Chapter 16
Exodus 16
And they tooke their iourney from Elim, and all the Congregation of the children of Israel came vnto the wildernesse of Sin, which is betweene Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second moneth after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
GenevaAfterward all the Congregation of the children of Israel departed from Elim, and came to the wildernes of Sin, (which is betweene Elim and Sinai) the fiftenth day of the second moneth after their departing out of ye land of Egypt.
וַ/יִּסְעוּ֙ מֵֽ/אֵילִ֔ם וַ/יָּבֹ֜אוּ כָּל עֲדַ֤ת בְּנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶל מִדְבַּר סִ֔ין אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּין אֵילִ֖ם וּ/בֵ֣ין סִינָ֑י בַּ/חֲמִשָּׁ֨ה עָשָׂ֥ר יוֹם֙ לַ/חֹ֣דֶשׁ הַ/שֵּׁנִ֔י לְ/צֵאתָ֖/ם מֵ/אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם
And the whole Congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wildernesse.

ו/ילינו כָּל עֲדַ֧ת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל עַל מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְ/עַֽל אַהֲרֹ֖ן בַּ/מִּדְבָּֽר
And the children of Israel saide vnto them, Would to God wee had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when wee sate by the flesh pots, and when we did eate bread to the full: for ye haue brought vs forth into this wildernesse, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
GenevaFor the children of Israel sayde to them, Oh that we had dyed by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when wee sate by the flesh pots, when wee ate bread our bellies full: for yee haue brought vs out into this wildernesse, to kill this whole company with famine.
וַ/יֹּאמְר֨וּ אֲלֵ/הֶ֜ם בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מִֽי יִתֵּ֨ן מוּתֵ֤/נוּ בְ/יַד יְהוָה֙ בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּ/שִׁבְתֵּ֨/נוּ֙ עַל סִ֣יר הַ/בָּשָׂ֔ר בְּ/אָכְלֵ֥/נוּ לֶ֖חֶם לָ/שֹׂ֑בַע כִּֽי הוֹצֵאתֶ֤ם אֹתָ֨/נוּ֙ אֶל הַ/מִּדְבָּ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֔ה לְ/הָמִ֛ית אֶת כָּל הַ/קָּהָ֥ל הַ/זֶּ֖ה בָּ/רָעָֽב
¶ Then said the LORD vnto Moses, Behold, I will raine bread from heauen for you: and the people shall goe out, and gather a certaine rate euery day, that I may proue them, whether they will walke in my Law, or no.
GenevaThen sayd the Lord vnto Moses, Behold, I wil cause bread to rayne from heauen to you, and the people shall goe out, and gather that that is sufficient for euery day, that I may proue them, whether they wil walke in my Law or no.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל מֹשֶׁ֔ה הִנְ/נִ֨י מַמְטִ֥יר לָ/כֶ֛ם לֶ֖חֶם מִן הַ/שָּׁמָ֑יִם וְ/יָצָ֨א הָ/עָ֤ם וְ/לָֽקְטוּ֙ דְּבַר י֣וֹם בְּ/יוֹמ֔/וֹ לְמַ֧עַן אֲנַסֶּ֛/נּוּ הֲ/יֵלֵ֥ךְ בְּ/תוֹרָתִ֖/י אִם לֹֽא
And it shall come to passe, that on the sixt day, they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather dayly.
GenevaBut the sixt daye they shall prepare that, which they shall bring home, and it shalbe twise as much as they gather dayly.
וְ/הָיָה֙ בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/שִּׁשִּׁ֔י וְ/הֵכִ֖ינוּ אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר יָבִ֑יאוּ וְ/הָיָ֣ה מִשְׁנֶ֔ה עַ֥ל אֲשֶֽׁר יִלְקְט֖וּ י֥וֹם יֽוֹם
And Moses and Aaron said vnto all the children of Israel, At euen, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt.
GenevaThen Moses and Aaron sayde vnto all the children of Israel, At euen ye shall know, that the Lord brought you out of the land of Egypt:
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר מֹשֶׁה֙ וְ/אַהֲרֹ֔ן אֶֽל כָּל בְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל עֶ֕רֶב וִֽ/ידַעְתֶּ֕ם כִּ֧י יְהוָ֛ה הוֹצִ֥יא אֶתְ/כֶ֖ם מֵ/אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם
And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD, for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: And what are wee, that yee murmure against vs?
GenevaAnd in the morning ye shall see the glorie of the Lord: for he hath heard your grudgings against the Lord: and what are we that ye haue murmured against vs?
וּ/בֹ֗קֶר וּ/רְאִיתֶם֙ אֶת כְּב֣וֹד יְהוָ֔ה בְּ/שָׁמְע֥/וֹ אֶת תְּלֻנֹּתֵי/כֶ֖ם עַל יְהוָ֑ה וְ/נַ֣חְנוּ מָ֔ה כִּ֥י תלונו עָלֵֽי/נוּ
And Moses said, This shalbe when the LORD shal giue you in the euening flesh to eate, and in the morning bread to the full: for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmure against him; and what are wee? your murmurings are not against vs, but against the LORD.
GenevaAgaine Moses sayd, At euen shall the Lord giue you flesh to eate, and in the morning your fil of bread: for the Lord hath heard your murmurings, which ye murmure against him: for what are we? your murmurings are not against vs, but against the Lord.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֗ה בְּ/תֵ֣ת יְהוָה֩ לָ/כֶ֨ם בָּ/עֶ֜רֶב בָּשָׂ֣ר לֶ/אֱכֹ֗ל וְ/לֶ֤חֶם בַּ/בֹּ֨קֶר֙ לִ/שְׂבֹּ֔עַ בִּ/שְׁמֹ֤עַ יְהוָה֙ אֶת תְּלֻנֹּ֣תֵי/כֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּ֥ם מַלִּינִ֖ם עָלָ֑י/ו וְ/נַ֣חְנוּ מָ֔ה לֹא עָלֵ֥י/נוּ תְלֻנֹּתֵי/כֶ֖ם כִּ֥י עַל יְהוָֽה
¶ And Moses spake vnto Aaron, Say vnto all the Congregation of the children of Israel, Come neere before the LORD: for hee hath heard your murmurings.
GenevaAnd Moses sayd to Aaron, Say vnto all the Congregation of the children of Israel, Draw neere before the Lord: for he hath heard your murmurings.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶֽל אַהֲרֹ֔ן אֱמֹ֗ר אֶֽל כָּל עֲדַת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל קִרְב֖וּ לִ/פְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כִּ֣י שָׁמַ֔ע אֵ֖ת תְּלֻנֹּתֵי/כֶֽם
And it came to passe as Aaron spake vnto the whole Congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wildernesse, and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloude.

