Psalms 10
Why standest thou afarre off, O LORD? why hidest thou thy selfe in times of trouble?
GenevaWhy standest thou farre off, O Lord, and hidest thee in due time, euen in affliction?
לָ/מָ֣ה יְ֭הוָה תַּעֲמֹ֣ד בְּ/רָח֑וֹק תַּ֝עְלִ֗ים לְ/עִתּ֥וֹת בַּצָּרָֽה
The wicked in his pride doeth persecute the poore: let them be taken in the deuices that they haue imagined.
GenevaThe wicked with pride doeth persecute the poore: let them be taken in the craftes that they haue imagined.
בְּ/גַאֲוַ֣ת רָ֭שָׁע יִדְלַ֣ק עָנִ֑י יִתָּפְשׂ֓וּ בִּ/מְזִמּ֖וֹת ז֣וּ חָשָֽׁבוּ
For the wicked boasteth of his hearts desire, and blesseth the couetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.
GenevaFor the wicked hath made boast of his owne heartes desire, and the couetous blesseth himselfe: he contemneth the Lord.
כִּֽי הִלֵּ֣ל רָ֭שָׁע עַל תַּאֲוַ֣ת נַפְשׁ֑/וֹ וּ/בֹצֵ֥עַ בֵּ֝רֵ֗ךְ נִ֘אֵ֥ץ יְהוָֽה
The wicked through the pride of his countenance will not seeke after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
GenevaThe wicked is so proude that hee seeketh not for God: hee thinketh alwayes, There is no God.
רָשָׁ֗ע כְּ/גֹ֣בַהּ אַ֭פּ/וֹ בַּל יִדְרֹ֑שׁ אֵ֥ין אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים כָּל מְזִמּוֹתָֽי/ו
His wayes are alwayes grieuous, thy iudgements are farre aboue out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
GenevaHis wayes alway prosper: thy iudgements are hie aboue his sight: therefore defieth he all his enemies.
יָ֘חִ֤ילוּ דרכ/ו בְּ/כָל עֵ֗ת מָר֣וֹם מִ֭שְׁפָּטֶי/ךָ מִ/נֶּגְדּ֑/וֹ כָּל צ֝וֹרְרָ֗י/ו יָפִ֥יחַ בָּ/הֶֽם
He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moued: for I shall neuer be in aduersitie.
GenevaHe saith in his heart, I shall neuer be moued, nor be in danger.
אָמַ֣ר בְּ֭/לִבּ/וֹ בַּל אֶמּ֑וֹט לְ/דֹ֥ר וָ֝/דֹ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא בְ/רָֽע
His mouth is full of cursing, and deceit, and fraud: vnder his tongue is mischiefe and vanitie.
GenevaHis mouth is full of cursing and deceite and fraude: vnder his tongue is mischiefe and iniquitie.
אָלָ֤ה פִּ֣י/הוּ מָ֭לֵא וּ/מִרְמ֣וֹת וָ/תֹ֑ךְ תַּ֥חַת לְ֝שׁוֹנ֗/וֹ עָמָ֥ל וָ/אָֽוֶן
He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doeth he murder the innocent: his eyes are priuily set against the poore.
GenevaHe lieth in waite in the villages: in the secret places doeth hee murder the innocent: his eyes are bent against the poore.
יֵשֵׁ֤ב בְּ/מַאְרַ֬ב חֲצֵרִ֗ים בַּֽ֭/מִּסְתָּרִים יַהֲרֹ֣ג נָקִ֑י עֵ֝ינָ֗י/ו לְֽ/חֵלְכָ֥ה יִצְפֹּֽנוּ
He lieth in waite secretly as a lyon in his denne, he lieth in wait to catch the poore: he doth catch the poore when he draweth him into his net.
GenevaHe lyeth in waite secretly, euen as a lyon in his denne: he lyeth in waite to spoyle the poore: he doeth spoyle the poore, when he draweth him into his net.
