Proverbs 3
My sonne, forget not my lawe; but let thine heart keepe my commaundements:
GenevaMy sonne, forget not thou my Lawe, but let thine heart keepe my commandements.
בְּ֭נִ/י תּוֹרָתִ֣/י אַל תִּשְׁכָּ֑ח וּ֝/מִצְוֺתַ֗/י יִצֹּ֥ר לִבֶּֽ/ךָ
For length of dayes, and long life, and peace shall they adde to thee.
GenevaFor they shall increase the length of thy dayes and the yeeres of life, and thy prosperitie.
כִּ֤י אֹ֣רֶךְ יָ֭מִים וּ/שְׁנ֣וֹת חַיִּ֑ים וְ֝/שָׁל֗וֹם יוֹסִ֥יפוּ לָֽ/ךְ
Let not mercy and trueth forsake thee: bind them about thy necke, write them vpon the table of thine heart.

חֶ֥סֶד וֶ/אֱמֶ֗ת אַֽל יַעַ֫זְבֻ֥/ךָ קָשְׁרֵ֥/ם עַל גַּרְגְּרוֹתֶ֑י/ךָ כָּ֝תְבֵ֗/ם עַל ל֥וּחַ לִבֶּֽ/ךָ
So shalt thou find fauour, and good vnderstanding in the sight of God, and man.
GenevaSo shalt thou finde fauour and good vnderstanding in the sight of God and man.
וּ/מְצָא חֵ֖ן וְ/שֵֽׂכֶל ט֑וֹב בְּ/עֵינֵ֖י אֱלֹהִ֣ים וְ/אָדָֽם
¶ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and leaue not vnto thine owne vnderstanding.
GenevaTrust in the Lord with all thine heart, and leane not vnto thine owne wisdome.
בְּטַ֣ח אֶל יְ֭הוָה בְּ/כָל לִבֶּ֑/ךָ וְ/אֶל בִּֽ֝ינָתְ/ךָ֗ אַל תִּשָּׁעֵֽן
In all thy wayes acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy pathes.
GenevaIn all thy wayes acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy wayes.
בְּ/כָל דְּרָכֶ֥י/ךָ דָעֵ֑/הוּ וְ֝/ה֗וּא יְיַשֵּׁ֥ר אֹֽרְחֹתֶֽי/ךָ
¶ Be not wise in thine owne eyes: feare the LORD, and depart from euill.
GenevaBe not wise in thine owne eyes: but feare the Lord, and depart from euill.
אַל תְּהִ֣י חָכָ֣ם בְּ/עֵינֶ֑י/ךָ יְרָ֥א אֶת יְ֝הוָ֗ה וְ/ס֣וּר מֵ/רָֽע
It shalbe health to thy nauill, and marrow to thy bones.
GenevaSo health shalbe vnto thy nauel, and marowe vnto thy bones.
רִ֭פְאוּת תְּהִ֣י לְ/שָׁרֶּ֑/ךָ וְ֝/שִׁקּ֗וּי לְ/עַצְמוֹתֶֽי/ךָ
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase.
GenevaHonour the Lord with thy riches, and with the first fruites of all thine increase.
כַּבֵּ֣ד אֶת יְ֭הוָה מֵ/הוֹנֶ֑/ךָ וּ֝/מֵ/רֵאשִׁ֗ית כָּל תְּבוּאָתֶֽ/ךָ
So shall thy barnes be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
GenevaSo shall thy barnes be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall burst with newe wine.
וְ/יִמָּלְא֣וּ אֲסָמֶ֣י/ךָ שָׂבָ֑ע וְ֝/תִיר֗וֹשׁ יְקָבֶ֥י/ךָ יִפְרֹֽצוּ
¶ My sonne, despise not the chastening of the LORD: neither be weary of his correction.
GenevaMy sonne, refuse not the chastening of the Lord, neither be grieued with his correction.
מוּסַ֣ר יְ֭הוָה בְּנִ֣/י אַל תִּמְאָ֑ס וְ/אַל תָּ֝קֹ֗ץ בְּ/תוֹכַחְתּֽ/וֹ
For whom the LORD loueth, he correcteth, euen as a father the sonne, in whom he delighteth.
GenevaFor the Lord correcteth him, whome he loueth, euen as the father doeth the childe in whom he deliteth.
