Genesis 33
And Iacob lifted vp his eyes, and looked, and behold, Esau came, and with him foure hundreth men: and hee diuided the children vnto Leah, and vnto Rachel, and vnto the two handmaids.
GenevaAnd as Iaakob lift vp his eyes, and looked, behold, Esau came, and with him foure hundreth men: and he deuided the children to Leah, and to Rahel, and to the two maides.
וַ/יִּשָּׂ֨א יַעֲקֹ֜ב עֵינָ֗י/ו וַ/יַּרְא֙ וְ/הִנֵּ֣ה עֵשָׂ֣ו בָּ֔א וְ/עִמּ֕/וֹ אַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת אִ֑ישׁ וַ/יַּ֣חַץ אֶת הַ/יְלָדִ֗ים עַל לֵאָה֙ וְ/עַל רָחֵ֔ל וְ/עַ֖ל שְׁתֵּ֥י הַ/שְּׁפָחֽוֹת
And he put the handmaides, and their chidren foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Ioseph hindermost.

וַ/יָּ֧שֶׂם אֶת הַ/שְּׁפָח֛וֹת וְ/אֶת יַלְדֵי/הֶ֖ן רִֽאשֹׁנָ֑ה וְ/אֶת לֵאָ֤ה וִֽ/ילָדֶ֨י/הָ֙ אַחֲרֹנִ֔ים וְ/אֶת רָחֵ֥ל וְ/אֶת יוֹסֵ֖ף אַחֲרֹנִֽים
And hee passed ouer before them, and bowed himselfe to the ground seuen times, vntill hee came neere to his brother.

וְ/ה֖וּא עָבַ֣ר לִ/פְנֵי/הֶ֑ם וַ/יִּשְׁתַּ֤חוּ אַ֨רְצָ/ה֙ שֶׁ֣בַע פְּעָמִ֔ים עַד גִּשְׁתּ֖/וֹ עַד אָחִֽי/ו
And Esau ran to meete him, and imbraced him, and fell on his necke, and kissed him, and they wept.
GenevaThen Esau ranne to meete him, and embraced him, and fell on his necke, and kissed him, and they wept.
וַ/יָּ֨רָץ עֵשָׂ֤ו לִ/קְרָאת/וֹ֙ וַֽ/יְחַבְּקֵ֔/הוּ וַ/יִּפֹּ֥ל עַל צַוָּארָ֖/ו וַׄ/יִּׄשָּׁׄקֵ֑ׄ/הׄוּׄ וַ/יִּבְכּֽוּ
And he lift vp his eyes, and sawe the women, and the children, and said, who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously giuen thy seruant.
GenevaAnd he lift vp his eyes, and sawe the women, and the children, and saide, Who are these with thee? And he answered, They are ye childre whome God of his grace hath giuen thy seruant.
וַ/יִּשָּׂ֣א אֶת עֵינָ֗י/ו וַ/יַּ֤רְא אֶת הַ/נָּשִׁים֙ וְ/אֶת הַ/יְלָדִ֔ים וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר מִי אֵ֣לֶּה לָּ֑/ךְ וַ/יֹּאמַ֕ר הַ/יְלָדִ֕ים אֲשֶׁר חָנַ֥ן אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת עַבְדֶּֽ/ךָ
Then the handmaidens came neere; they and their children, and they bowed themselues.
GenevaThen came the maides neere, they, and their children, and bowed themselues.
וַ/תִּגַּ֧שְׁןָ הַ/שְּׁפָח֛וֹת הֵ֥נָּה וְ/יַלְדֵי/הֶ֖ן וַ/תִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶֽיןָ
And Leah also with her children came neere, and bowed themselues: and after came Ioseph neere and Rachel, and they bowed themselues.
GenevaLeah also with her children came neere and made obeysance: and after Ioseph and Rahel drew neere, and did reuerence.
