1 Kings 13
And behold, there came a man of God out of Iudah by the word of the LORD vnto Bethel: and Ieroboam stood by the altar to burne incense.
GenevaAnd beholde, there came a man of God out of Iudah (by the commandement of the Lord) vnto Beth-el, and Ieroboam stoode by the altar to offer incense.
וְ/הִנֵּ֣ה אִ֣ישׁ אֱלֹהִ֗ים בָּ֧א מִ/יהוּדָ֛ה בִּ/דְבַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל בֵּֽית אֵ֑ל וְ/יָרָבְעָ֛ם עֹמֵ֥ד עַל הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֖חַ לְ/הַקְטִֽיר
And hee cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD, Behold, a child shalbe borne vnto the house of Dauid, Iosiah by name, and vpon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burne incense vpon thee, and mens bones shall bee burnt vpon thee.
GenevaAnd he cryed against the altar by the comandement of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord, Beholde, a child shalbe borne vnto the house of Dauid, Iosiah by name, and vpon thee shall he sacrifice the Priestes of the hie places that burne incense vpon thee, and they shall burne mens bones vpon thee.
וַ/יִּקְרָ֤א עַל הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֨חַ֙ בִּ/דְבַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ מִזְבֵּ֣חַ מִזְבֵּ֔חַ כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה הִנֵּֽה בֵ֞ן נוֹלָ֤ד לְ/בֵית דָּוִד֙ יֹאשִׁיָּ֣הוּ שְׁמ֔/וֹ וְ/זָבַ֣ח עָלֶ֗י/ךָ אֶת כֹּהֲנֵ֤י הַ/בָּמוֹת֙ הַ/מַּקְטִרִ֣ים עָלֶ֔י/ךָ וְ/עַצְמ֥וֹת אָדָ֖ם יִשְׂרְפ֥וּ עָלֶֽי/ךָ
And he gaue a signe the same day, saying, This is the signe which the LORD hath spoken: Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are vpon it, shalbe powred out.
GenevaAnd he gaue a signe the same time, saying, This is the signe, that the Lord hath spoken, Behold, the altar shall rent, and the ashes that are vpon it, shall fall out.
וְ/נָתַן֩ בַּ/יּ֨וֹם הַ/ה֤וּא מוֹפֵת֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר זֶ֣ה הַ/מּוֹפֵ֔ת אֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה הִנֵּ֤ה הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֨חַ֙ נִקְרָ֔ע וְ/נִשְׁפַּ֖ךְ הַ/דֶּ֥שֶׁן אֲשֶׁר עָלָֽי/ו
And it came to passe when king Ieroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him: And his hand which hee put foorth against him, dried vp, so that hee could not pull it in againe to him.
GenevaAnd when the King had heard the saying of the man of God, which he had cryed against the altar in Beth-el, Ieroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, Lay holde on him: but his hande which he put foorth against him, dryed vp, and he could not pull it in againe to him.
וַ/יְהִי֩ כִ/שְׁמֹ֨עַ הַ/מֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶת דְּבַ֣ר אִישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר קָרָ֤א עַל הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֨חַ֙ בְּ/בֵֽית אֵ֔ל וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֨ח יָרָבְעָ֧ם אֶת יָד֛/וֹ מֵ/עַ֥ל הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֖חַ לֵ/אמֹ֣ר תִּפְשֻׂ֑/הוּ וַ/תִּיבַ֤שׁ יָד/וֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁלַ֣ח עָלָ֔י/ו וְ/לֹ֥א יָכֹ֖ל לַ/הֲשִׁיבָ֥/הּ אֵלָֽי/ו
The altar also was rent, and the ashes powred out from the altar, according to the signe which the man of God had giuen by the word of the LORD.
GenevaThe altar also claue asunder, and the ashes fell out from the altar, according to the signe, which the man of God had giuen by the commandement of the Lord.
וְ/הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֣חַ נִקְרָ֔ע וַ/יִּשָּׁפֵ֥ךְ הַ/דֶּ֖שֶׁן מִן הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֑חַ כַּ/מּוֹפֵ֗ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֛ן אִ֥ישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים בִּ/דְבַ֥ר יְהוָֽה
And the king answered, and said vnto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for mee, that my hand may be restored mee againe. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the kings hand was restored againe, and became as it was before.
GenevaThen the King answered, and saide vnto the man of God, I beseeche thee, pray vnto ye Lord thy God, and make intercession for me, that mine hand may bee restored vnto me. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the Kings hand was restored, and became as it was afore.
