Chapter 25
Isaiah 25
O LORD, thou art my God, I will exalt thee, I will praise thy Name; for thou hast done wonderfull things; thy counsels of old are faithfulnesse and trueth.
GenevaO Lord, thou art my God: I will exalt thee, I will prayse thy Name: for thou hast done wonderfull things, according to the counsels of old, with a stable trueth.
יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהַ/י֙ אַתָּ֔ה אֲרֽוֹמִמְ/ךָ֙ אוֹדֶ֣ה שִׁמְ/ךָ֔ כִּ֥י עָשִׂ֖יתָ פֶּ֑לֶא עֵצ֥וֹת מֵֽ/רָח֖וֹק אֱמ֥וּנָה אֹֽמֶן
For thou hast made of a citie, an heape; of a defenced city, a ruine: a palace of strangers, to be no citie, it shall neuer be built.
GenevaFor thou hast made of a citie an heape, of a strong citie, a ruine: euen the palace of strangers of a citie, it shall neuer be built.
כִּ֣י שַׂ֤מְתָּ מֵ/עִיר֙ לַ/גָּ֔ל קִרְיָ֥ה בְצוּרָ֖ה לְ/מַפֵּלָ֑ה אַרְמ֤וֹן זָרִים֙ מֵ/עִ֔יר לְ/עוֹלָ֖ם לֹ֥א יִבָּנֶֽה
Therefore shall the strong people glorifie thee, the city of the terrible nations shall feare thee.
GenevaTherefore shall the mightie people giue glory vnto thee: the citie of the strong nations shall feare thee.
עַל כֵּ֖ן יְכַבְּד֣וּ/ךָ עַם עָ֑ז קִרְיַ֛ת גּוֹיִ֥ם עָרִיצִ֖ים יִירָאֽוּ/ךָ
For thou hast bene a strength to the poore, a strength to the needy in his distresse, a refuge from the storme, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storme against the wall.
GenevaFor thou hast bene a strength vnto the poore, euen a strength to the needie in his trouble, a refuge against the tempest, a shadow against the heate: for the blaste of the mightie is like a storme against the wall.
כִּֽי הָיִ֨יתָ מָע֥וֹז לַ/דָּ֛ל מָע֥וֹז לָ/אֶבְי֖וֹן בַּ/צַּר ל֑/וֹ מַחְסֶ֤ה מִ/זֶּ֨רֶם֙ צֵ֣ל מֵ/חֹ֔רֶב כִּ֛י ר֥וּחַ עָרִיצִ֖ים כְּ/זֶ֥רֶם קִֽיר
Thou shalt bring downe the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; euen the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shalbe brought low.
GenevaThou shalt bring downe the noyse of the strangers, as the heate in a drie place: he wil bring downe the song of the mightie, as the heate in the shadowe of a cloude.
כְּ/חֹ֣רֶב בְּ/צָי֔וֹן שְׁא֥וֹן זָרִ֖ים תַּכְנִ֑יעַ חֹ֚רֶב בְּ/צֵ֣ל עָ֔ב זְמִ֥יר עָֽרִיצִ֖ים יַעֲנֶֽה
¶ And in this mountaine shall the LORD of hostes make vnto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.
GenevaAnd in this mountaine shall the Lord of hostes make vnto all people a feast of fat thinges, euen a feast of fined wines, and of fat thinges full of marow, of wines fined and purified.
וְ/עָשָׂה֩ יְהוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת לְ/כָל הָֽ/עַמִּים֙ בָּ/הָ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֔ה מִשְׁתֵּ֥ה שְׁמָנִ֖ים מִשְׁתֵּ֣ה שְׁמָרִ֑ים שְׁמָנִים֙ מְמֻ֣חָיִ֔ם שְׁמָרִ֖ים מְזֻקָּקִֽים
And he wil destroy in this mountaine the face of the couering cast ouer all people, and the vaile that is spread ouer all nations.
