Genesis 47
Then Ioseph came and tolde Pharaoh, and saide, My father and my brethren, and their flockes, and their heards, and all that they haue, are come out of the land of Canaan: and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.
GenevaThen came Ioseph and tolde Pharaoh, and sayde, My father, and my brethren, and their sheepe, and their cattell, and all that they haue, are come out of the land of Canaan, and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.
וַ/יָּבֹ֣א יוֹסֵף֮ וַ/יַּגֵּ֣ד לְ/פַרְעֹה֒ וַ/יֹּ֗אמֶר אָבִ֨/י וְ/אַחַ֜/י וְ/צֹאנָ֤/ם וּ/בְקָרָ/ם֙ וְ/כָל אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָ/הֶ֔ם בָּ֖אוּ מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וְ/הִנָּ֖/ם בְּ/אֶ֥רֶץ גֹּֽשֶׁן
And hee tooke some of his brethren, euen fiue men, & presented them vnto Pharaoh.
GenevaAnd Ioseph tooke part of his brethren, euen fiue men, and presented them vnto Pharaoh.
וּ/מִ/קְצֵ֣ה אֶחָ֔י/ו לָקַ֖ח חֲמִשָּׁ֣ה אֲנָשִׁ֑ים וַ/יַּצִּגֵ֖/ם לִ/פְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹֽה
And Pharaoh said vnto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said vnto Pharaoh, Thy seruants are shepheards, both wee and also our fathers.
GenevaThen Pharaoh said vnto his brethren, What is your trade? And they answered Pharaoh, Thy seruants are shepheards, both we and our fathers.
וַ/יֹּ֧אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֛ה אֶל אֶחָ֖י/ו מַה מַּעֲשֵׂי/כֶ֑ם וַ/יֹּאמְר֣וּ אֶל פַּרְעֹ֗ה רֹעֵ֥ה צֹאן֙ עֲבָדֶ֔י/ךָ גַּם אֲנַ֖חְנוּ גַּם אֲבוֹתֵֽי/נוּ
They said moreouer vnto Pharaoh, For to soiourne in the land are we come: for thy seruants haue no pasture for their flockes, for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore we pray thee, let thy seruants dwel in the land of Goshen.
GenevaThey sayde moreouer vnto Pharaoh, For to soiourne in ye lande are we come: for thy seruants haue no pasture for their sheepe, so sore is ye famine in the lande of Canaan. Nowe therefore, we pray thee, let thy seruants dwel in the land of Goshen.
וַ/יֹּאמְר֣וּ אֶל פַּרְעֹ֗ה לָ/ג֣וּר בָּ/אָרֶץ֮ בָּאנוּ֒ כִּי אֵ֣ין מִרְעֶ֗ה לַ/צֹּאן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לַ/עֲבָדֶ֔י/ךָ כִּֽי כָבֵ֥ד הָ/רָעָ֖ב בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וְ/עַתָּ֛ה יֵֽשְׁבוּ נָ֥א עֲבָדֶ֖י/ךָ בְּ/אֶ֥רֶץ גֹּֽשֶׁן
And Pharaoh spake vnto Ioseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come vnto thee.
GenevaThen spake Pharaoh to Ioseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come vnto thee.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֔ה אֶל יוֹסֵ֖ף לֵ/אמֹ֑ר אָבִ֥י/ךָ וְ/אַחֶ֖י/ךָ בָּ֥אוּ אֵלֶֽי/ךָ
The land of Egypt is before thee: in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell, in the lande of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any man of actiuitie amongst them, then make them rulers ouer my cattell.

אֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ לְ/פָנֶ֣י/ךָ הִ֔וא בְּ/מֵיטַ֣ב הָ/אָ֔רֶץ הוֹשֵׁ֥ב אֶת אָבִ֖י/ךָ וְ/אֶת אַחֶ֑י/ךָ יֵשְׁבוּ֙ בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ גֹּ֔שֶׁן וְ/אִם יָדַ֗עְתָּ וְ/יֶשׁ בָּ/ם֙ אַנְשֵׁי חַ֔יִל וְ/שַׂמְתָּ֛/ם שָׂרֵ֥י מִקְנֶ֖ה עַל אֲשֶׁר לִֽ/י
And Ioseph brought in Iacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Iacob blessed Pharaoh.

