I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for euer: with my mouth will I make knowen thy faithfulnesse to all generations.
GenevaA Psalme to give instruction, of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing the mercies of the Lord for euer: with my mouth will I declare thy trueth from generation to generation.
מַ֝שְׂכִּ֗יל לְ/אֵיתָ֥ן הָֽ/אֶזְרָחִֽי
For I haue said, Mercie shall bee built vp for euer: thy faithfulnesse shalt thou establish in the very heauens.
GenevaFor I said, Mercie shalbe set vp for euer: thy trueth shalt thou stablish in ye very heauens.
חַֽסְדֵ֣י יְ֭הוָה עוֹלָ֣ם אָשִׁ֑ירָה לְ/דֹ֥ר וָ/דֹ֓ר אוֹדִ֖יעַ אֱמוּנָתְ/ךָ֣ בְּ/פִֽ/י
I haue made a couenant with my chosen: I haue sworne vnto Dauid my seruant.

כִּֽי אָמַ֗רְתִּי ע֭וֹלָם חֶ֣סֶד יִבָּנֶ֑ה שָׁמַ֓יִם תָּכִ֖ן אֱמוּנָתְ/ךָ֣ בָ/הֶֽם
Thy seed will I stablish for euer: and build vp thy throne to all generations. Selah.

כָּרַ֣תִּֽי בְ֭רִית לִ/בְחִירִ֑/י נִ֝שְׁבַּ֗עְתִּי לְ/דָוִ֥ד עַבְדִּֽ/י
And the heauens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulnes also in the congregation of the Saints.
GenevaO Lord, euen the heauens shall prayse thy wonderous worke: yea, thy trueth in the Congregation of the Saints.
עַד ע֭וֹלָם אָכִ֣ין זַרְעֶ֑/ךָ וּ/בָנִ֨יתִי לְ/דֹר וָ/ד֖וֹר כִּסְאֲ/ךָ֣ סֶֽלָה
For who in the heauen can be compared vnto the LORD? who among the sonnes of the mightie can be likened vnto the LORD?
GenevaFor who is equall to the Lord in the heauen? and who is like the Lord among the sonnes of the gods?
וְ/י֘וֹד֤וּ שָׁמַ֣יִם פִּלְאֲ/ךָ֣ יְהוָ֑ה אַף אֱ֝מֽוּנָתְ/ךָ֗ בִּ/קְהַ֥ל קְדֹשִֽׁים
God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the Saints: and to bee had in reuerence of all them that are about him.

כִּ֤י מִ֣י בַ֭/שַּׁחַק יַעֲרֹ֣ךְ לַ/יהוָ֑ה יִדְמֶ֥ה לַ֝/יהוָ֗ה בִּ/בְנֵ֥י אֵלִים
O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like vnto thee? or to thy faithfulnesse round about thee?

אֵ֣ל נַ֭עֲרָץ בְּ/סוֹד קְדֹשִׁ֣ים רַבָּ֑ה וְ֝/נוֹרָ֗א עַל כָּל סְבִיבָֽי/ו
Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waues thereof arise; thou stillest them.

Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slaine: thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arme.

אַתָּ֣ה מ֭וֹשֵׁל בְּ/גֵא֣וּת הַ/יָּ֑ם בְּ/שׂ֥וֹא גַ֝לָּ֗י/ו אַתָּ֥ה תְשַׁבְּחֵֽ/ם
The heauens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulnes thereof, thou hast founded them.

אַתָּ֤ה דִכִּ֣אתָ כֶ/חָלָ֣ל רָ֑הַב בִּ/זְר֥וֹעַ עֻ֝זְּ/ךָ֗ פִּזַּ֥רְתָּ אוֹיְבֶֽי/ךָ
The North and the South, thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall reioyce in thy Name.

לְ/ךָ֣ שָׁ֭מַיִם אַף לְ/ךָ֥ אָ֑רֶץ תֵּבֵ֥ל וּ֝/מְלֹאָ֗/הּ אַתָּ֥ה יְסַדְתָּֽ/ם
Thou hast a mighty arme: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.

