Numbers 20
Then came the children of Israel, euen the whole Congregation, into the desert of Zin, in the first moneth: and the people abode in Kadesh, and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
GenevaThen the children of Israel came with ye whole Congregation to the desert of Zin in the first moneth, and the people abode at Cadesh: where Miriam died, and was buried there.
וַ/יָּבֹ֣אוּ בְנֵֽי יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל כָּל הָ֨/עֵדָ֤ה מִדְבַּר צִן֙ בַּ/חֹ֣דֶשׁ הָֽ/רִאשׁ֔וֹן וַ/יֵּ֥שֶׁב הָ/עָ֖ם בְּ/קָדֵ֑שׁ וַ/תָּ֤מָת שָׁם֙ מִרְיָ֔ם וַ/תִּקָּבֵ֖ר שָֽׁם
And there was no water for the Congregation: and they gathered themselues together against Moses and against Aaron.
GenevaBut there was no water for the Congregation, and they assembled them selues against Moses and against Aaron.
וְ/לֹא הָ֥יָה מַ֖יִם לָ/עֵדָ֑ה וַ/יִּקָּ֣הֲל֔וּ עַל מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְ/עַֽל אַהֲרֹֽן
And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD.

וַ/יָּ֥רֶב הָ/עָ֖ם עִם מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַ/יֹּאמְר֣וּ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר וְ/ל֥וּ גָוַ֛עְנוּ בִּ/גְוַ֥ע אַחֵ֖י/נוּ לִ/פְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה
And why haue yee brought vp the Congregation of the LORD into this wildernesse, that we and our cattell should die there?
GenevaWhy haue ye thus brought the Congregation of the Lord vnto his wildernesse, that both we, and our cattell should die there?
וְ/לָ/מָ֤ה הֲבֵאתֶם֙ אֶת קְהַ֣ל יְהוָ֔ה אֶל הַ/מִּדְבָּ֖ר הַ/זֶּ֑ה לָ/מ֣וּת שָׁ֔ם אֲנַ֖חְנוּ וּ/בְעִירֵֽ/נוּ
And wherefore haue ye made vs to come vp out of Egypt, to bring vs in vnto this euil place? it is no place of seed, or of figges, or vines, or of pomegranates, neither is there any water to drinke.
GenevaWherefore nowe haue yee made vs to come vp from Egypt, to bring vs into this miserable place, which is no place of seede, nor figges, nor vines, nor pomegranates? neither is there any water to drinke.
וְ/לָ/מָ֤ה הֶֽעֱלִיתֻ֨/נוּ֙ מִ/מִּצְרַ֔יִם לְ/הָבִ֣יא אֹתָ֔/נוּ אֶל הַ/מָּק֥וֹם הָ/רָ֖ע הַ/זֶּ֑ה לֹ֣א מְק֣וֹם זֶ֗רַע וּ/תְאֵנָ֤ה וְ/גֶ֨פֶן֙ וְ/רִמּ֔וֹן וּ/מַ֥יִם אַ֖יִן לִ/שְׁתּֽוֹת
And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly, vnto the doore of the Tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell vpon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared vnto them.

וַ/יָּבֹא֩ מֹשֶׁ֨ה וְ/אַהֲרֹ֜ן מִ/פְּנֵ֣י הַ/קָּהָ֗ל אֶל פֶּ֨תַח֙ אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד וַֽ/יִּפְּל֖וּ עַל פְּנֵי/הֶ֑ם וַ/יֵּרָ֥א כְבוֹד יְהוָ֖ה אֲלֵי/הֶֽם
¶ And the LORD spake vnto Moses, saying,

וַ/יְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּ/אמֹֽר
Take the rodde, and gather thou the assembly together, thou and Aaron thy brother, and speake yee vnto the rocke before their eyes, and it shall giue foorth his water, and thou shalt bring foorth to them, water out of the rocke: so thou shalt giue the Congregation, and their beasts drinke.