וַ/יַּ֨עַן הַ/מֶּ֜לֶךְ וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל אִ֣ישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֗ים חַל נָ֞א אֶת פְּנֵ֨י יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֨י/ךָ֙ וְ/הִתְפַּלֵּ֣ל בַּעֲדִ֔/י וְ/תָשֹׁ֥ב יָדִ֖/י אֵלָ֑/י וַ/יְחַ֤ל אִישׁ הָֽ/אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת פְּנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וַ/תָּ֤שָׁב יַד הַ/מֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ אֵלָ֔י/ו וַ/תְּהִ֖י כְּ/בָ/רִֽאשֹׁנָֽה
And the king said vnto the man of God, Come home with mee, and refresh thy selfe, and I wil giue thee a reward.
GenevaThen the King sayde vnto the man of God, Come home with mee, that thou mayest dyne, and I will giue thee a reward.
וַ/יְדַבֵּ֤ר הַ/מֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ אֶל אִ֣ישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֔ים בֹּאָ/ה אִתִּ֥/י הַ/בַּ֖יְתָ/ה וּֽ/סְעָ֑דָ/ה וְ/אֶתְּנָ֥ה לְ/ךָ֖ מַתָּֽת
And the man of God said vnto the king, If thou wilt giue mee halfe thine house, I will not goe in with thee, neither will I eat bread, nor drinke water in this place:
GenevaBut the man of God saide vnto the King, If thou wouldest giue me halfe thine house, I would not goe in with thee, neither woulde I eate bread nor drinke water in this place.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר אִישׁ הָֽ/אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶל הַ/מֶּ֔לֶךְ אִם תִּתֶּן לִ/י֙ אֶת חֲצִ֣י בֵיתֶ֔/ךָ לֹ֥א אָבֹ֖א עִמָּ֑/ךְ וְ/לֹֽא אֹ֤כַל לֶ֨חֶם֙ וְ/לֹ֣א אֶשְׁתֶּה מַּ֔יִם בַּ/מָּק֖וֹם הַ/זֶּֽה
For so was it charged mee by the word of the LORD, saying, Eate no bread, nor drinke water, nor turne again by the same way that thou camest.
GenevaFor so was it charged mee by the worde of the Lord, saying, Eate no bread nor drinke water, nor turne againe by the same way that thou camest.
כִּֽי כֵ֣ן צִוָּ֣ה אֹתִ֗/י בִּ/דְבַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר לֹא תֹ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם וְ/לֹ֣א תִשְׁתֶּה מָּ֑יִם וְ/לֹ֣א תָשׁ֔וּב בַּ/דֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽכְתָּ
So he went another way, and returned not by the way that hee came to Bethel.
GenevaSo he went another way and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.
וַ/יֵּ֖לֶךְ בְּ/דֶ֣רֶךְ אַחֵ֑ר וְ/לֹֽא שָׁ֣ב בַּ/דֶּ֔רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֛ר בָּ֥א בָ֖/הּ אֶל בֵּֽית אֵֽל
¶ Now there dwelt an old Prophet in Bethel, and his sonne came and told him all the workes that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which hee had spoken vnto the king, them they tolde also to their father.
GenevaAnd an olde Prophet dwelt in Beth-el, and his sonnes came and tolde him all ye woorkes, that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el, and the wordes which he had spoken vnto the King, tolde they their father.
וְ/נָבִ֤יא אֶחָד֙ זָקֵ֔ן יֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּ/בֵֽית אֵ֑ל וַ/יָּב֣וֹא בְנ֡/וֹ וַ/יְסַפֶּר ל֣/וֹ אֶת כָּל הַ/מַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה֩ אִישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֨ים הַ/יּ֜וֹם בְּ/בֵֽית אֵ֗ל אֶת הַ/דְּבָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֣ר אֶל הַ/מֶּ֔לֶךְ וַֽ/יְסַפְּר֖וּ/ם לַ/אֲבִי/הֶֽם
And their father said vnto them, What way went he? for his sonnes had seene what way the man of God went, which came from Iudah.
GenevaAnd their father sayde vnto them, What way went he? and his sonnes shewed him what waye the man of God went, which came from Iudah.
