Chapter 6
Romans 6
What shall we say then? shall wee continue in sinne: that grace may abound?
GenevaWhat shall we say then? Shall we continue still in sinne, that grace may abounde? God forbid.
Τί οὖν ἐροῦμεν; ἐπιμένωμεν τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ, ἵνα ἡ χάρις πλεονάσῃ;
God forbid: how shall wee that are dead to sinne, liue any longer therein?
GenevaHowe shall we, that are dead to sinne, liue yet therein?
μὴ γένοιτο· οἵτινες ἀπεθάνομεν τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ, πῶς ἔτι ζήσομεν ἐν αὐτῇ;
Know ye not, that so many of vs as were baptized into Iesus Christ, were baptized into his death?
GenevaKnowe ye not, that all we which haue bene baptized into Iesus Christ, haue bene baptized into his death?
ἢ ἀγνοεῖτε ὅτι ὅσοι ἐβαπτίσθημεν εἰς Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν εἰς τὸν θάνατον αὐτοῦ ἐβαπτίσθημεν;
Therefore wee are buryed with him by baptisme into death, that like as Christ was raised vp from the dead by the glorie of the Father: euen so wee also should walke in newnesse of life.
GenevaWe are buried then with him by baptisme into his death, that like as Christ was raysed vp from the dead to the glorie of the Father, so we also should walke in newnesse of life.
For if we haue bene planted together in the likenesse of his death: wee shalbe also in the likenesse of his resurrection:
GenevaFor if we be planted with him to the similitude of his death, euen so shall we be to the similitude of his resurrection,
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the bodie of sinne might bee destroyed, that hencefoorth we should not serue sinne.
GenevaKnowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sinne might be destroied, that henceforth we should not serue sinne.
For he that is dead, is freed from sinne.
GenevaFor he that is dead, is freed from sinne.
Now if we be dead with Christ, we beleeue that we shal also liue with him:
GenevaWherefore, if we bee dead with Christ, we beleeue that we shall liue also with him,
Knowing that Christ being raysed from the dead, dieth no more, death hath no more dominion ouer him.
GenevaKnowing that Christ being raised from the dead, dieth no more: death hath no more dominion ouer him.
For in that he dyed, he dyed vnto sinne once: but in that hee liueth, hee liueth vnto God.
GenevaFor in that hee died, hee died once to sinne but in that he liueth, he liueth to God.
Likewise reckon yee also your selues to be dead indeed vnto sinne: but aliue vnto God, through Iesus Christ our Lord.
GenevaLikewise thinke ye also, that ye are dead to sin, but are aliue to God in Iesus Christ our Lord.
Let not sinne reigne therfore in your mortall body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
GenevaLet not sinne reigne therefore in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in ye lusts therof:
Neither yeeld yee your members as instruments of vnrighteousnes vnto sinne: but yeelde your selues vnto God, as those that are aliue from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousnesse vnto God.
GenevaNeither giue ye your members, as weapons of vnrighteousnes vnto sinne: but giue your selues vnto God, as they that are aliue from the dead, and giue your members as weapons of righteousnesse vnto God.
For sinne shall not haue dominion ouer you, for yee are not vnder the Law, but vnder Grace.
GenevaFor sinne shall not haue dominion ouer you: for ye are not vnder ye Lawe, but vnder grace.
What then? shal we sinne, because wee are not vnder the Law, but vnder Grace? God forbid.
GenevaWhat then? shall we sinne, because we are not vnder the Law, but vnder grace? God forbid.
Know ye not, that to whom yee yeeld your selues seruants to obey, his seruants ye are to whom ye obey: whether of sinne vnto death, or of obedience vnto righteousnesse?
GenevaKnowe ye not, that to whomsoeuer yee giue your selues as seruats to obey, his seruants ye are to whom ye obey, whether it be of sinne vnto death, or of obedience vnto righteousnesse?
οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ᾧ παριστάνετε ἑαυτοὺς δούλους εἰς ὑπακοήν, δοῦλοί ἐστε ᾧ ὑπακούετε, ἤτοι ἁμαρτίας εἰς θάνατον ἢ ὑπακοῆς εἰς δικαιοσύνην;
But God bee thanked, that yee were the seruants of sinne: but ye haue obeyed from the heart that fourme of doctrine, which was deliuered you.
GenevaBut God be thanked, that ye haue beene the seruants of sinne, but yee haue obeyed from the heart vnto the forme of the doctrine, wherunto ye were deliuered.
Being then made free from sinne, yee became the seruants of righteousnesse.
GenevaBeing then made free from sinne, yee are made the seruants of righteousnesse.
I speake after the maner of men, because of the infirmitie of your flesh: for as yee haue yeelded your members seruants to vncleannesse and to iniquitie, vnto iniquitie: euen so now yeelde your members seruants to righteousnesse, vnto holinesse.
GenevaI speake after the maner of man, because of the infirmitie of your flesh: for as yee haue giuen your members seruants to vncleannes and to iniquitie, to commit iniquitie, so now giue your mebers seruants vnto righteousnesse in holinesse.
For when yee were the seruants of sinne ye were free from righteousnesse.
GenevaFor when ye were the seruants of sinne, ye were freed from righteousnesse.
What fruit had yee then in those things, whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
GenevaWhat fruit had ye then in those things, whereof ye are nowe ashamed? For the ende of those things is death.
But now being made free from sinne, and become seruants to God, yee haue your fruit vnto holinesse, and the end euerlasting life.
GenevaBut now being freed from sinne, and made seruants vnto God, ye haue your fruit in holines, and the end, euerlasting life.
For the wages of sinne is death: but the gift of God is eternall life, through Iesus Christ our Lord.
GenevaFor the wages of sinne is death: but the gift of God is eternall life, through Iesus Christ our Lord.