וַ/יְהִ֗י כְּ/דַבֵּ֤ר אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶל כָּל עֲדַ֣ת בְּנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַ/יִּפְנ֖וּ אֶל הַ/מִּדְבָּ֑ר וְ/הִנֵּה֙ כְּב֣וֹד יְהוָ֔ה נִרְאָ֖ה בֶּ/עָנָֽן
¶ And the LORD spake vnto Moses, saying,
Geneva(For the Lord had spoken vnto Moses, saying,
וַ/יְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּ/אמֹֽר
I haue heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: Speake vnto them, saying, At euen ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shalbe filled with bread: and ye shal know that I am the LORD your God.
GenevaI haue heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: tell them therefore, and say, At euen ye shall eate flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread, and ye shall knowe that I am the Lord your God)
שָׁמַ֗עְתִּי אֶת תְּלוּנֹּת֮ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ דַּבֵּ֨ר אֲלֵ/הֶ֜ם לֵ/אמֹ֗ר בֵּ֤ין הָֽ/עַרְבַּ֨יִם֙ תֹּאכְל֣וּ בָשָׂ֔ר וּ/בַ/בֹּ֖קֶר תִּשְׂבְּעוּ לָ֑חֶם וִֽ/ידַעְתֶּ֕ם כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵי/כֶֽם
And it came to passe, that at euen the Quailes came vp, and couered the campe: and in the morning the dew lay round about the hoste.

