Exodus 2
And there went a man of the house of Leui, & tooke to wife a daughter of Leui.

וַ/יֵּ֥לֶךְ אִ֖ישׁ מִ/בֵּ֣ית לֵוִ֑י וַ/יִּקַּ֖ח אֶת בַּת לֵוִֽי
And the woman conceiued, and bare a sonne: and when shee saw him that hee was a goodly childe, shee hid him three moneths.
GenevaAnd the woman coceiued and bare a sonne: and when she saw that he was faire, she hid him three moneths.
וַ/תַּ֥הַר הָ/אִשָּׁ֖ה וַ/תֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֑ן וַ/תֵּ֤רֶא אֹת/וֹ֙ כִּי ט֣וֹב ה֔וּא וַֽ/תִּצְפְּנֵ֖/הוּ שְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה יְרָחִֽים
And when shee could not longer hide him, she tooke for him an arke of bul-rushes, and daubed it with slime, and with pitch, and put the childe therein, and shee layd it in the flags by the riuers brinke.
GenevaBut when she could no longer hide him, she tooke for him an arke made of reede, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and laide the childe therein, and put it among the bulrushes by the riuers brinke.
וְ/לֹא יָכְלָ֣ה עוֹד֮ הַצְּפִינ/וֹ֒ וַ/תִּֽקַּֽח ל/וֹ֙ תֵּ֣בַת גֹּ֔מֶא וַ/תַּחְמְרָ֥/ה בַ/חֵמָ֖ר וּ/בַ/זָּ֑פֶת וַ/תָּ֤שֶׂם בָּ/הּ֙ אֶת הַ/יֶּ֔לֶד וַ/תָּ֥שֶׂם בַּ/סּ֖וּף עַל שְׂפַ֥ת הַ/יְאֹֽר
And his sister stood afarre off, to wit what would be done to him.
GenevaNow his sister stood a farre off, to wit what would come of him.
וַ/תֵּתַצַּ֥ב אֲחֹת֖/וֹ מֵ/רָחֹ֑ק לְ/דֵעָ֕ה מַה יֵּעָשֶׂ֖ה לֽ/וֹ
¶ And the daughter of Pharaoh came downe to wash her selfe at the riuer, and her maydens walked along by the riuer side: and when shee saw the arke among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
GenevaThen ye daughter of Pharaoh came downe to wash her in the riuer, and her maidens walked by the riuers side: and when shee sawe the arke among the bulrushes, she sent her maide to fet it.
וַ/תֵּ֤רֶד בַּת פַּרְעֹה֙ לִ/רְחֹ֣ץ עַל הַ/יְאֹ֔ר וְ/נַעֲרֹתֶ֥י/הָ הֹלְכֹ֖ת עַל יַ֣ד הַ/יְאֹ֑ר וַ/תֵּ֤רֶא אֶת הַ/תֵּבָה֙ בְּ/ת֣וֹךְ הַ/סּ֔וּף וַ/תִּשְׁלַ֥ח אֶת אֲמָתָ֖/הּ וַ/תִּקָּחֶֽ/הָ
And when she had opened it, she saw the childe: and beholde, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrewes children.
GenevaThen she opened it, and sawe it was a childe: and beholde, the babe wept: so she had compassion on it, and sayde, This is one of the Ebrewes children.
וַ/תִּפְתַּח֙ וַ/תִּרְאֵ֣/הוּ אֶת הַ/יֶּ֔לֶד וְ/הִנֵּה נַ֖עַר בֹּכֶ֑ה וַ/תַּחְמֹ֣ל עָלָ֔י/ו וַ/תֹּ֕אמֶר מִ/יַּלְדֵ֥י הָֽ/עִבְרִ֖ים זֶֽה
Then said his sister to Pharaohs daughter, Shall I goe, and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew-women, that she may nurse the childe for thee?
GenevaThen said his sister vnto Pharaohs daughter, Shall I go and cal vnto thee a nurce of the Ebrew women to nurce thee the childe?
וַ/תֹּ֣אמֶר אֲחֹת/וֹ֮ אֶל בַּת פַּרְעֹה֒ הַ/אֵלֵ֗ךְ וְ/קָרָ֤אתִי לָ/ךְ֙ אִשָּׁ֣ה מֵינֶ֔קֶת מִ֖ן הָ/עִבְרִיֹּ֑ת וְ/תֵינִ֥ק לָ֖/ךְ אֶת הַ/יָּֽלֶד
And Pharaohs daughter said to her, Goe: And the mayd went and called the childs mother.
GenevaAnd Pharaohs daughter sayde to her, Goe. So the maide went and called the childes mother,
וַ/תֹּֽאמֶר לָ֥/הּ בַּת פַּרְעֹ֖ה לֵ֑כִי וַ/תֵּ֨לֶךְ֙ הָֽ/עַלְמָ֔ה וַ/תִּקְרָ֖א אֶת אֵ֥ם הַ/יָּֽלֶד
And Pharaohs daughter said vnto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will giue thee thy wages. And the woman tooke the childe, and nursed it.
