In the seuenth moneth, in the one and twentith day of the moneth, came the word of the LORD by the Prophet Haggai, saying;
GenevaIn the foure and twentieth day of the sixt moneth, in the second yeere of King Darius,
בַּ/שְּׁבִיעִ֕י בְּ/עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְ/אֶחָ֖ד לַ/חֹ֑דֶשׁ הָיָה֙ דְּבַר יְהוָ֔ה בְּ/יַד חַגַּ֥י הַ/נָּבִ֖יא לֵ/אמֹֽר
Speake now to Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, gouernour of Iudah, and to Iosuah the sonne of Iosedech the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,
GenevaIn the seuenth moneth, in the one and twentieth day of the moneth, came the worde of the Lord by the ministerie of the Prophet Haggai, saying,
אֱמָר נָ֗א אֶל זְרֻבָּבֶ֤ל בֶּן שַׁלְתִּיאֵל֙ פַּחַ֣ת יְהוּדָ֔ה וְ/אֶל יְהוֹשֻׁ֥עַ בֶּן יְהוֹצָדָ֖ק הַ/כֹּהֵ֣ן הַ/גָּד֑וֹל וְ/אֶל שְׁאֵרִ֥ית הָ/עָ֖ם לֵ/אמֹֽר
Who is left among you that sawe this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? Is it not in your eyes in comparison of it, as nothing?
GenevaSpeake nowe to Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel prince of Iudah, and to Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,
מִ֤י בָ/כֶם֙ הַ/נִּשְׁאָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֤ר רָאָה֙ אֶת הַ/בַּ֣יִת הַ/זֶּ֔ה בִּ/כְבוֹד֖/וֹ הָ/רִאשׁ֑וֹן וּ/מָ֨ה אַתֶּ֜ם רֹאִ֤ים אֹת/וֹ֙ עַ֔תָּה הֲ/ל֥וֹא כָמֹ֛/הוּ כְּ/אַ֖יִן בְּ/עֵינֵי/כֶֽם
Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD, and bee strong, O Ioshua, sonne of Iosedech the high Priest, and be strong all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and worke: (for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts,)
GenevaWho is left among you, that sawe this House in her first glory, and howe doe you see it nowe? is it not in your eyes, in comparison of it as nothing?
וְ/עַתָּ֣ה חֲזַ֣ק זְרֻבָּבֶ֣ל נְאֻם יְהוָ֡ה וַ/חֲזַ֣ק יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ בֶּן יְהוֹצָדָק֩ הַ/כֹּהֵ֨ן הַ/גָּד֜וֹל וַ/חֲזַ֨ק כָּל עַ֥ם הָ/אָ֛רֶץ נְאֻם יְהוָ֖ה וַֽ/עֲשׂ֑וּ כִּֽי אֲנִ֣י אִתְּ/כֶ֔ם נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת
According to the word that I couenanted with you, when ye came out of Egypt, so my Spirit remaineth among you, Feare ye not.
GenevaYet nowe be of good courage, O Zerubbabel, sayth the Lord, and be of good comfort, O Iehoshua, sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest: and be strong, all ye people of the land, sayth the Lord, and doe it: for I am with you, sayth the Lord of hostes,
אֶֽת הַ/דָּבָ֞ר אֲשֶׁר כָּרַ֤תִּי אִתְּ/כֶם֙ בְּ/צֵאתְ/כֶ֣ם מִ/מִּצְרַ֔יִם וְ/רוּחִ֖/י עֹמֶ֣דֶת בְּ/תוֹכְ/כֶ֑ם אַל תִּירָֽאוּ
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, Yet once, it is a litle while, and I will shake the heauens, and the earth, and the sea, and the drie land.
GenevaAccording to the worde that I couenanted with you, when ye came out of Egypt: so my Spirite shall remaine among you, feare ye not.
כִּ֣י כֹ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת ע֥וֹד אַחַ֖ת מְעַ֣ט הִ֑יא וַ/אֲנִ֗י מַרְעִישׁ֙ אֶת הַ/שָּׁמַ֣יִם וְ/אֶת הָ/אָ֔רֶץ וְ/אֶת הַ/יָּ֖ם וְ/אֶת הֶ/חָרָבָֽה
And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come, and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
GenevaFor thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Yet a litle while, and I will shake the heauens and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land:
וְ/הִרְעַשְׁתִּי֙ אֶת כָּל הַ/גּוֹיִ֔ם וּ/בָ֖אוּ חֶמְדַּ֣ת כָּל הַ/גּוֹיִ֑ם וּ/מִלֵּאתִ֞י אֶת הַ/בַּ֤יִת הַ/זֶּה֙ כָּב֔וֹד אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת
The siluer is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
GenevaAnd I will moue all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come, and I will fill this House with glory, sayth the Lord of hostes.
לִ֥/י הַ/כֶּ֖סֶף וְ/לִ֣/י הַ/זָּהָ֑ב נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת
The glory of this latter house shal be greater then of the former, saith the LORD of hostes: and in this place will I giue peace, saith the LORD of hostes.