וַ/יְדַבֵּ֤ר אֲלֵ/הֶם֙ אֲבִי/הֶ֔ם אֵֽי זֶ֥ה הַ/דֶּ֖רֶךְ הָלָ֑ךְ וַ/יִּרְא֣וּ בָנָ֗י/ו אֶת הַ/דֶּ֨רֶךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר הָלַךְ֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר בָּ֖א מִ/יהוּדָֽה
And hee saide vnto his sonnes, Saddle me the asse. So they sadled him the asse, and he rode thereon,

וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל בָּנָ֔י/ו חִבְשׁוּ לִ֖/י הַ/חֲמ֑וֹר וַ/יַּחְבְּשׁוּ ל֣/וֹ הַ/חֲמ֔וֹר וַ/יִּרְכַּ֖ב עָלָֽי/ו
And went after the man of God, and found him sitting vnder an oke; and he said vnto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Iudah? And he said, I am.
GenevaAnd went after the man of God, and found him sitting vnder an oke: and he saide vnto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Iudah? And he sayd, Yea.
וַ/יֵּ֗לֶךְ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֔ים וַ/יִּ֨מְצָאֵ֔/הוּ יֹשֵׁ֖ב תַּ֣חַת הָ/אֵלָ֑ה וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗י/ו הַ/אַתָּ֧ה אִישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֛ים אֲשֶׁר בָּ֥אתָ מִֽ/יהוּדָ֖ה וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר אָֽנִי
Then hee said vnto him, Come home with me, and eate bread.
GenevaThen he said vnto him, Come home with me, and eate bread.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔י/ו לֵ֥ךְ אִתִּ֖/י הַ/בָּ֑יְתָ/ה וֶ/אֱכֹ֖ל לָֽחֶם
And he said, I may not returne with thee, nor goe in with thee: neither will I eat bread, nor drinke water with thee in this place.
GenevaBut he answered, I may not returne with thee, nor go in with thee, neither wil I eate bread nor drinke water with thee in this place.
וַ/יֹּ֗אמֶר לֹ֥א אוּכַ֛ל לָ/שׁ֥וּב אִתָּ֖/ךְ וְ/לָ/ב֣וֹא אִתָּ֑/ךְ וְ/לֹֽא אֹ֣כַל לֶ֗חֶם וְ/לֹֽא אֶשְׁתֶּ֤ה אִתְּ/ךָ֙ מַ֔יִם בַּ/מָּק֖וֹם הַ/זֶּֽה
For it was said to mee by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eate no bread, nor drinke water there, nor turne againe to go by the way that thou camest.
GenevaFor it was charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Thou shalt eate no bread, nor drinke water there, nor turne againe to goe by the way that thou wentest.
כִּֽי דָבָ֤ר אֵלַ/י֙ בִּ/דְבַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה לֹֽא תֹאכַ֣ל לֶ֔חֶם וְ/לֹֽא תִשְׁתֶּ֥ה שָׁ֖ם מָ֑יִם לֹא תָשׁ֣וּב לָ/לֶ֔כֶת בַּ/דֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁר הָלַ֥כְתָּ בָּֽ/הּ
He said vnto him, I am a prophet also as thou art, and an angel spake vnto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him backe with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread, and drinke water: But he lied vnto him.
GenevaAnd he said vnto him, I am a Prophet also as thou art, and an Angel spake vnto me by the worde of the Lord, saying, Bring him againe with thee into thine house, that hee may eate bread and drinke water: but he lyed vnto him.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗/וֹ גַּם אֲנִ֣י נָבִיא֮ כָּמוֹ/ךָ֒ וּ/מַלְאָ֡ךְ דִּבֶּ֣ר אֵלַ/י֩ בִּ/דְבַ֨ר יְהוָ֜ה לֵ/אמֹ֗ר הֲשִׁבֵ֤/הוּ אִתְּ/ךָ֙ אֶל בֵּיתֶ֔/ךָ וְ/יֹ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם וְ/יֵ֣שְׁתְּ מָ֑יִם כִּחֵ֖שׁ לֽ/וֹ
So he went backe with him, and did eate bread in his house, and dranke water.
GenevaSo he went againe with him, and did eate bread in his house, and dranke water.
וַ/יָּ֣שָׁב אִתּ֗/וֹ וַ/יֹּ֥אכַל לֶ֛חֶם בְּ/בֵית֖/וֹ וַ/יֵּ֥שְׁתְּ מָֽיִם
¶ And it came to passe as they sate at the table, that the word of the LORD came vnto the prophet that brought him backe:
GenevaAnd as they sate at the table, the worde of the Lord came vnto the Prophet, that brought him againe.
