1 Corinthians 3

And I, brethren, could not speake vnto you as vnto spirituall, but as vnto carnall, euen as vnto babes in Christ.

Κἀγώ, ἀδελφοί, οὐκ ἠδυνήθην λαλῆσαι ὑμῖν ὡς πνευματικοῖς ἀλλ’ ὡς σαρκίνοις, ὡς νηπίοις ἐν Χριστῷ.

I haue fed you with milke, and not with meate: for hitherto yee were not able to beare it, neither yet now are ye able.

GenevaI gaue you milke to drinke, and not meat: for yee were not yet able to beare it, neither yet nowe are yee able.

γάλα ὑμᾶς ἐπότισα, οὐ βρῶμα, οὔπω γὰρ ἐδύνασθε. ἀλλ’ οὐδὲ ἔτι νῦν δύνασθε,

For ye are yet carnall: for whereas there is among you enuying, and strife, and diuisions, are ye not carnall, and walke as men?

ἔτι γὰρ σαρκικοί ἐστε. ὅπου γὰρ ἐν ὑμῖν ζῆλος καὶ ἔρις, οὐχὶ σαρκικοί ἐστε καὶ κατὰ ἄνθρωπον περιπατεῖτε;

For while one saieth, I am of Paul, and another, I am of Apollo, are ye not carnall?

GenevaFor when one sayeth, I am Pauls, and another, I am Apollos, are yee not carnall?

ὅταν γὰρ λέγῃ τις· Ἐγὼ μέν εἰμι Παύλου, ἕτερος δέ· Ἐγὼ Ἀπολλῶ, οὐκ ἄνθρωποί ἐστε;

Who then is Paul? and who is Apollo? but ministers by whom ye beleeued, euen as the Lord gaue to euery man.

GenevaWho is Paul then? and who is Apollos, but the ministers by whome yee beleeued, and as the Lord gaue to euery man?

Τί οὖν ἐστιν Ἀπολλῶς; τί δέ ἐστιν Παῦλος; διάκονοι δι’ ὧν ἐπιστεύσατε, καὶ ἑκάστῳ ὡς ὁ κύριος ἔδωκεν.

I haue planted, Apollo watered: but God gaue the encrease.

GenevaI haue planted, Apollos watred, but God gaue the increase.

ἐγὼ ἐφύτευσα, Ἀπολλῶς ἐπότισεν, ἀλλὰ ὁ θεὸς ηὔξανεν·

So then, neither is he that planteth any thing, neither hee that watereth: but God that giueth the increase.

GenevaSo then, neither is hee that planteth any thing, neither hee that watreth, but God that giueth the increase.

ὥστε οὔτε ὁ φυτεύων ἐστίν τι οὔτε ὁ ποτίζων, ἀλλ’ ὁ αὐξάνων θεός.

Now hee that planteth, and hee that watereth, are one: and euery man shal receiue his own reward according to his owne labour.

GenevaAnd he that planteth, and he that watreth, are one, and euery man shall receiue his wages, according to his labour.

ὁ φυτεύων δὲ καὶ ὁ ποτίζων ἕν εἰσιν, ἕκαστος δὲ τὸν ἴδιον μισθὸν λήμψεται κατὰ τὸν ἴδιον κόπον,

For wee are labourers together with God, ye are Gods husbandry, yee are Gods building.

GenevaFor we together are Gods labourers: yee are Gods husbandrie, and Gods building.

θεοῦ γάρ ἐσμεν συνεργοί· θεοῦ γεώργιον, θεοῦ οἰκοδομή ἐστε.

According to the grace of God which is giuen vnto mee, as a wise master builder I haue laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let euery man take heede how hee buildeth thereupon.

Κατὰ τὴν χάριν τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν δοθεῖσάν μοι ὡς σοφὸς ἀρχιτέκτων θεμέλιον ἔθηκα, ἄλλος δὲ ἐποικοδομεῖ. ἕκαστος δὲ βλεπέτω πῶς ἐποικοδομεῖ·

For other foundation can no man lay, then that is laide, which is Iesus Christ.

GenevaFor other foundation can no man laie, then that which is laied, which is Iesus Christ.