צָפ֣וֹן וְ֭/יָמִין אַתָּ֣ה בְרָאתָ֑/ם תָּב֥וֹר וְ֝/חֶרְמ֗וֹן בְּ/שִׁמְ/ךָ֥ יְרַנֵּֽנוּ
Iustice and iudgement are the habitation of thy throne: mercie and trueth shall goe before thy face.
GenevaRighteousnesse and equitie are the stablishment of thy throne: mercy and trueth goe before thy face.
לְ/ךָ֣ זְ֭רוֹעַ עִם גְּבוּרָ֑ה תָּעֹ֥ז יָ֝דְ/ךָ֗ תָּר֥וּם יְמִינֶֽ/ךָ
Blessed is the people that knowe the ioyfull sound: they shall walke O LORD in the light of thy countenance.

צֶ֣דֶק וּ֭/מִשְׁפָּט מְכ֣וֹן כִּסְאֶ֑/ךָ חֶ֥סֶד וֶ֝/אֱמֶ֗ת יְֽקַדְּמ֥וּ פָנֶֽי/ךָ
In thy name shall they reioyce all the day: and in thy righteousnes shall they be exalted.

אַשְׁרֵ֣י הָ֭/עָם יוֹדְעֵ֣י תְרוּעָ֑ה יְ֝הוָ֗ה בְּֽ/אוֹר פָּנֶ֥י/ךָ יְהַלֵּכֽוּ/ן
For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy fauour our horne shall be exalted.

בְּ֭/שִׁמְ/ךָ יְגִיל֣וּ/ן כָּל הַ/יּ֑וֹם וּ/בְ/צִדְקָתְ/ךָ֥ יָרֽוּמוּ
For the LORD is our defence: and the holy One of Israel is our king.

כִּֽי תִפְאֶ֣רֶת עֻזָּ֣/מוֹ אָ֑תָּה וּ֝/בִ/רְצֹנְ/ךָ֗ תרים קַרְנֵֽ/נוּ
Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I haue laid helpe vpon one that is mightie: I haue exalted one chosen out of the people.

כִּ֣י לַֽ֭/יהוָה מָֽגִנֵּ֑/נוּ וְ/לִ/קְד֖וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל מַלְכֵּֽ/נוּ
I haue found Dauid my seruant: with my holy oile haue I anointed him.
GenevaI haue found Dauid my seruant: with mine holy oyle haue I anoynted him.
אָ֤ז דִּבַּ֥רְתָּֽ בְ/חָ֡זוֹן לַֽ/חֲסִידֶ֗י/ךָ וַ/תֹּ֗אמֶר שִׁוִּ֣יתִי עֵ֭זֶר עַל גִּבּ֑וֹר הֲרִימ֖וֹתִי בָח֣וּר מֵ/עָֽם
With whome my hand shall bee established: mine arme also shall strengthen him.
GenevaTherefore mine hande shall be established with him, and mine arme shall strengthen him.
מָ֭צָאתִי דָּוִ֣ד עַבְדִּ֑/י בְּ/שֶׁ֖מֶן קָדְשִׁ֣/י מְשַׁחְתִּֽי/ו
The enemie shall not exact vpon him: nor the sonne of wickednesse afflict him.
GenevaThe enemie shall not oppresse him, neither shall the wicked hurt him.
אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָ֭דִ/י תִּכּ֣וֹן עִמּ֑/וֹ אַף זְרוֹעִ֥/י תְאַמְּצֶֽ/נּוּ
And I will beate downe his foes before his face: and plague them that hate him.
GenevaBut I will destroy his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.
לֹֽא יַשִּׁ֣א אוֹיֵ֣ב בּ֑/וֹ וּ/בֶן עַ֝וְלָ֗ה לֹ֣א יְעַנֶּֽ/נּוּ
But my faithfulnesse and my mercy shalbe with him: and in my name shall his horne be exalted.
GenevaMy trueth also and my mercie shall be with him, and in my Name shall his horne be exalted.
וְ/כַתּוֹתִ֣י מִ/פָּנָ֣י/ו צָרָ֑י/ו וּ/מְשַׂנְאָ֥י/ו אֶגּֽוֹף
I will set his hand also in the sea: and his right hand in the riuers.

וֶֽ/אֶֽמוּנָתִ֣/י וְ/חַסְדִּ֣/י עִמּ֑/וֹ וּ֝/בִ/שְׁמִ֗/י תָּר֥וּם קַרְנֽ/וֹ
He shall crie vnto mee, Thou art my father: my God, and the rocke of my saluation.