וַ/יְהִ֕י הֵ֥ם יֹשְׁבִ֖ים אֶל הַ/שֻּׁלְחָ֑ן וַֽ/יְהִי֙ דְּבַר יְהוָ֔ה אֶל הַ/נָּבִ֖יא אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֱשִׁיבֽ/וֹ
And he cried vnto the man of God that came from Iudah, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeied the mouth of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandement which the LORD thy God commanded thee,
GenevaAnd hee cried vnto the man of God that came from Iudah, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Because thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandement which the Lord thy God commanded thee,
וַ/יִּקְרָ֞א אֶל אִ֣ישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֗ים אֲשֶׁר בָּ֤א מִֽ/יהוּדָה֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה יַ֗עַן כִּ֤י מָרִ֨יתָ֙ פִּ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וְ/לֹ֤א שָׁמַ֨רְתָּ֙ אֶת הַ/מִּצְוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוְּ/ךָ֖ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽי/ךָ
But camest backe, and hast eaten bread, and drunke water, in the place, of the which the LORD did say to thee, Eate no bread, and drinke no water; thy carcaise shall not come vnto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
GenevaBut camest backe againe, and hast eaten bread and drunke water in the place (whereof he did say vnto thee, Thou shalt eate no bread nor drinke any water) thy carkeis shall not come vnto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
וַ/תָּ֗שָׁב וַ/תֹּ֤אכַל לֶ֨חֶם֙ וַ/תֵּ֣שְׁתְּ מַ֔יִם בַּ/מָּקוֹם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֣ר אֵלֶ֔י/ךָ אַל תֹּ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם וְ/אַל תֵּ֣שְׁתְּ מָ֑יִם לֹֽא תָב֥וֹא נִבְלָתְ/ךָ֖ אֶל קֶ֥בֶר אֲבֹתֶֽי/ךָ
¶ And it came to passe after he had eaten bread, and after hee had drunke, that he sadled for him the asse, to wit, for the Prophet, whome hee had brought backe.
GenevaAnd when he had eaten bread and drunke, he sadled him the asse, to wit, to the Prophet whome he had brought againe.
וַ/יְהִ֗י אַחֲרֵ֛י אָכְל֥/וֹ לֶ֖חֶם וְ/אַחֲרֵ֣י שְׁתוֹת֑/וֹ וַ/יַּחֲבָשׁ ל֣/וֹ הַ/חֲמ֔וֹר לַ/נָּבִ֖יא אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֱשִׁיבֽ/וֹ
And when he was gone, a lyon met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcaise was cast in the way, and the asse stood by it, the lyon also stood by the carcaise.
GenevaAnd when hee was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slewe him, and his body was cast in the way, and the asse stoode thereby: the lion stood by the corps also.
וַ/יֵּ֕לֶךְ וַ/יִּמְצָאֵ֧/הוּ אַרְיֵ֛ה בַּ/דֶּ֖רֶךְ וַ/יְמִיתֵ֑/הוּ וַ/תְּהִ֤י נִבְלָת/וֹ֙ מֻשְׁלֶ֣כֶת בַּ/דֶּ֔רֶךְ וְ/הַ/חֲמוֹר֙ עֹמֵ֣ד אֶצְלָ֔/הּ וְ/הָ֣/אַרְיֵ֔ה עֹמֵ֖ד אֵ֥צֶל הַ/נְּבֵלָֽה
And beholde, men passed by, and saw the carcaise cast in the way, and the lyon standing by the carcaise: and they came and told it in the citie where the old prophet dwelt.
GenevaAnd beholde, men that passed by, sawe the carkeis cast in the way, and the lion standing by the corps: and they came and tolde it in ye towne where the olde Prophet dwelt.
וְ/הִנֵּ֧ה אֲנָשִׁ֣ים עֹבְרִ֗ים וַ/יִּרְא֤וּ אֶת הַ/נְּבֵלָה֙ מֻשְׁלֶ֣כֶת בַּ/דֶּ֔רֶךְ וְ/אֶת הָ֣/אַרְיֵ֔ה עֹמֵ֖ד אֵ֣צֶל הַ/נְּבֵלָ֑ה וַ/יָּבֹ֨אוּ֙ וַ/יְדַבְּר֣וּ בָ/עִ֔יר אֲשֶׁ֛ר הַ/נָּבִ֥יא הַ/זָּקֵ֖ן יֹשֵׁ֥ב בָּֽ/הּ
And when the prophet that brought him back from the way, heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient vnto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath deliuered him vnto the lion, which hath torne him, and slaine him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake vnto him.
