Daniel 11
Also I, in the first yeere of Darius the Mede, euen I stood to confirme and to strengthen him.
GenevaAlso I, in ye first yere of Darius of ye Medes, euen I stood to incourage and to strengthen him.
וַ/אֲנִי֙ בִּ/שְׁנַ֣ת אַחַ֔ת לְ/דָרְיָ֖וֶשׁ הַ/מָּדִ֑י עָמְדִ֛/י לְ/מַחֲזִ֥יק וּ/לְ/מָע֖וֹז לֽ/וֹ
And now will I shew thee the trueth. Behold, there shall stand vp yet three Kings in Persia, & the fourth shalbe farre richer then they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stirre vp all against the realme of Grecia.

וְ/עַתָּ֕ה אֱמֶ֖ת אַגִּ֣יד לָ֑/ךְ הִנֵּה עוֹד֩ שְׁלֹשָׁ֨ה מְלָכִ֜ים עֹמְדִ֣ים לְ/פָרַ֗ס וְ/הָֽ/רְבִיעִי֙ יַעֲשִׁ֤יר עֹֽשֶׁר גָּדוֹל֙ מִ/כֹּ֔ל וּ/כְ/חֶזְקָת֣/וֹ בְ/עָשְׁר֔/וֹ יָעִ֣יר הַ/כֹּ֔ל אֵ֖ת מַלְכ֥וּת יָוָֽן
And a mighty King shal stand vp, that shall rule with great dominion, and doe according to his will.
GenevaBut a mightie King shall stand vp, that shall rule with great dominion, and doe according to his pleasure.
וְ/עָמַ֖ד מֶ֣לֶךְ גִּבּ֑וֹר וּ/מָשַׁל֙ מִמְשָׁ֣ל רַ֔ב וְ/עָשָׂ֖ה כִּ/רְצוֹנֽ/וֹ
And when he shall stand vp, his kingdome shall be broken, and shall be diuided toward the foure winds of heauen; and not to his posteritie, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdome shall be pluckt vp, euen for others besides those.

וּ/כְ/עָמְד/וֹ֙ תִּשָּׁבֵ֣ר מַלְכוּת֔/וֹ וְ/תֵחָ֕ץ לְ/אַרְבַּ֖ע רוּח֣וֹת הַ/שָּׁמָ֑יִם וְ/לֹ֣א לְ/אַחֲרִית֗/וֹ וְ/לֹ֤א כְ/מָשְׁל/וֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָשָׁ֔ל כִּ֤י תִנָּתֵשׁ֙ מַלְכוּת֔/וֹ וְ/לַ/אֲחֵרִ֖ים מִ/לְּ/בַד אֵֽלֶּה
¶ And the King of the South shall be strong, and one of his princes, and he shall be strong aboue him, and haue dominion: his dominion shall be a great dominion.
GenevaAnd ye King of ye South shalbe mightie, and one of his princes, and shall preuaile against him, and beare rule: his dominio shalbe a great dominion.
וְ/יֶחֱזַ֥ק מֶֽלֶךְ הַ/נֶּ֖גֶב וּ/מִן שָׂרָ֑י/ו וְ/יֶחֱזַ֤ק עָלָי/ו֙ וּ/מָשָׁ֔ל מִמְשָׁ֥ל רַ֖ב מֶמְשַׁלְתּֽ/וֹ
And in the end of yeeres they shall ioyne themselues together: for the Kings daughter of the South shall come to the King of the North to make an agreement, but she shall not retaine the power of the arme, neither shall he stand, nor his arme: but she shall be giuen vp, and they that brought her, and he that begate her, and he that strengthened her in these times.
GenevaAnd in the ende of yeeres they shalbe ioyned together: for the Kings daughter of ye South shall come to the King of the North to make an agreement, but she shall not reteine the power of the arme, neither shall he continue, nor his arme: but she shall be deliuered to death, and they that brought her, and he that begate her, and he that comforted her in these times.
וּ/לְ/קֵ֤ץ שָׁנִים֙ יִתְחַבָּ֔רוּ וּ/בַ֣ת מֶֽלֶךְ הַ/נֶּ֗גֶב תָּבוֹא֙ אֶל מֶ֣לֶךְ הַ/צָּפ֔וֹן לַ/עֲשׂ֖וֹת מֵישָׁרִ֑ים וְ/לֹֽא תַעְצֹ֞ר כּ֣וֹחַ הַ/זְּר֗וֹעַ וְ/לֹ֤א יַעֲמֹד֙ וּ/זְרֹע֔/וֹ וְ/תִנָּתֵ֨ן הִ֤יא וּ/מְבִיאֶ֨י/הָ֙ וְ/הַ/יֹּ֣לְדָ֔/הּ וּ/מַחֲזִקָ֖/הּ בָּ/עִתִּֽים
But out of a branch of her rootes shall one stand vp in his estate, which shall come with an armie, and shall enter into the fortresse of the King of the North, and shall deale against them, and shall preuaile:

וְ/עָמַ֛ד מִ/נֵּ֥צֶר שָׁרָשֶׁ֖י/הָ כַּנּ֑/וֹ וְ/יָבֹ֣א אֶל הַ/חַ֗יִל וְ/יָבֹא֙ בְּ/מָעוֹז֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַ/צָּפ֔וֹן וְ/עָשָׂ֥ה בָ/הֶ֖ם וְ/הֶחֱזִֽיק
And shall also carie captiues into Egypt their gods with their princes, and with their precious vessels of siluer and of gold, and he shall continue moe yeeres then the King of the North.

וְ/גַ֣ם אֱֽלֹהֵי/הֶ֡ם עִם נְסִֽכֵי/הֶם֩ עִם כְּלֵ֨י חֶמְדָּתָ֜/ם כֶּ֧סֶף וְ/זָהָ֛ב בַּ/שְּׁבִ֖י יָבִ֣א מִצְרָ֑יִם וְ/הוּא֙ שָׁנִ֣ים יַעֲמֹ֔ד מִ/מֶּ֖לֶךְ הַ/צָּפֽוֹן
So the King of the South shall come into his kingdome, and shall returne into his owne land.
GenevaSo the King of ye South shall come into his kingdome, and shall returne into his owne land.
וּ/בָ֗א בְּ/מַלְכוּת֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַ/נֶּ֔גֶב וְ/שָׁ֖ב אֶל אַדְמָתֽ/וֹ
But his sonnes shall be stirred vp, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come and ouerflow and passe through: then shall he returne, and be stirred vp euen to his fortresse.
GenevaWherefore his sonnes shall be stirred vp, and shall assemble a mightie great armie: and one shall come, and ouerflowe, and passe through: then shall he returne, and be stirred vp at his fortresse.
ו/בנ/ו יִתְגָּר֗וּ וְ/אָסְפוּ֙ הֲמוֹן֙ חֲיָלִ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים וּ/בָ֥א ב֖וֹא וְ/שָׁטַ֣ף וְ/עָבָ֑ר וְ/יָשֹׁ֥ב ו/יתגרו עַד מעז/ה
And the King of the South shall be moued with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, euen with the King of the North: and hee shall set forth a great multitude, but the multitude shall be giuen into his hand.
GenevaAnd the King of the South shall be angrie, and shall come foorth, and fight with him, euen with the King of the North: for he shall set foorth a great multitude, and the multitude shall be giuen into his hand.
וְ/יִתְמַרְמַר֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַ/נֶּ֔גֶב וְ/יָצָ֕א וְ/נִלְחַ֥ם עִמּ֖/וֹ עִם מֶ֣לֶךְ הַ/צָּפ֑וֹן וְ/הֶעֱמִיד֙ הָמ֣וֹן רָ֔ב וְ/נִתַּ֥ן הֶ/הָמ֖וֹן בְּ/יָדֽ/וֹ
And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted vp: and he shall cast downe many tenne thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.
GenevaThen the multitude shall be proude, and their heart shall be lifted vp: for hee shall cast downe thousands: but he shall not still preuaile.
וְ/נִשָּׂ֥א הֶ/הָמ֖וֹן ירום לְבָב֑/וֹ וְ/הִפִּ֛יל רִבֹּא֖וֹת וְ/לֹ֥א יָעֽוֹז
For the King of the North shall returne, and shall set forth a multitude greater then the former, and shall certainly come (after certaine yeeres) with a great armie & with much riches.
GenevaFor the King of the North shall returne, and shall set foorth a greater multitude then afore, and shall come foorth (after certeine yeeres) with a mightie armie, and great riches.
וְ/שָׁב֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַ/צָּפ֔וֹן וְ/הֶעֱמִ֣יד הָמ֔וֹן רַ֖ב מִן הָ/רִאשׁ֑וֹן וּ/לְ/קֵ֨ץ הָֽ/עִתִּ֤ים שָׁנִים֙ יָ֣בוֹא ב֔וֹא בְּ/חַ֥יִל גָּד֖וֹל וּ/בִ/רְכ֥וּשׁ רָֽב
And in those times there shall many stand vp against the King of the South: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselues to establish the vision, but they shall fall.
GenevaAnd at the same time there shall many stand vp against the King of the South: also the rebellious children of thy people shall exalt them selues to establish the vision, but they shall fall.