GenevaAnd he will destroy in this mountaine the couering that couereth all people, and the vaile that is spread vpon all nations.
וּ/בִלַּע֙ בָּ/הָ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֔ה פְּנֵֽי הַ/לּ֥וֹט הַ/לּ֖וֹט עַל כָּל הָֽ/עַמִּ֑ים וְ/הַ/מַּסֵּכָ֥ה הַ/נְּסוּכָ֖ה עַל כָּל הַ/גּוֹיִֽם
He will swallow vp death in victorie, and the Lord GOD wil wipe away teares from off al faces, and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
GenevaHe wil destroy death for euer: and the Lord God wil wipe away the teares from all faces, and the rebuke of his people will he take away out of all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.
בִּלַּ֤ע הַ/מָּ֨וֶת֙ לָ/נֶ֔צַח וּ/מָחָ֨ה אֲדֹנָ֧/י יְהוִ֛ה דִּמְעָ֖ה מֵ/עַ֣ל כָּל פָּנִ֑ים וְ/חֶרְפַּ֣ת עַמּ֗/וֹ יָסִיר֙ מֵ/עַ֣ל כָּל הָ/אָ֔רֶץ כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר
¶ And it shalbe said in that day, Loe, this is our God, we haue waited for him, and he will saue vs: this is the LORD, we haue waited for him, we wil be glad, and reioyce in his saluation.
GenevaAnd in that day shall men say, Loe, this is our God: we haue waited for him, and he wil saue vs. This is the Lord, we haue waited for him: we will reioyce and be ioyfull in his saluation.
וְ/אָמַר֙ בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֔וּא הִנֵּ֨ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י/נוּ זֶ֛ה קִוִּ֥ינוּ ל֖/וֹ וְ/יֽוֹשִׁיעֵ֑/נוּ זֶ֤ה יְהוָה֙ קִוִּ֣ינוּ ל֔/וֹ נָגִ֥ילָה וְ/נִשְׂמְחָ֖ה בִּ/ישׁוּעָתֽ/וֹ
For in this mountaine shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shalbe troden downe vnder him, euen as straw is troden downe for the dounghill.
GenevaFor in this mountaine shall the hand of the Lord rest, and Moab shalbe threshed vnder him, euen as strawe is thresshed in Madmenah.
כִּֽי תָנ֥וּחַ יַד יְהוָ֖ה בָּ/הָ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֑ה וְ/נָ֤דוֹשׁ מוֹאָב֙ תַּחְתָּ֔י/ו כְּ/הִדּ֥וּשׁ מַתְבֵּ֖ן ב/מי מַדְמֵנָֽה
And hee shall spread foorth his hands in the midst of them, as hee that swimmeth spreadeth foorth his hands to swimme: and hee shall bring downe their pride together with the spoiles of their hands.
GenevaAnd he shall stretche out his hande in the middes of them (as he that swimmeth, stretcheth them out to swimme) and with the strength of his handes shall he bring downe their pride.
וּ/פֵרַ֤שׂ יָדָי/ו֙ בְּ/קִרְבּ֔/וֹ כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֛ר יְפָרֵ֥שׂ הַ/שֹּׂחֶ֖ה לִ/שְׂח֑וֹת וְ/הִשְׁפִּיל֙ גַּֽאֲוָת֔/וֹ עִ֖ם אָרְבּ֥וֹת יָדָֽי/ו
And the fortresse of the high fort of thy walles shall hee bring downe, lay low, and bring to the ground, euen to the dust.
GenevaThe defence also of the height of thy walles shall he bring downe and lay lowe, and cast them to the ground, euen vnto the dust.
וּ/מִבְצַ֞ר מִשְׂגַּ֣ב חוֹמֹתֶ֗י/ךָ הֵשַׁ֥ח הִשְׁפִּ֛יל הִגִּ֥יעַ לָ/אָ֖רֶץ עַד עָפָֽר
