜/י לֻקָּ֤ח מֵֽ/אִתָּ/ךְ֙ יְהִֽי לְ/ךָ֣ כֵ֔ן וְ/אִם אַ֖יִן לֹ֥א יִהְיֶֽה
And it came to passe as they still went on and talked, that beholde, there appeared a charet of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder, and Elijah went vp by a whirlewind into heauen.
GenevaAnd as they went walking and talking, beholde, there appeared a charet of fire, and horses of fire, and did separate them twaine. So Eliiah went vp by a whirle winde into heauen.
וַ/יְהִ֗י הֵ֣מָּה הֹלְכִ֤ים הָלוֹךְ֙ וְ/דַבֵּ֔ר וְ/הִנֵּ֤ה רֶֽכֶב אֵשׁ֙ וְ/ס֣וּסֵי אֵ֔שׁ וַ/יַּפְרִ֖דוּ בֵּ֣ין שְׁנֵי/הֶ֑ם וַ/יַּ֨עַל֙ אֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ בַּֽ/סְעָרָ֖ה הַ/שָּׁמָֽיִם
¶ And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the charet of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he tooke hold of his owne cloathes, and rent them in two pieces.

וֶ/אֱלִישָׁ֣ע רֹאֶ֗ה וְ/ה֤וּא מְצַעֵק֙ אָבִ֣/י אָבִ֗/י רֶ֤כֶב יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וּ/פָ֣רָשָׁ֔י/ו וְ/לֹ֥א רָאָ֖/הוּ ע֑וֹד וַֽ/יַּחֲזֵק֙ בִּ/בְגָדָ֔י/ו וַ/יִּקְרָעֵ֖/ם לִ/שְׁנַ֥יִם קְרָעִֽים
He tooke vp also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the banke of Iordan.

וַ/יָּ֨רֶם֙ אֶת אַדֶּ֣רֶת אֵלִיָּ֔הוּ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָפְלָ֖ה מֵ/עָלָ֑י/ו וַ/יָּ֥שָׁב וַֽ/יַּעֲמֹ֖ד עַל שְׂפַ֥ת הַ/יַּרְדֵּֽן
And he tooke the mantle of Eliiah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? And when hee also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went ouer.
GenevaAfter, he tooke the cloke of Eliiah, that fell from him, and smote the waters, and sayde, Where is the Lord God of Eliiah? And so he also, after he had striken the waters, so that they were deuided this way and that way, went ouer, euen Elisha.
וַ/יִּקַּח֩ אֶת אַדֶּ֨רֶת אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ אֲשֶׁר נָפְלָ֤ה מֵֽ/עָלָי/ו֙ וַ/יַּכֶּ֣ה אֶת הַ/מַּ֔יִם וַ/יֹּאמַ֕ר אַיֵּ֕ה יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֵלִיָּ֑הוּ אַף ה֣וּא וַ/יַּכֶּ֣ה אֶת הַ/מַּ֗יִם וַ/יֵּֽחָצוּ֙ הֵ֣נָּה וָ/הֵ֔נָּה וַֽ/יַּעֲבֹ֖ר אֱלִישָֽׁע
And when the sonnes of the Prophets which were to view at Iericho, saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha: And they came to meet him, and bowed themselues to the ground before him.
GenevaAnd when the children of the Prophets, which were at Iericho, saw him on the other side, they sayde, The Spirite of Eliiah doeth rest on Elisha: and they came to meete him, and fell to the grounde before him,
וַ/יִּרְאֻ֨/הוּ בְנֵֽי הַ/נְּבִיאִ֤ים אֲשֶׁר בִּֽ/ירִיחוֹ֙ מִ/נֶּ֔גֶד וַ/יֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ נָ֛חָה ר֥וּחַ אֵלִיָּ֖הוּ עַל אֱלִישָׁ֑ע וַ/יָּבֹ֨אוּ֙ לִ/קְרָאת֔/וֹ וַ/יִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ ל֖/וֹ אָֽרְצָ/ה
¶ And they said vnto him, Behold now, there bee with thy seruants fiftie strong men, let them goe, we pray thee, and seeke thy master: lest peraduenture the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him vp, and cast him vpon some mountaine, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
GenevaAnd said vnto him, Beholde nowe, there be with thy seruants fiftie strong men: let them go, we pray thee, and seeke thy master, if so be the Spirite of the Lord hath taken him vp, and cast him vpon some mountaine, or into some valley. But he said, Ye shall not sende.
וַ/יֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֡י/ו הִנֵּה נָ֣א יֵֽשׁ אֶת עֲבָדֶי/ךָ֩ חֲמִשִּׁ֨ים אֲנָשִׁ֜ים בְּנֵֽי חַ֗יִל יֵ֣לְכוּ נָא֮ וִ/יבַקְשׁ֣וּ אֶת אֲדֹנֶי/ךָ֒ פֶּן נְשָׂא/וֹ֙ ר֣וּחַ יְהוָ֔ה וַ/יַּשְׁלִכֵ֨/הוּ֙ בְּ/אַחַ֣ד הֶ/הָרִ֔ים א֖וֹ בְּ/אַחַ֣ת ה/גיאות וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר לֹ֥א תִשְׁלָֽחוּ
And when they vrged him, till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fiftie men, and they sought three dayes, but found him not.