וְ/שַׂמְתִּ֣י בַ/יָּ֣ם יָד֑/וֹ וּֽ/בַ/נְּהָר֥וֹת יְמִינֽ/וֹ
Also I will make him my first borne: higher then the kings of the earth.

ה֣וּא יִ֭קְרָאֵ/נִי אָ֣בִ/י אָ֑תָּה אֵ֝לִ֗/י וְ/צ֣וּר יְשׁוּעָתִֽ/י
My mercy will I keepe for him for euermore: and my couenant shall stand fast with him.

אַף אָ֭נִי בְּכ֣וֹר אֶתְּנֵ֑/הוּ עֶ֝לְי֗וֹן לְ/מַלְכֵי אָֽרֶץ
His seed also will I make to indure for euer: and his throne as the dayes of heauen.

לְ֭/עוֹלָ֗ם אשמור ל֣/וֹ חַסְדִּ֑/י וּ֝/בְרִיתִ֗/י נֶאֱמֶ֥נֶת לֽ/וֹ
If his children forsake my lawe, and walke not in my iudgements;

וְ/שַׂמְתִּ֣י לָ/עַ֣ד זַרְע֑/וֹ וְ֝/כִסְא֗/וֹ כִּ/ימֵ֥י שָׁמָֽיִם
If they breake my statutes, and keepe not my commandements:

אִם יַֽעַזְב֣וּ בָ֭נָי/ו תּוֹרָתִ֑/י וּ֝/בְ/מִשְׁפָּטַ֗/י לֹ֣א יֵלֵכֽוּ/ן
Then will I visite their transgression with the rod, and their iniquitie with stripes.

אִם חֻקֹּתַ֥/י יְחַלֵּ֑לוּ וּ֝/מִצְוֺתַ֗/י לֹ֣א יִשְׁמֹֽרוּ
Neuerthelesse, my louing kindnesse will I not vtterly take from him: nor suffer my faithfulnesse to faile.
GenevaYet my louing kindnesse will I not take from him, neither will I falsifie my trueth.
וּ/פָקַדְתִּ֣י בְ/שֵׁ֣בֶט פִּשְׁעָ֑/ם וּ/בִ/נְגָעִ֥ים עֲוֺנָֽ/ם
My couenant will I not breake: nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lippes.
GenevaMy couenant wil I not breake, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
וְ֭/חַסְדִּ/י לֹֽא אָפִ֣יר מֵֽ/עִמּ֑/וֹ וְ/לֹֽא אֲ֝שַׁקֵּ֗ר בֶּ/אֱמוּנָתִֽ/י
Once haue I sworne by my holinesse; that I will not lye vnto Dauid.
GenevaI haue sworne once by mine holines, that I will not fayle Dauid, saying,
לֹא אֲחַלֵּ֥ל בְּרִיתִ֑/י וּ/מוֹצָ֥א שְׂ֝פָתַ֗/י לֹ֣א אֲשַׁנֶּֽה
His seede shall endure for euer; and his throne as the sunne before me.
GenevaHis seede shall endure for euer, and his throne shalbe as the sunne before me.
אַ֭חַת נִשְׁבַּ֣עְתִּי בְ/קָדְשִׁ֑/י אִֽם לְ/דָוִ֥ד אֲכַזֵּֽב
It shalbe established for euer as the Moone: and as a faithfull witnesse in heauen. Selah.

זַ֭רְע/וֹ לְ/עוֹלָ֣ם יִהְיֶ֑ה וְ/כִסְא֖/וֹ כַ/שֶּׁ֣מֶשׁ נֶגְדִּֽ/י
But thou hast cast off and abhorred: thou hast bene wroth with thine anointed.
GenevaBut thou hast reiected and abhorred, thou hast bene angry with thine Anoynted.
כְּ֭/יָרֵחַ יִכּ֣וֹן עוֹלָ֑ם וְ/עֵ֥ד בַּ֝/שַּׁ֗חַק נֶאֱמָ֥ן סֶֽלָה
Thou hast made voyd the couenant of thy seruant: thou hast profaned his crowne, by casting it to the ground.
GenevaThou hast broken the couenant of thy seruant, and profaned his crowne, casting it on the ground.
וְ/אַתָּ֣ה זָ֭נַחְתָּ וַ/תִּמְאָ֑ס הִ֝תְעַבַּ֗רְתָּ עִם מְשִׁיחֶֽ/ךָ
Thou hast broken downe all his hedges: thou hast brought his strong holds to ruine.
GenevaThou hast broken downe all his walles: thou hast layd his fortresses in ruine.
נֵ֭אַרְתָּה בְּרִ֣ית עַבְדֶּ֑/ךָ חִלַּ֖לְתָּ לָ/אָ֣רֶץ נִזְרֽ/וֹ
All that passe by the way; spoile him: hee is a reproach to his neighbours.
GenevaAll that goe by the way, spoyle him: he is a rebuke vnto his neighbours.
פָּרַ֥צְתָּ כָל גְּדֵרֹתָ֑י/ו שַׂ֖מְתָּ מִבְצָרָ֣י/ו מְחִתָּה
Thou hast set vp the right hand of his aduersaries: thou hast made all his enemies to reioyce.