וּ/בָ/עִתִּ֣ים הָ/הֵ֔ם רַבִּ֥ים יַֽעַמְד֖וּ עַל מֶ֣לֶךְ הַ/נֶּ֑גֶב וּ/בְנֵ֣י פָּרִיצֵ֣י עַמְּ/ךָ֗ יִֽנַּשְּׂא֛וּ לְ/הַעֲמִ֥יד חָז֖וֹן וְ/נִכְשָֽׁלוּ
So the King of the North shall come, and cast vp a mount, and take the most fenced cities, and the armes of the South shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.
GenevaSo the King of the North shall come, and cast vp a mount, and take the strong citie: and the armes of the South shall not resist, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.
וְ/יָבֹא֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַ/צָּפ֔וֹן וְ/יִשְׁפֹּךְ֙ סֽוֹלֲלָ֔ה וְ/לָכַ֖ד עִ֣יר מִבְצָר֑וֹת וּ/זְרֹע֤וֹת הַ/נֶּ֨גֶב֙ לֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֔דוּ וְ/עַם֙ מִבְחָרָ֔י/ו וְ/אֵ֥ין כֹּ֖חַ לַ/עֲמֹֽד
But he that commeth against him, shall doe according to his owne will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.
GenevaBut he that shall come, shall doe vnto him as he list, and none shall stand against him: and he shall stand in the pleasant land, which by his hand shalbe consumed.
וְ/יַ֨עַשׂ הַ/בָּ֤א אֵלָי/ו֙ כִּ/רְצוֹנ֔/וֹ וְ/אֵ֥ין עוֹמֵ֖ד לְ/פָנָ֑י/ו וְ/יַעֲמֹ֥ד בְּ/אֶֽרֶץ הַ/צְּבִ֖י וְ/כָלָ֥ה בְ/יָדֽ/וֹ
He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdome and vpright ones with him: thus shall he doe, and he shall giue him the daughter of women corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him.
GenevaAgaine he shall set his face to enter with the power of his whole kingdome, and his confederates with him: thus shall he doe, and he shall giue him the daughter of women, to destroy her: but she shall not stande on his side, neither bee for him.
וְ/יָשֵׂ֣ם פָּ֠נָי/ו לָ/ב֞וֹא בְּ/תֹ֧קֶף כָּל מַלְכוּת֛/וֹ וִ/ישָׁרִ֥ים עִמּ֖/וֹ וְ/עָשָׂ֑ה וּ/בַ֤ת הַ/נָּשִׁים֙ יִתֶּן ל֣/וֹ לְ/הַשְׁחִיתָ֔/הּ וְ/לֹ֥א תַעֲמֹ֖ד וְ/לֹא ל֥/וֹ תִהְיֶֽה
After this shall he turne his face vnto the yles, and shall take many, but a prince for his own behalfe shall cause the reproch offred by him to cease without his owne reproch: he shall cause it to turne vpon him.
GenevaAfter this shall he turne his face vnto the yles, and shall take many, but a prince shall cause his shame to light vpon him, beside that he shall cause his owne shame to turne vpon himselfe.
ו/ישב פָּנָ֛י/ו לְ/אִיִּ֖ים וְ/לָכַ֣ד רַבִּ֑ים וְ/הִשְׁבִּ֨ית קָצִ֤ין חֶרְפָּת/וֹ֙ ל֔/וֹ בִּלְתִּ֥י חֶרְפָּת֖/וֹ יָשִׁ֥יב לֽ/וֹ
Then he shall turne his face towards the fort of his owne lande: but he shall stumble and fall, and not bee found.
GenevaFor he shall turne his face toward the fortes of his owne land: but he shall be ouerthrowen and fall, and be no more founde.
וְ/יָשֵׁ֣ב פָּנָ֔י/ו לְ/מָעוּזֵּ֖י אַרְצ֑/וֹ וְ/נִכְשַׁ֥ל וְ/נָפַ֖ל וְ/לֹ֥א יִמָּצֵֽא
Then shall stand vp in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdome, but within few dayes he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battell.
GenevaThen shall stand vp in his place in the glorie of the kingdome, one that shall raise taxes: but after fewe dayes he shall be destroyed, neither in wrath, nor in battell.
וְ/עָמַ֧ד עַל כַּנּ֛/וֹ מַעֲבִ֥יר נוֹגֵ֖שׂ הֶ֣דֶר מַלְכ֑וּת וּ/בְ/יָמִ֤ים אֲחָדִים֙ יִשָּׁבֵ֔ר וְ/לֹ֥א בְ/אַפַּ֖יִם וְ/לֹ֥א בְ/מִלְחָמָֽה
And in his estate shall stand vp a vile person, to whom they shal not giue the honour of the kingdome: but hee shall come in peaceably, and obtaine the kingdome by flatteries.