GenevaTo whome Pharaohs daughter sayde, Take this childe away, and nurce it for me, and I wil reward thee. Then the woman tooke the childe and nurced him.
וַ/תֹּ֧אמֶר לָ֣/הּ בַּת פַּרְעֹ֗ה הֵילִ֜יכִי אֶת הַ/יֶּ֤לֶד הַ/זֶּה֙ וְ/הֵינִקִ֣/הוּ לִ֔/י וַ/אֲנִ֖י אֶתֵּ֣ן אֶת שְׂכָרֵ֑/ךְ וַ/תִּקַּ֧ח הָ/אִשָּׁ֛ה הַ/יֶּ֖לֶד וַ/תְּנִיקֵֽ/הוּ
And the childe grew, and shee brought him vnto Pharaohs daughter, and he became her sonne. And she called his name Moses: And she said, Because I drew him out of the water.
GenevaNowe the childe grewe, and she brought him vnto Pharaohs daughter, and he was as her sonne, and she called his name Moses, because, said she, I drewe him out of the water.
וַ/יִגְדַּ֣ל הַ/יֶּ֗לֶד וַ/תְּבִאֵ֨/הוּ֙ לְ/בַת פַּרְעֹ֔ה וַֽ/יְהִי לָ֖/הּ לְ/בֵ֑ן וַ/תִּקְרָ֤א שְׁמ/וֹ֙ מֹשֶׁ֔ה וַ/תֹּ֕אמֶר כִּ֥י מִן הַ/מַּ֖יִם מְשִׁיתִֽ/הוּ
¶ And it came to passe in those dayes, when Moses was growen, that he went out vnto his brethren, and looked on their burdens, and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
GenevaAnd in those dayes, when Moses was growen, he went forth vnto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: also he sawe an Egyptian smiting an Ebrewe one of his brethren.
וַ/יְהִ֣י בַּ/יָּמִ֣ים הָ/הֵ֗ם וַ/יִּגְדַּ֤ל מֹשֶׁה֙ וַ/יֵּצֵ֣א אֶל אֶחָ֔י/ו וַ/יַּ֖רְא בְּ/סִבְלֹתָ֑/ם וַ/יַּרְא֙ אִ֣ישׁ מִצְרִ֔י מַכֶּ֥ה אִישׁ עִבְרִ֖י מֵ/אֶחָֽי/ו
And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
GenevaAnd he looked rounde about, and when he sawe no man, hee slewe the Egyptian, and hid him in the sande.
וַ/יִּ֤פֶן כֹּה֙ וָ/כֹ֔ה וַ/יַּ֖רְא כִּ֣י אֵ֣ין אִ֑ישׁ וַ/יַּךְ֙ אֶת הַ/מִּצְרִ֔י וַֽ/יִּטְמְנֵ֖/הוּ בַּ/חֽוֹל
And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrewes stroue together: And hee said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?
GenevaAgaine he came forth the second day, and behold, two Ebrewes stroue: and he said vnto him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellowe?
וַ/יֵּצֵא֙ בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/שֵּׁנִ֔י וְ/הִנֵּ֛ה שְׁנֵֽי אֲנָשִׁ֥ים עִבְרִ֖ים נִצִּ֑ים וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ לָֽ/רָשָׁ֔ע לָ֥/מָּה תַכֶּ֖ה רֵעֶֽ/ךָ
And he said, Who made thee a Prince and a iudge ouer vs? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is knowen.
GenevaAnd hee answered, Who made thee a man of authoritie, and a iudge ouer vs? Thinkest thou to kill mee, as thou killedst the Egyptian? Then Moses feared and sayde, Certainly this thing is knowen.
וַ֠/יֹּאמֶר מִ֣י שָֽׂמְ/ךָ֞ לְ/אִ֨ישׁ שַׂ֤ר וְ/שֹׁפֵט֙ עָלֵ֔י/נוּ הַ/לְ/הָרְגֵ֨/נִי֙ אַתָּ֣ה אֹמֵ֔ר כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָרַ֖גְתָּ אֶת הַ/מִּצְרִ֑י וַ/יִּירָ֤א מֹשֶׁה֙ וַ/יֹּאמַ֔ר אָכֵ֖ן נוֹדַ֥ע הַ/דָּבָֽר
Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sate downe by a well.
GenevaNow Pharaoh heard this matter, and sought to slay Moses: therefore Moses fled from Pharaoh, and dwelt in the lande of Midian, and hee sate downe by a well.
וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֤ע פַּרְעֹה֙ אֶת הַ/דָּבָ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֔ה וַ/יְבַקֵּ֖שׁ לַ/הֲרֹ֣ג אֶת מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַ/יִּבְרַ֤ח מֹשֶׁה֙ מִ/פְּנֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֔ה וַ/יֵּ֥שֶׁב בְּ/אֶֽרֶץ מִדְיָ֖ן וַ/יֵּ֥שֶׁב עַֽל הַ/בְּאֵֽר
Now the Priest of Midian had seuen daughters, and they came and drew water, and filled the troughes to water their fathers flocke.