יֶאֱרֹ֬ב בַּ/מִּסְתָּ֨ר כְּ/אַרְיֵ֬ה בְ/סֻכֹּ֗/ה יֶ֭אֱרֹב לַ/חֲט֣וֹף עָנִ֑י יַחְטֹ֥ף עָ֝נִ֗י בְּ/מָשְׁכ֥/וֹ בְ/רִשְׁתּֽ/וֹ
He croucheth, and humbleth himselfe, that the poore may fall by his strong ones.
GenevaHe croucheth and boweth: therefore heaps of the poore doe fall by his might.
ו/דכה יָשֹׁ֑חַ וְ/נָפַ֥ל בַּ֝/עֲצוּמָ֗י/ו חלכאים
Hee hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face, hee will neuer see it.
GenevaHe hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten, he hideth away his face, and will neuer see.
אָמַ֣ר בְּ֭/לִבּ/וֹ שָׁ֣כַֽח אֵ֑ל הִסְתִּ֥יר פָּ֝נָ֗י/ו בַּל רָאָ֥ה לָ/נֶֽצַח
Arise, O LORD, O God lift vp thine hand: forget not the humble.
GenevaArise, O Lord God: lift vp thine hande: forget not the poore.
קוּמָ֤/ה יְהוָ֗ה אֵ֭ל נְשָׂ֣א יָדֶ֑/ךָ אַל תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח עניים
Wherefore doeth the wicked contemne God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
GenevaWherefore doeth the wicked contemne God? he saith in his heart, Thou wilt not regard.
עַל מֶ֤ה נִאֵ֖ץ רָשָׁ֥ע אֱלֹהִ֑ים אָמַ֥ר בְּ֝/לִבּ֗/וֹ לֹ֣א תִּדְרֹֽשׁ
Thou hast seene it, for thou beholdest mischiefe and spite to requite it with thy hand: the poore committeth himselfe vnto thee, thou art the helper of the fatherlesse.
GenevaYet thou hast seene it: for thou beholdest mischiefe and wrong, that thou mayest take it into thine handes: the poore committeth himselfe vnto thee: for thou art the helper of the fatherlesse.
רָאִ֡תָה כִּֽי אַתָּ֤ה עָ֘מָ֤ל וָ/כַ֨עַס תַּבִּיט֮ לָ/תֵ֪ת בְּ/יָ֫דֶ֥/ךָ עָ֭לֶי/ךָ יַעֲזֹ֣ב חֵלֶ֑כָה יָ֝ת֗וֹם אַתָּ֤ה הָיִ֬יתָ עוֹזֵֽר
Breake thou the arme of the wicked, and the euill man: seeke out his wickednes, till thou finde none.
GenevaBreake thou the arme of the wicked and malicious: searche his wickednes, and thou shalt finde none.
שְׁ֭בֹר זְר֣וֹעַ רָשָׁ֑ע וָ֝/רָ֗ע תִּֽדְרוֹשׁ רִשְׁע֥/וֹ בַל תִּמְצָֽא
The LORD is King for euer and euer: the heathen are perished out of his land.
GenevaThe Lord is King for euer and euer: the heathen are destroyed foorth of his land.
יְהוָ֣ה מֶ֭לֶךְ עוֹלָ֣ם וָ/עֶ֑ד אָבְד֥וּ ג֝וֹיִ֗ם מֵֽ/אַרְצֽ/וֹ
LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine eare to heare,
GenevaLord, thou hast heard the desire of the poore: thou preparest their heart: thou bendest thine eare to them,
תַּאֲוַ֬ת עֲנָוִ֣ים שָׁמַ֣עְתָּ יְהוָ֑ה תָּכִ֥ין לִ֝בָּ֗/ם תַּקְשִׁ֥יב אָזְנֶֽ/ךָ
To iudge the fatherlesse and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppresse.
GenevaTo iudge the fatherlesse and poore, that earthly man cause to feare no more.
לִ/שְׁפֹּ֥ט יָת֗וֹם וָ֫/דָ֥ךְ בַּל יוֹסִ֥יף ע֑וֹד לַ/עֲרֹ֥ץ אֱ֝נ֗וֹשׁ מִן הָ/אָֽרֶץ