קַ֣ח אֶת הַ/מַּטֶּ֗ה וְ/הַקְהֵ֤ל אֶת הָ/עֵדָה֙ אַתָּה֙ וְ/אַהֲרֹ֣ן אָחִ֔י/ךָ וְ/דִבַּרְתֶּ֧ם אֶל הַ/סֶּ֛לַע לְ/עֵינֵי/הֶ֖ם וְ/נָתַ֣ן מֵימָ֑י/ו וְ/הוֹצֵאתָ֨ לָ/הֶ֥ם מַ֨יִם֙ מִן הַ/סֶּ֔לַע וְ/הִשְׁקִיתָ֥ אֶת הָ/עֵדָ֖ה וְ/אֶת בְּעִירָֽ/ם
And Moses tooke the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.

וַ/יִּקַּ֥ח מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת הַ/מַּטֶּ֖ה מִ/לִּ/פְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּֽ/הוּ
And Moses and Aaron gathered the Congregation together before the rocke, and hee said vnto them, Heare now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rocke?
GenevaAnd Moses and Aaron gathered the Congregation together before the rocke, and Moses sayd vnto them, Heare nowe, ye rebels: shall we bring you water out of this rocke?
וַ/יַּקְהִ֜לוּ מֹשֶׁ֧ה וְ/אַהֲרֹ֛ן אֶת הַ/קָּהָ֖ל אֶל פְּנֵ֣י הַ/סָּ֑לַע וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר לָ/הֶ֗ם שִׁמְעוּ נָא֙ הַ/מֹּרִ֔ים הֲ/מִן הַ/סֶּ֣לַע הַ/זֶּ֔ה נוֹצִ֥יא לָ/כֶ֖ם מָֽיִם
And Moses lift vp his hand, and with his rod he smote the rocke twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the Congregation dranke, and their beasts also.
GenevaThen Moses lift vp his hande, and with his rod he smote the rocke twise, and the water came out aboundantly: so the Congregation, and their beastes dranke.
וַ/יָּ֨רֶם מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶת יָד֗/וֹ וַ/יַּ֧ךְ אֶת הַ/סֶּ֛לַע בְּ/מַטֵּ֖/הוּ פַּעֲמָ֑יִם וַ/יֵּצְאוּ֙ מַ֣יִם רַבִּ֔ים וַ/תֵּ֥שְׁתְּ הָ/עֵדָ֖ה וּ/בְעִירָֽ/ם
¶ And the LORD spake vnto Moses and Aaron, Because ye beleeue me not, to sanctifie me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this Congregation into the land which I haue giuen them.
GenevaAgaine the Lord spake vnto Moses, and to Aaron, Because ye beleeued me not, to sanctifie mee in the presence of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this Congregation into the land which I haue giuen them.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָה֮ אֶל מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְ/אֶֽל אַהֲרֹן֒ יַ֚עַן לֹא הֶאֱמַנְתֶּ֣ם בִּ֔/י לְ/הַ֨קְדִּישֵׁ֔/נִי לְ/עֵינֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לָ/כֵ֗ן לֹ֤א תָבִ֨יאוּ֙ אֶת הַ/קָּהָ֣ל הַ/זֶּ֔ה אֶל הָ/אָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר נָתַ֥תִּי לָ/הֶֽם
This is the water of Meribah, because the children of Israel stroue with the LORD; and he was sanctified in them.

הֵ֚מָּה מֵ֣י מְרִיבָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר רָב֥וּ בְנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶת יְהוָ֑ה וַ/יִּקָּדֵ֖שׁ בָּֽ/ם
¶ And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh, vnto the King of Edom; Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the trauaile that hath befallen vs:
GenevaThen Moses sent messengers from Kadesh vnto the king of Edom, saying, Thus sayth thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the trauaile that we haue had,
וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֨ח מֹשֶׁ֧ה מַלְאָכִ֛ים מִ/קָּדֵ֖שׁ אֶל מֶ֣לֶךְ אֱד֑וֹם כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אָחִ֣י/ךָ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אַתָּ֣ה יָדַ֔עְתָּ אֵ֥ת כָּל הַ/תְּלָאָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר מְצָאָֽתְ/נוּ
How our fathers went downe into Egypt, and we haue dwelt in Egypt a long time: and the Egyptians vexed vs, and our fathers.