וַ/יְהִ֣י בָ/עֶ֔רֶב וַ/תַּ֣עַל הַ/שְּׂלָ֔ו וַ/תְּכַ֖ס אֶת הַֽ/מַּחֲנֶ֑ה וּ/בַ/בֹּ֗קֶר הָֽיְתָה֙ שִׁכְבַ֣ת הַ/טַּ֔ל סָבִ֖יב לַֽ/מַּחֲנֶֽה
And when the dewe that lay was gone vp, behold, vpon the face of the wildernesse there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoare frost on the ground.
GenevaAnd when the dewe that was fallen was ascended, beholde, a small round thing was vpon the face of the wildernes, small as the hoare frost on the earth.
וַ/תַּ֖עַל שִׁכְבַ֣ת הַ/טָּ֑ל וְ/הִנֵּ֞ה עַל פְּנֵ֤י הַ/מִּדְבָּר֙ דַּ֣ק מְחֻסְפָּ֔ס דַּ֥ק כַּ/כְּפֹ֖ר עַל הָ/אָֽרֶץ
And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is Manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said vnto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath giuen you to eate.

וַ/יִּרְא֣וּ בְנֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וַ/יֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ אִ֤ישׁ אֶל אָחִי/ו֙ מָ֣ן ה֔וּא כִּ֛י לֹ֥א יָדְע֖וּ מַה ה֑וּא וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֲלֵ/הֶ֔ם ה֣וּא הַ/לֶּ֔חֶם אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֧ן יְהוָ֛ה לָ/כֶ֖ם לְ/אָכְלָֽה
¶ This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded: gather of it euery man according to his eating: an Omer for euery man, according to the number of your persons, take yee euery man for them which are in his tents.

זֶ֤ה הַ/דָּבָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה לִקְט֣וּ מִמֶּ֔/נּוּ אִ֖ישׁ לְ/פִ֣י אָכְל֑/וֹ עֹ֣מֶר לַ/גֻּלְגֹּ֗לֶת מִסְפַּר֙ נַפְשֹׁ֣תֵי/כֶ֔ם אִ֛ישׁ לַ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּ/אָהֳל֖/וֹ תִּקָּֽחוּ
And the children of Israel did so, and gathered some more, some lesse.

וַ/יַּעֲשׂוּ כֵ֖ן בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַֽ/יִּלְקְט֔וּ הַ/מַּרְבֶּ֖ה וְ/הַ/מַּמְעִֽיט
And when they did mete it with an Omer, he that gathered much, had nothing ouer, and he that gathered litle, had no lacke: they gathered euery man according to his eating.

וַ/יָּמֹ֣דּוּ בָ/עֹ֔מֶר וְ/לֹ֤א הֶעְדִּיף֙ הַ/מַּרְבֶּ֔ה וְ/הַ/מַּמְעִ֖יט לֹ֣א הֶחְסִ֑יר אִ֥ישׁ לְ/פִֽי אָכְל֖/וֹ לָקָֽטוּ
And Moses saide, Let no man leaue of it till the morning.
GenevaMoses then said vnto them, Let no man reserue thereof till morning.
וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֲלֵ/הֶ֑ם אִ֕ישׁ אַל יוֹתֵ֥ר מִמֶּ֖/נּוּ עַד בֹּֽקֶר
Notwithstanding they hearkened not vnto Moses, but some of them left of it vntill the morning, and it bred wormes, and stanke: and Moses was wroth with them.
GenevaNotwithstanding they obeyed not Moses: but some of them reserued of it till morning, and it was full of wormes, and stanke: therefore Moses was angrie with them.
וְ/לֹא שָׁמְע֣וּ אֶל מֹשֶׁ֗ה וַ/יּוֹתִ֨רוּ אֲנָשִׁ֤ים מִמֶּ֨/נּוּ֙ עַד בֹּ֔קֶר וַ/יָּ֥רֻם תּוֹלָעִ֖ים וַ/יִּבְאַ֑שׁ וַ/יִּקְצֹ֥ף עֲלֵ/הֶ֖ם מֹשֶֽׁה
And they gathered it euery morning, euery man according to his eating: and when the Sunne waxed hot, it melted.