θεμέλιον γὰρ ἄλλον οὐδεὶς δύναται θεῖναι παρὰ τὸν κείμενον, ὅς ἐστιν Ἰησοῦς Χριστός·

Now if any man build vpon this foundation, gold, siluer, preciousstones, wood, hay, stubble:

GenevaAnd if any man builde on this foundation, golde, siluer, precious stones, timber, haye, or stubble,

εἰ δέ τις ἐποικοδομεῖ ἐπὶ τὸν θεμέλιον χρυσόν, ἄργυρον, λίθους τιμίους, ξύλα, χόρτον, καλάμην,

Euery mans worke shall be made manifest. For the day shall declare it, because it shall bee reuealed by fire, and the fire shall trie euery mans worke of what sort it is.

GenevaEuery mans worke shalbe made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shalbe reueiled by the fire: and the fire shall trie euery mans worke of what sort it is.

ἑκάστου τὸ ἔργον φανερὸν γενήσεται, ἡ γὰρ ἡμέρα δηλώσει· ὅτι ἐν πυρὶ ἀποκαλύπτεται, καὶ ἑκάστου τὸ ἔργον ὁποῖόν ἐστιν τὸ πῦρ αὐτὸ δοκιμάσει.

If any mans worke abide which he hath built thereupon, he shal receiue a reward.

GenevaIf any mans worke, that he hath built vpon, abide, he shall receiue wages.

εἴ τινος τὸ ἔργον μενεῖ ὃ ἐποικοδόμησεν, μισθὸν λήμψεται·

If any mans worke shall bee burnt, he shall suffer losse: but he himselfe shall be saued: yet so, as by fire.

GenevaIf any mans worke burne, he shall lose, but he shalbe saued himselfe: neuerthelesse yet as it were by the fire.

εἴ τινος τὸ ἔργον κατακαήσεται, ζημιωθήσεται, αὐτὸς δὲ σωθήσεται, οὕτως δὲ ὡς διὰ πυρός.

Knowe yee not that yee are the Temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

GenevaKnowe ye not that ye are the Temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ναὸς θεοῦ ἐστε καὶ τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ θεοῦ οἰκεῖ ἐν ὑμῖν;

If any man defile the Temple of God, him shall God destroy: for the Temple of God is holy, which Temple ye are.

GenevaIf any man destroy the Temple of God, him shall God destroy: for the Temple of God is holy, which ye are.

εἴ τις τὸν ναὸν τοῦ θεοῦ φθείρει, φθερεῖ τοῦτον ὁ θεός· ὁ γὰρ ναὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ἅγιός ἐστιν, οἵτινές ἐστε ὑμεῖς.

Let no man deceiue himselfe: If any man among you seemeth to bee wise in this world, let him become a foole, that he may be wise.

Μηδεὶς ἑαυτὸν ἐξαπατάτω· εἴ τις δοκεῖ σοφὸς εἶναι ἐν ὑμῖν ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τούτῳ, μωρὸς γενέσθω, ἵνα γένηται σοφός,

For the wisedome of this world is foolishnesse with God: for it is written, Hee taketh the wise in their owne craftinesse.

ἡ γὰρ σοφία τοῦ κόσμου τούτου μωρία παρὰ τῷ θεῷ ἐστιν· γέγραπται γάρ· Ὁ δρασσόμενος τοὺς σοφοὺς ἐν τῇ πανουργίᾳ αὐτῶν·

And againe, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vaine.

GenevaAnd againe, The Lord knoweth that the thoughtes of the wise be vaine.

καὶ πάλιν· Κύριος γινώσκει τοὺς διαλογισμοὺς τῶν σοφῶν ὅτι εἰσὶν μάταιοι.

Therefore let no man glory in men, for all things are yours.

GenevaTherefore let no man reioyce in men: for all things are yours.

ὥστε μηδεὶς καυχάσθω ἐν ἀνθρώποις· πάντα γὰρ ὑμῶν ἐστιν,

Whether Paul, or Apollo, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come, all are yours.

GenevaWhether it be Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death: whether they be things present, or thinges to come, euen all are yours,

εἴτε Παῦλος εἴτε Ἀπολλῶς εἴτε Κηφᾶς εἴτε κόσμος εἴτε ζωὴ εἴτε θάνατος εἴτε ἐνεστῶτα εἴτε μέλλοντα, πάντα ὑμῶν,

And yee are Christs, and Christ is Gods.

GenevaAnd ye Christes, and Christ Gods.

ὑμεῖς δὲ Χριστοῦ, Χριστὸς δὲ θεοῦ.
