Numbers 23
And Balaam saide vnto Balak, Build me here seuen Altars, and prepare mee here seuen oxen, and seuen rammes.
GenevaAnd Balaam sayd vnto Balak, Builde me here seuen altars, and prepare me here seuen bullockes, and seuen rammes.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר בִּלְעָם֙ אֶל בָּלָ֔ק בְּנֵה לִ֥/י בָ/זֶ֖ה שִׁבְעָ֣ה מִזְבְּחֹ֑ת וְ/הָכֵ֥ן לִ/י֙ בָּ/זֶ֔ה שִׁבְעָ֥ה פָרִ֖ים וְ/שִׁבְעָ֥ה אֵילִֽים
And Balak did as Balaam had spoken, and Balak & Balaam offered on euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.
GenevaAnd Balak did as Balaam sayd, and Balak and Balaam offred on euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.
וַ/יַּ֣עַשׂ בָּלָ֔ק כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּ֣ר בִּלְעָ֑ם וַ/יַּ֨עַל בָּלָ֧ק וּ/בִלְעָ֛ם פָּ֥ר וָ/אַ֖יִל בַּ/מִּזְבֵּֽחַ
And Balaam said vnto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offring, and I wil goe: peraduenture the LORD will come to meete mee; and whatsoeuer he sheweth me, I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.
GenevaThen Balaam sayde vnto Balak, Stande by the burnt offring, and I will goe, if so be that the Lord will come and meete me: and whatsoeuer he sheweth me, I will tell thee: so he went forth alone.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר בִּלְעָ֜ם לְ/בָלָ֗ק הִתְיַצֵּב֮ עַל עֹלָתֶ/ךָ֒ וְ/אֵֽלְכָ֗ה אוּלַ֞י יִקָּרֵ֤ה יְהוָה֙ לִ/קְרָאתִ֔/י וּ/דְבַ֥ר מַה יַּרְאֵ֖/נִי וְ/הִגַּ֣דְתִּי לָ֑/ךְ וַ/יֵּ֖לֶךְ שֶֽׁפִי
And God met Balaam, and he said vnto him, I haue prepared seuen altars, and I haue offered vpon euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.
GenevaAnd God met Balaam, and Balaam sayd vnto him, I haue prepared seuen altars, and haue offred vpon euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.
וַ/יִּקָּ֥ר אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל בִּלְעָ֑ם וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗י/ו אֶת שִׁבְעַ֤ת הַֽ/מִּזְבְּחֹת֙ עָרַ֔כְתִּי וָ/אַ֛עַל פָּ֥ר וָ/אַ֖יִל בַּ/מִּזְבֵּֽחַ
And the LORD put a word in Balaams mouth, and said, Returne vnto Balak, & thus thou shalt speake.
GenevaAnd the Lord put an answere in Balaams mouth, and sayde, Go againe to Balak, and say on this wise.
וַ/יָּ֧שֶׂם יְהוָ֛ה דָּבָ֖ר בְּ/פִ֣י בִלְעָ֑ם וַ/יֹּ֛אמֶר שׁ֥וּב אֶל בָּלָ֖ק וְ/כֹ֥ה תְדַבֵּֽר
And he returned vnto him, and loe, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, hee, and all the Princes of Moab.
GenevaSo when he returned vnto him, loe, hee stoode by his burnt offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.
וַ/יָּ֣שָׁב אֵלָ֔י/ו וְ/הִנֵּ֥ה נִצָּ֖ב עַל עֹלָת֑/וֹ ה֖וּא וְ/כָל שָׂרֵ֥י מוֹאָֽב
And he tooke vp his parable, and said, Balak the King of Moab hath brought mee from Aram, out of the mountaines of the East, saying, Come, curse me Iacob, and come, defie Israel.
GenevaThen he vttered his parable, and sayde, Balak the king of Moab hath brought mee from Aram out of the mountaines of the East, saying, Come, curse Iaakob for my sake: come, and detest Israel.