וַ/יָּבֵ֤א יוֹסֵף֙ אֶת יַֽעֲקֹ֣ב אָבִ֔י/ו וַ/יַּֽעֲמִדֵ֖/הוּ לִ/פְנֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֑ה וַ/יְבָ֥רֶךְ יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת פַּרְעֹֽה
And Pharaoh said vnto Iacob, How old art thou?
GenevaThen Pharaoh sayde vnto Iaakob, Howe olde art thou?
וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֖ה אֶֽל יַעֲקֹ֑ב כַּ/מָּ֕ה יְמֵ֖י שְׁנֵ֥י חַיֶּֽי/ךָ
And Iacob said vnto Pharaoh, The dayes of the yeeres of my pilgrimage are an hundred & thirtie yeres: few and euill haue the dayes of the yeeres of my life bene, and haue not attained vnto the dayes of the yeeres of the life of my fathers, in the dayes of their pilgrimage.
GenevaAnd Iaakob sayd vnto Pharaoh, The whole time of my pilgrimage is an hundreth and thirty yeeres: fewe and euill haue the dayes of my life bene, and I haue not attayned vnto the yeeres of the life of my fathers, in the dayes of their pilgrimages.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יַעֲקֹב֙ אֶל פַּרְעֹ֔ה יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵ֣י מְגוּרַ֔/י שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים וּ/מְאַ֖ת שָׁנָ֑ה מְעַ֣ט וְ/רָעִ֗ים הָיוּ֙ יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵ֣י חַיַּ֔/י וְ/לֹ֣א הִשִּׂ֗יגוּ אֶת יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י אֲבֹתַ֔/י בִּ/ימֵ֖י מְגוּרֵי/הֶֽם
And Iacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.
GenevaAnd Iaakob tooke leaue of Pharaoh, and departed from the presence of Pharaoh.
וַ/יְבָ֥רֶךְ יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת פַּרְעֹ֑ה וַ/יֵּצֵ֖א מִ/לִּ/פְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹֽה
¶ And Ioseph placed his father, and his brethren, and gaue them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

וַ/יּוֹשֵׁ֣ב יוֹסֵף֮ אֶת אָבִ֣י/ו וְ/אֶת אֶחָי/ו֒ וַ/יִּתֵּ֨ן לָ/הֶ֤ם אֲחֻזָּה֙ בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּ/מֵיטַ֥ב הָ/אָ֖רֶץ בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ רַעְמְסֵ֑ס כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֥ה פַרְעֹֽה
And Ioseph nourished his father and his brethren, and all his fathers houshold with bread, according to their families.
GenevaAnd Ioseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his fathers houshold with bread, euen to the yong children.
וַ/יְכַלְכֵּ֤ל יוֹסֵף֙ אֶת אָבִ֣י/ו וְ/אֶת אֶחָ֔י/ו וְ/אֵ֖ת כָּל בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֑י/ו לֶ֖חֶם לְ/פִ֥י הַ/טָּֽף
¶ And there was no bread in all the land: for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
GenevaNow there was no bread in all the land: for the famine was exceeding sore: so that the land of Egypt, and the land of Canaan were famished by reason of the famine.
וְ/לֶ֤חֶם אֵין֙ בְּ/כָל הָ/אָ֔רֶץ כִּֽי כָבֵ֥ד הָ/רָעָ֖ב מְאֹ֑ד וַ/תֵּ֜לַהּ אֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ וְ/אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן מִ/פְּנֵ֖י הָ/רָעָֽב
And Ioseph gathered vp all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corne which they bought: and Ioseph brought the money into Pharaohs house.
GenevaAnd Ioseph gathered all the money, that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corne which they bought, and Ioseph layd vp the money in Pharaohs house.
וַ/יְלַקֵּ֣ט יוֹסֵ֗ף אֶת כָּל הַ/כֶּ֨סֶף֙ הַ/נִּמְצָ֤א בְ/אֶֽרֶץ מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ וּ/בְ/אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן בַּ/שֶּׁ֖בֶר אֲשֶׁר הֵ֣ם שֹׁבְרִ֑ים וַ/יָּבֵ֥א יוֹסֵ֛ף אֶת הַ/כֶּ֖סֶף בֵּ֥יתָ/ה פַרְעֹֽה
And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came vnto Ioseph, and said, Giue vs bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.
