1 Chronicles 13

And Dauid consulted with the captaines of thousands, and hundreds, and with euery leader.

GenevaAnd Dauid counselled with the captaines of thousandes and of hundreths, and with all the gouernours.

וַ/יִּוָּעַ֣ץ דָּוִ֗יד עִם שָׂרֵ֧י הָ/אֲלָפִ֛ים וְ/הַ/מֵּא֖וֹת לְ/כָל נָגִֽיד

And Dauid said vnto all the Congregation of Israel, If it seeme good vnto you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let vs send abroad vnto our brethren euery where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the Priests and Leuites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselues vnto vs.

GenevaAnd Dauid said to all the Congregation of Israel, If it seeme good to you, and that it proceedeth of the Lord our God, we will sende to and from vnto our brethren, that are left in all the lande of Israel (for with them are the Priests and the Leuites in the cities and their suburbes) that they may assemble them selues vnto vs.

וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜יד לְ/כֹ֣ל קְהַ֣ל יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אִם עֲלֵי/כֶ֨ם ט֜וֹב וּ/מִן יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֗י/נוּ נִפְרְצָה֙ נִשְׁלְחָ֞ה עַל אַחֵ֣י/נוּ הַ/נִּשְׁאָרִ֗ים בְּ/כֹל֙ אַרְצ֣וֹת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְ/עִמָּ/הֶ֛ם הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֥ים וְ/הַ/לְוִיִּ֖ם בְּ/עָרֵ֣י מִגְרְשֵׁי/הֶ֑ם וְ/יִקָּבְצ֖וּ אֵלֵֽי/נוּ

And let vs bring againe the Arke of our God to vs: for wee enquired not at it in the dayes of Saul.

GenevaAnd we will bring againe the Arke of our God to vs: for we sought not vnto it in the dayes of Saul.

וְ/נָסֵ֛בָּה אֶת אֲר֥וֹן אֱלֹהֵ֖י/נוּ אֵלֵ֑י/נוּ כִּי לֹ֥א דְרַשְׁנֻ֖/הוּ בִּ/ימֵ֥י שָׁאֽוּל

And all the Congregation saide, that they would doe so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

GenevaAnd all the Congregation answered, Let vs doe so: for the thing seemed good in the eyes of all the people.

וַ/יֹּאמְר֥וּ כָֽל הַ/קָּהָ֖ל לַ/עֲשׂ֣וֹת כֵּ֑ן כִּֽי יָשַׁ֥ר הַ/דָּבָ֖ר בְּ/עֵינֵ֥י כָל הָ/עָֽם

So Dauid gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt, euen vnto the entring of Hemath, to bring the Arke of God from Kiriath-iearim.

וַ/יַּקְהֵ֤ל דָּוִיד֙ אֶת כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִן שִׁיח֥וֹר מִצְרַ֖יִם וְ/עַד לְב֣וֹא חֲמָ֑ת לְ/הָבִיא֙ אֶת אֲר֣וֹן הָ/אֱלֹהִ֔ים מִ/קִּרְיַ֖ת יְעָרִֽים

And Dauid went vp, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-iearim, which belonged to Iudah, to bring vp thence the Arke of God the LORD, that dwelleth betweene the Cherubims, whose name is called on it.

וַ/יַּ֨עַל דָּוִ֤יד וְ/כָל יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בַּעֲלָ֔תָ/ה אֶל קִרְיַ֥ת יְעָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִ/יהוּדָ֑ה לְ/הַעֲל֣וֹת מִ/שָּׁ֗ם אֵת֩ אֲר֨וֹן הָ/אֱלֹהִ֧ים יְהוָ֛ה יוֹשֵׁ֥ב הַ/כְּרוּבִ֖ים אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָ֥א שֵֽׁם

And they caried the Arke of God in a new cart, out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza, and Ahio draue the cart.

GenevaAnd they caryed the Arke of God in a newe cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Vzza and Ahio guided the cart.