וַ/יִּלְקְט֤וּ אֹת/וֹ֙ בַּ/בֹּ֣קֶר בַּ/בֹּ֔קֶר אִ֖ישׁ כְּ/פִ֣י אָכְל֑/וֹ וְ/חַ֥ם הַ/שֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ וְ/נָמָֽס
¶ And it came to passe that on the sixt day they gathered twice as much bread, two Omers for one man: and all the rulers of the Congregation came and told Moses.

וַ/יְהִ֣י בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/שִּׁשִּׁ֗י לָֽקְט֥וּ לֶ֨חֶם֙ מִשְׁנֶ֔ה שְׁנֵ֥י הָ/עֹ֖מֶר לָ/אֶחָ֑ד וַ/יָּבֹ֨אוּ֙ כָּל נְשִׂיאֵ֣י הָֽ/עֵדָ֔ה וַ/יַּגִּ֖ידוּ לְ/מֹשֶֽׁה
And he said vnto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath vnto the LORD: bake that which you will bake, to day, and seethe that ye will seethe, and that which remaineth ouer, lay vp for you to be kept vntill the morning.
GenevaAnd he answered them, This is that, which the Lord hath sayde, To morowe is the rest of the holy Sabbath vnto the Lord: bake that to day which ye wil bake, and seethe that which ye wil seethe, and all that remaineth, lay it vp to be kept till the morning for you.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵ/הֶ֗ם ה֚וּא אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה שַׁבָּת֧וֹן שַׁבַּת קֹ֛דֶשׁ לַֽ/יהוָ֖ה מָחָ֑ר אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר תֹּאפ֞וּ אֵפ֗וּ וְ/אֵ֤ת אֲשֶֽׁר תְּבַשְּׁלוּ֙ בַּשֵּׁ֔לוּ וְ/אֵת֙ כָּל הָ֣/עֹדֵ֔ף הַנִּ֧יחוּ לָ/כֶ֛ם לְ/מִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת עַד הַ/בֹּֽקֶר
And they laid it vp till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stinke, neither was there any worme therein.

וַ/יַּנִּ֤יחוּ אֹת/וֹ֙ עַד הַ/בֹּ֔קֶר כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֣ה מֹשֶׁ֑ה וְ/לֹ֣א הִבְאִ֔ישׁ וְ/רִמָּ֖ה לֹא הָ֥יְתָה בּֽ/וֹ
And Moses saide, Eate that to day, for to day is a Sabbath vnto the LORD: to day yee shall not finde it in the field.

וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר מֹשֶׁה֙ אִכְלֻ֣/הוּ הַ/יּ֔וֹם כִּֽי שַׁבָּ֥ת הַ/יּ֖וֹם לַ/יהוָ֑ה הַ/יּ֕וֹם לֹ֥א תִמְצָאֻ֖/הוּ בַּ/שָּׂדֶֽה
Sixe dayes ye shall gather it, but on the seuenth day which is the Sabbath, in it there shall be none.