GenevaSo when money fayled in the lande of Egypt, and in the lande of Canaan, then all the Egyptians came vnto Ioseph, and sayde, Giue vs bread: for why should we dye before thee? for our money is spent.
וַ/יִּתֹּ֣ם הַ/כֶּ֗סֶף מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַיִם֮ וּ/מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַעַן֒ וַ/יָּבֹאוּ֩ כָל מִצְרַ֨יִם אֶל יוֹסֵ֤ף לֵ/אמֹר֙ הָֽבָ/ה לָּ֣/נוּ לֶ֔חֶם וְ/לָ֥/מָּה נָמ֖וּת נֶגְדֶּ֑/ךָ כִּ֥י אָפֵ֖ס כָּֽסֶף
And Ioseph said, Giue your cattell: and I will giue you for your catell, if money faile.
GenevaThen saide Ioseph, Bring your cattell, and I will giue you for your cattell, if your money be spent.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ הָב֣וּ מִקְנֵי/כֶ֔ם וְ/אֶתְּנָ֥ה לָ/כֶ֖ם בְּ/מִקְנֵי/כֶ֑ם אִם אָפֵ֖ס כָּֽסֶף
And they brought their cattel vnto Ioseph: and Ioseph gaue them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flockes, and for the cattell of the heards, and for the asses, and he fed them with bread, for all their cattel, for that yeere.

וַ/יָּבִ֣יאוּ אֶת מִקְנֵי/הֶם֮ אֶל יוֹסֵף֒ וַ/יִּתֵּ֣ן לָ/הֶם֩ יוֹסֵ֨ף לֶ֜חֶם בַּ/סּוּסִ֗ים וּ/בְ/מִקְנֵ֥ה הַ/צֹּ֛אן וּ/בְ/מִקְנֵ֥ה הַ/בָּקָ֖ר וּ/בַ/חֲמֹרִ֑ים וַ/יְנַהֲלֵ֤/ם בַּ/לֶּ֨חֶם֙ בְּ/כָל מִקְנֵ/הֶ֔ם בַּ/שָּׁנָ֖ה הַ/הִֽוא
When that yeere was ended, they came vnto him the second yeere, and said vnto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent, my lord also had our heards of cattell: there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands.
GenevaBut when the yeere was ended, they came vnto him the next yeere, and sayd vnto him, We will not hide from my lord, that since our money is spent, and my lord hath the heards of the cattel, there is nothing left in the sight of my lorde, but our bodies and our ground.
וַ/תִּתֹּם֮ הַ/שָּׁנָ֣ה הַ/הִוא֒ וַ/יָּבֹ֨אוּ אֵלָ֜י/ו בַּ/שָּׁנָ֣ה הַ/שֵּׁנִ֗ית וַ/יֹּ֤אמְרוּ ל/וֹ֙ לֹֽא נְכַחֵ֣ד מֵֽ/אֲדֹנִ֔/י כִּ֚י אִם תַּ֣ם הַ/כֶּ֔סֶף וּ/מִקְנֵ֥ה הַ/בְּהֵמָ֖ה אֶל אֲדֹנִ֑/י לֹ֤א נִשְׁאַר֙ לִ/פְנֵ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔/י בִּלְתִּ֥י אִם גְּוִיָּתֵ֖/נוּ וְ/אַדְמָתֵֽ/נוּ
Wherfore shall we die before thine eyes, both we, and our land? buy vs and our land for bread, and we and our land will be seruants vnto Pharaoh: and giue vs seede that we may liue and not die, that the land be not desolate.
GenevaWhy shall we perish in thy sight, both we, and our land? bye vs and our land for bread, and we and our land will be bonde to Pharaoh: therefore giue vs seede, that we may liue and not dye, and that the land go not to waste.