GenevaAnd the Priest of Midian had seue daughters, which came and drewe water, and filled the troghes, for to water their fathers sheepe.
וּ/לְ/כֹהֵ֥ן מִדְיָ֖ן שֶׁ֣בַע בָּנ֑וֹת וַ/תָּבֹ֣אנָה וַ/תִּדְלֶ֗נָה וַ/תְּמַלֶּ֨אנָה֙ אֶת הָ֣/רְהָטִ֔ים לְ/הַשְׁק֖וֹת צֹ֥אן אֲבִי/הֶֽן
And the shepheards came and droue them away: but Moses stood vp and helped them, & watred their flocke.
GenevaThen the shepherds came and droue them away: but Moses rose vp and defended them, and watered their sheepe.
וַ/יָּבֹ֥אוּ הָ/רֹעִ֖ים וַ/יְגָרְשׁ֑וּ/ם וַ/יָּ֤קָם מֹשֶׁה֙ וַ/יּ֣וֹשִׁעָ֔/ן וַ/יַּ֖שְׁקְ אֶת צֹאנָֽ/ם
And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that you are come so soone to day?
GenevaAnd whe they came to Reuel their father, he said, Howe are ye come so soone to day?
וַ/תָּבֹ֕אנָה אֶל רְעוּאֵ֖ל אֲבִי/הֶ֑ן וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר מַדּ֛וּעַ מִהַרְתֶּ֥ן בֹּ֖א הַ/יּֽוֹם
And they said, An Egyptian deliuered vs out of the hand of the shepheards, and also drew water enough for vs, and watered the flocke.
GenevaAnd they saide, A man of Egypt deliuered vs from the hand of the shepherdes, and also drew vs water ynough, and watered the sheepe.
וַ/תֹּאמַ֕רְןָ אִ֣ישׁ מִצְרִ֔י הִצִּילָ֖/נוּ מִ/יַּ֣ד הָ/רֹעִ֑ים וְ/גַם דָּלֹ֤ה דָלָה֙ לָ֔/נוּ וַ/יַּ֖שְׁקְ אֶת הַ/צֹּֽאן
And he said vnto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that yee haue left the man? Call him, that hee may eate bread.
GenevaThen he saide vnto his daughters, And where is he? why haue ye so left the man? call him that he may eate bread.
וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר אֶל בְּנֹתָ֖י/ו וְ/אַיּ֑/וֹ לָ֤/מָּה זֶּה֙ עֲזַבְתֶּ֣ן אֶת הָ/אִ֔ישׁ קִרְאֶ֥ן ל֖/וֹ וְ/יֹ֥אכַל לָֽחֶם
And Moses was content to dwel with the man, and he gaue Moses Zipporah his daughter.
GenevaAnd Moses agreed to dwell with the man: who gaue vnto Moses Zipporah his daughter:
וַ/יּ֥וֹאֶל מֹשֶׁ֖ה לָ/שֶׁ֣בֶת אֶת הָ/אִ֑ישׁ וַ/יִּתֵּ֛ן אֶת צִפֹּרָ֥ה בִתּ֖/וֹ לְ/מֹשֶֽׁה
And she bare him a sonne, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I haue bene a stranger in a strange land.
GenevaAnd she bare a sonne, whose name he called Gershom: for he said, I haue bene a stranger in a strange lande.
וַ/תֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֔ן וַ/יִּקְרָ֥א אֶת שְׁמ֖/וֹ גֵּרְשֹׁ֑ם כִּ֣י אָמַ֔ר גֵּ֣ר הָיִ֔יתִי בְּ/אֶ֖רֶץ נָכְרִיָּֽה
¶ And it came to passe in processe of time, that the king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came vp vnto God, by reason of the bondage.
GenevaThen in processe of time, the King of Egypt dyed, and the children of Israel sighed for the bondage and cryed: and their crie for the bondage came vp vnto God.
וַ/יְהִי֩ בַ/יָּמִ֨ים הָֽ/רַבִּ֜ים הָ/הֵ֗ם וַ/יָּ֨מָת֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מִצְרַ֔יִם וַ/יֵּאָנְח֧וּ בְנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל מִן הָ/עֲבֹדָ֖ה וַ/יִּזְעָ֑קוּ וַ/תַּ֧עַל שַׁוְעָתָ֛/ם אֶל הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים מִן הָ/עֲבֹדָֽה
And God heard their groning, and God remembred his Couenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Iacob.
GenevaThen God heard their mone, and God remembred his couenant with Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob.
וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֥ע אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת נַאֲקָתָ֑/ם וַ/יִּזְכֹּ֤ר אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת בְּרִית֔/וֹ אֶת אַבְרָהָ֖ם אֶת יִצְחָ֥ק וְ/אֶֽת יַעֲקֹֽב
And God looked vpon the children of Israel, and God had respect vnto them.
GenevaSo God looked vpon the children of Israel, and God had respect vnto them.
וַ/יַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַ/יֵּ֖דַע אֱלֹהִֽים