GenevaThe siluer is mine, and the golde is mine, sayth the Lord of hostes.
גָּד֣וֹל יִֽהְיֶ֡ה כְּבוֹד֩ הַ/בַּ֨יִת הַ/זֶּ֤ה הָ/אַֽחֲרוֹן֙ מִן הָ֣/רִאשׁ֔וֹן אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת וּ/בַ/מָּק֤וֹם הַ/זֶּה֙ אֶתֵּ֣ן שָׁל֔וֹם נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת
¶ In the foure and twentieth day of the ninth moneth, in the second yeere of Darius, came þ word of the LORD by Haggai the Prophet, saying,
GenevaThe glory of this last House shall be greater then the first, sayth the Lord of hostes: and in this place will I giue peace, sayth the Lord of hostes.
בְּ/עֶשְׂרִ֤ים וְ/אַרְבָּעָה֙ לַ/תְּשִׁיעִ֔י בִּ/שְׁנַ֥ת שְׁתַּ֖יִם לְ/דָרְיָ֑וֶשׁ הָיָה֙ דְּבַר יְהוָ֔ה אֶל חַגַּ֥י הַ/נָּבִ֖יא לֵ/אמֹֽר
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Aske now the priests concerning the law, saying,
GenevaIn the foure and twentieth day of the ninth moneth, in the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto the Prophet Haggai, saying,
כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת שְׁאַל נָ֧א אֶת הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֛ים תּוֹרָ֖ה לֵ/אמֹֽר
If one beare holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt doe touch bread or pottage, or wine, or oile, or any meate, shall it be holy? and the priests answered and said, No.
GenevaThus sayth the Lord of hostes, Aske nowe the Priests concerning the Law, and say,
הֵ֣ן יִשָּׂא אִ֨ישׁ בְּשַׂר קֹ֜דֶשׁ בִּ/כְנַ֣ף בִּגְד֗/וֹ וְ/נָגַ֣ע בִּ֠/כְנָפ/וֹ אֶל הַ/לֶּ֨חֶם וְ/אֶל הַ/נָּזִ֜יד וְ/אֶל הַ/יַּ֧יִן וְ/אֶל שֶׁ֛מֶן וְ/אֶל כָּל מַאֲכָ֖ל הֲ/יִקְדָּ֑שׁ וַ/יַּעֲנ֧וּ הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֛ים וַ/יֹּאמְר֖וּ לֹֽא
Then said Haggai, If one that is vncleane by a dead body, touch any of these, shal it be vncleane? and the priests answered and said, It shalbe vncleane.
GenevaIf one beare holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt doe touch the bread, or the potage, or the wine, or oyle, or any meate, shall it be holy? And the Priests answered and said, No.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר חַגַּ֔י אִם יִגַּ֧ע טְמֵא נֶ֛פֶשׁ בְּ/כָל אֵ֖לֶּה הֲ/יִטְמָ֑א וַ/יַּעֲנ֧וּ הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֛ים וַ/יֹּאמְר֖וּ יִטְמָֽא
Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD, and so is euery worke of their hands, and that which they offer there, is vncleane.
GenevaThen sayde Haggai, If a polluted person touch any of these, shall it be vncleane? And the Priests answered, and sayd, It shalbe vncleane.
וַ/יַּ֨עַן חַגַּ֜י וַ/יֹּ֗אמֶר כֵּ֣ן הָֽ/עָם הַ֠/זֶּה וְ/כֵן הַ/גּ֨וֹי הַ/זֶּ֤ה לְ/פָנַ/י֙ נְאֻם יְהוָ֔ה וְ/כֵ֖ן כָּל מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יְדֵי/הֶ֑ם וַ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַקְרִ֛יבוּ שָׁ֖ם טָמֵ֥א הֽוּא
And now I pray you consider from this day and vpward, from before a stone was laid vpon a stone in the Temple of the LORD.
GenevaThen answered Haggai, and sayd, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the Lord: and so are all the workes of their hands, and that which they offer here, is vncleane.
וְ/עַתָּה֙ שִֽׂימוּ נָ֣א לְבַבְ/כֶ֔ם מִן הַ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/זֶּ֖ה וָ/מָ֑עְלָ/ה מִ/טֶּ֧רֶם שֽׂוּם אֶ֛בֶן אֶל אֶ֖בֶן בְּ/הֵיכַ֥ל יְהוָֽה
Since those dayes were, when one came to an heape of twentie measures, there were but ten: when one came to the presse-fatte for to draw out fiftie vessels out of the presse, there were but twentie.
