Chapter 18
Deuteronomy 18
The Priests, the Leuites, and all the tribe of Leui, shall haue no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eate the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.
GenevaThe Priests of the Leuites, and all the tribe of Leui shall haue no part nor inheritace with Israel, but shall eate the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and his inheritance.
לֹֽא יִ֠הְיֶה לַ/כֹּהֲנִ֨ים הַ/לְוִיִּ֜ם כָּל שֵׁ֧בֶט לֵוִ֛י חֵ֥לֶק וְ/נַחֲלָ֖ה עִם יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אִשֵּׁ֧י יְהוָ֛ה וְ/נַחֲלָת֖/וֹ יֹאכֵלֽוּ/ן
Therefore shall they haue no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said vnto them.
GenevaTherefore shall they haue no inheritance among their brethren: for the Lord is their inheritance, as he hath sayd vnto them.
וְ/נַחֲלָ֥ה לֹא יִֽהְיֶה לּ֖/וֹ בְּ/קֶ֣רֶב אֶחָ֑י/ו יְהוָה֙ ה֣וּא נַחֲלָת֔/וֹ כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּר לֽ/וֹ
¶ And this shalbe the Priests due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it bee oxe or sheepe: and they shall giue vnto the Priest the shoulder, and the two cheekes, and the maw.
GenevaAnd this shalbe the Priests duetie of the people, that they, which offer sacrifice, whether it be bullocke or sheepe, shall giue vnto the Priest the shoulder, and the two cheekes, and the mawe.
וְ/זֶ֡ה יִהְיֶה֩ מִשְׁפַּ֨ט הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֜ים מֵ/אֵ֣ת הָ/עָ֗ם מֵ/אֵ֛ת זֹבְחֵ֥י הַ/זֶּ֖בַח אִם שׁ֣וֹר אִם שֶׂ֑ה וְ/נָתַן֙ לַ/כֹּהֵ֔ן הַ/זְּרֹ֥עַ וְ/הַ/לְּחָיַ֖יִם וְ/הַ/קֵּבָֽה
The first fruit also of thy corne, of thy wine, and of thy oyle, and the first of the fleece of thy sheepe, shalt thou giue him.

רֵאשִׁ֨ית דְּגָֽנְ/ךָ֜ תִּֽירֹשְׁ/ךָ֣ וְ/יִצְהָרֶ֗/ךָ וְ/רֵאשִׁ֛ית גֵּ֥ז צֹאנְ/ךָ֖ תִּתֶּן לּֽ/וֹ
For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the Name of the LORD, him, and his sonnes for euer.

כִּ֣י ב֗/וֹ בָּחַ֛ר יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖י/ךָ מִ/כָּל שְׁבָטֶ֑י/ךָ לַ/עֲמֹ֨ד לְ/שָׁרֵ֧ת בְּ/שֵׁם יְהוָ֛ה ה֥וּא וּ/בָנָ֖י/ו כָּל הַ/יָּמִֽים
¶ And if a Leuite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he soiourned, and come with all the desire of his minde, vnto the place which the LORD shall choose;
GenevaAlso when a Leuite shall come out of any of thy cities of all Israel, where hee remained, and come with all the desire of his heart vnto the place, which the Lord shall chuse,
וְ/כִֽי יָבֹ֨א הַ/לֵּוִ֜י מֵ/אַחַ֤ד שְׁעָרֶ֨י/ךָ֙ מִ/כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר ה֖וּא גָּ֣ר שָׁ֑ם וּ/בָא֙ בְּ/כָל אַוַּ֣ת נַפְשׁ֔/וֹ אֶל הַ/מָּק֖וֹם אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַ֥ר יְהוָֽה
Then hee shall minister in the Name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Leuites doe, which stand there before the LORD.