שַׁ֭סֻּ/הוּ כָּל עֹ֣בְרֵי דָ֑רֶךְ הָיָ֥ה חֶ֝רְפָּ֗ה לִ/שְׁכֵנָֽי/ו
Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword: and hast not made him to stand in the battaile.

הֲ֭רִימוֹתָ יְמִ֣ין צָרָ֑י/ו הִ֝שְׂמַ֗חְתָּ כָּל אוֹיְבָֽי/ו
Thou hast made his glory to cease: and cast his throne downe to the ground.

אַף תָּ֭שִׁיב צ֣וּר חַרְבּ֑/וֹ וְ/לֹ֥א הֲ֝קֵימֹת֗/וֹ בַּ/מִּלְחָמָֽה
The dayes of his youth hast thou shortned: thou hast couered him with shame. Selah.

הִשְׁבַּ֥תָּ מִ/טְּהָר֑/וֹ וְ֝/כִסְא֗/וֹ לָ/אָ֥רֶץ מִגַּֽרְתָּה
How long, LORD, wilt thou hide thy selfe, for euer? shall thy wrath burne like fire?

הִ֭קְצַרְתָּ יְמֵ֣י עֲלוּמָ֑י/ו הֶֽעֱטִ֨יתָ עָלָ֖י/ו בּוּשָׁ֣ה סֶֽלָה
Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vaine?
GenevaRemember of what time I am: wherefore shouldest thou create in vaine all the children of men?
עַד מָ֣ה יְ֭הוָה תִּסָּתֵ֣ר לָ/נֶ֑צַח תִּבְעַ֖ר כְּמוֹ אֵ֣שׁ חֲמָתֶֽ/ךָ
What man is he that liueth, and shall not see death? shall he deliuer his soule from the hand of the graue? Selah.
GenevaWhat man liueth, and shall not see death? shall hee deliuer his soule from the hande of the graue? Selah.
זְכָר אֲנִ֥י מֶה חָ֑לֶד עַל מַה שָּׁ֝֗וְא בָּרָ֥אתָ כָל בְּנֵי אָדָֽם
Lord, where are thy former louing kindnesses, which thou swarest vnto Dauid in thy trueth?

מִ֤י גֶ֣בֶר יִֽ֭חְיֶה וְ/לֹ֣א יִרְאֶה מָּ֑וֶת יְמַלֵּ֨ט נַפְשׁ֖/וֹ מִ/יַּד שְׁא֣וֹל סֶֽלָה
Remember (Lord) the reproach of thy seruants: how I doe beare in my bosome the reproache of all the mighty people.
GenevaRemember, O Lord, the rebuke of thy seruants, which I beare in my bosome of all the mightie people.
אַיֵּ֤ה חֲסָדֶ֖י/ךָ הָ/רִאשֹׁנִ֥ים אֲדֹנָ֑/י נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתָּ לְ֝/דָוִ֗ד בֶּ/אֱמוּנָתֶֽ/ךָ
Wherewith thine enemies haue reproached, O LORD: wherewith they haue reproached the foote-steppes of thine Annointed.
GenevaFor thine enemies haue reproched thee, O Lord, because they haue reproched the footesteps of thine Anointed.
זְכֹ֣ר אֲ֭דֹנָ/י חֶרְפַּ֣ת עֲבָדֶ֑י/ךָ שְׂאֵתִ֥/י בְ֝/חֵיקִ֗/י כָּל רַבִּ֥ים עַמִּֽים
Blessed be the LORD for euermore, Amen, and Amen.