כִּ֤י אֶ֥ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֶאֱהַ֣ב יְהוָ֣ה יוֹכִ֑יחַ וּ֝/כְ/אָ֗ב אֶת בֵּ֥ן יִרְצֶֽה
¶ Happy is the man that findeth wisedome, and the man that getteth vnderstanding.
GenevaBlessed is the man that findeth wisedome, and the man that getteth vnderstanding.
אַשְׁרֵ֣י אָ֭דָם מָצָ֣א חָכְמָ֑ה וְ֝/אָדָ֗ם יָפִ֥יק תְּבוּנָֽה
For the merchandise of it is better then the merchandise of siluer, and the gaine thereof, then fine gold.
GenevaFor the marchandise thereof is better then the marchandise of siluer, and the gaine thereof is better then golde.
כִּ֤י ט֣וֹב סַ֭חְרָ/הּ מִ/סְּחַר כָּ֑סֶף וּ֝/מֵ/חָר֗וּץ תְּבוּאָתָֽ/הּ
She is more precious then Rubies: and all the things thou canst desire, are not to be compared vnto her.

יְקָ֣רָה הִ֭יא מ/פניים וְ/כָל חֲ֝פָצֶ֗י/ךָ לֹ֣א יִֽשְׁווּ בָֽ/הּ
Length of dayes is in her right hand: and in her left hand, riches and honour.
GenevaLength of dayes is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory.
אֹ֣רֶךְ יָ֭מִים בִּֽ/ימִינָ֑/הּ בִּ֝/שְׂמֹאולָ֗/הּ עֹ֣שֶׁר וְ/כָבֽוֹד
Her wayes are wayes of plesantnesse: and all her pathes are peace.
GenevaHer wayes are wayes of pleasure, and all her pathes prosperitie.
דְּרָכֶ֥י/הָ דַרְכֵי נֹ֑עַם וְֽ/כָל נְתִ֖יבוֹתֶ֣י/הָ שָׁלֽוֹם
She is a tree of life, to them that lay hold vpon her: and happy is euery one that retaineth her.
GenevaShe is a tree of life to them that lay holde on her, and blessed is he that retaineth her.
עֵץ חַיִּ֣ים הִ֭יא לַ/מַּחֲזִיקִ֣ים בָּ֑/הּ וְֽ/תֹמְכֶ֥י/הָ מְאֻשָּֽׁר
The LORD by wisedome hath founded the earth; by vnderstanding hath he established the heauens.
GenevaThe Lord by wisdome hath layde the foundation of the earth, and hath stablished the heauens through vnderstanding.
יְֽהוָ֗ה בְּ/חָכְמָ֥ה יָֽסַד אָ֑רֶץ כּוֹנֵ֥ן שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם בִּ/תְבוּנָֽה
By his knowledge the depthes are broken vp; and the cloudes droppe downe the dew.
GenevaBy his knowledge the depthes are broken vp, and the cloudes droppe downe the dewe.
בְּ֭/דַעְתּ/וֹ תְּהוֹמ֣וֹת נִבְקָ֑עוּ וּ֝/שְׁחָקִ֗ים יִרְעֲפוּ טָֽל
¶ My sonne, let not them depart from thine eyes: keepe sound wisedome and discretion.
GenevaMy sonne, let not these things depart from thine eyes, but obserue wisdome, and counsell.
בְּ֭נִ/י אַל יָלֻ֣זוּ מֵ/עֵינֶ֑י/ךָ נְצֹ֥ר תֻּ֝שִׁיָּ֗ה וּ/מְזִמָּֽה
So shall they bee life vnto thy soule, and grace to thy necke.
GenevaSo they shalbe life to thy soule, and grace vnto thy necke.
וְ/יִֽהְי֣וּ חַיִּ֣ים לְ/נַפְשֶׁ֑/ךָ וְ֝/חֵ֗ן לְ/גַרְגְּרֹתֶֽי/ךָ
Then shalt thou walke in thy way safely, & thy foot shall not stumble.
GenevaThen shalt thou walke safely by thy way: and thy foote shall not stumble.