וַ/תִּגַּ֧שׁ גַּם לֵאָ֛ה וִ/ילָדֶ֖י/הָ וַ/יִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֑וּ וְ/אַחַ֗ר נִגַּ֥שׁ יוֹסֵ֛ף וְ/רָחֵ֖ל וַ/יִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ
And he said, What meanest thou by all this droue, which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.
GenevaThen he said, What meanest thou by all this droue, which I met? Who answered, I haue sent it, that I may finde fauour in the sight of my lorde:
וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר מִ֥י לְ/ךָ֛ כָּל הַ/מַּחֲנֶ֥ה הַ/זֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר פָּגָ֑שְׁתִּי וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר לִ/מְצֹא חֵ֖ן בְּ/עֵינֵ֥י אֲדֹנִֽ/י
And Esau said, I haue enough: my brother, keepe that thou hast vnto thy selfe.
GenevaAnd Esau said, I haue ynough, my brother: keepe that thou hast to thy selfe.
וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר עֵשָׂ֖ו יֶשׁ לִ֣/י רָ֑ב אָחִ֕/י יְהִ֥י לְ/ךָ֖ אֲשֶׁר לָֽ/ךְ
And Iacob saide, Nay, I pray thee: if now I haue found grace in thy sight, then receiue my present at my hand: for therefore I haue seene thy face, as though I had seene the face of God; and thou wast pleased with me.
GenevaBut Iaakob answered, Nay, I pray thee: if I haue found grace nowe in thy sight, then receiue my present at mine hande: for I haue seene thy face, as though I had seene the face of God, because thou hast accepted me.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֗ב אַל נָא֙ אִם נָ֨א מָצָ֤אתִי חֵן֙ בְּ/עֵינֶ֔י/ךָ וְ/לָקַחְתָּ֥ מִנְחָתִ֖/י מִ/יָּדִ֑/י כִּ֣י עַל כֵּ֞ן רָאִ֣יתִי פָנֶ֗י/ךָ כִּ/רְאֹ֛ת פְּנֵ֥י אֱלֹהִ֖ים וַ/תִּרְצֵֽ/נִי
Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with mee, and because I haue enough: and hee vrged him, and he tooke it.
GenevaI pray thee take my blessing, that is brought thee: for God hath had mercie on me, and therefore I haue all things: so he compelled him, and he tooke it.
קַח נָ֤א אֶת בִּרְכָתִ/י֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֻבָ֣את לָ֔/ךְ כִּֽי חַנַּ֥/נִי אֱלֹהִ֖ים וְ/כִ֣י יֶשׁ לִ/י כֹ֑ל וַ/יִּפְצַר בּ֖/וֹ וַ/יִּקָּֽח
And he said, Let vs take our iourney, and let vs goe, and I will goe before thee.
GenevaAnd he saide, Let vs take our iourney and go, and I will goe before thee.
וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר נִסְעָ֣ה וְ/נֵלֵ֑כָה וְ/אֵלְכָ֖ה לְ/נֶגְדֶּֽ/ךָ
And hee said vnto him, My lord knoweth, that the children are tender, and the flockes and heards with yong are with mee: and if men should ouer-driue them one day, all the flocke will die.
GenevaThen he answered him, My lord knoweth, that the children are tender, and the ewes and kine with yong vnder mine hande: and if they should ouerdriue them one day, all the flocke would die.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗י/ו אֲדֹנִ֤/י יֹדֵ֨עַ֙ כִּֽי הַ/יְלָדִ֣ים רַכִּ֔ים וְ/הַ/צֹּ֥אן וְ/הַ/בָּקָ֖ר עָל֣וֹת עָלָ֑/י וּ/דְפָקוּ/ם֙ י֣וֹם אֶחָ֔ד וָ/מֵ֖תוּ כָּל הַ/צֹּֽאן
Let my lord, I pray thee, passe ouer before his seruant, and I will leade on softly, according as the cattell that goeth before me, and the children be able to endure, vntill I come vnto my lord vnto Seir.