שֵׁ֥שֶׁת יָמִ֖ים תִּלְקְטֻ֑/הוּ וּ/בַ/יּ֧וֹם הַ/שְּׁבִיעִ֛י שַׁבָּ֖ת לֹ֥א יִֽהְיֶה בּֽ/וֹ
¶ And it came to passe, that there went out some of the people on the seuenth day for to gather, and they found none.
GenevaNotwithstanding, there went out some of the people in ye seuenth day for to gather, and they found none.
וַֽ/יְהִי֙ בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/שְּׁבִיעִ֔י יָצְא֥וּ מִן הָ/עָ֖ם לִ/לְקֹ֑ט וְ/לֹ֖א מָצָֽאוּ
And the LORD said vnto Moses, How long refuse yee to keepe my Commandements, and my Lawes?
GenevaAnd the Lord sayde vnto Moses, Howe long refuse yee to keepe my commandements, and my lawes?
וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל מֹשֶׁ֑ה עַד אָ֨נָה֙ מֵֽאַנְתֶּ֔ם לִ/שְׁמֹ֥ר מִצְוֺתַ֖/י וְ/תוֹרֹתָֽ/י
See, for that the LORD hath giuen you the Sabbath, therefore hee giueth you on the sixt day the bread of two dayes: abide yee euery man in his place: let no man goe out of his place on the seuenth day.
GenevaBeholde, howe the Lord hath giuen you the Sabbath: therefore he giueth you the sixt day bread for two dayes: tary therefore euery man in his place: let no man goe out of his place the seuenth day.
רְא֗וּ כִּֽי יְהוָה֮ נָתַ֣ן לָ/כֶ֣ם הַ/שַּׁבָּת֒ עַל כֵּ֠ן ה֣וּא נֹתֵ֥ן לָ/כֶ֛ם בַּ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/שִּׁשִּׁ֖י לֶ֣חֶם יוֹמָ֑יִם שְׁב֣וּ אִ֣ישׁ תַּחְתָּ֗י/ו אַל יֵ֥צֵא אִ֛ישׁ מִ/מְּקֹמ֖/וֹ בַּ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/שְּׁבִיעִֽי
So the people rested on the seuenth day.

וַ/יִּשְׁבְּת֥וּ הָ/עָ֖ם בַּ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/שְּׁבִעִֽי
And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like Coriander seed, white: and the taste of it was like wafers made with hony.
GenevaAnd the house of Israel called the name of it, MAN. and it was like to coriander seede, but white: and the taste of it was like vnto wafers made with hony.
וַ/יִּקְרְא֧וּ בֵֽית יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶת שְׁמ֖/וֹ מָ֑ן וְ/ה֗וּא כְּ/זֶ֤רַע גַּד֙ לָבָ֔ן וְ/טַעְמ֖/וֹ כְּ/צַפִּיחִ֥ת בִּ/דְבָֽשׁ
¶ And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commandeth: Fill an Omer of it to bee kept for your generations, that they may see the bread wherewith I haue fed you in the wildernesse, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
GenevaAnd Moses said, This is that which the Lord hath commanded, Fill an Omer of it, to keepe it for your posteritie: that they may see the bread wherewith I haue fed you in wildernesse, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֗ה זֶ֤ה הַ/דָּבָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה מְלֹ֤א הָ/עֹ֨מֶר֙ מִמֶּ֔/נּוּ לְ/מִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת לְ/דֹרֹתֵי/כֶ֑ם לְמַ֣עַן יִרְא֣וּ אֶת הַ/לֶּ֗חֶם אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֶאֱכַ֤לְתִּי אֶתְ/כֶם֙ בַּ/מִּדְבָּ֔ר בְּ/הוֹצִיאִ֥/י אֶתְ/כֶ֖ם מֵ/אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם
And Moses sayd vnto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an Omer full of Manna therein, and lay it vp before the LORD, to be kept for your generations.

וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶֽל אַהֲרֹ֗ן קַ֚ח צִנְצֶ֣נֶת אַחַ֔ת וְ/תֶן שָׁ֥מָּ/ה מְלֹֽא הָ/עֹ֖מֶר מָ֑ן וְ/הַנַּ֤ח אֹת/וֹ֙ לִ/פְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה לְ/מִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת לְ/דֹרֹתֵי/כֶֽם
As the LORD commaunded Moses, so Aaron layd it vp before the Testimonie, to be kept.

כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶל מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַ/יַּנִּיחֵ֧/הוּ אַהֲרֹ֛ן לִ/פְנֵ֥י הָ/עֵדֻ֖ת לְ/מִשְׁמָֽרֶת
And the children of Israel did eat Manna fortie yeeres, vntill they came to a land inhabited: they did eate Manna, vntill they came vnto the borders of the land of Canaan.
