Hosea 10
Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruite vnto himselfe: according to the multitude of his fruite, he hath increased the altars, according to the goodnesse of his land, they haue made goodly images.
GenevaIsrael is a emptie vine, yet hath it brought foorth fruite vnto it selfe, and according to the multitude of the fruite thereof he hath increased the altars: according to the goodnesse of their lande they haue made faire images.
גֶּ֤פֶן בּוֹקֵק֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל פְּרִ֖י יְשַׁוֶּה לּ֑/וֹ כְּ/רֹ֣ב לְ/פִרְי֗/וֹ הִרְבָּה֙ לַֽ/מִּזְבְּח֔וֹת כְּ/ט֣וֹב לְ/אַרְצ֔/וֹ הֵיטִ֖יבוּ מַצֵּבֽוֹת
Their heart is diuided: now shall they be found faultie: hee shall breake downe their altars: he shall spoile their images.
GenevaTheir heart is deuided: nowe shall they be founde faultie: he shall breake downe their altars: he shall destroy their images.
חָלַ֥ק לִבָּ֖/ם עַתָּ֣ה יֶאְשָׁ֑מוּ ה֚וּא יַעֲרֹ֣ף מִזְבְּחוֹתָ֔/ם יְשֹׁדֵ֖ד מַצֵּבוֹתָֽ/ם
For now they shall say, We haue no King, because we feared not the LORD, What then should a King doe to vs?

כִּ֤י עַתָּה֙ יֹֽאמְר֔וּ אֵ֥ין מֶ֖לֶךְ לָ֑/נוּ כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יָרֵ֨אנוּ֙ אֶת יְהֹוָ֔ה וְ/הַ/מֶּ֖לֶךְ מַה יַּֽעֲשֶׂה לָּֽ/נוּ
They haue spoken words, swearing falsely in making a couenant: thus iudgement springeth vp as hemlocke in the furrowes of the field.

דִּבְּר֣וּ דְבָרִ֔ים אָל֥וֹת שָׁ֖וְא כָּרֹ֣ת בְּרִ֑ית וּ/פָרַ֤ח כָּ/רֹאשׁ֙ מִשְׁפָּ֔ט עַ֖ל תַּלְמֵ֥י שָׂדָֽי
The inhabitants of Samaria shall feare, because of the calues of Bethauen: for the people thereof shall mourne ouer it, and the priests thereof that reioyced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.

לְ/עֶגְלוֹת֙ בֵּ֣ית אָ֔וֶן יָג֖וּרוּ שְׁכַ֣ן שֹֽׁמְר֑וֹן כִּי אָבַ֨ל עָלָ֜י/ו עַמּ֗/וֹ וּ/כְמָרָי/ו֙ עָלָ֣י/ו יָגִ֔ילוּ עַל כְּבוֹד֖/וֹ כִּֽי גָלָ֥ה מִמֶּֽ/נּוּ
It shall be also caried vnto Assyria for a present to King Iareb: Ephraim shall receiue shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his owne counsell.

גַּם אוֹת/וֹ֙ לְ/אַשּׁ֣וּר יוּבָ֔ל מִנְחָ֖ה לְ/מֶ֣לֶךְ יָרֵ֑ב בָּשְׁנָה֙ אֶפְרַ֣יִם יִקָּ֔ח וְ/יֵב֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵ/עֲצָתֽ/וֹ
As for Samaria, her King is cut off as the fome vpon the water.

נִדְמֶ֥ה שֹׁמְר֖וֹן מַלְכָּ֑/הּ כְּ/קֶ֖צֶף עַל פְּנֵי מָֽיִם
The high places also of Auen, the sinne of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorne and the thistle shall come vp on their altars; and they shall say to the mountaines, Couer vs; and to the hilles, Fall on vs.