וַ/יִּשָּׂ֥א מְשָׁל֖/וֹ וַ/יֹּאמַ֑ר מִן אֲ֠רָם יַנְחֵ֨/נִי בָלָ֤ק מֶֽלֶךְ מוֹאָב֙ מֵֽ/הַרְרֵי קֶ֔דֶם לְכָ/ה֙ אָֽרָ/ה לִּ֣/י יַעֲקֹ֔ב וּ/לְכָ֖/ה זֹעֲמָ֥/ה יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defie, whom the LORD hath not defied?
GenevaHow shall I curse, where God hath not cursed? or howe shall I detest, where the Lord hath not detested?
מָ֣ה אֶקֹּ֔ב לֹ֥א קַבֹּ֖/ה אֵ֑ל וּ/מָ֣ה אֶזְעֹ֔ם לֹ֥א זָעַ֖ם יְהוָֽה
For from the top of the rockes I see him, and from the hilles I behold him: loe, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not bee reckoned among the nations.
GenevaFor from the top of the rocks I did see him, and from the hils I did beholde him: lo, the people shall dwell by themselues, and shall not be reckened among the nations.
כִּֽי מֵ/רֹ֤אשׁ צֻרִים֙ אֶרְאֶ֔/נּוּ וּ/מִ/גְּבָע֖וֹת אֲשׁוּרֶ֑/נּוּ הֶן עָם֙ לְ/בָדָ֣ד יִשְׁכֹּ֔ן וּ/בַ/גּוֹיִ֖ם לֹ֥א יִתְחַשָּֽׁב
Who can count the dust of Iacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let mee die the death of the righteous, & let my last end be like his.

מִ֤י מָנָה֙ עֲפַ֣ר יַעֲקֹ֔ב וּ/מִסְפָּ֖ר אֶת רֹ֣בַע יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל תָּמֹ֤ת נַפְשִׁ/י֙ מ֣וֹת יְשָׁרִ֔ים וּ/תְהִ֥י אַחֲרִיתִ֖/י כָּמֹֽ/הוּ
And Balak saide vnto Balaam, What hast thou done vnto me? I tooke thee to curse mine enemies, and behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.

וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר בָּלָק֙ אֶל בִּלְעָ֔ם מֶ֥ה עָשִׂ֖יתָ לִ֑/י לָ/קֹ֤ב אֹיְבַ/י֙ לְקַחְתִּ֔י/ךָ וְ/הִנֵּ֖ה בֵּרַ֥כְתָּ בָרֵֽךְ
And he answered, and said, Must I not take heede to speake that which the LORD hath put in my mouth?
GenevaAnd he answered, and said, Must I not take heede to speake that, which the Lord hath put in my mouth?
וַ/יַּ֖עַן וַ/יֹּאמַ֑ר הֲ/לֹ֗א אֵת֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָשִׂ֤ים יְהוָה֙ בְּ/פִ֔/י אֹת֥/וֹ אֶשְׁמֹ֖ר לְ/דַבֵּֽר
And Balak said vnto him, Come, I pray thee, with me, vnto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the vtmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.
GenevaAnd Balak sayde vnto him, Come, I pray thee, with mee vnto another place, whence thou mayest see them, and thou shalt see but the vtmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: therefore curse them out of that place for my sake.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֜י/ו בָּלָ֗ק לך נָּ֨א אִתִּ֜/י אֶל מָק֤וֹם אַחֵר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּרְאֶ֣/נּוּ מִ/שָּׁ֔ם אֶ֚פֶס קָצֵ֣/הוּ תִרְאֶ֔ה וְ/כֻלּ֖/וֹ לֹ֣א תִרְאֶ֑ה וְ/קָבְ/נוֹ לִ֖/י מִ/שָּֽׁם
¶ And hee brought him into the fielde of Zophim, to the toppe of Pisgah, and built seuen altars, and offered a bullocke and a ramme on euery altar.