אָ֤ז תֵּלֵ֣ךְ לָ/בֶ֣טַח דַּרְכֶּ֑/ךָ וְ֝/רַגְלְ/ךָ֗ לֹ֣א תִגּֽוֹף
When thou lyest downe, thou shalt not be afraide: yea, thou shalt lye downe, and thy sleepe shalbe sweet.
GenevaIf thou sleepest, thou shalt not bee afraide, and when thou sleepest, thy sleepe shalbe sweete.
אִם תִּשְׁכַּ֥ב לֹֽא תִפְחָ֑ד וְ֝/שָׁכַבְתָּ֗ וְֽ/עָרְבָ֥ה שְׁנָתֶֽ/ךָ
Be not afraid of sudden feare, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it commeth.
GenevaThou shalt not feare for any sudden feare, neither for the destruction of the wicked, when it commeth.
אַל תִּ֭ירָא מִ/פַּ֣חַד פִּתְאֹ֑ם וּ/מִ/שֹּׁאַ֥ת רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים כִּ֣י תָבֹֽא
For the LORD shalbe thy confidence, and shall keepe thy foote from being taken.
GenevaFor the Lord shall be for thine assurance, and shall preserue thy foote from taking.
כִּֽי יְ֭הוָה יִהְיֶ֣ה בְ/כִסְלֶ֑/ךָ וְ/שָׁמַ֖ר רַגְלְ/ךָ֣ מִ/לָּֽכֶד
¶ Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to doe it.
GenevaWithhold not the good from the owners thereof, though there be power in thine hand to doe it.
אַל תִּמְנַע ט֥וֹב מִ/בְּעָלָ֑י/ו בִּ/הְי֨וֹת לְ/אֵ֖ל ידי/ך לַ/עֲשֽׂוֹת
Say not vnto thy neighbour, Goe, and come againe, and to morrow I will giue, when thou hast it by thee.
GenevaSay not vnto thy neighbour, Go and come againe, and to morow wil I giue thee, if thou now haue it.
אַל תֹּ֘אמַ֤ר ל/רעי/ך לֵ֣ךְ וָ֭/שׁוּב וּ/מָחָ֥ר אֶתֵּ֗ן וְ/יֵ֣שׁ אִתָּֽ/ךְ
Deuise not euil against thy neighbour, seeing hee dwelleth securely by thee.
GenevaIntend none hurt against thy neighbour, seeing he doeth dwell without feare by thee.
אַל תַּחֲרֹ֣שׁ עַל רֵעֲ/ךָ֣ רָעָ֑ה וְ/הֽוּא יוֹשֵׁ֖ב לָ/בֶ֣טַח אִתָּֽ/ךְ
¶ Striue not with a man without cause, if hee haue done thee no harme.
GenevaStriue not with a man causelesse, when he hath done thee no harme.
אַל תרוב עִם אָדָ֣ם חִנָּ֑ם אִם לֹ֖א גְמָלְ/ךָ֣ רָעָֽה
¶ Enuie thou not the oppressour, and choose none of his wayes.
GenevaBee not enuious for the wicked man, neither chuse any of his wayes.
אַל תְּ֭קַנֵּא בְּ/אִ֣ישׁ חָמָ֑ס וְ/אַל תִּ֝בְחַ֗ר בְּ/כָל דְּרָכָֽי/ו
For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.
GenevaFor the frowarde is abomination vnto the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.
כִּ֤י תוֹעֲבַ֣ת יְהוָ֣ה נָל֑וֹז וְֽ/אֶת יְשָׁרִ֥ים סוֹדֽ/וֹ
¶ The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the iust.
GenevaThe curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.
מְאֵרַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה בְּ/בֵ֣ית רָשָׁ֑ע וּ/נְוֵ֖ה צַדִּיקִ֣ים יְבָרֵֽךְ
Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giueth grace vnto the lowly.
GenevaWith the scornefull he scorneth, but hee giueth grace vnto the humble.
אִם לַ/לֵּצִ֥ים הֽוּא יָלִ֑יץ ו/ל/עניים יִתֶּן חֵֽן
The wise shall inherite glory, but shame shalbe the promotion of fooles.
GenevaThe wise shall inherite glorie: but fooles dishonour, though they be exalted.
כָּ֭בוֹד חֲכָמִ֣ים יִנְחָ֑לוּ וּ֝/כְסִילִ֗ים מֵרִ֥ים קָלֽוֹן