וַ/יַּרְכִּ֜יבוּ אֶת אֲר֤וֹן הָ/אֱלֹהִים֙ עַל עֲגָלָ֣ה חֲדָשָׁ֔ה מִ/בֵּ֖ית אֲבִינָדָ֑ב וְ/עֻזָּ֣א וְ/אַחְי֔וֹ נֹהֲגִ֖ים בָּ/עֲגָלָֽה

And Dauid and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harpes, and with psalteries, and with tymbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

וְ/דָוִ֣יד וְ/כָל יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מְשַׂחֲקִ֛ים לִ/פְנֵ֥י הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים בְּ/כָל עֹ֑ז וּ/בְ/שִׁירִ֤ים וּ/בְ/כִנֹּרוֹת֙ וּ/בִ/נְבָלִ֣ים וּ/בְ/תֻפִּ֔ים וּ/בִ/מְצִלְתַּ֖יִם וּ/בַ/חֲצֹצְרֽוֹת

¶ And when they came vnto the threshing floore of Chidon, Uzza put foorth his hand to hold the Arke, for the oxen stumbled.

GenevaAnd when they came vnto the thresshing floore of Chidon, Vzza put forth his hand to holde the Arke, for the oxen did shake it.

וַ/יָּבֹ֖אוּ עַד גֹּ֣רֶן כִּידֹ֑ן וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֨ח עֻזָּ֜א אֶת יָד֗/וֹ לֶ/אֱחֹז֙ אֶת הָ֣/אָר֔וֹן כִּ֥י שָֽׁמְט֖וּ הַ/בָּקָֽר

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and hee smote him, because hee put his hand to the Arke: and there he died before God.

GenevaBut the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Vzza, and he smote him, because he layed his hande vpon the Arke: so he dyed there before God.

וַ/יִּֽחַר אַ֤ף יְהוָה֙ בְּ/עֻזָּ֔א וַ/יַּכֵּ֕/הוּ עַ֛ל אֲשֶׁר שָׁלַ֥ח יָד֖/וֹ עַל הָ/אָר֑וֹן וַ/יָּ֥מָת שָׁ֖ם לִ/פְנֵ֥י אֱלֹהִֽים

And Dauid was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach vpon Uzza; wherefore that place is called Perez-Uzza, to this day.

GenevaAnd Dauid was angrie, because the Lord had made a breach in Vzza, and he called the name of that place Perez-vzza vnto this day.

וַ/יִּ֣חַר לְ/דָוִ֔יד כִּֽי פָרַ֧ץ יְהוָ֛ה פֶּ֖רֶץ בְּ/עֻזָּ֑א וַ/יִּקְרָ֞א לַ/מָּק֤וֹם הַ/הוּא֙ פֶּ֣רֶץ עֻזָּ֔א עַ֖ד הַ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/זֶּֽה

And Dauid was afraide of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the Arke of God home to me?

GenevaAnd Dauid feared God that day, saying, Howe shall I bring in to me the Arke of God?

וַ/יִּירָ֤א דָוִיד֙ אֶת הָ֣/אֱלֹהִ֔ים בַּ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/ה֖וּא לֵ/אמֹ֑ר הֵ֚יךְ אָבִ֣יא אֵלַ֔/י אֵ֖ת אֲר֥וֹן הָ/אֱלֹהִֽים

So Dauid brought not the Arke home to himselfe to the city of Dauid, but caried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

GenevaTherefore Dauid brought not the Arke to him into the citie of Dauid, but caused it to turne into the house of Obed Edom the Gittite.

וְ/לֹֽא הֵסִ֨יר דָּוִ֧יד אֶת הָ/אָר֛וֹן אֵלָ֖י/ו אֶל עִ֣יר דָּוִ֑יד וַ/יַּטֵּ֕/הוּ אֶל בֵּ֥ית עֹבֵֽד אֱדֹ֖ם הַ/גִּתִּֽי

And the Arke of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three moneths. And the LORD blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he had.

GenevaSo the Arke of God remained in the house of Obed Edom, euen in his house three moneths: and the Lord blessed the house of Obed Edom, and all that he had.

וַ/יֵּשֶׁב֩ אֲר֨וֹן הָ/אֱלֹהִ֜ים עִם בֵּ֨ית עֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֛ם בְּ/בֵית֖/וֹ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה חֳדָשִׁ֑ים וַ/יְבָ֧רֶךְ יְהוָ֛ה אֶת בֵּ֥ית עֹבֵֽד אֱדֹ֖ם וְ/אֶת כָּל אֲשֶׁר לֽ/וֹ
