Mark 3

And he entred againe into the Synagogue, and there was a man there which had a withered hand:

And they watched him, whether hee would heale him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him.

And he saith vnto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.

GenevaThen he saide vnto the man which had the withered hand, Arise: stand forth in the middes.

καὶ λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τῷ τὴν χεῖρα ἔχοντι ξηράν· Ἔγειρε εἰς τὸ μέσον.

And hee saith vnto them, Is it lawfull to doe good on the Sabbath dayes, or to doe euill? to saue life, or to kill? but they held their peace.

καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Ἔξεστιν τοῖς σάββασιν ἀγαθοποιῆσαι ἢ κακοποιῆσαι, ψυχὴν σῶσαι ἢ ἀποκτεῖναι; οἱ δὲ ἐσιώπων.

And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieued for the hardnesse of their hearts, He saith vnto the man, Stretch foorth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

GenevaThen hee looked rounde about on them angerly, mourning also for the hardnesse of their hearts, and saide to the man, Stretch foorth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hande was restored, as whole as the other.

καὶ περιβλεψάμενος αὐτοὺς μετ’ ὀργῆς, συλλυπούμενος ἐπὶ τῇ πωρώσει τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν, λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ· Ἔκτεινον τὴν χεῖρα· καὶ ἐξέτεινεν, καὶ ἀπεκατεστάθη ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ.

And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway tooke counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

GenevaAnd the Pharises departed, and straightway gathered a councill with the Herodians against him, that they might destroy him.

καὶ ἐξελθόντες οἱ Φαρισαῖοι εὐθὺς μετὰ τῶν Ἡρῳδιανῶν συμβούλιον ἐδίδουν κατ’ αὐτοῦ ὅπως αὐτὸν ἀπολέσωσιν.

But Iesus withdrew himselfe with his disciples to the Sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Iudea,

Καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ἀνεχώρησεν πρὸς τὴν θάλασσαν· καὶ πολὺ πλῆθος ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας ἠκολούθησεν, καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰουδαίας

And from Hierusalem, and from Idumea, and from beyond Iordane, and they about Tyre & Sydon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came vnto him.

GenevaAnd from Ierusalem, and from Idumea, and beyonde Iordan: and they that dwelled about Tyrus and Sidon, when they had heard what great things he did, came vnto him in great number.

καὶ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰδουμαίας καὶ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου καὶ περὶ Τύρον καὶ Σιδῶνα, πλῆθος πολύ, ἀκούοντες ὅσα ἐποίει ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτόν.

And he spake to his disciples that a small ship should wait on him, because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.

GenevaAnd he commanded his disciples, that a litle shippe should waite for him, because of the multitude, lest they shoulde throng him.

καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ἵνα πλοιάριον προσκαρτερῇ αὐτῷ διὰ τὸν ὄχλον ἵνα μὴ θλίβωσιν αὐτόν·

For he had healed many, insomuch that they preassed vpon him, for to touch him, as many as had plagues.

GenevaFor hee had healed many, in so much that they preassed vpon him to touch him, as many as had plagues.

πολλοὺς γὰρ ἐθεράπευσεν, ὥστε ἐπιπίπτειν αὐτῷ ἵνα αὐτοῦ ἅψωνται ὅσοι εἶχον μάστιγας.

And vncleane spirits, when they saw him, fell downe before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Sonne of God.

GenevaAnd when the vncleane spirits sawe him, they fel downe before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Sonne of God.

καὶ τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα, ὅταν αὐτὸν ἐθεώρουν, προσέπιπτον αὐτῷ καὶ ἔκραζον λέγοντα ὅτι Σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ.

And he straitly charged them, that they should not make him knowen.

GenevaAnd he sharply rebuked them, to the ende they should not vtter him.

καὶ πολλὰ ἐπετίμα αὐτοῖς ἵνα μὴ αὐτὸν φανερὸν ποιήσωσιν.

And he goeth vp into a mountaine, and calleth vnto him whom he would: and they came vnto him.

GenevaThen hee went vp into a mountaine, and called vnto him whome he woulde, and they came vnto him.

Καὶ ἀναβαίνει εἰς τὸ ὄρος καὶ προσκαλεῖται οὓς ἤθελεν αὐτός, καὶ ἀπῆλθον πρὸς αὐτόν.

And he ordeined twelue, that they should be with him, and that hee might send them foorth to preach:

GenevaAnd hee appoynted twelue that they should be with him, and that he might send them to preache,

καὶ ἐποίησεν δώδεκα, ἵνα ὦσιν μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἵνα ἀποστέλλῃ αὐτοὺς κηρύσσειν

And to haue power to heale sickenesses, and to cast out deuils.

GenevaAnd that they might haue power to heale sicknesses, and to cast out deuils.

καὶ ἔχειν ἐξουσίαν ἐκβάλλειν τὰ δαιμόνια·

And Simon he surnamed Peter.

GenevaAnd the first was Simon, and hee named Simon, Peter,

καὶ ἐποίησεν τοὺς δώδεκα, καὶ ἐπέθηκεν ὄνομα τῷ Σίμωνι Πέτρον,

And Iames the sonne of Zebedee, and Iohn the brother of Iames (and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sonnes of thunder.)

And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and Iames the sonne of Alpheus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Canaanite,

καὶ Ἀνδρέαν καὶ Φίλιππον καὶ Βαρθολομαῖον καὶ Μαθθαῖον καὶ Θωμᾶν καὶ Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ἁλφαίου καὶ Θαδδαῖον καὶ Σίμωνα τὸν Καναναῖον

And Iudas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.

GenevaAnd Iudas Iscariot, who also betraied him, and they came home.