וְ/שֵׁרֵ֕ת בְּ/שֵׁ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑י/ו כְּ/כָל אֶחָי/ו֙ הַ/לְוִיִּ֔ם הָ/עֹמְדִ֥ים שָׁ֖ם לִ/פְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה
They shall haue like portions to eate, beside that which commeth of the sale of his patrimonie.

חֵ֥לֶק כְּ/חֵ֖לֶק יֹאכֵ֑לוּ לְ/בַ֥ד מִמְכָּרָ֖י/ו עַל הָ/אָבֽוֹת
¶ When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giueth thee, thou shalt not learne to doe after the abominations of those nations.
GenevaWhen thou shalt come into ye land which the Lord thy God giueth thee, thou shalt not learne to do after ye abominations of those nations.
כִּ֤י אַתָּה֙ בָּ֣א אֶל הָ/אָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁר יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖י/ךָ נֹתֵ֣ן לָ֑/ךְ לֹֽא תִלְמַ֣ד לַ/עֲשׂ֔וֹת כְּ/תוֹעֲבֹ֖ת הַ/גּוֹיִ֥ם הָ/הֵֽם
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his sonne, or his daughter to passe thorow the fire, or that vseth diuination, or an obseruer of times, or an inchanter, or a witch,
GenevaLet none be founde among you that maketh his sonne or his daughter to goe thorough the fire, or that vseth witchcraft, or a regarder of times, or a marker of the flying of foules, or a sorcerer,
לֹֽא יִמָּצֵ֣א בְ/ךָ֔ מַעֲבִ֥יר בְּנֽ/וֹ וּ/בִתּ֖/וֹ בָּ/אֵ֑שׁ קֹסֵ֣ם קְסָמִ֔ים מְעוֹנֵ֥ן וּ/מְנַחֵ֖שׁ וּ/מְכַשֵּֽׁף
Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wyzard, or a Necromancer.
GenevaOr a charmer, or that counselleth with spirits, or a soothsaier, or that asketh counsel at ye dead.
וְ/חֹבֵ֖ר חָ֑בֶר וְ/שֹׁאֵ֥ל אוֹב֙ וְ/יִדְּעֹנִ֔י וְ/דֹרֵ֖שׁ אֶל הַ/מֵּתִֽים
For all that do these things, are an abomination vnto the LORD: and because of these abominations, the LORD thy God doth driue them out from before thee.
GenevaFor all that doe such things are abomination vnto the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doeth cast them out before thee.
כִּֽי תוֹעֲבַ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה כָּל עֹ֣שֵׂה אֵ֑לֶּה וּ/בִ/גְלַל֙ הַ/תּוֹעֵבֹ֣ת הָ/אֵ֔לֶּה יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔י/ךָ מוֹרִ֥ישׁ אוֹתָ֖/ם מִ/פָּנֶֽי/ךָ
Thou shalt bee perfite with the LORD thy God.
GenevaThou shalt be vpright therefore with the Lord thy God.
תָּמִ֣ים תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה עִ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽי/ךָ
For these nations which thou shalt possesse, hearkened vnto obseruers of times, and vnto diuiners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to doe.
GenevaFor these nations which thou shalt possesse, hearken vnto those that regarde the times, and vnto sorcerers: as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffred thee so.
כִּ֣י הַ/גּוֹיִ֣ם הָ/אֵ֗לֶּה אֲשֶׁ֤ר אַתָּה֙ יוֹרֵ֣שׁ אוֹתָ֔/ם אֶל מְעֹנְנִ֥ים וְ/אֶל קֹסְמִ֖ים יִשְׁמָ֑עוּ וְ/אַתָּ֕ה לֹ֣א כֵ֔ן נָ֛תַן לְ/ךָ֖ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽי/ךָ
¶ The LORD thy God will raise vp vnto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like vnto me, vnto him ye shall hearken,

נָבִ֨יא מִ/קִּרְבְּ/ךָ֤ מֵ/אַחֶ֨י/ךָ֙ כָּמֹ֔/נִי יָקִ֥ים לְ/ךָ֖ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑י/ךָ אֵלָ֖י/ו תִּשְׁמָעֽוּ/ן
According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb, in the day of the assembly, saying, Let mee not heare again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let mee see this great fire any more, that I die not.