GenevaLet now my lord go before his seruant, and I will driue softly, according to ye pase of ye cattel, which is before me, and as the children be able to endure, vntill I come to my lord vnto Seir.
יַעֲבָר נָ֥א אֲדֹנִ֖/י לִ/פְנֵ֣י עַבְדּ֑/וֹ וַ/אֲנִ֞י אֶֽתְנָהֲלָ֣ה לְ/אִטִּ֗/י לְ/רֶ֨גֶל הַ/מְּלָאכָ֤ה אֲשֶׁר לְ/פָנַ/י֙ וּ/לְ/רֶ֣גֶל הַ/יְלָדִ֔ים עַ֛ד אֲשֶׁר אָבֹ֥א אֶל אֲדֹנִ֖/י שֵׂעִֽירָ/ה
And Esau said, Let me now leaue with thee some of the folke that are with me: And hee said, What needeth it? let me finde grace in the sight of my lord.
GenevaThen Esau said, I will leaue then some of my folke with thee. And he answered, what needeth this? let me finde grace in the sight of my lorde.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר עֵשָׂ֔ו אַצִּֽיגָה נָּ֣א עִמְּ/ךָ֔ מִן הָ/עָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתִּ֑/י וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ לָ֣/מָּה זֶּ֔ה אֶמְצָא חֵ֖ן בְּ/עֵינֵ֥י אֲדֹנִֽ/י
¶ So Esau returned that day, on his way vnto Seir.
GenevaSo Esau returned, and went his way that same day vnto Seir.
וַ/יָּשָׁב֩ בַּ/יּ֨וֹם הַ/ה֥וּא עֵשָׂ֛ו לְ/דַרְכּ֖/וֹ שֵׂעִֽירָ/ה
And Iacob iourneyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made boothes for his cattell: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.

וְ/יַעֲקֹב֙ נָסַ֣ע סֻכֹּ֔תָ/ה וַ/יִּ֥בֶן ל֖/וֹ בָּ֑יִת וּ/לְ/מִקְנֵ֨/הוּ֙ עָשָׂ֣ה סֻכֹּ֔ת עַל כֵּ֛ן קָרָ֥א שֵׁם הַ/מָּק֖וֹם סֻכּֽוֹת
¶ And Iacob came to Shalem, a citie of Shechem, which is the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan Aram, and pitched his tent before the Citie.
GenevaAfterward, Iaakob came safe to Sheche a citie, which is in the lande of Canaan, when he came from Padan Aram, and pitched before the citie.
וַ/יָּבֹא֩ יַעֲקֹ֨ב שָׁלֵ֜ם עִ֣יר שְׁכֶ֗ם אֲשֶׁר֙ בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן בְּ/בֹא֖/וֹ מִ/פַּדַּ֣ן אֲרָ֑ם וַ/יִּ֖חַן אֶת פְּנֵ֥י הָ/עִֽיר
And he bought a parcell of a field where hee had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor Shechems father, for an hundred pieces of money.
GenevaAnd there he bought a parcell of ground, where hee pitched his tent, at the hande of the sonnes of Hamor Shechems father, for an hundreth pieces of money.
וַ/יִּ֜קֶן אֶת חֶלְקַ֣ת הַ/שָּׂדֶ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָֽטָה שָׁם֙ אָהֳל֔/וֹ מִ/יַּ֥ד בְּנֵֽי חֲמ֖וֹר אֲבִ֣י שְׁכֶ֑ם בְּ/מֵאָ֖ה קְשִׂיטָֽה
And hee erected there an Altar, and called it El-Elohe-Israel.
GenevaAnd he set vp there an altar, and called it, The mightie God of Israel.
וַ/יַּצֶּב שָׁ֖ם מִזְבֵּ֑חַ וַ/יִּ֨קְרָא ל֔/וֹ אֵ֖ל אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