GenevaAnd when the Prophet that brought him backe againe from the waye, hearde thereof, hee sayde, It is the man of God, who hath bene disobedient vnto the commandement of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath deliuered him vnto the lion, which hath rent him and slayne him, according to the worde of the Lord, which hee spake vnto him.
וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֣ע הַ/נָּבִיא֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֱשִׁיב֣/וֹ מִן הַ/דֶּרֶךְ֒ וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֣ים ה֔וּא אֲשֶׁ֥ר מָרָ֖ה אֶת פִּ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַ/יִּתְּנֵ֨/הוּ יְהוָ֜ה לָ/אַרְיֵ֗ה וַֽ/יִּשְׁבְּרֵ֨/הוּ֙ וַ/יְמִתֵ֔/הוּ כִּ/דְבַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֶּר לֽ/וֹ
And he spake to his sonnes, saying, Saddle me the asse: and they sadled him.
GenevaAnd he spake to his sonnes, saying, Saddle me the asse. And they sadled him.
וַ/יְדַבֵּ֤ר אֶל בָּנָי/ו֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר חִבְשׁוּ לִ֖/י אֶֽת הַ/חֲמ֑וֹר וַֽ/יַּחֲבֹֽשׁוּ
And he went and found his carcaise cast in the way, and the asse and the lyon standing by the carcaise: the lyon had not eaten the carcaise, nor torne the asse.
GenevaAnd he went and founde his body cast in the way, and the asse and the lion stoode by the corps: and the lion had not eaten the bodie, nor torne the asse.
וַ/יֵּ֗לֶךְ וַ/יִּמְצָ֤א אֶת נִבְלָת/וֹ֙ מֻשְׁלֶ֣כֶת בַּ/דֶּ֔רֶךְ וַֽ/חֲמוֹר֙ וְ/הָ֣/אַרְיֵ֔ה עֹמְדִ֖ים אֵ֣צֶל הַ/נְּבֵלָ֑ה לֹֽא אָכַ֤ל הָֽ/אַרְיֵה֙ אֶת הַ/נְּבֵלָ֔ה וְ/לֹ֥א שָׁבַ֖ר אֶֽת הַ/חֲמֽוֹר
And the prophet tooke vp the carcaise of the man of God, and laid it vpon the asse, and brought it backe: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourne, and to burie him.
GenevaAnd the Prophet tooke vp the body of the man of God, and layed it vpon the asse, and brought it againe, and the olde Prophet came to the citie, to lament and burie him.
וַ/יִּשָּׂ֨א הַ/נָּבִ֜יא אֶת נִבְלַ֧ת אִישׁ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֛ים וַ/יַּנִּחֵ֥/הוּ אֶֽל הַ/חֲמ֖וֹר וַ/יְשִׁיבֵ֑/הוּ וַ/יָּבֹ֗א אֶל עִיר֙ הַ/נָּבִ֣יא הַ/זָּקֵ֔ן לִ/סְפֹּ֖ד וּ/לְ/קָבְרֽ/וֹ
And hee laid his carcaise in his owne graue, and they mourned ouer him, saying, Alas my brother.
GenevaAnd hee layed his bodie in his owne graue, and they lamented ouer him, saying, Alas, my brother.
וַ/יַּנַּ֥ח אֶת נִבְלָת֖/וֹ בְּ/קִבְר֑/וֹ וַ/יִּסְפְּד֥וּ עָלָ֖י/ו ה֥וֹי אָחִֽ/י
And it came to passe after hee had buried him, that he spake to his sonnes, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre, wherein the man of God is buried, lay my bones beside his bones.

For the saying which hee cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to passe.

¶ After this thing, Ieroboam returned not from his euill way, but made againe of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoeuer would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
GenevaHowbeit after this, Ieroboam conuerted not from his wicked way, but turned againe, and made of the lowest of the people Priests of the hie places. Who would, might consecrate him selfe, and be of the Priestes of the hie places.
אַחַר֙ הַ/דָּבָ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֔ה לֹֽא שָׁ֥ב יָרָבְעָ֖ם מִ/דַּרְכּ֣/וֹ הָ/רָעָ֑ה וַ֠/יָּשָׁב וַ/יַּ֜עַשׂ מִ/קְצ֤וֹת הָ/עָם֙ כֹּהֲנֵ֣י בָמ֔וֹת הֶֽ/חָפֵץ֙ יְמַלֵּ֣א אֶת יָד֔/וֹ וִ/יהִ֖י כֹּהֲנֵ֥י בָמֽוֹת
And this thing became sinne vnto the house of Ieroboam, euen to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.
