To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech.

Why boastest thou thy selfe in mischiefe, O mightie man? the goodnesse of God indureth continually.
GenevaTo him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid to giue instruction. When Doeg the Edomite came and shewed Saul, and saide to him, Dauid is come to the house of Abimelech. Why boastest thou thy selfe in thy wickednesse, O man of power? the louing kindenesse of God indureth dayly.
לַ/מְנַצֵּ֗חַ מַשְׂכִּ֥יל לְ/דָוִֽד
Thy tongue deuiseth mischiefes: like a sharpe rasor, working deceitfully.
GenevaThy tongue imagineth mischiefe, and is like a sharpe rasor, that cutteth deceitfully.
בְּ/ב֤וֹא דּוֹאֵ֣ג הָ/אֲדֹמִי֮ וַ/יַּגֵּ֪ד לְ/שָׁ֫א֥וּל וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר ל֑/וֹ בָּ֥א דָ֝וִ֗ד אֶל בֵּ֥ית אֲחִימֶֽלֶךְ
Thou louest euill more then good; and lying rather then to speake righteousnesse. Selah.
GenevaThou doest loue euill more then good, and lies more then to speake the trueth. Selah.
מַה תִּתְהַלֵּ֣ל בְּ֭/רָעָה הַ/גִּבּ֑וֹר חֶ֥סֶד אֵ֝֗ל כָּל הַ/יּֽוֹם
Thou louest all deuouring words, O thou deceitfull tongue.
GenevaThou louest all wordes that may destroye, O deceitfull tongue!
הַ֭וּוֹת תַּחְשֹׁ֣ב לְשׁוֹנֶ֑/ךָ כְּ/תַ֥עַר מְ֝לֻטָּ֗שׁ עֹשֵׂ֥ה רְמִיָּֽה
God shall likewise destroy thee for euer, hee shall take thee away and plucke thee out of thy dwelling place, and roote thee out of the land of the liuing. Selah.
GenevaSo shall God destroy thee for euer: he shall take thee and plucke thee out of thy tabernacle, and roote thee out of ye land of the liuing. Selah.
אָהַ֣בְתָּ רָּ֣ע מִ/טּ֑וֹב שֶׁ֓קֶר מִ/דַּבֵּ֖ר צֶ֣דֶק סֶֽלָה
The righteous also shall see, and feare, and shall laugh at him.
GenevaThe righteous also shall see it, and feare, and shall laugh at him, saying,
אָהַ֥בְתָּ כָֽל דִּבְרֵי בָ֗לַע לְשׁ֣וֹן מִרְמָֽה
Loe, this is the man that made not God his strength: but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himselfe in his wickednesse.
GenevaBeholde the man that tooke not God for his strength, but trusted vnto the multitude of his riches, and put his strength in his malice.
גַּם אֵל֮ יִתָּצְ/ךָ֪ לָ֫/נֶ֥צַח יַחְתְּ/ךָ֣ וְ/יִסָּחֲ/ךָ֣ מֵ/אֹ֑הֶל וְ/שֵֽׁרֶשְׁ/ךָ֨ מֵ/אֶ֖רֶץ חַיִּ֣ים סֶֽלָה
But I am like a greene oliue tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for euer and euer.
GenevaBut I shall bee like a greene oliue tree in the house of God: for I trusted in the mercie of God for euer and euer.
וְ/יִרְא֖וּ צַדִּיקִ֥ים וְ/יִירָ֗אוּ וְ/עָלָ֥י/ו יִשְׂחָֽקוּ
I will prayse thee for euer, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for it is good before thy Saints.
GenevaI will alway praise thee, for that thou hast done this, and I will hope in thy Name, because it is good before thy Saints.