וַ/יֵּרְד֤וּ אֲבֹתֵ֨י/נוּ֙ מִצְרַ֔יְמָ/ה וַ/נֵּ֥שֶׁב בְּ/מִצְרַ֖יִם יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים וַ/יָּרֵ֥עוּ לָ֛/נוּ מִצְרַ֖יִם וְ/לַ/אֲבֹתֵֽי/נוּ
And when wee cryed vnto the LORD, he heard our voyce, and sent an Angel, and hath brought vs foorth out of Egypt: and behold, wee are in Kadesh, a citie in the vttermost of thy border.

וַ/נִּצְעַ֤ק אֶל יְהוָה֙ וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֣ע קֹלֵ֔/נוּ וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֣ח מַלְאָ֔ךְ וַ/יֹּצִאֵ֖/נוּ מִ/מִּצְרָ֑יִם וְ/הִנֵּה֙ אֲנַ֣חְנוּ בְ/קָדֵ֔שׁ עִ֖יר קְצֵ֥ה גְבוּלֶֽ/ךָ
Let vs passe, I pray thee, thorow thy countrey: we will not passe thorow the fields, or thorow the Uineyards, neither will we drinke of the water of the wells: wee will goe by the Kings high-way, we wil not turne to the right hand nor to the left, vntill wee haue passed thy borders.
GenevaI pray thee that we may passe through thy countrey: we will not goe through the fieldes nor the vineyardes, neither will we drinke of the water of the welles: we will goe by the kings way, and neither turne vnto the right hand nor to the left, vntill we be past thy borders.
נַעְבְּרָה נָּ֣א בְ/אַרְצֶ֗/ךָ לֹ֤א נַעֲבֹר֙ בְּ/שָׂדֶ֣ה וּ/בְ/כֶ֔רֶם וְ/לֹ֥א נִשְׁתֶּ֖ה מֵ֣י בְאֵ֑ר דֶּ֧רֶךְ הַ/מֶּ֣לֶךְ נֵלֵ֗ךְ לֹ֤א נִטֶּה֙ יָמִ֣ין וּ/שְׂמֹ֔אול עַ֥ד אֲשֶֽׁר נַעֲבֹ֖ר גְּבוּלֶֽ/ךָ
And Edom said vnto him, Thou shalt not passe by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.
GenevaAnd Edom answered him, Thou shalt not passe by mee, least I come out against thee with the sword.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָי/ו֙ אֱד֔וֹם לֹ֥א תַעֲבֹ֖ר בִּ֑/י פֶּן בַּ/חֶ֖רֶב אֵצֵ֥א לִ/קְרָאתֶֽ/ךָ
And the children of Israel said vnto him, We will goe by the high-way: and if I and my cattell drinke of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will onely (without doing any thing else) go thorow on my feet.
GenevaThen the children of Israel said vnto him, We will goe vp by the hie way: and if I and my cattell drinke of thy water, I will then pay for it: I will onely (without any harme) goe through on my feete.
וַ/יֹּאמְר֨וּ אֵלָ֥י/ו בְּנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֘ל בַּֽ/מְסִלָּ֣ה נַעֲלֶה֒ וְ/אִם מֵימֶ֤י/ךָ נִשְׁתֶּה֙ אֲנִ֣י וּ/מִקְנַ֔/י וְ/נָתַתִּ֖י מִכְרָ֑/ם רַ֥ק אֵין דָּבָ֖ר בְּ/רַגְלַ֥/י אֶֽעֱבֹֽרָה
And he said, Thou shalt not goe thorow. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.
GenevaHee answered againe, Thou shalt not goe through. The Edom came out against him with much people, and with a mightie power.
וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר לֹ֣א תַעֲבֹ֑ר וַ/יֵּצֵ֤א אֱדוֹם֙ לִ/קְרָאת֔/וֹ בְּ/עַ֥ם כָּבֵ֖ד וּ/בְ/יָ֥ד חֲזָקָֽה
Thus Edom refused to giue Israel passage thorow his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.
GenevaThus Edom denyed to giue Israel passage through his countrey: wherefore Israel turned away from him.
וַ/יְמָאֵ֣ן אֱד֗וֹם נְתֹן֙ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עֲבֹ֖ר בִּ/גְבֻל֑/וֹ וַ/יֵּ֥ט יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵ/עָלָֽי/ו
¶ And the children of Israel, euen the whole Congregation, iourneyed from Kadesh, and came vnto mount Hor.