GenevaYet they were instant vpon him, til he was ashamed: wherefore he saide, Sende. So they sent fiftie men, which sought three dayes, but founde him not.
וַ/יִּפְצְרוּ ב֥/וֹ עַד בֹּ֖שׁ וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁלָ֑חוּ וַֽ/יִּשְׁלְחוּ֙ חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים אִ֔ישׁ וַ/יְבַקְשׁ֥וּ שְׁלֹשָֽׁה יָמִ֖ים וְ/לֹ֥א מְצָאֻֽ/הוּ
And when they came againe to him (for he taried at Iericho) hee said vnto them, Did I not say vnto you, Goe not?
GenevaTherefore they returned to him, (for he taryed at Iericho) and he said vnto them, Did not I say vnto you, Goe not?
וַ/יָּשֻׁ֣בוּ אֵלָ֔י/ו וְ/ה֖וּא יֹשֵׁ֣ב בִּ/ירִיח֑וֹ וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵ/הֶ֔ם הֲ/לֽוֹא אָמַ֥רְתִּי אֲלֵי/כֶ֖ם אַל תֵּלֵֽכוּ
¶ And the men of the city said vnto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is nought, and the ground barren.
GenevaAnd the men of the citie saide vnto Elisha, Beholde, we pray thee: the situation of this citie is pleasant, as thou, my lorde, seest, but the water is naught, and the ground baren.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ אַנְשֵׁ֤י הָ/עִיר֙ אֶל אֱלִישָׁ֔ע הִנֵּה נָ֞א מוֹשַׁ֤ב הָ/עִיר֙ ט֔וֹב כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲדֹנִ֖/י רֹאֶ֑ה וְ/הַ/מַּ֥יִם רָעִ֖ים וְ/הָ/אָ֥רֶץ מְשַׁכָּֽלֶת
And hee said, Bring mee a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
GenevaThen he saide, Bring me a newe cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
וַ/יֹּ֗אמֶר קְחוּ לִ/י֙ צְלֹחִ֣ית חֲדָשָׁ֔ה וְ/שִׂ֥ימוּ שָׁ֖ם מֶ֑לַח וַ/יִּקְח֖וּ אֵלָֽי/ו
And he went forth vnto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I haue healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death, or barren land.
GenevaAnd he went vnto the spring of the waters, and cast there the salt, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I haue healed this water: death shall no more come thereof, neither barennesse to the ground.
וַ/יֵּצֵא֙ אֶל מוֹצָ֣א הַ/מַּ֔יִם וַ/יַּשְׁלֶךְ שָׁ֖ם מֶ֑לַח וַ/יֹּ֜אמֶר כֹּֽה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה רִפִּ֨אתִי֙ לַ/מַּ֣יִם הָ/אֵ֔לֶּה לֹֽא יִהְיֶ֥ה מִ/שָּׁ֛ם ע֖וֹד מָ֥וֶת וּ/מְשַׁכָּֽלֶת
So the waters were healed vnto this day, according to the saying of Elisha, which he spake.
GenevaSo the waters were healed vntill this day, according to the worde of Elisha which hee had spoken.
וַ/יֵּרָפ֣וּ הַ/מַּ֔יִם עַ֖ד הַ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/זֶּ֑ה כִּ/דְבַ֥ר אֱלִישָׁ֖ע אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֵּֽר
¶ And he went vp from thence vnto Bethel: and as hee was going vp by the way, there came foorth little children out of the citie, and mocked him, and said vnto him, Goe vp thou bald head, Goe vp thou bald head.
GenevaAnd he went vp from thence vnto Beth-el. And as he was going vp the way, litle children came out of the citie, and mocked him, and saide vnto him, Come vp, thou balde head, come vp, thou balde head.
וַ/יַּ֥עַל מִ/שָּׁ֖ם בֵּֽית אֵ֑ל וְ/ה֣וּא עֹלֶ֣ה בַ/דֶּ֗רֶךְ וּ/נְעָרִ֤ים קְטַנִּים֙ יָצְא֣וּ מִן הָ/עִ֔יר וַ/יִּתְקַלְּסוּ ב/וֹ֙ וַ/יֹּ֣אמְרוּ ל֔/וֹ עֲלֵ֥ה קֵרֵ֖חַ עֲלֵ֥ה קֵרֵֽחַ
And hee turned backe, and looked on them, and cursed them in the Name of the LORD: and there came foorth two shee Beares out of the wood, and tare fortie and two children of them.
GenevaAnd he turned backe, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And two beares came out of the forest, and tare in pieces two and fourtie children of them.
וַ/יִּ֤פֶן אַֽחֲרָי/ו֙ וַ/יִּרְאֵ֔/ם וַֽ/יְקַלְלֵ֖/ם בְּ/שֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֑ה וַ/תֵּצֶ֨אנָה שְׁתַּ֤יִם דֻּבִּים֙ מִן הַ/יַּ֔עַר וַ/תְּבַקַּ֣עְנָה מֵ/הֶ֔ם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּ/שְׁנֵ֖י יְלָדִֽים
And hee went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