GenevaAnd he brought him into Sede-sophim to the top of Pisgah, and built seuen altars, and offred a bullocke, and a ramme on euery altar.
וַ/יִּקָּחֵ֨/הוּ֙ שְׂדֵ֣ה צֹפִ֔ים אֶל רֹ֖אשׁ הַ/פִּסְגָּ֑ה וַ/יִּ֨בֶן֙ שִׁבְעָ֣ה מִזְבְּחֹ֔ת וַ/יַּ֛עַל פָּ֥ר וָ/אַ֖יִל בַּ/מִּזְבֵּֽחַ
And he said vnto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt offering, while I meete the LORD yonder.
GenevaAfter, he sayde vnto Balak, Stande here by thy burnt offring, and I wil meete the Lord yonder.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל בָּלָ֔ק הִתְיַצֵּ֥ב כֹּ֖ה עַל עֹלָתֶ֑/ךָ וְ/אָנֹכִ֖י אִקָּ֥רֶה כֹּֽה
And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and saide, Goe againe vnto Balak, and say thus.
GenevaAnd the Lord mette Balaam, and put an answere in his mouth, and sayd, Goe againe vnto Balak, and say thus.
וַ/יִּקָּ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֶל בִּלְעָ֔ם וַ/יָּ֥שֶׂם דָּבָ֖ר בְּ/פִ֑י/ו וַ/יֹּ֛אמֶר שׁ֥וּב אֶל בָּלָ֖ק וְ/כֹ֥ה תְדַבֵּֽר
And when hee came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offring, and the Princes of Moab with him. And Balak said vnto him, What hath the LORD spoken?
GenevaAnd when he came to him, beholde, hee stoode by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him: so Balak sayde vnto him, What hath the Lord sayd?
וַ/יָּבֹ֣א אֵלָ֗י/ו וְ/הִנּ֤/וֹ נִצָּב֙ עַל עֹ֣לָת֔/וֹ וְ/שָׂרֵ֥י מוֹאָ֖ב אִתּ֑/וֹ וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר ל/וֹ֙ בָּלָ֔ק מַה דִּבֶּ֖ר יְהוָֽה
And he tooke vp his parable, and said, Rise vp Balak, & heare; hearken vnto me, thou sonne of Zippor:
GenevaAnd he vttered his parable, and sayde, Rise vp, Balak, and heare: hearken vnto me, thou sonne of Zippor.
וַ/יִּשָּׂ֥א מְשָׁל֖/וֹ וַ/יֹּאמַ֑ר ק֤וּם בָּלָק֙ וּֽ/שֲׁמָ֔ע הַאֲזִ֥ינָ/ה עָדַ֖/י בְּנ֥/וֹ צִפֹּֽר
God is not a man that he should lie, neither the sonne of man, that hee should repent: hath he said, and shall he not doe it? or, hath hee spoken, and shall he not make it good?
GenevaGod is not as man, that he should lie, neither as the sonne of man that he shoulde repent: hath he sayde and shall he not do it? and hath he spoken, and shall he not accomplish it?
לֹ֣א אִ֥ישׁ אֵל֙ וִֽ/יכַזֵּ֔ב וּ/בֶן אָדָ֖ם וְ/יִתְנֶחָ֑ם הַ/ה֤וּא אָמַר֙ וְ/לֹ֣א יַעֲשֶׂ֔ה וְ/דִבֶּ֖ר וְ/לֹ֥א יְקִימֶֽ/נָּה
Behold, I haue receiued commandement to blesse: and hee hath blessed, and I cannot reuerse it.

הִנֵּ֥ה בָרֵ֖ךְ לָקָ֑חְתִּי וּ/בֵרֵ֖ךְ וְ/לֹ֥א אֲשִׁיבֶֽ/נָּה
Hee hath not beheld iniquitie in Iacob, neither hath he seene peruersenesse in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shoute of a King is among them.