GenevaAnd when the children of Israel with al the Congregation departed from Kadesh, they came vnto the mount Hor.
וַ/יִּסְע֖וּ מִ/קָּדֵ֑שׁ וַ/יָּבֹ֧אוּ בְנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל כָּל הָ/עֵדָ֖ה הֹ֥ר הָ/הָֽר
And the LORD spake vnto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying;
GenevaAnd the Lord spake vnto Moses and to Aaron in the mount Hor neere the coast of the land of Edom, saying,
וַ/יֹּ֧אמֶר יְהוָ֛ה אֶל מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְ/אֶֽל אַהֲרֹ֖ן בְּ/הֹ֣ר הָ/הָ֑ר עַל גְּב֥וּל אֶֽרֶץ אֱד֖וֹם לֵ/אמֹֽר
Aaron shall bee gathered vnto his people: for hee shall not enter into the land which I haue giuen vnto the children of Israel, because yee rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.
GenevaAaron shall be gathered vnto his people: for hee shall not enter into the lande, which I haue giuen vnto the children of Israel, because ye disobeyed my commandement at the water of Meribah.
יֵאָסֵ֤ף אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶל עַמָּ֔י/ו כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יָבֹא֙ אֶל הָ/אָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לִ/בְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל עַ֛ל אֲשֶׁר מְרִיתֶ֥ם אֶת פִּ֖/י לְ/מֵ֥י מְרִיבָֽה
Take Aaron, and Eleazar his sonne, and bring them vp vnto mount Hor.
GenevaTake Aaron and Eleazar his sonne, and bring them vp into the mount Hor,
קַ֚ח אֶֽת אַהֲרֹ֔ן וְ/אֶת אֶלְעָזָ֖ר בְּנ֑/וֹ וְ/הַ֥עַל אֹתָ֖/ם הֹ֥ר הָ/הָֽר
And strippe Aaron of his garments, and put them vpon Eleazar his sonne, and Aaron shall be gathered vnto his people, and shall die there.
GenevaAnd cause Aaron to put off his garmentes and put them vpon Eleazar his sonne: for Aaron shall be gathered to his fathers, and shall die there.
וְ/הַפְשֵׁ֤ט אֶֽת אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶת בְּגָדָ֔י/ו וְ/הִלְבַּשְׁתָּ֖/ם אֶת אֶלְעָזָ֣ר בְּנ֑/וֹ וְ/אַהֲרֹ֥ן יֵאָסֵ֖ף וּ/מֵ֥ת שָֽׁם
And Moses did as the LORD commaunded: and they went vp into mount Hor, in the sight of all the Congregation.
GenevaAnd Moses did as the Lord had commanded: and they went vp into the mount Hor, in the sight of all the Congregation.
וַ/יַּ֣עַשׂ מֹשֶׁ֔ה כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֣ה יְהוָ֑ה וַֽ/יַּעֲלוּ֙ אֶל הֹ֣ר הָ/הָ֔ר לְ/עֵינֵ֖י כָּל הָ/עֵדָֽה
And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them vpon Eleazar his sonne, and Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came downe from the mount.
GenevaAnd Moses put off Aarons clothes, and put them vpon Eleazar his sonne: so Aaron dyed there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came downe from off the mount.
וַ/יַּפְשֵׁט֩ מֹשֶׁ֨ה אֶֽת אַהֲרֹ֜ן אֶת בְּגָדָ֗י/ו וַ/יַּלְבֵּ֤שׁ אֹתָ/ם֙ אֶת אֶלְעָזָ֣ר בְּנ֔/וֹ וַ/יָּ֧מָת אַהֲרֹ֛ן שָׁ֖ם בְּ/רֹ֣אשׁ הָ/הָ֑ר וַ/יֵּ֧רֶד מֹשֶׁ֛ה וְ/אֶלְעָזָ֖ר מִן הָ/הָֽר
And when all the Congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty dayes, euen all the house of Israel.
GenevaWhen al the Congregation sawe that Aaron was dead, al the house of Israel wept for Aaron thirtie dayes.
וַ/יִּרְאוּ֙ כָּל הָ֣/עֵדָ֔ה כִּ֥י גָוַ֖ע אַהֲרֹ֑ן וַ/יִּבְכּ֤וּ אֶֽת אַהֲרֹן֙ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים י֔וֹם כֹּ֖ל בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
