Job 11

Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

וַ֭/יַּעַן צֹפַ֥ר הַֽ/נַּעֲמָתִ֗י וַ/יֹּאמַֽר

Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should man ful of talke be iustified?

GenevaShould not the multitude of wordes be answered? or should a great talker be iustified?

הֲ/רֹ֣ב דְּ֭בָרִים לֹ֣א יֵעָנֶ֑ה וְ/אִם אִ֖ישׁ שְׂפָתַ֣יִם יִצְדָּֽק

Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?

GenevaShould men holde their peace at thy lyes? and when thou mockest others, shall none make thee ashamed?

בַּ֭דֶּי/ךָ מְתִ֣ים יַחֲרִ֑ישׁו וַ֝/תִּלְעַ֗ג וְ/אֵ֣ין מַכְלִֽם

For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am cleane in thine eyes.

GenevaFor thou hast sayde, My doctrine is pure, and I am cleane in thine eyes.

וַ֭/תֹּאמֶר זַ֣ךְ לִקְחִ֑/י וּ֝/בַ֗ר הָיִ֥יתִי בְ/עֵינֶֽי/ךָ

But, O that God would speake, and open his lippes against thee,

GenevaBut, oh that God would speake and open his lippes against thee!

וְֽ/אוּלָ֗ם מִֽי יִתֵּ֣ן אֱל֣וֹהַּ דַּבֵּ֑ר וְ/יִפְתַּ֖ח שְׂפָתָ֣י/ו עִמָּֽ/ךְ

And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisedome, that they are double to that which is: know therefore that God exacteth of thee lesse then thine iniquitie deserueth.

GenevaThat he might shewe thee the secretes of wisedome, howe thou hast deserued double, according to right: know therefore that God hath forgotten thee for thine iniquitie.

וְ/יַגֶּד לְ/ךָ֨ תַּֽעֲלֻמ֣וֹת חָכְמָה֮ כִּֽי כִפְלַ֪יִם לְֽ/ת֫וּשִׁיָּ֥ה וְ/דַ֡ע כִּֽי יַשֶּׁ֥ה לְ/ךָ֥ אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַ מֵ/עֲוֺנֶֽ/ךָ

Canst thou by searching finde out God? canst thou finde out the Almightie vnto perfection?

GenevaCanst thou by searching finde out God? canst thou finde out ye Almighty to his perfection?

הַ/חֵ֣קֶר אֱל֣וֹהַ תִּמְצָ֑א אִ֤ם עַד תַּכְלִ֖ית שַׁדַּ֣י תִּמְצָֽא

It is as high as heauen, what canst thou doe? deeper then hell, what canst thou know?

GenevaThe heauens are hie, what canst thou doe? it is deeper then the hell, how canst thou know it?

גָּבְהֵ֣י שָׁ֭מַיִם מַה תִּפְעָ֑ל עֲמֻקָּ֥ה מִ֝/שְּׁא֗וֹל מַה תֵּדָֽע

The measure therof is longer then the earth, and broader then the sea.

GenevaThe measure thereof is longer then the earth, and it is broader then the sea.

אֲרֻכָּ֣ה מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִדָּ֑/הּ וּ֝/רְחָבָ֗ה מִנִּי יָֽם

If he cut off, and shut vp, or gather together, then who can hinder him?

GenevaIf hee cut off and shut vp, or gather together, who can turne him backe?

אִם יַחֲלֹ֥ף וְ/יַסְגִּ֑יר וְ֝/יַקְהִ֗יל וּ/מִ֣י יְשִׁיבֶֽ/נּוּ

For, he knoweth vaine men: hee seeth wickednesse also, will he not then consider it?

GenevaFor hee knoweth vaine men, and seeth iniquitie, and him that vnderstandeth nothing.

כִּי ה֭וּא יָדַ֣ע מְתֵי שָׁ֑וְא וַ/יַּרְא אָ֝֗וֶן וְ/לֹ֣א יִתְבּוֹנָֽן

For vaine man would be wise; though man be borne like a wilde asses coult.

GenevaYet vaine man would be wise, though man new borne is like a wilde asse colte.

וְ/אִ֣ישׁ נָ֭בוּב יִלָּבֵ֑ב וְ/עַ֥יִר פֶּ֝֗רֶא אָדָ֥ם יִוָּלֵֽד

If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him:

GenevaIf thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him:

אִם אַ֭תָּ֗ה הֲכִינ֣וֹתָ לִבֶּ֑/ךָ וּ/פָרַשְׂתָּ֖ אֵלָ֣י/ו כַּפֶּֽ/ךָ

If iniquitie be in thine hand, put it farre away, and let not wickednes dwell in thy tabernacles.

GenevaIf iniquitie be in thine hand, put it farre away, and let no wickednesse dwell in thy Tabernacle.

אִם אָ֣וֶן בְּ֭/יָדְ/ךָ הַרְחִיקֵ֑/הוּ וְ/אַל תַּשְׁכֵּ֖ן בְּ/אֹהָלֶ֣י/ךָ עַוְלָֽה

For then shalt thou lift vp thy face without spot, yea thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not feare:

GenevaThe truely shalt thou lift vp thy face without spot, and shalt be stable, and shalt not feare.

כִּי אָ֤ז תִּשָּׂ֣א פָנֶ֣י/ךָ מִ/מּ֑וּם וְ/הָיִ֥יתָ מֻ֝צָ֗ק וְ/לֹ֣א תִירָֽא

Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that passe away:

GenevaBut thou shalt forget thy miserie, and remember it as waters that are past.

כִּי אַ֭תָּה עָמָ֣ל תִּשְׁכָּ֑ח כְּ/מַ֖יִם עָבְר֣וּ תִזְכֹּֽר

And thine age shalbe clearer then the noone day; thou shalt shine foorth, thou shalt be as the morning.

GenevaThine age also shall appeare more cleare then the noone day: thou shalt shine and bee as the morning.

וּֽ֭/מִ/צָּהֳרַיִם יָק֣וּם חָ֑לֶד תָּ֝עֻ֗פָ/ה כַּ/בֹּ֥קֶר תִּהְיֶֽה

And thou shalt be secure because there is hope, yea thou shalt digge about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.

GenevaAnd thou shalt bee bolde, because there is hope: and thou shalt digge pittes, and shalt lye downe safely.

וּֽ֭/בָטַחְתָּ כִּי יֵ֣שׁ תִּקְוָ֑ה וְ֝/חָפַרְתָּ֗ לָ/בֶ֥טַח תִּשְׁכָּֽב

Also thou shalt lye downe, and none shall make thee afraid; yea many shall make suite vnto thee.

GenevaFor when thou takest thy rest, none shall make thee afraide: yea, many shall make sute vnto thee.

וְֽ֭/רָבַצְתָּ וְ/אֵ֣ין מַחֲרִ֑יד וְ/חִלּ֖וּ פָנֶ֣י/ךָ רַבִּֽים

But the eyes of the wicked shall faile, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giuing vp of the ghost.

GenevaBut the eyes of the wicked shall faile, and their refuge shall perish, and their hope shalbe sorow of minde.

וְ/עֵינֵ֥י רְשָׁעִ֗ים תִּ֫כְלֶ֥ינָה וּ֭/מָנוֹס אָבַ֣ד מִנְ/הֶ֑ם וְ֝/תִקְוָתָ֗/ם מַֽפַּח נָֽפֶשׁ