GenevaAnd nowe, I pray you, consider in your mindes: from this day, and afore, euen afore a stone was layde vpon a stone in the Temple of the Lord:
מִֽ/הְיוֹתָ֥/ם בָּא֙ אֶל עֲרֵמַ֣ת עֶשְׂרִ֔ים וְ/הָיְתָ֖ה עֲשָׂרָ֑ה בָּ֣א אֶל הַ/יֶּ֗קֶב לַ/חְשֹׂף֙ חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים פּוּרָ֔ה וְ/הָיְתָ֖ה עֶשְׂרִֽים
I smote you with blasting, and with mildew, and with haile in all the labours of your hands: yet yee turned not to me, saith the LORD.
GenevaBefore these things were, when one came to an heape of twentie measures, there were but ten: when one came to the wine presse for to drawe out fiftie vessels out of the presse, there were but twentie.
הִכֵּ֨יתִי אֶתְ/כֶ֜ם בַּ/שִּׁדָּפ֤וֹן וּ/בַ/יֵּֽרָקוֹן֙ וּ/בַ/בָּרָ֔ד אֵ֖ת כָּל מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יְדֵי/כֶ֑ם וְ/אֵין אֶתְ/כֶ֥ם אֵלַ֖/י נְאֻם יְהוָֽה
Consider now from this day, and vpward from the foure and twentieth day of the ninth moneth, euen from the day that the foundatio of the LORDs Temple was laid, consider it.
GenevaI smote you with blasting, and with mildewe, and with haile, in all the labours of your hands: yet you turned not to me, saith the Lord.
שִׂימוּ נָ֣א לְבַבְ/כֶ֔ם מִן הַ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/זֶּ֖ה וָ/מָ֑עְלָ/ה מִ/יּוֹם֩ עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְ/אַרְבָּעָ֜ה לַ/תְּשִׁיעִ֗י לְ/מִן הַ/יּ֛וֹם אֲשֶׁר יֻסַּ֥ד הֵֽיכַל יְהוָ֖ה שִׂ֥ימוּ לְבַבְ/כֶֽם
Is the seed yet in the barne? yea, as yet the vine and the fig tree, & the pomegranate, and the Oliue tree hath not brought foorth: from this day will I blesse you.
GenevaConsider, I pray you, in your mindes, from this day, and afore from the foure and twentieth day of the ninth moneth, euen from the day that the foundation of the Lords Temple was laide: consider it in your mindes.
הַ/ע֤וֹד הַ/זֶּ֨רַע֙ בַּ/מְּגוּרָ֔ה וְ/עַד הַ/גֶּ֨פֶן וְ/הַ/תְּאֵנָ֧ה וְ/הָ/רִמּ֛וֹן וְ/עֵ֥ץ הַ/זַּ֖יִת לֹ֣א נָשָׂ֑א מִן הַ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/זֶּ֖ה אֲבָרֵֽךְ
¶ And againe the worde of the LORD came vnto Haggai in the foure and twentieth day of the moneth, saying,
GenevaIs the seede yet in the barne? as yet the vine, and the figtree, and the pomegranate, and the oliue tree hath not brought forth: from this day will I blesse you.
וַ/יְהִ֨י דְבַר יְהוָ֤ה שֵׁנִית֙ אֶל חַגַּ֔י בְּ/עֶשְׂרִ֧ים וְ/אַרְבָּעָ֛ה לַ/חֹ֖דֶשׁ לֵ/אמֹֽר
Speake to Zerubbabel gouernor of Iudah, saying, I wil shake the heauens and the earth.
GenevaAnd againe the worde of the Lord came vnto Haggai in the foure and twentieth day of the moneth, saying,
אֱמֹ֕ר אֶל זְרֻבָּבֶ֥ל פַּֽחַת יְהוּדָ֖ה לֵ/אמֹ֑ר אֲנִ֣י מַרְעִ֔ישׁ אֶת הַ/שָּׁמַ֖יִם וְ/אֶת הָ/אָֽרֶץ
And I will ouerthrow the throne of kingdomes, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdomes of the heathen, and I will ouerthrow the charets, and those that ride in them, and the horses and their riders shall come downe, euery one by the sword of his brother.
GenevaSpeake to Zerubbabel the prince of Iudah, and say, I wil shake the heauens and the earth,
וְ/הָֽפַכְתִּי֙ כִּסֵּ֣א מַמְלָכ֔וֹת וְ/הִ֨שְׁמַדְתִּ֔י חֹ֖זֶק מַמְלְכ֣וֹת הַ/גּוֹיִ֑ם וְ/הָפַכְתִּ֤י מֶרְכָּבָה֙ וְ/רֹ֣כְבֶ֔י/הָ וְ/יָרְד֤וּ סוּסִים֙ וְ/רֹ֣כְבֵי/הֶ֔ם אִ֖ישׁ בְּ/חֶ֥רֶב אָחִֽי/ו
In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my seruant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I haue chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.
GenevaAnd I will ouerthrowe the throne of kingdomes, and I wil destroy the strength of the kingdomes of the heathen, and I wil ouerthrowe the charets, and those that ride in them, and the horse and the riders shall come downe, euery one by the sword of his brother.