לָ֧/מָּה נָמ֣וּת לְ/עֵינֶ֗י/ךָ גַּם אֲנַ֨חְנוּ֙ גַּ֣ם אַדְמָתֵ֔/נוּ קְנֵֽה אֹתָ֥/נוּ וְ/אֶת אַדְמָתֵ֖/נוּ בַּ/לָּ֑חֶם וְ/נִֽהְיֶ֞ה אֲנַ֤חְנוּ וְ/אַדְמָתֵ֨/נוּ֙ עֲבָדִ֣ים לְ/פַרְעֹ֔ה וְ/תֶן זֶ֗רַע וְ/נִֽחְיֶה֙ וְ/לֹ֣א נָמ֔וּת וְ/הָ/אֲדָמָ֖ה לֹ֥א תֵשָֽׁם
And Ioseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh: for the Egyptians sold euery man his field, because the famine preuailed ouer them: so the land became Pharaohs.
GenevaSo Ioseph bought all the lande of Egypt for Pharaoh: for the Egyptians solde euery man his ground because the famine was sore vpon the: so the land became Pharaohs.
וַ/יִּ֨קֶן יוֹסֵ֜ף אֶת כָּל אַדְמַ֤ת מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ לְ/פַרְעֹ֔ה כִּֽי מָכְר֤וּ מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ אִ֣ישׁ שָׂדֵ֔/הוּ כִּֽי חָזַ֥ק עֲלֵ/הֶ֖ם הָ/רָעָ֑ב וַ/תְּהִ֥י הָ/אָ֖רֶץ לְ/פַרְעֹֽה
And as for the people, he remoued them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt, euen to the other ende thereof.
GenevaAnd he remoued the people vnto the cities, from one side of Egypt euen to the other.
וְ/אֶ֨ת הָ/עָ֔ם הֶעֱבִ֥יר אֹת֖/וֹ לֶ/עָרִ֑ים מִ/קְצֵ֥ה גְבוּל מִצְרַ֖יִם וְ/עַד קָצֵֽ/הוּ
Onely the land of the Priests bought he not: for the priests had a portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eate their portion which Pharaoh gaue them: wherefore they solde not their lands.
GenevaOnely the lande of the Priestes bought he not: for the Priestes had an ordinarie of Pharaoh, and they did eate their ordinarie, which Pharaoh gaue them: wherefore they solde not their grounde.
רַ֛ק אַדְמַ֥ת הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֖ים לֹ֣א קָנָ֑ה כִּי֩ חֹ֨ק לַ/כֹּהֲנִ֜ים מֵ/אֵ֣ת פַּרְעֹ֗ה וְ/אָֽכְל֤וּ אֶת חֻקָּ/ם֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֤ן לָ/הֶם֙ פַּרְעֹ֔ה עַל כֵּ֕ן לֹ֥א מָכְר֖וּ אֶת אַדְמָתָֽ/ם
Then Ioseph said vnto the people, Behold, I haue bought you this day, and your land for Pharaoh: Loe, here is seed for you, and ye shall sow the land.
GenevaThen Ioseph sayd vnto the people, Behold, I haue bought you this daye, and your lande for Pharaoh: lo, here is seede for you: sowe therefore the grounde.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ אֶל הָ/עָ֔ם הֵן֩ קָנִ֨יתִי אֶתְ/כֶ֥ם הַ/יּ֛וֹם וְ/אֶת אַדְמַתְ/כֶ֖ם לְ/פַרְעֹ֑ה הֵֽא לָ/כֶ֣ם זֶ֔רַע וּ/זְרַעְתֶּ֖ם אֶת הָ/אֲדָמָֽה
And it shall come to passe in the increase, that you shall giue the fift part vnto Pharaoh, and foure parts shall be your owne, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your litle ones.
GenevaAnd of the encrease ye shall giue the fifth part vnto Pharaoh, and foure partes shalbe yours for the seede of the fielde, and for your meate, and for them of your housholdes, and for your children to eate.
וְ/הָיָה֙ בַּ/תְּבוּאֹ֔ת וּ/נְתַתֶּ֥ם חֲמִישִׁ֖ית לְ/פַרְעֹ֑ה וְ/אַרְבַּ֣ע הַ/יָּדֹ֡ת יִהְיֶ֣ה לָ/כֶם֩ לְ/זֶ֨רַע הַ/שָּׂדֶ֧ה וּֽ/לְ/אָכְלְ/כֶ֛ם וְ/לַ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּ/בָתֵּי/כֶ֖ם וְ/לֶ/אֱכֹ֥ל לְ/טַפְּ/כֶֽם
And they said, Thou hast saued our liues: let vs find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaohs seruants.