וְ/עָמַ֤ד עַל כַּנּ/וֹ֙ נִבְזֶ֔ה וְ/לֹא נָתְנ֥וּ עָלָ֖י/ו ה֣וֹד מַלְכ֑וּת וּ/בָ֣א בְ/שַׁלְוָ֔ה וְ/הֶחֱזִ֥יק מַלְכ֖וּת בַּ/חֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת
And with the armes of a flood shall they bee ouerflowen from before him, and shall be broken: yea also the prince of the couenant.
GenevaAnd the armes shall be ouerthrowen with a flood before him, and shall be broken: and also the prince of the couenant.
וּ/זְרֹע֥וֹת הַ/שֶּׁ֛טֶף יִשָּׁטְפ֥וּ מִ/לְּ/פָנָ֖י/ו וְ/יִשָּׁבֵ֑רוּ וְ/גַ֖ם נְגִ֥יד בְּרִֽית
And after the league made with him he shall worke deceitfully, for hee shall come vp, and shall become strong with a small people.
GenevaAnd after the league made with him, he shall worke deceitfully: for he shall come vp, and ouercome with a small people.
וּ/מִן הִֽתְחַבְּר֥וּת אֵלָ֖י/ו יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה מִרְמָ֑ה וְ/עָלָ֥ה וְ/עָצַ֖ם בִּ/מְעַט גּֽוֹי
He shall enter peaceably euen vpon the fattest places of the prouince, and he shall doe that which his fathers haue not done, nor his fathers fathers, he shall scatter among them the praye and spoile, and riches: yea and he shall forecast his deuices against the strong holdes, euen for a time.
GenevaHe shall enter into the quiet and plentifull prouince, and he shall doe that which his fathers haue not done, nor his fathers fathers: he shall deuide among them the pray and the spoyle, and the substance, yea, and he shall forecast his deuises against the strong holdes, euen for a time.
בְּ/שַׁלְוָ֞ה וּ/בְ/מִשְׁמַנֵּ֣י מְדִינָה֮ יָבוֹא֒ וְ/עָשָׂ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹא עָשׂ֤וּ אֲבֹתָי/ו֙ וַ/אֲב֣וֹת אֲבֹתָ֔י/ו בִּזָּ֧ה וְ/שָׁלָ֛ל וּ/רְכ֖וּשׁ לָ/הֶ֣ם יִבְז֑וֹר וְ/עַ֧ל מִבְצָרִ֛ים יְחַשֵּׁ֥ב מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֖י/ו וְ/עַד עֵֽת
And he shall stirre vp his power, and his courage against the king of the South with a great army, and the king of the South shall bee stirred vp to battell with a very great and mightie armie: but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast deuices against him.

וְ/יָעֵר֩ כֹּח֨/וֹ וּ/לְבָב֜/וֹ עַל מֶ֣לֶךְ הַ/נֶּגֶב֮ בְּ/חַ֣יִל גָּדוֹל֒ וּ/מֶ֣לֶךְ הַ/נֶּ֗גֶב יִתְגָּרֶה֙ לַ/מִּלְחָמָ֔ה בְּ/חַֽיִל גָּד֥וֹל וְ/עָצ֖וּם עַד מְאֹ֑ד וְ/לֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֔ד כִּֽי יַחְשְׁב֥וּ עָלָ֖י/ו מַחֲשָׁבֽוֹת
Yea they that feede of the portion of his meate, shall destroy him, and his armie shall ouerflow: and many shall fall downe slaine.