וְ/נִשְׁמְד֞וּ בָּמ֣וֹת אָ֗וֶן חַטַּאת֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל ק֣וֹץ וְ/דַרְדַּ֔ר יַעֲלֶ֖ה עַל מִזְבְּחוֹתָ֑/ם וְ/אָמְר֤וּ לֶֽ/הָרִים֙ כַּסּ֔וּ/נוּ וְ/לַ/גְּבָע֖וֹת נִפְל֥וּ עָלֵֽי/נוּ
O Israel, thou hast sinned from the dayes of Gibeah: there they stood: the battell in Gibeah against the children of iniquitie did not ouertake them.

מִ/ימֵי֙ הַ/גִּבְעָ֔ה חָטָ֖אתָ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל שָׁ֣ם עָמָ֔דוּ לֹֽא תַשִּׂיגֵ֧/ם בַּ/גִּבְעָ֛ה מִלְחָמָ֖ה עַל בְּנֵ֥י עַֽלְוָֽה
It is in my desire that I should chastise them, and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselues in their two furrowes.

And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught and loueth to tread out the corne, but I passed ouer vpon her faire necke: I will make Ephraim to ride: Iudah shall plow, and Iacob shall breake his clods.

וְ/אֶפְרַ֜יִם עֶגְלָ֤ה מְלֻמָּדָה֙ אֹהַ֣בְתִּי לָ/ד֔וּשׁ וַ/אֲנִ֣י עָבַ֔רְתִּי עַל ט֖וּב צַוָּארָ֑/הּ אַרְכִּ֤יב אֶפְרַ֨יִם֙ יַחֲר֣וֹשׁ יְהוּדָ֔ה יְשַׂדֶּד ל֖/וֹ יַעֲקֹֽב
Sow to your selues in righteousnesse, reape in mercie: breake vp your fallow ground: for it is time to seeke the LORD, till he come and raine righteousnesse vpon you.

זִרְע֨וּ לָ/כֶ֤ם לִ/צְדָקָה֙ קִצְר֣וּ לְ/פִי חֶ֔סֶד נִ֥ירוּ לָ/כֶ֖ם נִ֑יר וְ/עֵת֙ לִ/דְר֣וֹשׁ אֶת יְהוָ֔ה עַד יָב֕וֹא וְ/יֹרֶ֥ה צֶ֖דֶק לָ/כֶֽם
Ye haue plowed wickednesse, yee haue reaped iniquitie, ye haue eaten the fruite of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mightie men.

חֲרַשְׁתֶּם רֶ֛שַׁע עַוְלָ֥תָ/ה קְצַרְתֶּ֖ם אֲכַלְתֶּ֣ם פְּרִי כָ֑חַשׁ כִּֽי בָטַ֥חְתָּ בְ/דַרְכְּ/ךָ֖ בְּ/רֹ֥ב גִּבּוֹרֶֽי/ךָ
Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall bee spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Beth-arbel in the day of battell: the mother was dashed in pieces vpon her children.

וְ/קָ֣אם שָׁאוֹן֮ בְּ/עַמֶּ/ךָ֒ וְ/כָל מִבְצָרֶ֣י/ךָ יוּשַּׁ֔ד כְּ/שֹׁ֧ד שַֽׁלְמַ֛ן בֵּ֥ית אַֽרְבֵ֖אל בְּ/י֣וֹם מִלְחָמָ֑ה אֵ֥ם עַל בָּנִ֖ים רֻטָּֽשָׁה
So shall Bethel doe vnto you, because of your great wickednesse: in a morning shall the king of Israel be vtterly cut off.
GenevaSo shall Beth-el doe vnto you, because of your malicious wickednes: in a morning shall the King of Israel be destroied.
כָּ֗כָה עָשָׂ֤ה לָ/כֶם֙ בֵּֽית אֵ֔ל מִ/פְּנֵ֖י רָעַ֣ת רָֽעַתְ/כֶ֑ם בַּ/שַּׁ֕חַר נִדְמֹ֥ה נִדְמָ֖ה מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