כְּ/כֹ֨ל אֲשֶׁר שָׁאַ֜לְתָּ מֵ/עִ֨ם יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֨י/ךָ֙ בְּ/חֹרֵ֔ב בְּ/י֥וֹם הַ/קָּהָ֖ל לֵ/אמֹ֑ר לֹ֣א אֹסֵ֗ף לִ/שְׁמֹ֨עַ֙ אֶת קוֹל֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֔/י וְ/אֶת הָ/אֵ֨שׁ הַ/גְּדֹלָ֥ה הַ/זֹּ֛את לֹֽא אֶרְאֶ֥ה ע֖וֹד וְ/לֹ֥א אָמֽוּת
And the LORD said vnto mee, They haue well spoken that which they haue spoken.
GenevaAnd the Lord sayde vnto me, They haue well spoken.
וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֵלָ֑/י הֵיטִ֖יבוּ אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֵּֽרוּ
I will raise them vp a Prophet from among their brethren, like vnto thee, and will put my wordes in his mouth, and hee shall speake vnto them all that I shall command him.

נָבִ֨יא אָקִ֥ים לָ/הֶ֛ם מִ/קֶּ֥רֶב אֲחֵי/הֶ֖ם כָּמ֑וֹ/ךָ וְ/נָתַתִּ֤י דְבָרַ/י֙ בְּ/פִ֔י/ו וְ/דִבֶּ֣ר אֲלֵי/הֶ֔ם אֵ֖ת כָּל אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲצַוֶּֽ/נּוּ
And it shall come to passe, that whosoeuer will not hearken vnto my words, which hee shall speake in my name, I will require it of him.

וְ/הָיָ֗ה הָ/אִישׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא יִשְׁמַע֙ אֶל דְּבָרַ֔/י אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְדַבֵּ֖ר בִּ/שְׁמִ֑/י אָנֹכִ֖י אֶדְרֹ֥שׁ מֵ/עִמּֽ/וֹ
But the prophet which shall presume to speake a word in my name, which I haue not commanded him to speake, or that shall speake in the name of other gods, euen that prophet shall die.

אַ֣ךְ הַ/נָּבִ֡יא אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָזִיד֩ לְ/דַבֵּ֨ר דָּבָ֜ר בִּ/שְׁמִ֗/י אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא צִוִּיתִי/ו֙ לְ/דַבֵּ֔ר וַ/אֲשֶׁ֣ר יְדַבֵּ֔ר בְּ/שֵׁ֖ם אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֑ים וּ/מֵ֖ת הַ/נָּבִ֥יא הַ/הֽוּא
And if thou say in thine heart, How shall wee know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
GenevaAnd if thou thinke in thine heart, Howe shall we knowe the worde which the Lord hath not spoken?
וְ/כִ֥י תֹאמַ֖ר בִּ/לְבָבֶ֑/ךָ אֵיכָה֙ נֵדַ֣ע אֶת הַ/דָּבָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא דִבְּר֖/וֹ יְהוָֽה
When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to passe, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not bee afraid of him.
GenevaWhen a prophet speaketh in the Name of the Lord, if the thing follow not nor come to passe, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not therefore be afraid of him.
אֲשֶׁר֩ יְדַבֵּ֨ר הַ/נָּבִ֜יא בְּ/שֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֗ה וְ/לֹֽא יִהְיֶ֤ה הַ/דָּבָר֙ וְ/לֹ֣א יָב֔וֹא ה֣וּא הַ/דָּבָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא דִבְּר֖/וֹ יְהוָ֑ה בְּ/זָדוֹן֙ דִּבְּר֣/וֹ הַ/נָּבִ֔יא לֹ֥א תָג֖וּר מִמֶּֽ/נּוּ
