I sayd, I will take heede to my waies, that I sinne not with my tongue: I will keepe my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
GenevaTo the excellent musician Ieduthun. I thought, I will take heede to my wayes, that I sinne not with my tongue: I will keepe my mouth brideled, while the wicked is in my sight.
לַ/מְנַצֵּ֥חַ ל/ידיתון מִזְמ֥וֹר לְ/דָוִֽד
I was dumbe with silence, I held my peace, euen from good, and my sorrow was stirred.
GenevaI was dumme and spake nothing: I kept silece euen from good, and my sorow was more stirred.
אָמַ֗רְתִּי אֶֽשְׁמְרָ֣ה דְרָכַ/י֮ מֵ/חֲט֪וֹא בִ/לְשׁ֫וֹנִ֥/י אֶשְׁמְרָ֥ה לְ/פִ֥/י מַחְס֑וֹם בְּ/עֹ֖ד רָשָׁ֣ע לְ/נֶגְדִּֽ/י
My heart was hot within mee, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue.
GenevaMine heart was hote within me, and while I was musing, the fire kindeled, and I spake with my tongue, saying,
נֶאֱלַ֣מְתִּי ד֭וּמִיָּה הֶחֱשֵׁ֣יתִי מִ/טּ֑וֹב וּ/כְאֵבִ֥/י נֶעְכָּֽר
LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my dayes, what it is: that I may know how fraile I am.
GenevaLord, let me know mine ende, and the measure of my dayes, what it is: let mee knowe howe long I haue to liue.
חַם לִבִּ֨/י בְּ/קִרְבִּ֗/י בַּ/הֲגִיגִ֥/י תִבְעַר אֵ֑שׁ דִּ֝בַּ֗רְתִּי בִּ/לְשֽׁוֹנִ/י
Behold, thou hast made my dayes as an hand breadth, and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily euery man at his best state is altogether vanitie. Selah.

הוֹדִ֘יעֵ֤/נִי יְהוָ֨ה קִצִּ֗/י וּ/מִדַּ֣ת יָמַ֣/י מַה הִ֑יא אֵ֝דְעָ֗ה מֶה חָדֵ֥ל אָֽנִי
Surely euery man walketh in a vaine shew: surely they are disquieted in vaine: he heapeth vp riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
GenevaDoubtlesse man walketh in a shadowe, and disquieteth himselfe in vaine: he heapeth vp riches, and cannot tell who shall gather them.
הִנֵּ֤ה טְפָח֨וֹת נָ֘תַ֤תָּה יָמַ֗/י וְ/חֶלְדִּ֣/י כְ/אַ֣יִן נֶגְדֶּ֑/ךָ אַ֥ךְ כָּֽל הֶ֥בֶל כָּל אָ֝דָ֗ם נִצָּ֥ב סֶֽלָה
And now Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
GenevaAnd now Lord, what wait I for? mine hope is euen in thee.
אַךְ בְּ/צֶ֤לֶם יִֽתְהַלֶּךְ אִ֗ישׁ אַךְ הֶ֥בֶל יֶהֱמָי֑וּ/ן יִ֝צְבֹּ֗ר וְֽ/לֹא יֵדַ֥ע מִי אֹסְפָֽ/ם
Deliuer me from all my transgressions: make mee not the reproch of the foolish.
GenevaDeliuer me from all my transgressions, and make me not a rebuke vnto the foolish.
וְ/עַתָּ֣ה מַה קִּוִּ֣יתִי אֲדֹנָ֑/י תּ֝וֹחַלְתִּ֗/י לְ/ךָ֣ הִֽיא
I was dumbe, I opened not my mouth; because thou diddest it.
GenevaI should haue bene dumme, and not haue opened my mouth, because thou didest it.
מִ/כָּל פְּשָׁעַ֥/י הַצִּילֵ֑/נִי חֶרְפַּ֥ת נָ֝בָ֗ל אַל תְּשִׂימֵֽ/נִי
Remooue thy stroke away from mee: I am consumed by the blowe of thine hand.
GenevaTake thy plague away from mee: for I am consumed by the stroke of thine hand.
נֶ֭אֱלַמְתִּי לֹ֣א אֶפְתַּח פִּ֑/י כִּ֖י אַתָּ֣ה עָשִֽׂיתָ
When thou with rebukes doest correct man for iniquitie, thou makest his beautie to consume away like a moth: surely euery man is vanitie. Selah.

הָסֵ֣ר מֵ/עָלַ֣/י נִגְעֶ֑/ךָ מִ/תִּגְרַ֥ת יָ֝דְ/ךָ֗ אֲנִ֣י כָלִֽיתִי
Heare my prayer, O LORD, and giue eare vnto my crie, hold not thy peace at my teares: for I am a straunger with thee, and a soiourner, as all my fathers were.
GenevaHeare my prayer, O Lord, and hearken vnto my cry: keepe not silence at my teares, for I am a strager with thee, and a soiourner as all my fathers.
בְּֽ/תוֹכָ֘ח֤וֹת עַל עָוֺ֨ן יִסַּ֬רְתָּ אִ֗ישׁ וַ/תֶּ֣מֶס כָּ/עָ֣שׁ חֲמוּד֑/וֹ אַ֤ךְ הֶ֖בֶל כָּל אָדָ֣ם סֶֽלָה
O spare me, that I may recouer strength: before I goe hence, and be no more.
GenevaStay thine anger from me, that I may recouer my strength, before I go hence and be not.