καὶ Ἰούδαν Ἰσκαριώθ, ὃς καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτόν.

And the multitude commeth together againe, so that they could not so much as eate bread.

GenevaAnd the multitude assembled againe, so that they could not so much as eate bread.

Καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς οἶκον· καὶ συνέρχεται πάλιν ὁ ὄχλος, ὥστε μὴ δύνασθαι αὐτοὺς μηδὲ ἄρτον φαγεῖν.

And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him, for they said, He is beside himselfe.

GenevaAnd when his kinsfolkes heard of it, they went out to laie hold on him: for they sayde that he was beside himselfe.

καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ παρ’ αὐτοῦ ἐξῆλθον κρατῆσαι αὐτόν, ἔλεγον γὰρ ὅτι ἐξέστη.

¶ And the Scribes which came downe from Hierusalem, said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the deuils, casteth he out deuils.

GenevaAnd the Scribes which came downe from Hierusalem, saide, He hath Beelzebub, and through the prince of the deuils he casteth out deuils.

καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς οἱ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καταβάντες ἔλεγον ὅτι Βεελζεβοὺλ ἔχει καὶ ὅτι ἐν τῷ ἄρχοντι τῶν δαιμονίων ἐκβάλλει τὰ δαιμόνια.

And he called them vnto him, and said vnto them in parables, Howe can Satan cast out Satan?

GenevaBut he called them vnto him, and said vnto them in parables, How can Satan driue out Satan?

καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτοὺς ἐν παραβολαῖς ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Πῶς δύναται Σατανᾶς Σατανᾶν ἐκβάλλειν;

And if a kingdome be diuided against it selfe, that kingdome cannot stand.

GenevaFor if a kingdome bee deuided against it selfe, that kingdome can not stand.

καὶ ἐὰν βασιλεία ἐφ’ ἑαυτὴν μερισθῇ, οὐ δύναται σταθῆναι ἡ βασιλεία ἐκείνη·

And if a house be diuided against it selfe, that house cannot stand.

GenevaOr if a house bee deuided against it selfe, that house can not continue.

καὶ ἐὰν οἰκία ἐφ’ ἑαυτὴν μερισθῇ, οὐ δυνήσεται ἡ οἰκία ἐκείνη σταθῆναι·

And if Satan rise vp against himselfe, and be diuided, hee cannot stand, but hath an end.

GenevaSo if Satan make insurrection against himselfe, and be deuided, hee can not endure but is at an ende.

καὶ εἰ ὁ Σατανᾶς ἀνέστη ἐφ’ ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἐμερίσθη, οὐ δύναται στῆναι ἀλλὰ τέλος ἔχει.

No man can enter into a strong mans house, and spoile his goods, except he will first bind the strong man, and then he will spoile his house.

GenevaNo man can enter into a strong mans house, and take away his goods, except hee first binde that strong man, and then spoyle his house.

ἀλλ’ οὐδεὶς δύναται εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν τοῦ ἰσχυροῦ εἰσελθὼν τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ διαρπάσαι ἐὰν μὴ πρῶτον τὸν ἰσχυρὸν δήσῃ, καὶ τότε τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ διαρπάσει.

Uerely I say vnto you, All sinnes shalbe forgiuen vnto the sonnes of men, and blasphemies, wherewith soeuer they shall blaspheme:

Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πάντα ἀφεθήσεται τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν ἀνθρώπων, τὰ ἁμαρτήματα καὶ αἱ βλασφημίαι ὅσα ἐὰν βλασφημήσωσιν·

But he that shal blaspheme against the holy Ghost, hath neuer forgiuenesse, but is in danger of eternall damnation.

GenevaBut hee that blasphemeth against the holy Ghost, shall neuer haue forgiuenesse, but is culpable of eternall damnation.

ὃς δ’ ἂν βλασφημήσῃ εἰς τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον, οὐκ ἔχει ἄφεσιν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, ἀλλὰ ἔνοχός ἐστιν αἰωνίου ἁμαρτήματος.

Because they said, He hath an vncleane spirit.

GenevaBecause they saide, Hee had an vncleane spirit.

ὅτι ἔλεγον· Πνεῦμα ἀκάθαρτον ἔχει.

¶ There came then his brethren, and his mother, and standing without, sent vnto him, calling him.

GenevaThen came his brethren and mother, and stoode without, and sent vnto him, and called him.

Καὶ ἔρχονται ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔξω στήκοντες ἀπέστειλαν πρὸς αὐτὸν καλοῦντες αὐτόν.

And the multitude sate about him and they said vnto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seeke for thee.

GenevaAnd the people sate about him, and they said vnto him, Beholde, thy mother, and thy brethren seeke for thee without.

καὶ ἐκάθητο περὶ αὐτὸν ὄχλος, καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἔξω ζητοῦσίν σε.

And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?

GenevaBut hee answered them, saying, Who is my mother and my brethren?

καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς αὐτοῖς λέγει· Τίς ἐστιν ἡ μήτηρ μου ἢ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου;

And he looked round about on them which sate about him, and saide, Behold my mother and my brethren.

GenevaAnd hee looked rounde about on them, which sate in compasse about him, and saide, Beholde my mother and my brethren.

καὶ περιβλεψάμενος τοὺς περὶ αὐτὸν κύκλῳ καθημένους λέγει· Ἴδε ἡ μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου·

For whosoeuer shall doe the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

GenevaFor whosoeuer doeth the will of God, he is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

ὃς γὰρ ἂν ποιήσῃ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ θεοῦ, οὗτος ἀδελφός μου καὶ ἀδελφὴ καὶ μήτηρ ἐστίν.