GenevaHee seeth none iniquitie in Iaakob, nor seeth no transgression in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the ioyfull shoute of a king is among them.
לֹֽא הִבִּ֥יט אָ֨וֶן֙ בְּ/יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְ/לֹא רָאָ֥ה עָמָ֖ל בְּ/יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהָי/ו֙ עִמּ֔/וֹ וּ/תְרוּעַ֥ת מֶ֖לֶךְ בּֽ/וֹ
God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an Unicorne.
GenevaGod brought them out of Egypt: their strength is as an vnicorne.
אֵ֖ל מוֹצִיאָ֣/ם מִ/מִּצְרָ֑יִם כְּ/תוֹעֲפֹ֥ת רְאֵ֖ם לֽ/וֹ
Surely there is no inchantment against Iacob, neither is there any diuination against Israel: according to this time it shalbe said of Iacob, and of Israel, What hath God wrought!
GenevaFor there is no sorcerie in Iaakob, nor soothsaying in Israel: according to this time it shalbe sayde of Iaakob and of Israel, What hath God wrought?
כִּ֤י לֹא נַ֨חַשׁ֙ בְּ/יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְ/לֹא קֶ֖סֶם בְּ/יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כָּ/עֵ֗ת יֵאָמֵ֤ר לְ/יַעֲקֹב֙ וּ/לְ/יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מַה פָּ֖עַל אֵֽל
Beholde, the people shall rise vp as a great Lion, and lift vp himselfe as a yong Lion: hee shall not lie downe vntill he eate of the pray, and drinke the blood of the slaine.

הֶן עָם֙ כְּ/לָבִ֣יא יָק֔וּם וְ/כַ/אֲרִ֖י יִתְנַשָּׂ֑א לֹ֤א יִשְׁכַּב֙ עַד יֹ֣אכַל טֶ֔רֶף וְ/דַם חֲלָלִ֖ים יִשְׁתֶּֽה
¶ And Balak said vnto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor blesse them at all.
GenevaThen Balak sayde vnto Balaam, Neither curse, nor blesse them at all.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר בָּלָק֙ אֶל בִּלְעָ֔ם גַּם קֹ֖ב לֹ֣א תִקֳּבֶ֑/נּוּ גַּם בָּרֵ֖ךְ לֹ֥א תְבָרֲכֶֽ/נּוּ
But Balaam answered, and said vnto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must doe?
GenevaBut Balaam answered, and saide vnto Balak, Tolde not I thee, saying, All that the Lord speaketh, that must I do?
וַ/יַּ֣עַן בִּלְעָ֔ם וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר אֶל בָּלָ֑ק הֲ/לֹ֗א דִּבַּ֤רְתִּי אֵלֶ֨י/ךָ֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֹת֥/וֹ אֶֽעֱשֶֽׂה
¶ And Balak saide vnto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee vnto another place, peraduenture it will please God, that thou mayest curse me them from thence.
GenevaAgaine Balak sayd vnto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I wil bring thee vnto another place, if so be it wil please God, that thou mayest thence curse them for my sake.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר בָּלָק֙ אֶל בִּלְעָ֔ם לְכָ/ה נָּא֙ אֶקָּ֣חֲ/ךָ֔ אֶל מָק֖וֹם אַחֵ֑ר אוּלַ֤י יִישַׁר֙ בְּ/עֵינֵ֣י הָ/אֱלֹהִ֔ים וְ/קַבֹּ֥ת/וֹ לִ֖/י מִ/שָּֽׁם
And Balak brought Balaam vnto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Ieshimon.

וַ/יִּקַּ֥ח בָּלָ֖ק אֶת בִּלְעָ֑ם רֹ֣אשׁ הַ/פְּע֔וֹר הַ/נִּשְׁקָ֖ף עַל פְּנֵ֥י הַ/יְשִׁימֹֽן