וַ/יֹּאמְר֖וּ הֶחֱיִתָ֑/נוּ נִמְצָא חֵן֙ בְּ/עֵינֵ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔/י וְ/הָיִ֥ינוּ עֲבָדִ֖ים לְ/פַרְעֹֽה
And Ioseph made it a law ouer the land of Egypt vnto this day, that Pharaoh should haue the fift part: except the land of the priests onely, which became not Pharaohs.

וַ/יָּ֣שֶׂם אֹתָ֣/הּ יוֹסֵ֡ף לְ/חֹק֩ עַד הַ/יּ֨וֹם הַ/זֶּ֜ה עַל אַדְמַ֥ת מִצְרַ֛יִם לְ/פַרְעֹ֖ה לַ/חֹ֑מֶשׁ רַ֞ק אַדְמַ֤ת הַ/כֹּֽהֲנִים֙ לְ/בַדָּ֔/ם לֹ֥א הָיְתָ֖ה לְ/פַרְעֹֽה
¶ And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt in the countrey of Goshen, and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

וַ/יֵּ֧שֶׁב יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּ/אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ גֹּ֑שֶׁן וַ/יֵּאָחֲז֣וּ בָ֔/הּ וַ/יִּפְר֥וּ וַ/יִּרְבּ֖וּ מְאֹֽד
And Iacob liued in the land of Egypt seuenteene yeres: so the whole age of Iacob was an hundred fourtie and seuen yeeres.

וַ/יְחִ֤י יַעֲקֹב֙ בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם שְׁבַ֥ע עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה שָׁנָ֑ה וַ/יְהִ֤י יְמֵֽי יַעֲקֹב֙ שְׁנֵ֣י חַיָּ֔י/ו שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים וְ/אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּ/מְאַ֖ת שָׁנָֽה
And the time drew nigh that Israel must die, and he called his sonne Ioseph, and said vnto him, If now I haue found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand vnder my thigh, and deale kindly and truely with mee, bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt.
GenevaNow when the time drewe neere that Israel must dye, he called his sonne Ioseph, and sayde vnto him, If I haue nowe founde grace in thy sight, put thine hand nowe vnder my thigh, and deale mercifully and truely with me: burie me not, I pray thee, in Egypt.
וַ/יִּקְרְב֣וּ יְמֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֘ל לָ/מוּת֒ וַ/יִּקְרָ֣א לִ/בְנ֣/וֹ לְ/יוֹסֵ֗ף וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר ל/וֹ֙ אִם נָ֨א מָצָ֤אתִי חֵן֙ בְּ/עֵינֶ֔י/ךָ שִֽׂים נָ֥א יָדְ/ךָ֖ תַּ֣חַת יְרֵכִ֑/י וְ/עָשִׂ֤יתָ עִמָּדִ/י֙ חֶ֣סֶד וֶ/אֱמֶ֔ת אַל נָ֥א תִקְבְּרֵ֖/נִי בְּ/מִצְרָֽיִם
But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carie mee out of Egypt, and bury me in their burying place: and he said, I will doe as thou hast said.
GenevaBut when I shall sleepe with my fathers, thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury mee in their buryall. And he answered, I will doe as thou hast sayde.
וְ/שָֽׁכַבְתִּי֙ עִם אֲבֹתַ֔/י וּ/נְשָׂאתַ֨/נִי֙ מִ/מִּצְרַ֔יִם וּ/קְבַרְתַּ֖/נִי בִּ/קְבֻרָתָ֑/ם וַ/יֹּאמַ֕ר אָנֹכִ֖י אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥ה כִ/דְבָרֶֽ/ךָ
And he said, Sweare vnto mee: and he sware vnto him. And Israel bowed himselfe vpon the beds head.
GenevaThe he said, Sweare vnto me. And he sware vnto him. And Israel worshipped towardes the beds head.