וְ/אֹכְלֵ֧י פַת בָּג֛/וֹ יִשְׁבְּר֖וּ/הוּ וְ/חֵיל֣/וֹ יִשְׁט֑וֹף וְ/נָפְל֖וּ חֲלָלִ֥ים רַבִּֽים
And both these kings hearts shall be to doe mischiefe, and they shall speake lies at one table: but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall bee at the time appointed.
GenevaAnd both these Kings hearts shall be to do mischiefe, and they shall talke of deceite at one table: but it shall not auaile: for yet the ende shall be at the time appointed.
וּ/שְׁנֵי/הֶ֤ם הַ/מְּלָכִים֙ לְבָבָ֣/ם לְ/מֵרָ֔ע וְ/עַל שֻׁלְחָ֥ן אֶחָ֖ד כָּזָ֣ב יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ וְ/לֹ֣א תִצְלָ֔ח כִּי ע֥וֹד קֵ֖ץ לַ/מּוֹעֵֽד
Then shall hee returne into his land with great riches, and his heart shall be against the holy couenant: and he shall doe exploits, and returne to his owne land.
GenevaThen shall he returne into his land with great substance: for his heart shall be against the holy couenant: so shall he doe and returne to his owne land.
וְ/יָשֹׁ֤ב אַרְצ/וֹ֙ בִּ/רְכ֣וּשׁ גָּד֔וֹל וּ/לְבָב֖/וֹ עַל בְּרִ֣ית קֹ֑דֶשׁ וְ/עָשָׂ֖ה וְ/שָׁ֥ב לְ/אַרְצֽ/וֹ
At the time appointed he shall returne, and come toward the South: but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.
GenevaAt the time appointed he shall returne, and come toward the South: but the last shall not be as the first.
לַ/מּוֹעֵ֥ד יָשׁ֖וּב וּ/בָ֣א בַ/נֶּ֑גֶב וְ/לֹֽא תִהְיֶ֥ה כָ/רִאשֹׁנָ֖ה וְ/כָ/אַחֲרֹנָֽה
¶ For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieued and returne, and haue indignation against the holy Couenant: so shal he doe, he shall euen returne, and haue intelligence with them that forsake the holy Couenant.
GenevaFor the shippes of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shalbe sorie and returne, and freat against the holy couenant: so shall he doe, he shall euen returne and haue intelligence with them that forsake the holy couenant.
וּ/בָ֨אוּ ב֜/וֹ צִיִּ֤ים כִּתִּים֙ וְ/נִכְאָ֔ה וְ/שָׁ֛ב וְ/זָעַ֥ם עַל בְּרִֽית ק֖וֹדֶשׁ וְ/עָשָׂ֑ה וְ/שָׁ֣ב וְ/יָבֵ֔ן עַל עֹזְבֵ֖י בְּרִ֥ית קֹֽדֶשׁ
And armes shal stand on his part, and they shall pollute the Sanctuarie of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shal place the abomination that maketh desolate.

וּ/זְרֹעִ֖ים מִמֶּ֣/נּוּ יַעֲמֹ֑דוּ וְ/חִלְּל֞וּ הַ/מִּקְדָּ֤שׁ הַ/מָּעוֹז֙ וְ/הֵסִ֣ירוּ הַ/תָּמִ֔יד וְ/נָתְנ֖וּ הַ/שִּׁקּ֥וּץ מְשׁוֹמֵֽם
And such as doe wickedly against the couenant, shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God, shall be strong and doe exploits.
GenevaAnd such as wickedly breake ye couenant, shall he cause to sinne by flatterie: but the people that do know their God, shall preuaile and prosper.
וּ/מַרְשִׁיעֵ֣י בְרִ֔ית יַחֲנִ֖יף בַּ/חֲלַקּ֑וֹת וְ/עַ֛ם יֹדְעֵ֥י אֱלֹהָ֖י/ו יַחֲזִ֥קוּ וְ/עָשֽׂוּ
And they that vnderstand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captiuitie, and by spoile many dayes.

וּ/מַשְׂכִּ֣ילֵי עָ֔ם יָבִ֖ינוּ לָֽ/רַבִּ֑ים וְ/נִכְשְׁל֞וּ בְּ/חֶ֧רֶב וּ/בְ/לֶהָבָ֛ה בִּ/שְׁבִ֥י וּ/בְ/בִזָּ֖ה יָמִֽים
Now when they shall fall, they shalbe holpen with a litle help: but many shall cleaue to them with flatteries.

וּ/בְ/הִכָּ֣שְׁלָ֔/ם יֵעָזְר֖וּ עֵ֣זֶר מְעָ֑ט וְ/נִלְו֧וּ עֲלֵי/הֶ֛ם רַבִּ֖ים בַּ/חֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת
And some of them of vnderstanding shall fall, to trie them, and to purge, and to make them white, euen to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

Thus shall hee doe in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule ouer many, and shall diuide the land for gaine.
